X / Re: Maverick Hunter X, because I'm like 4 years behind you guys

Far as I remember they say the Adion was a new Ride Chaser devised by Dr. Cain in the japanese materials for X4. I could be wrong.

Cain didn't design it, but he did tune it for greater speed and power.

Quote
Hell, he's even got the Maverick symbol right on his head, which they changed for MHX.

Which just means "I'm a bad guy." Besides, Vile always had respect for Sigma. He just doesn't take orders from him unless he actually likes the orders.

Besides, at one point in development VAVA actually had a frikken "Z" on his head. It's just a side effect of unit affiliation and now being an irregular. In my opinion, the "V" is far more fitting for him.

Quote
What? If Vile doesn't define murderous reploid maverick,

Sigma is referring to the concept from RockmanX8. In which VAVA is amongst all the others that can go "maverick at will." It just means that Sigma has taken an interest in VAVA for his similarity to himself; both just do as they please without any compassion for others. He basically is saying he needs a murderous reploid maverick for the job, not any of those nobodies that follow out of loyalty, greed, boredom and weakness.

Quote
See above. Vile had every reason to wanna destroy X in X3. Then he turns around and is following Sigma in X8.

The only thing really different with Vile is his obsession with X being portrayed as a bit childish. But he really has always been portrayed as wanting to destroy X out of personal reasons. For example, Iwamoto has VAVA wanting to destroy the legend of X's name. VAVA simply hates the potential that X is supposed to have.

Quote
Where in X1 is Dr. Cain so ridiculously old he's in a wheel chair that will barely extend his life and then he gets blown to hell with the rest of a Maverick Hunter base?

Where in Day of Sigma was the Maverick Hunter base even destroyed? The entire city got hit with a missile barrage, but the effects were not as devastating as you claim they are. The missile that engulfed Cain's place (NOT Maverick Hunter base) hit approximately a city block away. Craters emphasize that the missiles didn't have such a wide destructive effect. NOTHING happened to Cain.

And Cain was always old, and absent from X1. The chair is a new addition, but that's because they're showing him outside of Hunter Base. Cause you know, the chair he sits in is not a wheel chair, it more than likely serves to assist him during dinner. MHX art clearly depicts Cain standing around as he does in X2 and X3.

Really, anything nothing is in contradiction with the rest of the X-series aside from just baseless assumptions.

Quote
Even if he isn't dead, he still explicitly states that he won't be around much longer.

I don't see why Cain can't hold up for 6 months, several months, several months, several months and then die. Who knows, his spirit to live might even have been reawakened after the events of X1, that or he's sinking deeper into depression as the war wages on. Point is, he doesn't have to die then and there.

Quote
Look up at the last statement in my post, the keywords are bolded.

But that's all the more reason to say there's no contradiction. MHX has to lead into X2~4. Only when there's an assured MHX2~4 can they decide to flat out retcon parts of the sequels. MHX was always written to work with the games that can't be remade, such as X7, XCM and X8.

X7 completely disregards the previous events of the Earth crisis, with the only mention being that civilization has gotten back on its feet and moved on.

They arrived at point RD13-29…a special re-development area. A big colony fell long time ago….then everything was destroyed….but the area had since then recovered from the damage. Red and Axl stood on the hill where they could see the developing area…waiting for the right time to strike. Axl was completely enthralled. The moment right before all the action was always so strangely fulfilling. His excitement and tension actually made him very comfortable. Perhaps that was the reason for his existence? To hunt? Perhaps Axl admired the blue repliroid because he could see his own real personality coming out when in pursuit of an Irregular.

Vile may've been crazy, but he wasn't the loose cannon they portrayed him as in MHX.

What are you talking about? Every single bio of the guy talks about him being a loose cannon.

VAVA (Vile)
Originally with the 17th elite unit, his ability as a hunter is Special A Class,
but due to a fault in his electronic brain, he became an abhorrent destroyer of
repliroids.
Because of this, he was removed from the work of the Irregular
Hunters and immobilized, but with Sigma's rebellion was set free. He now
enjoys commiting frequent acts of destruction.

The only way Sigma and VAVA relate is how MHX has it. Sigma set him free and VAVA happily went along with it. He's not Sigma's right hand man. Really, you're only basing that on the fact that he's fighting on Sigma's side and is in certain places at the right time, which still remains true as of MHX.

In X3 he is exactly the same, not taking any orders, trashing a fortress filled with mechaniloids to take their place as the boss.

Quote
I try not to, but I'm not a fan of retcons at all. Sometimes they happen, but things like Day of Sigma were just blatant disregard for the original.

There's nothing in Day of Sigma that is in disagreement with the original.

Quote
I've never been a fan of needing a source book to get information that should be readily available in a game, either. Yeah, the rest was nice fleshing out, but Vile was done wrong, plain and simple (and if I have to state it, IN MY OPINION)

Yet when they put that info in the game you complain about it?

The story is terrible. I simply refuse to acknowledge it as canon until I'm forced to.

Every part of the story is based on what always was. Literally everything from MHX is in the X1 manual, subsequent games and sourcebooks. The exception being the exact events of Day of Sigma, Chameleo getting pwned by Sigma and Penguigo's becoming a midget.

Quote
Vile just being batshit insane and just doing his own thing.

Likewise, Vile was ALWAYS like that. Play X3 some more.

What direction? X6 or X7+? X6 really shouldn't be grouped with a story that wasn't even conceived at the time. X7's sudden shift in direction is almost universally disliked. X6 on the other hand ties in very nicely with X5 and introduced to us two of the most awesome characters of the series.

X6 never was intended as an ending of the series. In that regard, you can't compare it to X5. X6 was a sneakpeak of the future, a sneakpeak of the ending that has yet to be written. Only when it is written can you compare it to X5.

Get equipped with MMZOCW, and update your Fanon definitions.

There is, nor was there ever, any copy body in X6.  The copy body originated in Elf Wars, the interim between Zero's two slumbers.  The fact that he konked out twice was written by Inticreates for the full and sole reason of accommodating the Dark Elf.  Despite ever so fun brainstorms about the contrary, nothing in Z3 is relevant to X-series continuity.

Rod knows, he's just talking about the theories from before RZOCW. I'm sure you recall a certain person's claims about X6 Zero being in a copy body made by Light.

Not often.  And I figured that the Battle Network Mettools had their pickaxes directly attached to one of the knobs on their sides.

They do always have pickaxes and arms, they just don't show them.

I'm pretty sure (90%, maybe?) that Dr.Wily is responsible for creating MOST of the robot enemies

Dr. Right actually, and anyone who just happened to advance upon his work. Wily just reprogrammed them. Unless they're made for combat, then they're Wily's.

Quote

I mean, a miner-type robot that was modified to attack people with its pick, that makes sense.  But a disembodied head in a helmet that spits bullets in three directions at once?  That's just bizarre.

Said disembodied head actually has arms and a pickaxe.

You're better off going "WTF" over the fact that SSR has them of alien origin.

Must be hard for that marshmallow person to be so noteworthy.

Honestly, all I hear is Zan this Zan that. Who's this marshmallow man?

But the japanese says clearly "revival of ambition". But then again, Japanese is word sometimes.

Quote
You all agree on Enigma or Mystery for Rockman 2?

Enigma is by far the better word for the whole ZOMG it's an alien moment of Rockman2.

Quote

And then there's Quest and Adventure. Dai Bouken is closest to Great Adventure, so...? Thoughts?

Quest and Adventure have specific differences in meaning. Unless there's a specific pursuit (quest for the mother lode/holy grail/whatever) then it's just a fun filled adventure! And yeah, Dai = Great, Bouken = Adventure. It's probably assuming too much to say a great adventure is a quest.

Quote
And for Rockman 7, Destined Showdown! or Confrontation of Fate! or something different?

Fated Showdown? Confrontation of destiny? I'm thinking 'fate' is inappropriate as fate is often its own word "unmei". Whereas shukumei is fate, destiny, predestination.. Destiny strikes me as the most powerful word. "Confrontation of destiny" strikes me as best.

1540
But that only makes sense from a game production standpoint, not a story one. In the story, it's the revival of Wily's ambition.

Rockman DASH 3 Episode 2: Fukkatsu! Boukoku no Mei Ou

In that order; boukoku no mei ou. boukoku being ruined country and mei ou being dark lord, isn't it about reviving the dark lord rather than reviving his country?

It means you'd hate it for obsessing over it.

There's occasional small amounts of shading, nothing to this degree.

1544
In terms of what can be shown, tiledata takes multiples of 8x8, but a lot of those can be transparent. However, when it comes to actual environmental tiles, Rock always stands on a multiple of 16x16, nor more no less. With the way SpeedReemix drew that boss, Rock would be standing in the air!

Hollogo however makes me wonder exactly how much more powerful high tier VLs are and if there is any true ceiling limit for them.

Regular hollow Vasto Lordes have a clear cut limit, that is why Aizen needs the orb; to break the limit of a hollow and a shinigami by merger. Ichigo's hollow on the other hand it's a Vizard with the hollow side having won over, not a transformation to a regular hollow, that is why there's no theoretical limit.

Of course, Ichigo's recent transformation is odd either way. He's attained a form greater that what all the other Vizard are capable of. When they became Vizards, it was through Aizen's prototype. Urahara using the real thing proved to be a failure.... it didn't work. It appears not even the orb could completely break the boundary of shinigami - hollow. The orb only seemed to initiate their battles against their inner hollow to the point that they could time them. Ichigo needed neither Aizen's prototype, nor the real thing. Like he is a true shinigami, he is also a vizard from birth.

1547
Youre annoying sometimes, Zan.

And if you didn't catch the point: all tiles have to be 16x16, dictating the size of that boss to be much larger.

Rockman Series / Re: MM Art Request thread.

The RM2 story in R1, Rock is running outside in the rainy night and he first fights with AirMan and FlashMan (who freezes Rockman and laughs like a maniac, with his tongue out). They are introducing themselves for the first time there, because Rock says that "That mark, they must be Wily robots" and AirMan introduces himself too, which means they all met Rockman for the first time here. I also scanned a page where HeatMan eats some pills and gets all strong and stuff, with a crazy face. Later on, Rockman fights with QuickMan who rides on-top of Mecha Dragon. o.o

As far as I understand it, the "Orders to destroy" story from Remix was changed to become the "Orders to destroy" story from MegaMixR1.

The entirety of R1 has been up at Rockman Tanjou since forever. "Orders to destroy" is the Rockman2 adaption, following directly the events of the first story "Rockman's birth", which adapted Rockman1. Then it skips the Rockman3 adaption (and many others) for Metal Heart.

Reggae is here too, so it means this is a very late event in the series.

That story is late in the timeline, yes, but not because of Reggae. Reggae first appeared in Rockboard, which is after Rockman4. The real reason for it to be late in the timeline is Auto's presence. After Rockman7: "That's right-dasu!"

Either way, am I right in saying the only true difference is that R lacks the Rockman6 adaption and a couple of 4komas?

Well, I'd say the bigger achievement in all this would be that she apparently managed to create Copy-X by just looking pictures of X. I don't recall if Ciel was already alive when X left Neo Arcadia to seal the Darkelf with the power of his body, but she managed to do it anyway, without Thomas Right's blueprints. That is quite an amazing feat actually. Then again, she was genetically reinforced in order to do such tasks. She's a designer baby genius.

Not quite. Ciel, at age 9, watched and mimicked the experiments that were used a hundred years ago to create the Big4 and managed to make a perfect copy of X. She's repeating an experiment, not watching pictures of X. Furthermore, she might have been a human with altered DNA, but even without that altered DNA she is a prodigy, her ancestry is a line of scientists that worked on studying Zero and creating Cyber Elves.

From MMZOCW:
This laboratory is also where Ciel's ancestors studied Cyber-elves, and where Weil created Omega.
humans with altered DNA.
Ciel was just one of these children and was a prodigy.
Just by watching and mimicking the experiments, she somehow managed to produce Copy X.
She was nine years old at the time.
They used the same methods to create the Four Guardians.
The Four Guardians, who were created by using the same methods used in creating Copy X.
