Classic series robots were never bound by Asimov's laws. Sure, Light cited the first rule of robotics. That does not mean these laws are hard-coded, it only means you shouldn't make killer robots. Rockman robots work with a conscience, not with Asimov. If Rock kills a human, he's going to feel very very very guilty. You know, like a human would.

Sorry to break your dreams. Humans are just biological forms that have their own consciousness and personalities which only exists through brain. So, if a human dies, that human is erased from universe "completely". I am not trying to say that to religious people. I'm just pointing out scientific facts on the idea of soul.

Sorry, but the scientific fact is that we don't know anything at all. You're just guessing Like all of us. :o

So, basicly even if Wily was brought back by the virus. It wasnt the real Wily we know from Original series. He was a copy with exactyle same personality and memories. So, he will just deny the fact that he is a copy. Since he believes that he is 100% original Wily.

This is Rockman. Ghosts are canon fact.

A soul is a soul.

If the Virus was Wily in and of itself, it would make sense that it would behave as in spreading the Virus to every reploid possible and becoming Wily.

Sigma is the Virus, he isn't making other Repliroids turn into him using it. The Agent Smith effect doesn't apply, except for some degree with the New Generation.

Story Two: Fire shows the road.

The world was set ablaze. That is, the fire of war engulfed the battlefield drenched in blood.

A once proud and prosperous nation had fallen. Even though its soldiers were still fighting on the front lines, the damage had already been done; everything was reduced to nothing.

Unaware of the loss of their loved ones; friends, family and children, soldiers continued to fight to protect what they had already lost.

But the endless Maverick march continued.

The sound of gunfire never ended; and one by one they fell.

...

"You weaklings! Stand up and fight!"

She yelled at them with discontent, even though she knew very well that the comrades she had fought alongside with had given more than they had ever given.

Whilst looking at their valiant effort, she realized that the true potential of people is brought out on the battlefield.

But still, it was not enough.

She's the last one standing...

After all, if they had just held on a little longer, would the tides of war not have turned to grant them victory?

"Ch..."

Since this battle started, her finger had not left the trigger. With her measly standard issue gun, she mowed down entire legions of Mavericks called "Galleons".

She is Atlas. Her origins are nothing special, she's but a defenseless civilian turned a soldier. But now being a proud soldier of a fallen nation, she showed how special she truly is.

The Mavericks fell just as her comrades have; one by one, but their numbers never did decrease.

It is as she always expected.

More and more Mavericks appeared. Hence, there is no victory. But even so, victory must be attained. That is because Atlas would not forgive herself if her own mortality stopped the evolution of her true self.

"Ugh!..."

A bullet struck her shoulder.

Ignoring the pain, she relentlessly shot down the one that hit her.

It has been like this since the battle started; mowing down Mavericks, taking hits but dodging vital blows, and then mowing down the Mavericks that hit her.

...

As she refused to weaken, the situation hadn't changed for many hours. Watching from behind the scorching flames, a certain somebody is enticed by this fact.

"She's a Chosen One, no doubt about it."

With a grin on his face, he watched on with a kind of enjoyment born from relief. Finally, he has found what he was looking for.

But... she is too good. For how long this battle has lasted, he knew she can hold out twice more than that. With the country already destroyed, having found what he was looking for, why would he wait even longer?

Even though he is called the Reaper, he does not wish to be around all this death much longer;  the raid reminded him of that which he'd much rather forget.

However, he, Prometheus, should never forget.

He despised this disgusting memory, but still, it is an evil he must accept. Within the sounds of the raid that he so hates, he had finally found another one.

This Chosen One brought him one step closer to his goal.

...

A silhouette different form the Galleons emerged from the flames.

Atlas wasn't startled, all she could think was: 'the leader has finally appeared.'

Swiftly her attention shifted and the gun fired several shots at the new adversary.

But it was worthless.

The enemy wielded an energy scythe; by it, all her bullets were effortlessly deflected.

Again she fired, the result didn't change.

Atlas now found herself face to face with the myth the Hunters call 'the Reaper'.

With speed unknown to her, the scythe slashed and she came to the sudden realization that she had never before known what strength was.

"Do you want power?"

The Reaper asked 'her', the enemy he has just brought to her knees.

The question drove itself into her mind; it was exactly the right question.

"I want to evolve." She replied.

...

She accepted the man's offers without hesitation.

"MegaMan is the evolution of man."

Having seen his power, she knew this was the truth.

"Do you have what it takes to be king?"

Of course she does. If this is a battle royale to determine who shall rule the world. Who else than she who wishes to evolve with each and every battle is suited to be the evolution known as the MegaMan King?

...

Within the flames of war, she was given power.

Within the flames of power, the road became clear.

Like wind drives away the fog, fire clears the road.

When she is done, there will be no enemies in front of her.

All will be destroyed.

Burned to ashes by her evolution.

As everything hints at Wily existing inside of Repliroid bodies that share his likeness; why would it make use of such complicated reality altering?
I think, that he used the virus to escape Cyberspace. I do not know, if he was a cyberelf-like being in the beginning or the virus gave him a body to interact with the material plane.

If he "escaped Cyberspace", he'd be a substantiated program like the Light hologram in X5, he wouldn't be occupying robotic bodies.

Wily died, but using the virus he became somewhat of a ghost; his soul could exist without a body and is now occupying the bodies of Repliroids made in his likeness.

Quote
Don't quote me on that - I'm posting this for the sake of marshmallow man sighting this and then seeing whether this is fact or not - but I thought I read somewhere the Nightmare sort of did the same thing. It would be possible since it's derived from the Sigma Virus and the Earth was still scorched with it.

The Nightmare Virus is so powerful it gives itself a solid body. Sigma Virus does this only in high concentration or by using external power. This process is 'substantiation' of the Virus.

Substantiation of other cyberspace programs (making them escape cyberspace) is also possible. But only the ZERO Virus has caused that phenomenon. Though the Gospel Server's radiation did the same, that's a different series. The Nightmare does do something similar, but it's not the same as what the ZERO virus does; I would liken it a lot more to how a Cyber Elf seems to change the environment.

The Sigma Virus being the basis for all these viruses would have similar properties.. it's just not powerful enough..

When did this interview happen? I had no idea Wily was brought back by the virus.

Remember when Inafune debunked the cataclysm? Same interview.

1) Did Zero really "kill" the family between the events of the Classic Mega Man and X series?
KI:  No, Zero did not kill them.  According to the way I created him, Zero is not such a person--it is not in his profile.

4) What was the inspiration for Sigma?

KI: Some people think he might have been inspired by Sagat from Street Fighter because of his look, but that's not actually the case.  Sigma and Zero basically represent the idea that nothing is absolute. Sigma was a powerful leader of the Maverick Hunters but after Zero passed the virus to him, his allegiance changed.  Circumstances can change anything, and nothing is absolute.

6) What happened to Dr. Wily in Rockman X series?  Are Dr. Wily and Dr. Weil the same person?  Were they ever supposed to be?

KI:  A large amount of time has passed between the classic series and Mega Man X.  Dr. Wily had died in the interim but was brought back by the virus.  Dr. Wily and Weil are not the same person.  It is ironic though, because Dr. Wily created Zero, and Dr. Weil used Zero, but ultimately it was a copy of Zero's original body with a different mind that defeated him.

Could it be, that Wily and the Sigma Virus acted in a similiar fashion of Omega and the Dark Elv causes to open gates between the Cyber Space and the Material Plane of existence?

Gates to Cyberspace can only exist by Dark Elf - Omega resonance. The Virus can cause a similar reality altering phenomenon, but only as the ZERO Virus; that is, the substantiation of cyberspace programs in the real world. Sigma Virus has only shown to able to substantiate itself by drawing on external power or concentrating itself.

As everything hints at Wily existing inside of Repliroid bodies that share his likeness; why would it make use of such complicated reality altering?

Quote
It isn't exactly the Virus.

When Inafune says Virus, he means Virus. Wily who died is using the Virus he himself created to bring him back to life. Similar to how Sigma does it, but without the part where he's become the Virus itself, he's able to cheat death and have his soul occupy a new body.

There's kinda truth to both points on that.  Note how much of a beating the various Sigma clones in X8's final stage can take.  By no means boss-level, but still pretty darn tough.

Of course, there was a previous Copy Sigma who WAS a boss, so that kinda throws a monkey wrench into the comparison.

I think that's not a comparison that can easily be made.. the power of the copied Sigma form is related to the power of the Repliroid and its copy ability....

I like Naruto, the manga. I read it. But it's just one of many shonen mangas and not as special as the fans wish it to be

Who's making it out to be more special than it is? I see the author making an effort to bring forth a conflict between childish simplicity and harshness of war, just like I see the author making an effort to establish a complex masterplan that Uchiha Madara is carrying out. It's not like we're talking about the deep symbolism of Sexy No Jutsu and Ramen.

And this will be my final word on this

As if, this is NARUTO. Believe it.

This is Naruto, it's as far from good storytelling as Mega Man is. If you want something deep and involving I suggest you read a book. Without pictures.

Surely Naruto isn't the most deep series to ever grace the world. But what I don't get, why would a book be any more or less deep than a comic? Whilst format does influence how any degree of depth is shown to the viewer, depth itself ultimately boils down to the intent, concept and setting that underlie the execution.

Both Naruto and MegaMan have their own type of depth, created by a variety of things, planned or otherwise. Mostly, as long running series, they evolve overtime and grow increasingly complex introducing new and deeper concept as time goes by.

Naruto as it is, has a primary focus in depth.

There is a harsh world setting coming to us in the form of an elaborately drawn plot that spans across generations of the fictional world's history. But, the series started as the simple stories of a happy go lucky mock-ninja seeking recognition. The series is evolving from that start by colliding that with something always intended to be; a history steeped in the madness of trickery and deceit.

The character's struggles between naive childish dreams and the underlying harshness of the setting, that is exactly the point of Naruto. And as it stands, we are discussing the extend at which the antagonist's complex masterplan actually exists.

As for MegaMan, seeing how half this forum can't make heads or tails about even the series' primary concepts, you must ask yourself how deep it truly is.

I'm inclined to believe the Aile we met was the real character. A Reploid solder from New Hope mentions that Aile looked up to Chief R like a father after he was taken in, and Chief R is taken aback when X informs him of Aile's sacrifice.

Well, Aile most certainly existed. But his friendship with Spider was wholly fabricated by Redips. If that friendship never existed, what purpose does the ID have? It could therefore very well be the case that Redips had killed Aile and taken his form and recovered the ID card from his body.

Quote
And I don't believe that Redips recovered any internal damage simply for using his copy ability. He seems able to move again

I was specifically referring to external damage. In the Redips-Spider revelation scene, is it not the case that Redips' is heavily sparking until he transforms into Spider and back?

Quote
(which works exactly like Axl's Stealth Mode, early hint?)

I really wonder about that ability... I'm inclined to believe it's not a Copy Chip based ability, otherwise, that would spoil his cover, but why else would both Axl and Spider have the same ability? Maybe because of their similar stealth orientated origins?

You can doubt Sigma's word if you like, I'm inclined to believe him. I think it certainly explains a lot.

Well, Sigma could have been slightly clearer in the English game >.>

Speaking of things a bit vague, do we have any indication of how Axl figured he was a prototype, or did that just kind of happen? It's a bit of an odd transition from there being just Axl, and then a whole generation of them.

Quote
I think the only thing that explains Vile's presence in X8 is his popularity. Dynamo seems just as willing to be Sigma's [sonic slicer] and likes following orders a lot more, but he wasn't chosen. Vile appears inexplicably as form "V" and the show goes on. The choice to revive him seems fairly arbitrary. Maybe Sigma just missed the little dickens.

Two things about Dynamo are of note; though he worships Sigma, he's still in it for the money and he seems to have grown quite weary of fighting with the dangerous X and Zero. He and VAVA are just innately different, that is why VAVA just fits so much better within the events of X8.

Quote
But, why would he decide that?

Isn't it a natural conclusion? Sigma is the first Repliroid, yet none would exceed him for years to come. Only a bunch of mysterious centuries' old robots could... Thing is, even though he might come to the conclusion, he might not at all feel like putting it to the test. Perhaps he would simply try to promote Repliroid evolution within the confines of human society? He would most certainly conclude that technology advances best in times of war, but he already has a group of Hunters that need to be kept in the best shape possible; he doesn't need to incite war himself.

Quote
Sigma is revered even as a guardian of humanity. So trying to kill them off... seems not so much logical, as simply hate inspired. And if there's one thing that an evil virus should do, it's inspire hate.

I wouldn't say hate... Much more a complete absence of compassion. Sigma doesn't seem to hate humans, he just doesn't care. Also, his plans don't just hurt humans; it's an evolutionary arms race that involves humans and Repliroids alike.

Quote
And put up some "no fleshbags allowed" signs to ward off wandering humans?

That worked so well when Epsilon tried it...

Quote
Red gives Axl his scars.

If we went by the concept art for Axl, I certainly find this feasible. But as it is right now, that scar is in an impossible to hit place, requiring even two attacks...

Quote
It also heals Axl's scar.

Remind me, does White Axl have the scar?

Quote
I think that X7 OST translation is also lacking. I thought there was a part that talked about them not being sure what buttons to map Axl's copy shot on or something in there too. Did Zan crop it for relevance?

"Robonyanya" did the translation, I don't think she did more...

To answer the original question, hell if I know.  There are a million ways to speculate on how the Copy Chip works and what kind of stress, energy consumption, damage, etc. may carry over from one form to another.  It may be that sufficient damage "knocks them out" of their transformation and back to their true form (seen in X8, but not in XCM).  It may be that bodily damage is repaired but their reactor goes nuts after too many fixes.  It may be that as the Copy Chip is refined multiple explanations may apply.  Or it may be that the game developers just don't give a damn.

Well, Redips is an interesting case study here. The battle with X, confrontation with Jango, hurting his arm saving Zero, sacrificing his life (faked, but in a facility only Incentas can freely teleport?..) And his miraculous recovery from damage by revealing his Spider form. He takes a lot of damage in his attempt to trick the Hunters. According to one of Capcom's concepts, he even copied wheel-chair bound Aile and ripped a card from his own body... (anybody still have the explanation for the multiple explanations revolving around Spider-Redips?)

But, I can't really conclude anything myself here, I've barely even fought the Cadres. >.>

same way not many know that Naruto is the fourth hokage's son. And the very same way that members of "Root" can't so much as speak of Danzo. Covered up. Danzo is a high authority in Konaha. He could--with effort, cover up his activities of stealing a Sharingan.

But a missing Uchiha is a missing Uchiha. The village would be in an uproar. It's a risky operation for Danzo not just for the possibility of getting caught; losing the secrets of their great Sharingan to an unknown adversary would damage the position of the Hidden Leaf toward the enemy.

Quote
his orders were to flat out -kill- Sasuke.

Not bring him back, not fight him so that his sharingan powers are shown, but to kill him, even in his sleep if he had to. Madara wants to use Sasuke....can't use something that's dead.

Keep in mind that not all orders to kill are just that. Within Danzo's hidden agenda, anything from a test, a warning, or careful manipulation could be the real goal. The order to kill ensures Sasuke's adversary isn't holding back, but what if Danzo had always expected Sasuke to come out on top? Especially with Madara using Danzo as an excuse to get rid of the other Kage, Danzo's ordering to kill Sasuke is surely giving him a message of his existence, forcing upon Sasuke more hatred toward the Hidden Leaf. Naruto just messed up whatever agenda Danzo could have had beyond wanting Sasuke dead.

Quote
I still find the idea that Danzo = Madara silly.

Like I said, it's one of three scenarios. Danzo and Madara could be working together to a single goal, whilst trying to avoid suspicison of their allegiance, or Madara is really just using Danzo like a tool. The fact remains that Madara is playing wonderfully on whatever Danzo has done and Danzou is taking equal advantage of Madara's actions.

Quote
Needless to say, now that Danzo is hokage--if he was also Madara--he could easily make Naruto disappear and into the hands of Akatsuki without many being the wiser.

They still need the 8-tail before even bothering with Naruto.. Aside from that, Madara on his own could have taken Naruto long ago. It just comes to show how much more involved Madara is with the careful progression of his big plan instead of getting the last of the tailed beasts quickly.

Quote
I'd like to add that it would not have been that difficult for Danzo to get the Sharingan. He could have simply had it plucked out from the guy that Itachi killed to obtain the Mangekyo Sharingan.

But Danzo had the hidden eye long before that.

I see that said a lot... but Danzo's sharingan ought to predate the Uchiha massacre; his right eye was obscured as far back as the confrontation with Nagato. How does Danzo obtain a Sharingan without the entire village being on high alert to protect its secrets? An Uchiha can't just go missing without dire consequences...
