I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned The Simpsons here. That twisted chronology is actually an occasional joke. Still, it's funny to see it now with them poking fun at Apple and Harry Potter, given that I grew up watching them in the early 90s.

What do you mean by "make money?" That tells me absolutely nothing about what kind of business you intend to operate.
The Internet is NOT a magical profit-source. If you have an EXISTING business, it's useful for reaching more people. You might be thinking about programs like Google Ad-Sense, but even then you need an already-existing site to use it on. It's illegal to profit from content that you don't own, so keep that in mind when deciding what content you're advertising on.
The Internet is still part of meatspace, it's not a separate entity. If you need a source of income, your best bet is to seek traditional employment.

My Rig:
AMD Phenom II X3 710 (OCed to 3.17Ghz, stock cooler)
4gb (2x 2gb) DDR2 800
Asus M3N72-D mobo (wish I had held out for an AMD chipset)
ATI Radeon HD 4850 512mb (will be going nVidia next time, since I got an SLI board)
500gb SATA primary, 1.5tb SATA secondary (NEVER run an OS on a "green" drive, they're only good for storage)
Hauppauge HVR-2250 (dual-tuner HD DVR card)
Windows 7 Professional
NZXT Tempest case
I upgrade maybe two things a year, but I keep everything around high-midrange. I'd rather pay less more often to be current than use the same system for 5+ years. It runs everything I can throw at it, the most recent challenge being The Last Remnant maxed out at 1920x1080.
