Come to think of it.

X really needed a pet sidekick.
But he has one, I don't think the gaming press would ever get it's facts wrong.

And the cateclysum lives on in our hearts.

also, @ Rodrigo, they never really decided on an ultimatum on Gate from my POV. they were discussing that it probably WOULD be for the best to reset him, but they never really came to a final desision, as all was interrupted by the weather.
It wasn't interrupted by the weather, Douglas had already left Alia to ponder what to do and just went back when he saw the snow falling. The way the story's handled it pretty much settles on Alia having the final world, and she herself was on the mindset of wiping his memory. If cleansing as much of the virus was possible, there would be no need, since that regardless of the betrayal Gate's actually concerned with the world at the start of the X6. The virus just brings out the worst there's in him, as it does to most Reploids.

and yeah, I agree that they would probably get it all wrong. for some reason, Cappys gotten worse with the X series storytelling after X6... something bout it has changed.
Trust me, you don't want me to go the whole nine yards there, besides that I do agree.

I'd like some character development too, but I can't help but feel they'd get it all wrong.
Sadly, I think you're right.

But I'd take my chances.

And on Iwata's doujin, while very nice on itself, I don't agree with their 'final solution' regarding Gate.

it really is a pity that Gate never got any further development after X6. he was such a deep character... with actual motives and quite a bit of interesting history. in the end, even though he was the main villain of the game, you still end up feeling sorry for him.
Truth was stated here. That's why I give him front and center in the story I'm developing.

If Capcom took a hint and used him again in any game I'd buy three copies.

The image is all kinds of awesome BTW.

Was X8 really no better than X7 to have gotten the same score?
Different reviewers.

And X7 getting a 7 out of 10 score is really the exception as opposed to the norm.

Completely!
Good Luck.

in reality, I didnt mind his X7 voice. only problem was the acting and slightly misplaced emotion.
At first I was like "Hey, this voice really works".

10 minutes into the game whenever X began speaking I was throwing my hands to the sky and yelling "SHUT THE [tornado fang] UP!".

The guy couldn't act for [parasitic bomb]. It was nigh monotone. Literal monotone.

I'm not really lawyering for Ivan or whatever, but it's really that until now I only heard good things about him. Out at the comics forum I hang at a guy wanted to do a course completing job for college and he wanted to do a journalistic take on how comic artists who work for the US do their thing. Ivan let the guy shoot his studio, gave him an interview, all that good stuff. The guy himself remarked he was rather nice to him all the way through.

Second half of 2008 he also participated in this forum's podcast, and he didn't really get anything from that 'cept just sharing how he works and having a good time all around with enthusiasts of his work. Far as I know he also gave some cryptic hints of what Johns is up to in GL.

Then after that some guys from this very same forum met up with him in a Con here in Brazil and after all was said and done he even hit the pub with 'em. So, yeah, I guess he had a bad day, he'd taken one down and hadn't sung a sad song just to turn it around.

And [tornado fang], why the hell can't X EVER keep one voice actor whether it's Japan or US? I really liked Gatha's work as him. I swear someone has a voodoo doll of X and keeps shoving nails on him. (heart-ripping notwithstanding)

Speaking of rough translations, I remember back in the day that a lot of Rockman & Forte ROM fan trans patches made up a lot of their dialogue, inserting things like "HADOUKEN" or "KAMEHAMEHA" for Blues' Big Bang Strike and such. And years later, a push for "Retranslation" patches for the X series games, by someone called TDOMMX IIRC, doing a mediocre job with the first X game and just dropping off the face of the planet sometime after that. Good times.
I don't remember whether I was on that game's credits or not - but I was in close contact with TDOMMX back then.

But the lead translator was Boco.

So, "Zero died in vain [like a dog]" became "You'll soon be reunited with your DEAR ZERO!". Whoddathunk eh?

I think that wasn't in the patched ROM itself, since before the ROM was released someone who knew more Japanese came in and debunked that and some other fanon unproperly labelled as such.

Wily paranoia was in full rage with "recent" gamebook info concering Serges and Isoc, so everybody was like "IT WAS SOMEBODY ELSE PULLING SIGMA'S STRINGS BEGINNING WITH X1!".

Editing-wise [altering the ROM structure to accomodate the different chunks of text], though, I think he did a good job. For what's written in the translation I can't vouch since I don't even remember the retranslated script and because of what I said above, but it was an honest effort. Both Xtremes were in the "ToDo" list, but then Boco quit the Community and TDOMMX got that thing we all need to get sooner or later: a life.

I never had much of a problem with transparency - one of these "CD-Rom magazines" that were all the rage here in Brazil before the Internet catched on came with a handy light program called "Microsoft Gif Animator" that made everything so much easier.

I just remembered a rather awesome bit of fanon. This cat here decides to attempt translating the climax of X3's manga. No scans. Just what's happening, and the pages.

And then where it should be "X" ("Ekkusu"), they put it as "YAKASA".

Don't ask me, but if this person can't get their katakana straight, I wonder about the rest.

For a small portion of the community for a while X's "true name" was "Yakasa".

Anime & Manga / Re: Casshern Sins
« on: January 13, 2009, 06:32:20 AM »
but didnt Lyuz's sister kick the bucket a while or so after getting beaten by Casshern? as in, she ruined?
Yes.

Chances are this might be a new character too, who knows.

And if you're going to think back on the whole POWER LEVELS LOL debate, I'm guessing Leda held herself against Dune. She wasted Lyuze good with a single blow.

I also have to say I was positively surprised to how this incarnation of Braiking is acting. It's not the movie Burai, but something inbetween the megalomanic from the vintage series (both of them) and him, at least how I see it. And he himself said he has to make amends for the world's current state.

But there was a rather cryptic remark on him about Ringo - "If I stay around her, it'll hasten my decay". And even on episode 13 itself it's like Ringo's ruin spot has vanished completely - we sure as hell should have been able to see it even with her hair covering most of it.

Who's the person lying next to Lyuze in the new ED? Hairshape is very reminiscent of Margo, but he kicked the bucket and it doesn't look like it has his weelchair bottom half here.

I half expected Lyuze to pull a Leda on Casshern. I was like "OK, enough repressed attraction, DO SOMETHING ALREADY". Well, they're on the road trip with a dog now, it's bound to happen.

Or not.

I really liked the new ED on that note. I found it pretty touching. The episode was better than the usual fare but I thought that Leda calling it quits was kinda hamfisted. Well, whatever. If Dune's returning, I hope Sophita shows up a second time too.

mmm? really? then Ill hold off for a while...
I just know that there is a rip around labelled as MMZOCW, so it should be the US version. Scan quality, or it being mislabeled for the japanese version or whatever, I don't know. I don't have the interest to check the book. I have the links though.

Im still wondering if Vixy wouldnt mind me scanning the english MZOCW and having it hosted on the site. (would eliminate the need for translations and stuff. plus id be like, right there.)
I think someone's already did that (in you case you want to save effort or what have you).

This was a fun one. Mostly on the brazilian side of things, although it found it's way once or twice to the boards I hung at.

On X5's final stages, before we learned of the whole Cyberspace mumbo jumbo, some guy who COULD read japanese (yes, he could) said in a brazilian forum: "HOLY [parasitic bomb] THE FINAL STAGE IS ONE OF WILY'S CASTLES!"

Fact, until everybody forgot about it, then when came that lil' about what the stage really was... well, nobody even remembered that anymore.

Translation:
Oh, you guys know I'm not one for euphemism. The animation's homebrew so I couldn't really even make bouncing out of it, just that the animation flowed nicely enough. I'll have to watch it a second time and appreciate the bouncing in all of it's glory if that's the case then. 8D

I like the subliminal VAVA. It's like when SomethingAwful tucked in a VOTE JOHN MCCAIN banner at the last second in their Phelps "homage". I shamelessly ripped them off to humor people later on for a NAdMM video.

Iris and Alia dancing in the video were very nice too. The characters seemed so vivid.

I think that was a central theme of a semi-famous fanfic that also included human characters who hated/feared robots. Was it called the Robot War, or the Wily War or something? Did Maelgrim write that? Someone do my research for me.
I recall Maelgrim having a fanfic with a title akin to that - but damned if I ever read it. My English was just starting to crawl back then, I could barely keep up an IM convo straight, let alone read literary works.
