Title: Windman isn't an Airman copy!
Post by: zuschzero on April 02, 2011, 12:31:12 PM
Some people says that Windman is an "Airman-wannabe" but I never really understood why. Sure both of them are air-themed bosses, but Windman's stage is very good, I love the ascending effect of the propellers and the flipping platforms. Airman's stage is good as well, but I have to say Windman's level is better designed. Maybe Airman's music is a bit better, but Windman's theme is catchy as well. Windman is the perfect example that an easy boss fight can be fun. He is fairly fast and he is always random about what he will doing. For example, no one says that Heatman is a "Fireman-wannabe", but Heatman is inferior to Fireman in terms of bossfight, stage, music, weapon.
Need some love for Windman!

Because Airman is more famous for being unable to beat.

Because Airman is more famous for being unable to beat.
Just for the record, you guys don't really believe that too, right? I'm getting sick of people who call themselves mega man fans saying how hard Air Man is to beat.

I always thought the whole "Can't beat Airman" thing was supposed to be sarcastic and based on Hyadain's one song.
Airman himself was laughably easy, even on hard. And this comes from a REALLY bad Mega Man player.

Lol, the song also says Woodman is impossible to beat. I don't think anyone takes that seriously, unless their only exposure to Mega Man is that one song. In which I don't think you can call yourself a fan.

By the way Acid, the song is actually composed/written (ie. melody and lyric) by Seramikarutitan, and the famous cover version is sung by Team.Nekokan. Hyadain has nothing to do with it. He's the guy famous for the Crashman, Flashman, Metalman, Quickman, Bubbleman, + Heatman remixes.
Actually I'd like to do a write-up on the Japanese Rockman utattemita/VGM remix scene one day. I've wanted to spread more information about it ever since Rockman Kai ~Arrange shitemita was announced.

I'm more concerned about this:

but Heatman is inferior to Fireman in terms of bossfight, stage, music, weapon.

I mean to each their own, but that is one hell of a claim. Most everyone will disagree with at least a quarter of that statement.

Heatman is bloody murder without Item-2 (or mesmorizing the block patterns), so it looks like you either conquered Airman rather early on the US "Normal" mode and/or hacked to get Item-2 without effort.

And yeah, Airman's rather easy. Woodman definately, One thing though, I can't seem to time my jumps against the sheild perfectly. Other than that, I rapid-fire on both their asses. Airman isin't as invincible as you think without his weakness weapon.

Aside from the "rip-off" accusations it's noted that both Wind -AND- Airmen have diffrent stage themes (AKA: The background and what they represent).

Airman is more focused on Air than Windman, he's focused on Wind which COMES from Air being blown around. Get what I'm saying here?

I never knew people thought Windman was an Airman Wannabe in the first place... The only thing they have in common are the fans. Plus I don't even remember Windman ever shooting air or wind at any point during the fight. Just those silly propellers.

Well, stage and music is arguable, but people who says that Heatman has better AI+weapon than Fireman is WRONG.

I'm sure some people like the raw power of that full charge shot.

I'm having trouble remembering if he does either. But I rarely play MM6. What can be said though is Wind Storm is a poor man's Air Shooter.

Windman fired propeller thingies.
And he sucked in air to pull you in close.
And he got up, moved over to your position and landed.
Repeat.

I dunno, I mean Air Shooter fires 3 tornadoes that do damage.  Wind Storm outright blows enemies and obstacles right off of the screen.  It's pretty much a Tornado Blow that can only hit one thing at a time.

Not really, Windman doesn't follow a repetitive attack pattern, he is always random about what he will do.

I didn't say repeat to imply that he follows that pattern.

Everything about Mega Man 6 had more polish to it. Though some aspects seemed a bit rushed, but it was a fitting way to end the NES era. That being said, Wind Man's stage was much more in-depth and detailed, and the music was in better quality (though not necessarily as memorable). Then again, had Mega Man 2 been released in 1993, we probably would've seen similar improvements.

Though just looking at the bosses, they both have air as a theme. That's it. Designs are slightly similar, but battle patterns are very different. Air Man takes a more passive approach, letting his tornadoes do all the work. Though he was easier to defeat, my favorite is Wind Man (with Air Man as a close second for favorite air-themed boss).
