Title: What Books do you currently have?
Post by: HyperSonicEXE on December 07, 2008, 01:41:37 AM
Biographies, novels, artbooks, cookbooks, even comics, anything goes except for Manga:
That's a whole other subforum.

Whipper snappers don't even want to use their own subforum, grumble grumble. :P

What Women Want Men To Know - Barbara DeAngelis
The Perfect Drink For Every Occasion - Duane Swierczynski
The Monopoly Companion - Philip Orbanes
Psychological Nudity - Michael Savage
The Friars' Club Encyclopedia of Jokes - H. Aaron Cohl, Various Authors
The Four Ingredient Cookbook - Linda Coffee and Emily Cale

Soon To Get:
Megaman 20th Anniversary Artbook - Capcom

Also, are books solely for nerds? I'd certainly think not. And while I wouldn't say it's exactly the mark of the intellect, I think a fair-sized library on special topics is healthy new information for the mind when the internet just can't seem to condense it into one easy place or one specific piece of information is too hard to find.

Haha, yeah, only Dan Brown novels... -u-'

I can't believe how few books you guys have. I don't even know the names of half of ours.
I suppose those that are more personally mine rather than the familys is a more reasonable list, though.

-Almost all of Terry Pratchett (30 or so)
-The Witcher & its followup
-All of Naomi Noviks Temeraire series (5)
-Series of books I can't remember, not got them on hand (3)
-All of Peter F. Hamiltons sci-fi (8 or so huge bricks)
-Wheel of Time (12)
-Stephen Donaldsons 'Chronicles of whatever' series (4-7 huge bricks)
-Windsinger? I forget its name. Ought to get the sequels.
-5 misc. mediocre books I don't want to read again
-Harry Potter books I guess

Actually, I have loads. I'd just have to spend 4-5 hours finding them all and then putting the resulting list in a spoiler tag to save space. I just listed the ones I've read most recently.

Oh yeah, a soon to get category. Good idea.

Like I say, I'm really wanting RM20.
But past that, I think I'm pretty well done with books for quite a while. This is the most I've read in...ages.

Japanese comics, yes.  But, as HyperSonic said, they go in a different thread.  So, my comment still stands.

I'd start up a "What Manga do you currently have?" thread on the Anime & Manga subforum, 'cept I don't own any, myself. I pass up issue 6 of the MMBN series every time I'm at Barnes and Noble, even though it's got Bass.EXE's origin story in it.

lol, discrimination of art styles of different countries.

I wonder what comics from Argentina have to called.  I mean Cybersix is an anime that originated from a comic books series from Argentina and the art style is VERY much the same.

life is fun 8D

well...I haven't read any of them ^^''''

That's right! There's not a "American Cartoons and Comics" board! For shame.

anything goes except for Manga:

Also, I think it's hypocritical not to allow Manga to be listed in here.  I, for one, like to stress that Anime and Manga are simply cartoons and comic books, just from Japan (or Korea nowadays).  I view Cowboy Bebop & Outlaw Star no differently than I view Batman: The Animated Series or James Bond Jr.  The same goes with me for comics, whether Japanese or US or from any region around the world.  Just because Manga has it's own section on this forum does not discount it as a book or reading, so I move that it be included in here, because not allowing it in is a form of reverse discrimination, IMO.   8D

Because it already has its own place! Everything else is kinda being lumped into here.

But, ah, what the heck, since nobody else is making a "What Manga do you currently have?" thread or something akin to it, go ahead and post it here.

I have loads of books here in my shelves, too many to list them all. Varying genres: sci-fi, fantasy entertaiment, comedy, socio-critical stuff and more. Though I have to say, books I own the most of are actually my Star Wars Expanded Universe novels *stands up to count* 42 in total.

In my personal opinion, this thread should be renamed "What are you currently reading?" or "Which book did you finish last"?

As for those matters, last book I finished was the English version of Iwasa Mamoru's "CODE GEASS - Lelouch of the Rebellion STAGE -0- Entrance", the prequel to the anime. I'm also about to finish a German book called "Generation doof - Wie blöd sind wir wirklich?" ("Generation doofus - How stupid are we really?"), which I bought back in Spring 2008 but never got to finish it due to other stuff catching my interest and getting in the way. I also should finally finish Sean Williams' "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" novel adaption. Guess what's keeping me on that is that I already know the end from the game despite never playing beyond the demo, as well as the comic/graphic novel.
