Kinda late to the party. My 'very original' thoughts:

6th FE rep seems extremely unnecessary, so I can understand the huge initial backlash (despite Roy being similar in Melee) since Corrin followed Cloud's announcement, which seemed to open up the floodgates for possible Smash candidates. I guess personally what's jarring is why FE gets so much spotlight when arguably Star Fox Zero and Xenoblade Chronicles X could use some promotion. I was thinking Corrin would've been saved for the inevitable Smash 5 alongside Splatoon, though seeing this will likely be Sakurai's last time as director and, let's face it, anime swordfighters sell (if Cloud and western demand for Isaac are any indication), I can see why Corrin would've been considered the most viable as DLC. That being said, Corrin, being the most controversial pick, is easily the target of backlash when x fanfavorite got shafted in Corrin's favor. Nonetheless, the whole dragon transformation undeniably looks pretty cool. (on that note, technically Roy is 'canonically' part Manakete, and Robin is Grima...)

I don't really have any strong opinions on Bayonetta. Looks cool, never played her games, and I personally am not in the belief that a more interesting/realizable character could've been in her spot anyways. If it wasn't obvious by now, Sakurai/Nintendo has a clear preference for Japanese characters. I really don't think Banjo & Kazooie or Shovel Knight stood a chance, let alone Golden Sun or *laughs* Donkey Kong Country/Metroid Prime.

Actually, I guess what's most surprising is how easy in theory it would've been to simply port Wolf, yet they still opted not to.

As for what his fourth B move would be, I believe his Limit Break deal is a special move that temporarily buffs his other specials, kinda like Deep Breathing and Lightweight.

Didn't watch the video so not sure if I'm repeating anything, but my guess is down B charges the LIMIT gauge, which buffs a special move for one use. Using down B again probably does Finishing Touch (as we didn't see a normal variant). That's probably his main gimmick: charges a Little Mac-esque Power Meter manually, which can be used in a variety of ways.

My guess is limit break will make all his moves a potential finisher if it lands, besides maaybe Blade Beam.

On amiibo, the Famicom Robot seems to be releasing outside Japan. Which peeves me since I already imported. :(

Guys, I think I may be Massive Hero Soccer Guy.

Haha, but yea I was thinking Cloud made perfect sense when I realized none of the other 3rd parties besides Mega Man are primarily associated with Nintendo anyways, it's all about iconic status and legacy. That, and picking someone like Cloud is perfect for creating controversy and thus word of mouth. Considering Ryu is promoting Street Fighter V despite its PS4 exclusiveness, I don't see why the same logic wouldn't apply to Cloud.

All things considered, it's pretty hilarious Cloud skipped out on PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale. haha

Okay yeah now looking back at the trailer since I didn't see the whole thing the first time the Midgar stage looks [tornado fang]ing awesome but its too bad it'll be totally unplayable with the ridiculous Spear Pillar esque nonsense going on with all the summons.

I'm guessing Red Materia act like Smash Balls, and whoever breaks it gets to use the summon (or rather, is invincible to it). Pretty cool for casual fun. Probably not so much in 1P modes, especially 8player smash against CPUs.

Looking forward to the next direct, hope there's a bunch of new character announcements.

I'm secretly hoping for Ice Climbers, just to make my amiibo collection line up perfectly, haha.

I was thinking of potential third party characters, and I could actually kinda see Cloud making the cut, given his legacy on JRPGs.

Just got TriForce Heroes and enjoying it so far (was always a fan of Four Swords-style to begin with). I agree that some stages definitely feel like they require some communication. I jumped straight to 4-4 after clearing the 1st world with my brothers, that ice serpent boss took a lot of teamwork. You need someone burning the tail, someone hammering his body to stun him, and someone aiming for his head to damage him. Was really fun and unexpectedly hard.

Probably only have time on the weekend though.

I feel like they should've at least unlocked a special weapon or 2. Just the buster gets kinda boring.

Also, got bored and set my score to 99999 and combo counter to 99. Slightly amusing to see a bunch of achievements light up at once.

"This project will only be funded if at least $800,000 is pledged by Mon, Aug 3 2015 11:30 AM PDT."

So, does that mean that if the goal isn't reached, that none of the pledges apply? Not really sure how this works.

Sad to think that his last public appearance was E3 2015.

http://kingdomhearts.wikia.com/wiki/Limit_Form

Notably, it replaces your Magic with the four Limits you had from Kingdom Hearts 1, which were Sonic Blade, Ars Arcanum, Strike Raid, and Ragnarok. The Form also gives you the Dodge Roll growth ability, and is done by lightly tapping square+direction (and Wisdom Form's Quick Run is now done by holding square+direction if both are equipped). It has its own finishers (Zantetsuken, Ripple Drive, Hurricane Period).

Having access to Form without needing partners essentially gives you another method for HP/MP heal when you're forced to solo. I don't remember how often that is because it's been ages since I touched Final Mix (I actually don't have the HD remixes since I lost interest with KH a long time ago, though that might change with III).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you only get three keyblades for that fight because you essentially steal them from Roxas if you pull off the Quick Draw sequence correctly.

Limit Form was particularly useful also in the sense you didn't need Donald or Goofy.

I think Mega Man being on a hiatus for so long is a combination of Capcom not knowing what to do with the brand and how risky AAA titles can be financially. It's obvious people want a Mega Man game and I'm sure Capcom knows that, but my guess is that Capcom isn't looking to make a MM game that caters to the 100,000 people that will buy it in a heartbeat, they want a MM game that could actually move millions of units. It's no surprise Capcom is funneling most of its budget towards Street Fighter and Monster Hunter: those things actually sell.

I mean, you guys realize, Mega Man 2 is only Capcom's 38th best selling game and doesn't even come close to top 10. Source

Also, by that list, the most recent successful Mega Man game was Battle Network 4, which was released in 2003.

Wolf is practically a given since Star Fox Zero is due Holiday 2015 and he can easily be ported from Brawl. It's not a coincidence the Falco amiibo is the last non-DLC character to be released.

In terms of the ballot, I personally doubt Nintendo is going to add a 3rd party character. All the 3rd party characters included thus far are extremely iconic (so iconic that even your nongamer friends can probably name them, or at least recognize them). Shantae and Shovel Knight are nowhere near their popularity and legacy, despite the vocal minority you often see on forums. Banjo Kazooie is Microsoft. Final Fantasy is primarily a non-Nintendo series now, and unlike Ryu, constantly changes its universes and characters (so unless you want Warrior of Light, Cecil, or Terra, FF is probably out of the question). Sora, also primarily non-Nintendo, gets tricky because he has strong associations with Disney and therefore doesn't really work well aesthetically as a standalone character. If Snake gets in, I doubt he'd be considered the ballot character just because a returning veteran would be underwhelming for everyone who didn't vote for him (and would kind of defeat the purpose of the ballot).

In terms of 1st/2nd party inclusions, I actually don't know, because I feel like everyone that should be in Smash 4 (aside from Wolf) is already in. Off the top of my head, the biggest contenders are King K Rool, Isaac from Golden Sun, and Splatoon inklings. King K Rool hasn't been that relevant since DK64, and Golden Sun has a lot of reasons going against it (only popular in West, Dark Dawn was poorly received, another anime swordfighter, etc).

So my prediction? Splatoon inkling.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if the retail art booklet (30+ page) is the same or different from the backer artbook?

Well, if my timing was right, I'll be Gofer #420 (lol) and #99 respectively. Assuming they do a numbering scheme like Mighty No 9...

I don't really see much point in the anime Kickstarter rewards. Like, unless I'm a super hardcore supporter of Inafune/Legends, everything is digital up until the $94 tier. There's not even a $40~$60 bluray physical reward? The only thing worth getting imo is the OST, and we don't even know the composer...

I know what Raikousen is, but the fact that they literally did two back-to-back iterations of midair L Raikousen with Sougenmu, it's undoubtedly a reference to what's called the "Lightning Loop" from UMvC3, a notorious combo that is one of the reasons why Zero is top tier in the game (aside from crazy mixups and buster cancelling).

And if you Google search it, this is one of the first few images that show up, lol:

On a different note, this is really frustrating not seeing anything regarding Wave 5A NA preorders. We have 1.5 week until July hits, and based on amiibo kiosks, it's very probable both Palutena and Dark Pit are exclusives (the latter, Best Buy), read: you miss the online preorder window, have fun hunting it in the wild or dealing with second-hand market.

I just imported Marth, Lucina, and Robin from amazon co jp using Tenso. I'm actually surprised that, in bulk, it comes out only $16/amiibo after shipping because of the exchange rate.

Oh, and if you're wondering why I didn't just import wave 5: I actually have a NA NiB collection that I display on my wall.

Been playing a lot of Roy lately, and his inclusion really sinks in the fact of how terrible Marth (and Lucina by extension) are in the current version. The lack of hitstun and amount of lag forces Marth to be a walling character rather than someone who can apply pressure and consistently string damage. And considering how many characters either have projectiles or insanely fast rushdown (or both!), Marth has so many poor matchups it's not even funny.

I've consistently seen tier lists where Marth is at the bottom (along with the rest of the Fire Emblem crew, though Ike was clearly designed for FFA/casuals), so I'm definitely not alone with this opinion.

Got really lucky with Lucina on Amazon, not so much with Robin. bleh

Ordered Robin from tigerdirect, expecting a cancellation. Worst case scenario, I'll just trade for him locally I guess.
