Humans have been "creating" souls in other humans since the dawn of the species. If some spiritual element is responsible for the souls in every human being despite the fact that other humans are the ones physically conceiving and producing other humans, then that same spiritual force can be behind inducting souls in robotic life.
This is a perfect way of explaining it.  Nicely put.

But he's full of rage and bitterness, so he's eating Mega Buster death.   :)

I just enjoy the fact that you get to kick the series baddie while he's down.  It's not often you get to see the main villain pjwned that badly in fantasy stories period, much less MegaMan.

That and the kickass form 2 music.  And the fact that it has the biggest, loudest, awesomest boss explosion ever (funny how that doesn't scratch Zero while X5's killed him; I guess Isoc/Wily planned ahead).
Co-signed on all accounts and for the last comment... could it be that Zero was destroyed in X5 because he and X already beat on each other prior to the Sigma fight?

I play for game and story. Gameplay is cool, but it feels bland when there's no reason behind it.
Exactly.  Story adds to the gameplay experience.  I like blasting Sigma (or Weil if you prefer), but the experience is all the more satisfying if Sigma/Weil went and did something really horrible in the story line (like manipulating thousands of innocents or killing off 60% of the human population).

As a result of Dr. Vile's ambitions, the Mother Elf was stolen and cursed to become the Dark Elf, the power that nearly destroyed the world. Using the Dark Elf and copies of the Dark Elf to control Repliroids and make these Repliroids fight amongst each other until none were left standing, the conflict known as the Elf Wars became the worst war in history. 60% of all humans, 90% of all Repliroids were wiped out. The conflict only heightened upon the completion of the messiah of his new world; Omega.

Using Dark Elf and Omega, he completed the operation to control all Repliroids. And using the satellite cannon known as Ragnarok he threatened to destroy the last remaining nature in the world, succeeded in killing the legendary hero Zero and remained a malicious force for centuries to come.

Tell me, how does he not exceed everything Sigma had done?
There would be no Dark Elf were it not for Sigma's work.  His legacy, too, spreads across the centuries, as the Sigma Virus remained in operation well into the back story of the Zero series.  I will admit that 60% human and 90% reploid worldwide casualties is a higher body count than any single event Sigma is responsible for.  But then again, how many times has Weil conceived to physically destroy the entire planet?  Humans, reploids, nature; everything?

And yet the ENTIRETY of the Zero series right from 1, is because of his actions.

without Weil, there would be no Zero series.
No Sigma, no Sigma Virus.  No Sigma Virus, no Maverick Wars, no Mother Elf.  No Mother Elf, no Dark Elf, no Omega.

On a completely unrelated and very ironic note, Sigma is probably responsible for saving mankind.  Remember that crazy, unstoppable reploid named Zero?  Sigma was pretty much the only one at that time with the power to stop him.  Without Sigma, Zero probably would have fulfilled that supposed title as a god of destruction.  Hmm, maybe that should count against his reputation as an extra nasty villain.

Never happened.
Sure, if we assume that the explosion that consumed Cain's domicile only raised the interior temperature to a comfy 74 degrees F.  At the very least, Sigma consciously attempted to kill his creator.

I find it difficult to believe I'm the only one who voted for Sigma.  I thought about voting for Copy X for the same reason Hypershell did, but then I had to take a look at the resumes.

Sigma has:

Very likely killed his creator, or at least attempted to do so (Maverick Hunter X)

Manipulated countless innocent reploids and watched many of them die (Vile, Zero, X, Middi, Techno, Doppler, General, Red, and nearly all the Mavericks)

Orchestrated the destruction of both the Sky Lagoon and the entire city beneath

Pointed a planet-busting weapon at Earth, attempting the elimination of both all humans and reploids

Forced the Eurasia colony into a collision course with Earth and risked planetary destruction just to turn Zero back to his original nature

Severely disrupted the cities and ecosystems of the entire planet, so much so that only reploids could remain on Earth's surface

The way I see it, only Weil comes close to the level of destruction and manipulation Sigma has achieved in his career.  But even Weil never conceived (nor achieved) planet-wide destruction.

Eh, I never stuck around to see it happen. Was lame anyways. He probably just drops spikes on you.
I waited just to see what would happen.  I still think the execution is kind of cool.

Looks more like they just wanted to sneak in X8's subtitle to the game in some form, so here's a generic one hit kill attack.
You have to admit that the darkness closing in (along with the building music) was a pretty cool effect, though.  Lumine's transition from an "angel of light" to an "angel of dark" also fits very nicely with the title.

Do you suppose its too much to hope that X Complete Works will have some design notes relating to the PL?

Well, Lumine is supposed to represent an angel gone bad, Lucifer, really, so its like, it cannot be comprehended. its just, some divine, evil force that just, kills you.
Well, I'm okay with Lumine having this "divine" ability, but only if there's a reason how/why he obtained this power.  For instance, Sigma can really hack huge chunks off your energy meter.  Reason: He's the strongest reploid in history.  Epsilon can reduce your HP to 1.  Reason: He can manipulate energy and his body utilizes Supra Force Metal.  Great Redips can completely dominate you at first.  Reason: He's equipped super-refined supra force metal.  Awakened Zero can insta-kill you.  Reason: The Virus unlocks his potential power.

No one else besides Zero and Lumine have instant kill techniques.  I guess I'm fascinated with why and how Lumine has such an ability.  He is, after all, a newcomer to the events of 21XX.

X / The "Paradise Lost" technique?
« on: August 24, 2009, 04:13:00 AM »
You know the one.  When X/Zero/Axl start to overpower Lumine in his final form, he releases a cascade of energy, turtles up, and the sky becomes dark.  If you don't defeat Lumine soon after this, he'll use an instant kill attack that annihilates your Hunter team.

My question:  Is there any official documentation on what Lumine's "Paradise Lost" is actually doing?  Reality warp?  Black hole?  Physical manifestation of the complexity of Milton?

I was just wondering in that level: Megaman , X and the others never had problems walking underwater....why is Trigger the only one who gets slower  o-O

I daresay Trigger isn't as strong as Rock and X.  Now, don't jump all over me, but you just don't see him physically doing what Rock, X, and their peers have done.

X / Re: How would you describe Sigma?
« on: July 30, 2009, 05:55:49 PM »
Sigma is exercising survival of the fittest to the extreme, with no compassion.  He sees humans as limiting Reploid growth and thus eliminating them as the ideal for his own kind's future.
This pretty much gets to the heart of the matter.  So, no, I don't think Sigma is insane.  He's coherently following a belief to its utmost conclusion.  And he's right in some respects.  The 21XX population of humans have some pretty major weaknesses and reploids often get treated pretty poorly.

Good to know.

It seems Livemetal has not just the DNA Program but the DNA Soul as well. However besides of the share of knowledge and the DNA modifikation on the host, there seems no temporary merge of the consciousness of host and livemetal into one, or is it just me with that assumption?
The host's individuality and personality remains intact, but can be influenced and overridden if the Livemetal wills it.  I think Serpent would be a good example of a livemetal user being controlled by a livemetal.

X / Re: What did Lumine mean?

This brings up another DNA related question:  In X6, Gate discovered a piece of Zero and continually makes reference to Zero's DNA.  Was he referring to DNA Program, DNA Soul, or something completely different?

Also, the Guardians in the Mega Man Zero series are said to be derived from X's DNA.  Which kind of DNA would that be?  Given the above examples, and since Axl copies DNA data to change his body, wouldn't the function of reploid DNA be analogous to human DNA?  If it were so, this would facilitate the self-repair abilities some reploids have displayed as well as a reploid's ability to grow from a childlike body into an adult one.

X / Re: How exactly was Wily brought back by the virus?
« on: July 20, 2009, 03:06:52 PM »
How does one assume humans have a 'Soul'? How does one assume humans don't have a 'Soul'. How do we assume any other form of life on this planet has either/or? Life is a natural bias standpoint. Since in life, we know nothing of death. And such, when death occurs, we cannot return and share the experience. When alive, everything knows life. When dead, everything experiences such and continues... Soul, Self-Awareness, intelligence... All one sided to what Life can teach, and for humans to at least interpret...
Okay, I was discussing the Mega Man Franchise, not our reality and our philosophy.  In the Mega Man Franchise, it is stated that Souls/cyberelves/insert-your-synonym-here exist.  We have not defined how they exist within the franchise as it relates to Wily, humans, reploids, and mechaniloids.  We need that definition.
