I like the boss designs in that series, but the overall tone's just too bleak for my liking.

Souls series has such wonderfull art deisgn. 

Been thinking of writing about my Souls character and do an original story myself with all this story crafting lately.

I only started writing 'cause I can't draw for toffee right now, but apparently my stuff's rather decent. I always enjoy reading, so if you've got an idea you think could work, go for it!

Just not sure if I want to do small little lore tidbits or a full on story.

Depends what you're aiming for, I think.

I do both, and I find the shorter tidbit/omake style ones are easier to write generally,'cause I don't need to script so much. That said, one the rare occasions where I feel like I've really nailed a longer story/oneshot, it's a good feel.

Just go with whatever feels comfortable, I guess. Feel free to crib stuff off me if it helps, it's all in the same place now.

Ruelia has a long and storied history but I feel it would drag-almost want to do short stories on various elements essential to her-and let people fill in the gaps with what I give them.

If I'm remembering what Ammy told me correctly - and this is the principle I applied to my initial post in Wilypocalypse once I got my new headcanon sorted - it's better to start partway in and tell the rest through flashbacks and side stories as necessary.
