I don't think size would be the only issue with an animatronic.  I mean for one TV shows don't have as much budget as a movie.  Not to mention the time to make one and the time to test it.

To them, everyone must be fit and attractive. Just look at Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries; all the characters are either hot or attractive, because CW dictates that they have to be.
