I didn't see a thread about it, so I decided to make one.

So...does this mean some of you ambitious people are going to try some projects, hmm? :)   It's still in the beta stages, but I see a lot of potential coming out of this baby already. I've got plans for sure for this thing, though I might need to find someone to do art, extra coding, etc.

Time for a classic mod. Yes even the sprites.

Nice.  I just hope that dash-length modifier includes an "infinite" mode.

Yea, I've played around with some of it already. It's got a pretty decent level editor, and has most of the text readily available to edit. Right now, the only sprite you can edit is X's, IIRC. Also has some ROM tools that will fix the checksum and remove(maybe add?) any headers.

I want an Object Editor and a Music Editor though. That would be awesome.

Just make sure to use a V1.1 ROM if you want to play around with the Engine Editor. It will screw up your game if you mess with the engine on a V1.0.

I was thinking one could set air-dash length to infinity, or at least very high, then make some sort of "flying through the clouds" level.

There is no air dash in X1. But an otherwise excellent idea.

Rats. Forgot that.
Well, if it lets us edit the engine, it might not be too hard to enable..

It would be an interesting idea, but I think there would be far more technical aspects to consider in the level. If it's a gradius-style zing through the clouds, what about up and down movement, since you can't normally do that during a dash? I don't mean jumping and falling, but actual vertical movement itself. Just one example.

Yeah, there'd have to be more to it than a straight dash.

This is why we need Falcon Armor and that unused UA Jet Sled...
