Well, technically, Black lanterns do similar. Kill, and reanimate the corpse. After all, like PB said, BL's dont wear the ring, the ring wears them. They are under the control of Nekron and Black hand really.

Okay, this isn't really a story so much as it is an explanation as to how and why Sapph has a Blue Lantern Ring.

After saving his world from the Onyx General, the Sapphire Knight seemed to lose his sense of identity, and eventually left to find where he did belong. During his journey, the knight came upon several other worlds, each under the control of an evil dictator of sorts. And with each planet he visited and freed, he also spread hope, the only thing allowing him to do so being the hope of finding his niche in the galaxy. Some time after arriving at RPM, the empty feeling returned, and he left for a short time to find out who he was. He returned a Blue Lantern, presumably of a neighboring sector.[/spoiler]

Nice back story,it makes sense as to why he joined the blue lanterns. Though it seems like a short explanation. Still nice and short.
