G2 wasn't bad either. But yeah, G1 is the best in the series.

I agree with you Acid in all points. The first Grandia was the best and the only one in which I cried so many tears.
Now to the trailer.
It seems to take place after the first game, but just because we see Liete, it doesn´t mean that this Liete is the same which joined Justin, Feena and Rapp. It could be a former Liete or the sucessor of her.
At least there could be the possibility to see Feena and Justin as adults.

Grandia 2 was fun... until you got Sky Dragon Slash. After that, for some reason the game just felt... eh.

As for the topic at hand, I just hope it won't dissolve into generic MMO territory, which it unfortunately probably will. Too bad, that.
