You guys are however wrong. Light Luke is a good boy, it's just that Death Note made him evil.
DEATH NOTE MAKES PEOPLE EVIL, YA KNOW?!

No. Death makes people dead.
Yes, but it also has that special addition of making their user evil, and make him commit crimes. Well, according to this script at least.

Oh, and there's no "JUST AS PLANNED", nor "I WILL BECOME GOD OF THE NEW WORLD".

Dragon Ball I could forgive, but THIS.

If this [parasitic bomb] is true... I will... I will... just [sonic slicer] and moan some more. : /

Oh yeah, I skimmed through that script once.  It actually did use a lot of the events from the early chapters of the manga.  I can even sympathize with the desire to remove the Shinigami.  Sure they gave the Death Notes a reason to exist and someone for our protagonist to talk to, but they also followed a lot of silly rules that seemed to have been contrived just to make the plot work the way it did.

But what did bother me was that it looked like they were having Luke start using the Death Note out of revenge for the murder of his mother, to try to justify why he would do all that, while I prefer the themes of the original story that power corrupts, and it's the nice, smart people who have the furthest to fall.  It's simply a much juicier story for the guy to become a murderer due to idealism rather than trauma.

Money. Fans and other people will be watching it anyway, and that's how the companies get something back (or lose some). >U<

Why not just NOT make the live action.
Ater all, there already IS a live action Deathnote Movie. Which has been dubbed. And is readily available at your local best buy.

If this [parasitic bomb] is true... I will... I will... just [sonic slicer] and moan some more. : /
Ill just ignore and pretend it doesnt exist.
also, if this is true, then Its officially worse than what 4kids could EVER do to it. I mean, the worse they would do is remove the killing and put in LOL SHADOW REALM.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Removing the killing from Death Note?
Jesus, there would be absolutely nothing left.

Just the title? Well, I guess it does reek of American made-ness. it radiates a fouls stench that can be smelled from outside the topic.

Uh... It's mostly just the Death Note part. I saw that [parasitic bomb] once, & it was enough. Having to sit through ads would be torture. Is this going to be like a big deal? Are they gonna run TV ads?

I hope not. Having seen the japanese live action movie(s) I dont think anything the US can do, much less Hollywood, can be any better than even the cartoon... I mean, seriously. this is Hollywood.

I find it very interesting that we have such drastically different opinions of Death Note, & yet we both abhor the concept of a Death Note movie. Though, I don't see why you hate Hollywood so much. Dragon Ball Evolution was fantastically everything I expected, & Astro Boy looks pretty good.

I dont hate Hollywood. But Hollywood and anime just dont mix. Hollywood and Video games dont either. just look at Legend of Chun Li.
and of course, this upcoming Deathnote movie.

They just change way TOO much things. Sometimes they really ruin it.
