I saw Ninja Scrolls a while ago, and it reminded me of how crazy, violent, sexually graphic, and over the top old anime movies were.  So now I'm on a quest to find all the old anime movies I couldn't see as a kid.

The ones I remember seeing are both Vampire Hunter D movies, and Akira, which I think everyone has seen.  Then there was this one about some android girl in the future who had a child with a human and there was this evil cooperation making evil android girls... or something like that.  The ones I saw on video always had advertisements for Bio Hunter and Berserk, which I never saw.

Has anyone seen Mezzo Forte?  Thanks to the internet, I know that for a 10 year old movie the sex scenes are better animated than the majority of actual hentai titles, so I'm curious if the rest of the movie is good.

i'd say so. the fight scenes are bloody and stylish. just what you'd expect.

What happens in Vegas stays on Youtube. I also stream on Twitch from time to time.

Great.  I'll have to obtain that by completely legal methods.

the movie has not that great of a plot, but good animation, and action scenes.

I personally prefer Kite.

as for 60s-90s anime movies, Fist of the North Star anyone? or Macross (the one w/ the singing girl to end the war), or Gunbuster (well OVA, but hell it's great), or Ghost in the Shell~, or Venus Wars, or Black Magic M66, or Blade of Kamui (I liked it), or Curse of the Undead, Yoma, or that Ninja Gaiden movie 8D, or well by now DB OVAs...anyways...i'll stop.

Is that Armitage? I forget.

It's been a while since I've seen those.  The last old school anime I saw was probably Nausicaa & the Valley of the Wind.

I can't remember too many old ones, aside from Akira, that I've seen (in fact, I think that one may be it). The only other ones I've seen were Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and bits and pieces of Princess Monanoka or whatever.

What was that one called with the sexy mermaid ladies?  I remember seeing parts of it and thinking the plot was really ridiculous, something like humans being at war with shark people.  It might have been more recent, but I might want to watch the full thing one day.

Satoshi Urushihara made some great stuff. But I don't know if you like his style.

Macross Plus also had a movie version.

Perfect Blue is about a year older than Mezzo Forte. It's a psychological thriller about a pop idol who decides to move on away from music and runs into some problems.

And a damn good one. Kept me on tenterhooks for the entire duration of the movie. Highly recommended.
