Original / Re: Mega Man 10 stage route.
« on: April 13, 2010, 12:16:47 AM »
I just started playing MM10 last night and went to Pump Man first (was too scared to do Blade Man first because I know he's tricky if you don't know his pattern). I died a few times fighting him but once I beat him, I got one of the best weapons in the game. From there, I took on Solar Man, who dropped like a BRICK to Water Shield.

Water Shield may not be Jewel Sattelite (hey, what is, right?), but it gets the job done.

Original / Re: Megaman 9 vs Megaman 10's music
« on: March 12, 2010, 03:50:29 AM »
I listened to MM9 and MM10's music back to back. I'd almost forgotten how great MM9's music is. Concrete Man, Galaxy Man, Tornado Man, Hornet Man, We're the Robots, the robot master Boss music, all glorious themes. Though I gotta deduct some points for the recycled use of MM2 music. As much as I love MM2's score, it just wreaks of laziness. Also, I felt MM9's title and opening themes weren't as strong as past games. Don't get me wrong, they aren't bad by any means, they just don't grab me the way the other games did. Really though, at the end of the day, there's so much good about MM9's music that the good trumps my gripes.

When I heard that nearly everyone that worked on MM music in the past was making music for MM10, I was overjoyed, especially when I saw Bunbun listed as a composer. With so many composers on board, MM10's music may not sound as catchy as MM9's but it does sound far more distinct and I think it may take some getting used to for some. Chill Man has quickly become one of my favorite MM songs ever and I listen to it daily on repeat. The Opening(s) and Title music is also superior to MM9's IMO. The Special Stages themes, which are stellar arrangements of the three Rockman Killer themes from the Rockman World games, are some of the best pieces of music to ever happen to the Blue Bomber. What I feel is easily the weakest tune in the game would be the robot master Boss theme. It just doesn't stack up to MM9's or other MM Boss tunes. Outside of one Wily Stage themes, I lean more towards MM10's instead of MM9's Wily themes, but I still have much love for Flash in the Dark and We're the Robots.

MM9's music is great composition, but more often than not, it feels like it tries to be more catchy above all else. That certainly isn't bad and MM music is known for being catchy, but MM10 feels like it tried to go beyond that, and that makes it win big points in my book. That being said, it really is tough to pick one over the other so I think I need more time before casting a vote.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance. I finally collected enough dog tags to get stealth and infinite ammo! I was already have fun without 'em but discovering the joys of both in the first MGS, I had to get them in MGS2.

Just finished Mega Man 2 on difficult again. Probably played through this game so many times over the years that it just doesn't seem hard to me.

Next up is Mega Man X3 on the Mega Man X Collection. This is my least fav X games of the SNES X games, but I wanted to unlock Battle & Chase so it can't be helped.

I used to expect some of those statues to come to life and jump down on me.  So disappointing when they all just stayed there.

Ha, same here! I didn't get to that level until years later and an experience with Super Metroid scared me for life.

It actually took me some time before I recognized Special Stage 1 and 3 but Special Stage 2 I knew in a heart beat. And I thought Capcom had all but forgotten the World games.

Been stoked for this ever since it was announced. There was a time that I thought this would never get translated and put in stores. If I have any cash left after the usual bill payments this week, I think I'll treat myself to a copy.

Wily's man-crush for Guts Man was actually evident in the first MM game. Weren't there like a ton of Guts Man statues in the final level?

I can't wait to get my Wii and go through this game. I played MM9 on pal's Xbox 360 and dang, does that D-pad take some getting used to. The game pad I use for my PC feels way more comfy.

Splashman, much thanks for riping MM10's music. It's becoming one of my favorite MM scores. And Proto Man has the best shop music of the three. That theme is so good that it needs to be played in stores when people go out to shop.

That cover is full of insta win. I hope Chill Man's theme gets an amazing arrangement. It's my fav track in MM10.

That commercial was MEGARIFIC!  >0<

BUN BUN!!! I've waited YEARS for him to do more MM music!!  >0<

Good news, indeed. I already own all four Zero games, but I'll still buy this if it gets localized. As for extras, I'm not getting my hopes up until I hear anything more.

I must have really been out of the loop because this is my first time hearing about this game. Looks very promising. Consider me stoked.

Got a lot on my plate at the moment.

Started up Gran Turismo 4 over the weekend. Took a few days but I got my B license and have won a few races and upgraded my Lancer.

Started a new game of Katamari Damacy because I never did finish that game when I started it years ago. Also, my first PS2 memory card that had the data on it was lost.

Beat Mega Man 1-4 on Anniversary Collection. I'll move on to MM5 sometime this week.

I had a good day. Started watching Kim Possible again and actually started and finished a review for Crosswords on the DS. Hooray for overcoming laziness.

Music by Manabu Namiki, Yoko Shimomura, Manami Matsumae, Norihiko Hibino, and more~

As much as I loved MM9's audio, this sounds like a freaking dream team for MM10's soundtrack!!!  >0<

Ha ha, Commando Man looks freaking sweet! I've wanted to see the return of robot masters like him.

Gotta say, though, I am bummed that Mega Man won't be able to slide again.

I'm apprehensive more than optimistic. If the gameplay is going to be reduced, again...

I hear ya. Perfectly legitimate concern. As much as I love MM2 I don't want every classic MM game from here on out to try and mimic it.

Also, they've never been afraid of silly robot masters IMO!

Yeah, I meant to say that.

I've always thought Bubble Man looked kinda lame but I like him anyway.

I love how Capcom isn't afraid to get straight up silly with the robot masters now. I mean, Sheep Man? That's so off the wall that it has to be cool!  8)

But oh, please, God let there be faaaaaaaar less spikes this time. >^<

Translated the track names~

The album art alone got me interested to check this one out. Much thanks, Vixy.

I cannot believe I've gone so many hours without finding out about this game until a little while ago. Can't really say anything that hasn't already been said so I guess I'll let the smiles do the talking.
