X / Re: Sigma's Belial Form (X8)
« on: February 12, 2010, 02:26:39 AM »
Besides the obvious fact that Albert's soul is elsewhere, Albert has no known combat abilities without the use of Model W.

Doesn't Albert have the ability to use A-Trans, the very reason why Model A is able to use it?

If you try to write it all off as one giant coincidence, then you need to ask why Albert's "copy", who bears no resemblance to his character, appearance, or abilities (save A-Trans) whatsoever, rebels against not only him but his entire philosophy.

Except, why would he use the soul of a Maverick hunter to power his back-up system? Did he not bother looking up his history? Was he planning the entire rebellion and called everything 'apart of his plan' in some Aizen-esque ass-pull and then expect to some how harvest the power? Then again, his entire plan has a [parasitic bomb]-ton of plot holes and stupid, so the real question is, who the [tornado fang] thought that making Model A be Model Albert period, or even having Albert create the thing, was a good idea?

Anyway, back on track, Sigma's a douche. seriously though, I'm getting a headache from the plot of ZX Advent.

Those hint at Wily being them, but never outright says it, ZX Advent flat-out states it.

"Though the design of the biometal is heavily based on Axl, a character from the Mega Man X series, the in-story explanation is that it is a backup system for Albert." --MMWikia. No hinting, no guessing, Albert just says that Model A is Model Albert and uses it as his data storage device. It looks a helluva lot like Axl, but it isn't.

Rockman Series / Make a series!
« on: February 11, 2010, 07:00:26 AM »
Who here has come up with some interesting ideas for a new series? Would you make a fighting game, an RPG, or a simple platformer? This is mainly for those that want to make it, but have no real way to make it without spending a significant amount of time and effort into just creating one level using a basic engine.

Caution: HUGE read ahead if you give a damn about my idea.

[spoiler]I don't know how this came about in my head, but this idea has slowly been evolving for some time now. It's crazy and possibly stupid sounding, but hell, we love a series about a robot that fights other robots based on refrigerators and Transformers.

In an alternate time-line, the world is still controlled by various monarchies. However, technology has evolved over time and the pinnacle of the era of robotics is at hand. A kingdom is at war with their rival, and the two lead scientists have just created a special armada to fend off their enemies. Dr. Light has created the Orchestral Knights, with Rock the Blue Knight, Forte the Black Knight, Blues the Red Knight, Roll the Pink Knight, Ballade the Purple Knight, Punk the Yellow Knight, and Enker the Orange Knight making the team, while Dr. Wily has created the Ultimate Nine, Satellite Man, Temp Man, Bolt Man, Aero Man, Laser Man, Hydra Man, Helix Man, Galaxy Man, and Judgment Man. With these 16 powerful robots, the Kingdom wins the war, but only Dr. Light is praised and honored. Feeling contempt and hatred, Wily begins to betray his country, and sells blueprints to other robots to other warring countries. After reprogramming the 9, Wily is discovered and is declared a traitor, and promptly leaves with the 9 to side with one of his customers.

More or less a carbon copy of the Original's backstory, minus the Rockman Killers and Forte being built by Wily. Doesn't mean they stay on the same side though :P The gameplay is that Rock and Forte use Busters, and the weapons they obtain from the 9 are more or less the same, at least as far as weakness' go. There are some differences, like the weapon gotten from Hydra Man is the Triple Flame, which shoots out a spinning wheel of fire. Rock's version covers more ground by spreading out slowly, while Forte's version stays fairly close together but goes forward (however it can't hit three times, the flames pass through enemies and if any activate the flinch then the rest do nothing). Ballade is similar to Rock/Forte and uses literal hand cannons to attack. His versions are slightly more powerful than Rock/Forte's but require either more energy or a bigger stall time. For example, Hydra Man gives him Triple Blast, which is pretty much a ring of explosions flying forward, but sending Ballade back a bit.

Blues and Roll both use swords and follow a similar formula to Rock and Forte. Hydra Man gives them Triple Tech which for Blues allows him to do three attacks at .7x the strength at the same time (meaning it's essentially little over twice as strong as his basic attack), while Roll does three slashes in a combo, doing more damage, but being less useful in boss fights due to flinching. Enker uses a Lance(/Javelin/Spear) and while being somewhat similar to Blues and Roll in basic attacks, he gets Triple Lunge, which makes him dart past a set distance and has a bigger attack range the entire time by having two other lance's appear diagonally upwards and downwards blow and above his original lance (respectively), and then cross over with the attack, with the middle (where all three lances are at the same spot), dealing over 6 times the amount of damage to whatever is caught in it, while all other enemies at any other point in the path only take twice.

Punk uses his fists to attack instead of other weapons. Beating Hydra Man gives him Triple Beat which sends out three punches forward, but the last punch is a small uppercut. All characters also start out with a unique super weapon that can be used either 3 or 5 times. Rock gets Soul Blast, which is essentially a charge shot that's twice the size and damaging as a full charge, Forte gets Earth Crusher which causes him to lunge forward a bit and send out a shockwave of energy, Blues gets Great Slash which cuts everything on screen in an instant, and Roll gets Tornado Drill which makes her drill forward (or backward, she can only move in two directions, but if used in the air she'll stay there for the attack). Ballade gets Crazy Barrage which bombs everything forward and a bit behind, Punk gets Energy Charge which restores 1/10th of his health and throws out a super charge shot similar to Rock's, and Enker gets Death Lunge which makes him leap into the air, and then crash down, causing rocks to fall down from above.

The levels are similar to the way S&K3 is played and that certain characters with certain 'types' of a special can go on a different path to reach a different end. I haven't come up with a reason why you'd want to go down them as far as a reward is concerned, but I'm thinking Rush/Gospel upgrades for Rock/Forte, Beat for Roll, Tango for Blues, and Items for Ballade, Punk, and Enker.[/spoiler]

I'm going with what the game said, and I never found anything related to Axl unless it didn't get translated into English and left behind in Japan.

Like I said, I call it a BS twist, since everything points to Axl, but the game doesn't say it and calls it something else.

And why can't A be Axl..?
Also, im sure there WILL be an X9. Inafune I think said he would like to return to X some time, he's just "busy"

[spoiler]Because it's apparently Model ALBERT. Like I said, Axl got cameo'ed in a bull-[parasitic bomb] plot twist. [/spoiler]

I have a feeling that Inafune is trying to get the plot to end with Axl being ignored somehow and focus on the events leading up to the Elf Wars. I highly doubt he's going to want to bring Sigma back, especially if he wants the canon to make sense and not bull-[parasitic bomb] us on purpose.

I'm kinda surprised no one's mentioned anything I said, for better or worse.

Also, agreed with Flame, nothing was mentioned about that ship and so it could have been anything. If there isn't going to be an X9, then odds are we can assume it's not Sigma and that the Elf Wars occur shortly after X and Co. get back to Earth and at some point Axl gets killed off and made into a biometal in ZX Advent gets cameo'ed in a bull-[parasitic bomb] plot twist.

I know right?
I just want a pokemon game where you can choose something other than battling.

Personally I want one where you control the little suckers instead of essentially commanding them. You could make a pretty damn good fighting game with the right set-up, like each move being 'equippable' and costing x amount of points to equip so that the game isn't too broken, but each character still able to level up and whatnot. There's enough bi-pedal 'mons to work with it, and even so, you can still have the four legged Pokemon battle somehow.

^^It may be your internet connection. The fight with me and Aqua turned into more or less a bloodbath because my attacks were just NOT happening. Each saber slash from Zero took more time to do online than the entire combo offline while Aqua murdered me with a good set of combos.

Really? That doesn't sound right at all. Are you sure that's Hadangeki and not just his 6H?

Hadangeki is a purple slash attack, and I just hold forward and I do a purple slash attack after his Heavy attack is done. I couldn't believe it either, I kept holding back then right near the end I pushed forward and attack but a couple times I screwed up and just held forward, and noticed that I did a purple slash attack. I did it on the Gamecube Controller if that helps.

Maybe for you, I was lagging like a mother-[tornado fang]er >< Every time I knocked you up I tried to do an air-combo but the damn thing wouldn't register until you already came back down and hit me. Hell, the super combo at the start wasn't even right >< The fact that Zero would swing his saber slower than a turtle when I was mashing the next level of attack proved that as well.

Oh well, guess I'll have to wait until March to get online, and by then I doubt there will be as many people playing :\ [tornado fang]ing Charter internet ><

And that my friends is why charge motions exist...

Doesn't really matter. The attack itself is actually broken, you can hold forward and STILL do it. One of the prime ground combos I found for Zero was L-M-H-Hadangeki and all you have to do is hold forward while Zero does his Heavy attack and you'll go right into it, even though it's a back-charge-forward attack.

^It'll probably stay the same, I doubt they'll raise the EV cap anytime soon, and even if they did, the end effect wouldn't change anything unless they ONLY changed the total limit, but then why bother?

The one thing I hate about any given generation reveal is the amount of fakes that show up and the misinformation that's bound to appear. I'm seriously not buying a single thing unless Coro Coro confirms it (they're the ones that are usually posting the latest up-to-date news about Pokemon for Japan).

Alright, thanks Ben. Once I get the hang of using those two (or at least Baroque, maybe advanced guard if I can get the timing and buttons right), I'll probably post up my WiFi. I got aerial combos down tight, and with luck I can combine a string I have in mind using Baroque to deal some hurt.

I got most of the gameplay down now, but I'm still having some trouble with some things. For one, what do Baroque combos do and how do you get two supers going at the same time? I know you can do a 'chain' and go from one super to another, but I also know you can do each characters super at the same time, and I can't get it done. I did what the instruction manual said but nothing's happening.

Well they were in 2,(tails) 3 and SnK. if Tails isnt at least in there, theres no excuse for it really...

It'd be great for 2-people multiplayer as well, just have Tails go right through sonic like he would have done before. Sure, it may look graphically weird, but it wouldn't hamper game play (unlike another certain multiplayer platformer on the Wii), and heck, they could probably do the same thing in Sonic 3 and have Tails grab Sonic in the air and fly around a bit with him.

Plus, I doubt it's JUST going to be Sonic. This IS just episode one they're talking about, Tails and Knuckles appear are much more likely to appear later on, if nothing else as DLC with some areas being hidden just for them ala S&K3.

Use Zero and spam Hadangeki, Charge busters, and Rekkouha. (Sougenbu is a plus) Kills all 3 forms easy. then once Yami 3 is a few hits away from death, switch out and have the second character KO him.

Awesome.

Any combo tips or advice in general for Zero or Onimusha guy?

Of course, Ho-oh does have the whole rainbow thing going.

I always interpreted as Ho-oh being colorful, while Lugia being colorless. Still, I'm glad that it's not a Water/Flying, otherwise it'd be a bit hard to actually use.

What, with pokemon named after the planets? Then that would mean... *counts on fingers* About 7 more legendaries, as more often than not, Earth (or Terra) gets left out of that equation and Pluto's not a planet anymore (which I believe to be bull [parasitic bomb]).

There's also the possibility of having universe or galaxy-based Pokemon if they don't want to have expies of Sailor Moon.

^Yeah, I'd have to second that. There's so many assist characters, there's a good bet only a select few are permanent, and I'm willing to bet it'll be the ones that aren't 'original'.

I got the game yesterday and I managed to unlock Zero today. I'm hopin' to unlock the others over the weekend, but I'm having some trouble beat Yami, and I don't want to be reduced to setting the game to easy mode just to unlock the characters. Part of the problem is when he spams his freakin' health absorbing move which is unblockable in the first form, and then the most damaging move in the third form is a grabbing attack, which can't be blocked and without enough sp, you can't use a Mega Crush to break out of. Any particular regular character that's effective against Yami without having to switch so much?

Frank's kinda odd to use, since most of his attacks are using the funky combination that's hard to register just right. The Onimusha guy's pretty good, I think I've managed to use his rising attack move just right to start an air combo (now I just have to master it then go through with an actual combo ><)

Great game, horribly overrated.

Ditto, the game was fun, but the whole multiple ending deal doesn't work well with a sequel since you have to pick from one of the endings to make canon or otherwise change the events that happen afterwords.

X / Re: How is X the first robot to "think and feel"?
« on: January 26, 2010, 06:39:16 AM »
I'd assume that the robots could be easily reprogrammed to think differently, or their range of emotions weren't that great. X however, felt an actual conscience instead, and simply couldn't be reprogrammed if push came to shove.

Either that, or the very Suffering Circuit that's in him is the reason why he's so special.
