Well this is random.

My question is why they waited so long, unless it's been going on for a while and this is the first anyone has heard of it.
-
I have a feeling that this may end up being settled out of court. Nintendo certainly has the money and lawyers to do so.
-
Most likely nothing will come of this.
-
Most likely nothing will come of this.
I honestly think the same way.
-
Remember that one time that Nintendo got patent trolled and they won so hard the accusers had to actually had to hand over their portfolio of patents?
-
Yeah this is probably ending with nothing but CDi jokes.

That's literally how I broke my friend out of confusion/shock that this is a thing.
-
Hey, remember when Uri Gellar sued Nintendo? Yeah, he lost and it was settled out of court. The only possible consequence of that suit was that Kadabra hasn't appeared in the TCG since Sky Ridge. Now if you'll excuse me, I have an Uri Gellar of my own to raise... 8D
-
I'm with you on that question of why they're waiting so long. I mean, if this has to do with the Wiimote motion tech... They're like eight years late.
-
Also, the Wiimote uses BluTooth, whereas I'm pretty sure the CDi's wireless controllers were infrared. BluTooth wasn't really a thing at that time.
-
IIRC, Nintendo also had a patent problem with the GameCube's dual sticks. (Don't quote me on that though.)
Nintendo's got problems with controllers, man.

This is the art describing one of the patents Nintendo is supposedly infringing on.
-
HOW DARE THEY INFRINGE ON BAD MSPAINT DRAWING PATENTS :W
So, what I gather from that pic is that Nintendo is supposedly infringing on motion controls. News flash, Phillips. I highly doubt you were the first to think of them.
-
Really? What I got from the picture was a girl holding a thermos with an umbrella on it having a staring contest while a burglar/stalker stares at her from out the window presumably planning to steal the scribbly paper just below him.
-
I'm still trying to figure out if that door is inside the room or outside of it.
Seriously it's very confusing.
Also here's the funny thing: The patent that's associated with was granted last year.

Philips are dumbasses, besides those things have tiny antennas on them.
-
But why would they do that when Howard Phillips used to be gamemaster for Nintendo

But why would they do that when Howard Phillips used to be gamemaster for Nintendo
Like I said to my friend they're still sore about the CDi games not doing well. XD
-
Well...I'd boycott Phillips, but I don't remember the last time I bought anything of theirs.
-

It depends on the date they filed it on, not the day its granted. It can take a long time to process.
-
I'd boycott Phillips,
Isn't that a bit extreme?

Last things I had was a TV I had since Kindergarten and some okay headphones.
-
My all-regions DVD player is a Phillips.

i don't see how they won
when even their european patents were made after the wii was already a thing
it's like wat
did the judge even look at the dates? or did he just go OH THESE ARE KINDA SIMILAR, TOTALLY INFRINGING TOTALLY
-
Hey Phillips, come here. Come here. :3
I want to show you something...

GO [tornado fang] YOURSELVES TO HIGH HEAVEN![/spoiler]
-
Lets hope they have a successful appeal, still what the hell...
-
Wow big deal, stop overreacting.
Also Hypershell, demotivational pictures stopped being amusing years ago.
-
Hype loves his Godzilla though. And Iris... And Daisy...
-
Very very true.

Ruri, you know me better than that by now. Since when have I NOT been exhuming old jokes out of their graves?
And boo-hoo, other people are having opinions and fun the wrong way. I'm pretty sure policing the forums as to whether or not we are using the proper trending image style is a lot more of an overreaction than anything else posted above.

If I don't do it then things like that would be seen as the standard and that's just not right, it's not an overreaction its a serious threat to the future of this forum's quality.

Well, never. I just could have sworn that you used to be better at it.
Have a cookie, dear, and we'll try again later. :cookie:

I think you're confusing me with someone else.
-
I don't think you're willing to put the effort to keep your game up to be honest.
-
I'm not sure which, um, game you are referring to but lately I've found myself without the motivation to play video games, so if there is some game I'm apparently playing I must agree that I would not be willing to put effort in at all.
-
Preeeetty sure he was never quite good at it, Hypershell.
As for the suing thing, that's an odd ruling. Well, guess we'll see how the other court sessions go.

Like it said in the article, Nintendo is planning an appeal; so who knows might turn out okay for them after all. If the appeal fails I'm sure they will settle or whatever the term is.
-
wow, that was a troll copyright lawsuit if I ever saw one, and the Judge took it hook line and sinker.
-
or maybe you guys are just wrong
-
Maybe. But I dont see them suing Sony for their Wiimote knockoff.
Considering Phillips history with Nintendo it's hard to not see it as an intentional, personal attack on Ninty
-
The problem is that the information is a bit scarce about this subject. It seems that this has been going on for a while, at least 2012 at the latest, and that Philips also sued Germany and France along with the UK and US.
