Hey guys been like a bit. I was bored and decided to reform some Mega Man X tunes in the style of Maverick Hunter X. I started with MMX2's boss theme and I honestly think it sounds like it'd be in the legit game if it were created. I'm now gonna mess around with some other tunes and maybe make a complete sound score, though this is between project work and such. But thought I'd share this with you guys and get your takes.
Heh there's even a lot of awesome Maverick Hunter X2 art floating around. Kudos to the artist.

It may just be my phone's speaker but the drums seem a little loud. Other than that it is very well done and i agree that it would fit in just fine. My only issue, a minor one, is that i dislkke synth guitar. I dont know whethrer or not ypu own and play a guitar so if you want any guitar tracks let me know! Im not amazing but i like pkating guitar a lit so let me kbow! :D

Hey guys glad you liked it! And Cherry yeah, it's your phone speakers, heh I find it hard myself to enjoy a song good on those unless, it's really mapped for phones I think. Also I can't help but use the synth guitar at the moment, but I have a lot of others I could pull to. I've only played the bass and I don't really carry one. And by tracks live guitar tracks? That sounds epic! Yeah I'll let you know if I need any! Real guitars really out do the fake ones in areas! Might add you to the sound score list here now.

Well I have a thread here titled Invasion Beta 2.0 if you want to listen to some of the recordings I have done. Lots of synth involved myself. usually due to laziness hahah. I also have a bass i can use as well. I am actually more proficient with that than i am at the guitar. Despite having ten less years of experience. =P I just dislike the synth-tar because i always know it is fake but sometimes it has moments when it fits better than a real guitar. Specifically when trying to make it sound like an old school videogame! BTW what program did you use to make this? I use Mixcraft 6.

synth guitar is fine. it fits with MHX's synthy feel to it's music.

Hey that's pretty cool, being good with that bass is a +. I'll give your topic a looking in a bit here, and same, synth is awesome if you just want a sound and put something together fast.

You hit the nail on the head about making it sound retro! That's one reason I kind of like using the synth guitar at times. Also I used Mixcraft 6 to make this. =D just started with the DAW not long ago and it's results are amazing!

Honestly I have no idea what DAW is. I've been using Mixcraft since Mixcraft 4. I usually just make my midi in guitar pro and then import it into Mixcraft because I can't understand the piano roll!! D:
Also what is funny is that i'm currently working on a Magna Centipede remaster of my own and I did Counter hunter 1 a few years back minus a drum track. It was bad.

Yeah about what a DAW is, I had no idea until my friends kept mentioing it. I guess it's just the music program you use. And yep easier the better!^^ And wow since 4 huh? lol yeah you might be a little more versed with things in areas, I'll keep that in mind. And wow, it's kind of like me with the MIDIs I use FL Studio and transfer the MIDI from there to Mixcraft. I did the same with some music I made with Reason 5 back then...Oh man those old days. I feel you on the counter hunter area 1. lol funny how we think we're just the *censor* back then. Then we notice..Oh wow that's just crap XD
And wait a Manga Centipede remaster!? Ha ha! I think we might be able to start a crazy fan Mega Man Maverick Hunter X2 OST. (Working on Bubble Crab at this moment)

I technically did Crystal Snail but not really in a way that would sound in-game, if that makes sense.
I wouldn't say I'm that good at it at all. I really just use it for it's simplicity and decent resampling rates.
I've also gotten rather good at making my own in program synth instruments. I also have made about 100 different EQ presets for specific types of instruments and guitar yada yada.
It's a great program and I've easily made over 100 remixes with it by now. Most of those being 'sound sketches' if you will haha.
Yeah I'm done programming all of the notes and I've learned it on guitar and bass (makes sequencing it easier for me) I just don't know how i want to tackle it.
Maybe Ill just make one heavier on synth and another vice versa and let the people decide. And since i know you have it i can send you my MX6 files if you ever want to play with anything i have made haha! XD

Guess that's the plan then is we'll start an OST XD. I think I get what you were saying. I was just thinking about that oddly, there is music that sounds like it should be in games and music that sounds like it should be in movies. Also yeah it really is a simple program to get the hang of. Nothing overly complicated like Cubase or something. ^^ Again great, I'd love to mess around with some of your stuff at sometime and see what you got moving with things.

EARLY VERSION: (so you guys get to see work in progress yayz)
Doesn't really distract much from it's original version, and I was thinking of putting in an intro of types, but it didn't sound right to me. So we got a beef'd up version of the original with different adjustments here and there. Best part though I can imagine starting the stage and the rush of the song at the start would suit a READY sign I think. Just perfect.
As for the art I guess I'll just stick with this picture for the music, cause I looked around couldn't find any MHX2 Maverick pics. Though I'll keep looking.

When MHX did Launcher Octopus, it added a bit of bubbly techno to it and I thought it really stood out well. It might be harder with this track simply because it's not as fast paced.'

Wow you had on mind just what I did. I'm currently fixing it up as well cause the pitches were to high in areas. Thankfully it's only a work in progress so. ^^ thanks for the mini review there and yep there's a lot more to come! Though speaking of it being fast paced...Hmm I possibly could go a more slower paced a bit kind of how they messed around with Launch Octopus's stage in areas.

Here's Bubble Crabs tune again. Went a bit softer and more watery this time. Kept the speed the same though but did a lot more mixing around.

Very very nice work on Bubble Crab. I really like the slow intro, the deep breath before the plunge as it were. And the rest definitely give the underwater feel to it. The loop is pretty good as well.

I really like how the second version of Bubble Crab came out. The gradual buildup at the beginning is effective, and the organs work out well throughout the song.

Im almost done with Counter Hunter theme.
Just need to lay the lead guitar and tinker with the drums.
I cant seem to get the same quality percussion as you though! :3

Hey glad you're liking it! It was funky getting a feel of where I had wanted to go with that, but it all fell together, (you shall always be remembered Green Biker Dude) Almost feels though as if the intro there is to be extended a bit lol a point you're just fighting along side the green biker dude before BAM. Ok urm getting back on track. Excellent can't wait to hear how that comes out then! Seems every part of this OST is coming together quickly.
Oh and as for the Percussion,try lot's of reverb and some loops at times if needed. Though important to make your own drums if you can. Thank goodness for FL studio XD
Edit: Fixing some volume issues with the intro stage a bit. Youtube seems to ruin quality. This is a problem.

Speed it up? Hmm maybe I could just drop out the start, keep it original and call it good, like without the odd build up and such and maybe save that for the middle of the tune or something. I'll mess around thanks^^

Pick the ones that are to your liking and I will refine them.
I think it sounds good but not quite fitting to the "Maverick Hunter" vibe.

Yes! That's what it needed. I'll just redo it here then. I was just going to cut the start but things got pretty funky in the mixing.
Thinking I might have a few of you test hear some stuff before I place it up. I'm now wanting these to sound good, and like yeah. It's really turning into a great soundtrack so far.

Really nice! But I feel the drums need some some upping and better sampling, the second half when you drop the guitar is great as well. The guitar is awesome! But I feel it needs more spread, listening with headphones and it sounds like it's all on my left ear. That aside I think it'd be a great mix!
Edit: Then never mind the drums are just fine. I think yeah at times the guitar is stuck on one side. a bit.For sure though it leaves open room for other parts of the song to flow in greatly.

As for the guitat spread i will work on that.
My headphones sadly only work on one side so im using normal speakers and it makes stero effects almost invisible.
The lead i will just duplicate the track and pan one to each side.
The rythm i will pan out as well but im fearful it may drown out the bass and piano.
I also plan to record the lead again because its not as clean as it needs to be. :3

So, that's why it sounds so awkward with the guitar. I know how that is. Seems to work both ways sometimes though, you can have headphones, but like when you listen to it outside it sounds odd until you put them on to listen to things. Also yes, just becareful not to drown out anything. I still have some probs with that myself but I'm getting better lol all about spacing and leveling the volume of things in the end.^^
Edt: Messed around and made the Boss intro tune which comes before fighting a Maverick Boss aka Bubble Crab,Wheel Gator. Not the X Hunter tune.

New intro stage tune is coming soon, just have to figure how I want to execute it. For sure it will be fast and to the point like the original. But I want to make sure to get it down pat before anything else.

I recorded the lead again, spread out the guitar and worked on the drums though they still might not be loud enough.
I also used a different kit this time so it could be hit or miss. I attempted to make the drums sound more synthetic to fit in with the style.

LOVING THAT GUITAR! It sounded really good, I think I will add some more effects to it though if I can get my computer to work so far. But yeah the spread was there and it sounded pretty tight. I'm liking it! And you'll be working Flame Stag? Awesome, can't wait to hear how that comes out. The drums also sound far better this time!

Thanks! Yeah I really tried to get in the cave like feeling with Crystal Snails. I'm just now gonna aim to set the general mood to a stage with the music now. Seems to just really help better. Though it should always be that way. For reasons I was starting to go wild with it lol

I definately love the new beat that you gave Morph Moth!
I'm not in the love with the lead but it definately suits it more the most part.
I just find it a little soft for that industrial kind of setting.
Maybe something sharper?

That flame Stag mix is epic! I'm not sure why though it feels like the melody with the gutiars is to far away, but it could be youtube or something. I love it otherwise. And yeah I wanted to go a lot sharper with the lead of that, but it started sounding far more out of touch with the nature I was going with things. Wanted to aim more at metal shark players stage a bit with it.

Awesome I feel that's what the problem was, the delay made things really drowny in areas, maybe get some spread in as well if you can without it feeling odd. Also the background guitar I LOVED IT! It really shredded well with the melody and sounds just as if you're to be rushing from lava spewing or just a volcano going nuts.
Also another music update on my side. Zeros battle tune. We're nearly done with this OST now. Not much more to go. And yes thanks for your patience, I keep picking up the intro stage theme and putting it down, just can't get it right yet but I'll keep you guys updated.

The capsule theme. Game intro. Title screen. Password acreen.
Both stage selects. X hunter battle. Sigma stage 3 and 4.
The weapon get theme. Sigma fights. Ending theme. Credits.

Also if you do have the lead and rhythm in yeah swing it on over!^^ I can update it to his theme here. It's Zeros you're talking about right?
On the side of the boss stages still. Hmm I now wonder how overdrive ostrich will come out? May go how it was done in MMXTreme 2 a bit with it. Hmm thinking I think I had done that same way with gators stage in areas.

Oh and yet another update got the intro stage to how I want it. I had to increase the volume on the lead a bit, but it's fast and in your face I think. You can finally see the green biker dudes last time before it all begins.

Edit: Hey we may also be able to add more shreddage like guitar to this Cherry if you want to hit up the main course of this as well. Though the techno vibe works, we can always build on it some more.

Thanks glad you liked it!^^ and thanks again on the percussion, I had tried some amps, but it seemed to really boost the sound of the lead guitar which was head breaking @_@ but I can mess with it more. Need to get that bite in there as you said. I'm just happy the attack and everything else is good. XD
And yus! The more serious you can take a boss fight, the better it is in my opinion. Especially a fight between X and Zero.
Edit: Amp'd up those guitars. I'll be getting yet another Intro stage up here soon. XD

My advice is to keep the master volume low.
The gain keep it in the middle, its already distorted. you will just get noise if you go too high.
Focus on the bass and mid tones not too much treble.
Also near the bottom left of the window will say room.
You can change the shape and the distance of the 'mic' and 'amp' to tweak the reverb.
It also has effects like tremolo and such but theu're odd and just distracting.
Im more of an analog musician, this digital stuff frustrates me! XD

Focus on the bass and mid tones not too much treble.
Also near the bottom left of the window will say room.
You can change the shape and the distance of the 'mic' and 'amp' to tweak the reverb.
It also has effects like tremolo and such but theu're odd and just distracting.
Im more of an analog musician, this digital stuff frustrates me! XD
Hey thanks for the tips there. I'll keep that in mind when it comes to working with more amps now. Makes sense too to keep the volume low because the effects bring it up and such. And lol you'll get used to the digital. lol makes things work so much faster in the long run XD

Sorry for the long delay. Work and what not caught up to me and because of it I've gotten zero done on any new tracks. But I've been thinking of revamping Wheel Gator,Morph Moths lead and Wire Sponges stage again.
As for those remixes. Cherry those are amazing! I really love how the guitar came out and seeing mixcraft 6 is fixed up, it sounds really nice! I'll be soon getting all we've made up so far for the OST rar to put up soon. So if you get some time you can upload the mp3's and swing them my way.^^

Well kind of revive bumping the topic. I guess I'll leave the earlier tunes alone for now. And it's come to my attention I may want to do all the X games from X2-X6 now. I did name the topic "possible other musics in X" so guess you can expect MHX styles with other games coming up. I even had inspriation to mess around with X4's boss tune.

Hey guys just an update. I'm going to stop on the OST works and such. Not just because I've become really busy. But the entire Mighty 9 that Inafune-san has created has me really thinking about things. I know it may not mean the end for mega man, but honestly I'm a bit mixed. And what's more I'm not sure where Capcom is aiming to take anything. In short it's really effected me with making any fan material for mega man right now. The OST's may get completed sometime down the road but for now. I'm happy you all have enjoyed my takes on the series.
I will continue to make game remixes but maybe for more original projects such as my Cross Finale RPG game. But yeah, I just have a lot of thinking to do. Can't wait to play Mighty 9 though, but as far as my remixes go for now. It's pretty much on hiatus.

Back guys. Got over my little thought hassle. And basically, I'm back to continue the music. Among other things. I can't wait for Mighty No. 9 because well it's basically a fresh new mega man game, and it's inspired me to possibly use kickstarter or something one day to reach even more goals with my own projects. So yeah can't wait for things to shift around.

I admit on Sigma Battle Faze 1 it was a tad crazy getting a good feel because of how crazy and chaotic it sounds. So I just did my own thing and "added" a little something which I thought helped it out a little.

thank you very much! :-) it took me a couple of days to get the song done. Most of it was actually spent on arranging the song and the stereo works. I did the guitar yesterday and it took me maybe 2 hours to learn the solos and then recorded them. :-) over this weekend I have some spare time so I will do the doctor cain song!

Also yeah, X3 deserves a really good remixed soundtrack. Not that the Saturn,PSX and PC version was bad. To me it sounded more as if it belonged in a MMX Anime. Had that nice 90's late 80's spin with it. Of course I do love the Blizzard Buffalo stage tune out of the PSX/Saturn/PC version more over the SNES. I guess we'll see how it and others come out.

Yeah seriously polish that song and go with that style! I really like the effects you have moving with it in places as well. I think the entire focus of this soundtrack for X3, is to push out the metal factor. While X2's version had a good mixture, I'm feeling far more metal with X3's now. Speaking of that I hit up Gravity Beetles.

the background guitar came out sweet. Nice, sick, and chunky. And I like the arrangement a lot as well. The lead guitar came out really good too but doesn't sound quite like a real guitar yet. If you want, on some of the songs you can do the whole arrangement how ever you want and send me the track and I will record whatever guitar parts you want and then something back your way for final mixing.after I'm done with this one I think I will do the intro stage next.

I've been working on about 5 songs for the X3 album back and forth but mostly just experimenting with different settings styles and recording methods. Not only that but this album has a lot of difficult little solos and as such I've had to improve my playing a lot just to keep up! Also, yeah X3 has a lot of crazy little solo's here and there that need some ironing out when hit, so it's good you're taking time to improve upon the quality of things. Also a track B would be great for that song, it needs some timing cleaning but that guitar came out great!
I think that's about all I have to say about what to fix with the song. For sure though I'll swing you some stuff to play or add guitar with when I get around to it. Just great we both use Mixcraft here! :D
