Title: The Holiday Loot Thread
Post by: Psycho Yuffie on December 21, 2009, 03:58:00 AM
What did you get for your holiday? I don't really care what you celebrate. Hell, I've known Atheists who celebrate the non-religious side of Christmas. Anyway, what gifts did you get? Some of you may not have gotten your gifts yet. Just post them when you do.

Today we had a Family Christmas. It's where my extended family all gets together to have a big dinner and exchange some gifts. After coming back, my immediate family also exchanged gifts because my brother has to work on Christmas. I got a $20 gift card to Best Buy from him. One of my friends showed up to mooch off some food and also gave me a gift: Halo 2 for PC. My mom also got my a gift for Christmas; as such, it's still under the tree. I know what it is, though, because I was there when she got it. I even carried it around the store: an Xbox 360 Elite Holiday Bundle. It's a 360 Elite (obviously) that comes with two games. Now, before you start thinking I'm incredibly spoiled, my mom is only paying $100 of the price. I have to pay her back $200. On top of that, I bought a gift to myself: Fable II, Limited Edition (to go with my new 360).

Reserving my spot here. XD Hopefully I'll remember this is here.

So far, I believe I'm getting new sneakers, and possibly Season 1 of Bleach.

As for what I gave others, my brother's getting a GameStop gift card, his wife, a glass figurine of a dragon and some lotions. Mom's getting a casserole dish and a pie pan, and Dad's getting a Washington Redskins t-shirt. My best friend is getting an art book for Oh! My Goddess, and two other friends got some mixed CDs and art that I've done for them. That's about it.

LOLZ at myself for posting in last year's christmas topic.

Anyway,We decided to open presents this morning because my middle brother works from 7am-11pm on christmas at the hospital.

I gave him a "PS3". I taped the PS1 and PS2 together and put them in the PS2 box(which I redesigned to look like a PS3 box). In the "PS3" was a copy of Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz that I had found in Barnes and Nobles.

I also put two NES carts in the box: Batman and Ghostbusters II.  I wanted him to break Ghostbusters II with a hammer, because I had left some money inside for him, but he never broke it. So I broke it and gave him the money. I guess he didn't break it because he didn't see the point of breaking it.

Also, I gave my oldest brother a box set of The Irresponsible Captain Tylor. I was bored and had nothing else to watch, so I decided to watch it. I wanted to have it finished by the time of Christmas so I could give him the whole box set, so I tried to watch the whole thing. I would've had it finished if I hadn't been so busy the past two days, so I gave him all of it except the last DVD.

Want to guess what my middle brother gave me?

The exact same box set.

Anyway, here's what I got:

2 president Grants, from my parents and my cousin, a Blockbuster gift card for 50 bucks from my Godmother and Uncle in Florida, Aaand... mm.. I think thats it. Unless anything comes in the mail from my Grandma in France.

Yeah. One grant is going towards X complete works, the Blockbuster card towards getting TvC when it comes out, and the other Grant... Ive gotta decide. Either megaman 9 and 10, or Batman Beyond season 2...

How are those JUVI Figures?
They're amusing. Nothing all that special, but unique enough. Retro Roto style is still better IMO, if we're talking Jazwares figures. I guess like a lot of people I'm interested to see the Cutman one more than anything, once it's released.

I think it'll be therapeutic for me to type the list out as I unpack it all:   owob, but ;O;

Gerber pocket knife

WiiPlay w/Wiimote (really only needed it for the Club Nintendo Points and Wiimote)
Rechargeable teal grip for GBC
Mini WebCam (will go perfectly with headset!)
500GB External Hard Drive (...my backup files currently total 8GB; wow...)
Cherry Brown finish kitchen table + 4 chairs
Wooden Futon + Blue cushion
Kenneth Cole 'Black' cologne (Good; I can leave my Hugo Boss Number One for formals)
Grey T-Shirt
Grey Bathrobe (FINALLY!)
Black and blue plaid sleep pants (...again? XD)
Fuzzy Houseshoes (know how many Sheep Men had to PEW to make these?)
Book/Notebook holder
Iron Bridge LED Mini Flashlight...aww how cute, can't be that BRIGHTMAN YAAAAA MY EYES!
Crockpot
Pepper Patch 5 Hot sauces
Texas Ornament
Remote Caddy + Coasters
Castello Del Poggio white moscato wine (YES! YEEES!)
...Mountain Dew flavored Lip Balm...? Looks like a little can!
NingXia Red (health drink, with wolfberries? Didn't know there was such a thing)
And of course...HUGE CANDY AND LEFTOVERS, I WILL CONSUME ALL

Johan Santana Hallmark Ornament

Wait a sec...

Are you a Mets fan, Miyabi?
Title: Re: The Holiday Loot Thread
Post by: Rock Miyabi on December 27, 2009, 05:33:28 AM
Are you a Mets fan, Miyabi?
Hahaha, no. Minnesota raised, Minnesota allegiances. Johan of course came to you guys through us. But he won that Cy Young in the AL. Too bad the Mets couldn't actually keep a hitter healthy last year, or he would have had the run support to win another. Thing about us in the Midwest is we still have a big devotion to our former superstars, especially if the only reason they get traded is because the GMs want to save a buck by not resigning them for millions. So I may not be a Mets/Red Sox/Angels/Celtics/etc. fan foremost, but I still root for Johan, Big Papi, Torii, KG, etc.

But the real reason is because there are two things I collect a lot of: Rockman stuff and sports memorabilia. I've collected most of the Hallmark sports athlete ornaments since they came out. I've got all 14 years worth of baseball, and all 12 basketball ones, plus a few football. They just mean more when it's your hometown player. KG's at least was in a Wolves uni. Unfortunately for me, Johan isn't in a Twins one.  XD The only time Hallmark remade one of those player ornaments in a new uniform was for Ken Griffey Jr. when he went to the Reds.

I've collected most of the Hallmark sports athlete ornaments since they came out.

I collect Star Trek & Star Wars ornaments!  The ships and stuff like that, not the actual people.

Oh ho, and a Twins fan.  I hope your new stadium is nice this year.  Heh, also I'm not a Mets fan, I'm a Yankees fan.

Ok, well now that I have officially received everything I know of so far, it's time to mention it!

- Figure Drawing: Design & Invention by Michael Hampton
- A New Wallet with $10 in it.

...that's it. XD

What's really funny in a strange way about this all is I had more fun with these spoils than I have the entire year so far. The wallet thing is part of a very interesting story from earlier in the year where I lost my 8 year old wallet earlier this year. Anyone who knows me IRL knows that my wallet is second only to my life in terms of things I take care of and keep tabs on. Strangely enough though, I couldn't find it anywhere and it unnerved the hell out of me for a good while.

As it turns out though, my family had actually found it a good time ago and made a sort of joke gift out of it by putting the veteran wallet with all of it's contents underneath the newer one they got me in the same wrapping. XD

The book is another story entirely. Being that I am trying on my own time to work at getting better with drawing for numerous reasons, I had gotten a few interesting books earlier in the year to read from. I did to some extent, and I'm thankful for that, but all the same I found myself still kinda looking for a more visual aid. I told one of my friends about this and they pointed me in the direction of that book. I just got my copy in the mail today and just from reading the first few pages, I'm more satisfied with this purchase than I can describe. It's a really well done book.

And that's all for now folks!

Mega Edit: Looks like Santa was late this year since we got quite a bit more from him after Christmas Day! XD

- Panasonic VIERA 42" S1 Series Plasma TV (The gift to everyone from everyone that stays in my room. 8D)
- 2 Nintendo Wii Remotes & Nunchuks with Motion Plus Accessories in Black (8B)
- A preorder for a kickass new laptop (http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-g73jha1-order-p-2731.html) (Granted I might/will pay for it entirely.)
- Nintendo DSi Aqua Blue (It's like my GBC days all over again! XD)
- The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

An original DS? Sweet! Hope Akira likes it. Anyways.. I'm a bit intrigued:What does this "expand" on, exactly?

- 32/64 MByte NOR memory, so you can permanently store 1 GBA game on it, and use it on any other GBA system and also unlock secret things from DS games that has a GBA-unlock feature.
- 16 MByte PSRAM memory, so you can play a GBA game directly from the DS cartridge, a soft-load if you want to call it that. When you turn off the game, the PSRAM'd game will disappear from the 3-in-1.
- Extra RAM for DS Internet Browsers, like the Opera browser for example.
- Rumble feature for your DS games. Low, Medium, High rumble.

It's right here. (http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/3_in_1_Expansion_Pack_for_EZ-Flash_V)

ram, and piracy. Uh, and some useless rumble pack.

He got it for playing GBA games. I guess the rumble feature is useless. >U<
