Title: So what's left in 2009, RPM?
Post by: Da Dood on August 14, 2009, 11:43:35 PM
What are the RPMers buying on this second half of 2009, game-wise?

I ask because some of my most anticipated titles of the year have been pushed back to the far far away land of 2010, Bayonetta and BioShock 2 mainly. And I have very few to look forward to this year. I mean, some games do interest me, but none reach the OMG DAY ONE level that many 2010 releases have already achieved (Bayo, BioShock 2, God of War III, Other M, Galaxy 2, No More Heroes 2...).

My targets, in order of can't-waitness:

5. Dead Space: Extraction
The original Dead Space is my favorite game on the PS3 along with Resident Evil 5. Paying the Ishimura a visit during the outbreak sounds like fun.

4. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
I'm very intrigued by the concept, but I have an alarm going off "ORIGINS! ORIGINS!" that prevents me from getting too excited. I'll wait for critic and public reception.

3. Scribblenauts
It sounds like the perfect pick-up game. Let's hope that dictionary is actually well programmed, though. I don't want to summon a tornado and watch as it does nothing!

2. Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
I didn't even like Umbrella Chronicles that much, but I'm an RE2 whore.

1. New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Probably the only surefire deal here. Mario games are just too charming and polished to pass. Plus I'm a big fan of New Super Mario Bros.

(By the way, do we have a topic for the Mega Man Marathon (http://www.thespeedgamers.com), which starts in about two hours?)

Ooof... I have to think about it... There are quite many games I'm looking for but I don't know which will be released in 09.

And that MMMarathon is news to me. I'll check that out. Thanks.

Well, to begin with, there's the second Professer Layton this month. After that date my highest priority is Tatsunoko VS Capcom (it doesn't turn out to be a late winter release though), then in no specific order:
-EXE Operate Shooting Star
-Muramasa the Demon Blade
-RE Darkside Chronicles
-Scribblenauts
-New Super Mario Bros Wii
-Dissidia Final Fantasy
-Metroid Prime Trilogy (still need to get 3, and actually having a manual for Prime wouldn't be so bad)

and if we're including games that were released already but we haven't bought yet then there's a [tornado fang]ing ton more for me.

I honestly haven't got a clue. Maybe a BlazBlu update, Mario Wii, and for sure whatever I can enjoy and catch my intrest. I might wait for Spectrobes Origins (because of a friend :P).. that could be it.. and maybe a few Capcom games too.

There's also Sega's answer to YuGiOh games: Bakugan, can't wait to review the [tornado fang] out of that.

-Shadow Complex
-Metroid Prime Trilogy
-New Super Mario Bros. Wii
-RE Darkside Chronicles
-Batman Arkham Asylum
-TatsuCap
-Muramasa

that's really all i can think of at the moment. stuff like Bayonetta was pushed to 2010, and i don't know when some other games come out, like PSP LittleBigPlanet.

depending on how much i play Brawl for the rest of the year, i might have to invest in a new Gamecube controller.

Batman AA and TatsuCap are the only surefire things that I can think of at this moment. I'll probably think of more when my current game well runs dry.

Mario and Luigi 3
NSMBWii
Brutal Legend(?)
Guitar Hero 5
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom (thanks to new characters and input simplicity)

Don't know other than that.

Muramasa The Demon Blade
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Mario & Luigi RPG 3/Bowser's Inside Story.
Tatsunoku vs. Capcom.

And anything else that catches my intrest.

I'm really looking foward to Muramasa and TatvsCap.

The topic title made me think "The first 2 MegaMan games have to happen by the end of this year, at least!"

NSMB
TatsuCap
Prime Trilogy
And of course, OSS for my good old DS which has more Love than my Wii at the moment.

Hmm

-Metroid Prime Trilogy
-Muramasa
-New Super Mario Bros. Wii
-Brutal Legend
-Magna Carta 2
-Tatsu vs Cap
-KH 358/2 Days
-FF Dissidia+PSP Bundle which naturally leads down the road to - Maverick Hunter X, MM Powered Up and Castlevania X Chronicles~
-Batman AA (though my brother will buy this.  He said he'll rent it cuz he's unsure if it'll be any better than the demo.  So uh yeah, he's gonna buy it, we all know that.  If not, i'll buy it instead)

NSMB Wii and Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom for me.  I've got lots of "new oldies" games to play at the moment, so I'm kinda holding off.

hmm... I have no honest clue...Might find the Cure for Cancer....might find a way to make Animals sentient...start a robot apocalypse...who knows what Humanity has in store?

Just kidding.

I don't know what kind of games I'll get by the end of this year...maybe I'll get a 360 or PC...if I do, I'll start getting into valve or WoW and all that tut...

I can't believe I forgot Muramasa. That's definitely a day... five. :D

Batman: Arkham Asylum looks very polished, but I'm gonna wait and see how the game really plays because I'm not very good at the whole stealth thing.

Building myself a new PC to run the glorious master race games.

Nothing else console wise aside from Uncharted 2. Everything else is pretty subpar.
