The fan version has way too many colors.

No one cares how many colors it has. It looks way better than the official one.

I have a question. As far a graphical assets go, can I use higher quality sprites than 8-bit?

For an example, If I wanted to update Mega Man's sprites set to look more like a HD sprite without adding frames, could I do that without crashing the engine?  What I am talking about is similar to what Capcom did for SSF2HD Remix. Note that things like scrolling, number of animation frames and such would not change, just a graphic swap. I took a class on C# about two years ago, and I messed around in XNA while I was in class. I think I will take a good look at your engine and see if I can figure out how it runs. Your doing an awesome job!

This game does everything that the NES could not with the 8-Bit art style. I don't care if some things have too many colors or if the number of enemies is sometimes too many that the NES could display at once, or if the backgrounds are to detailed. It's about time someone broke out of that narrow mindset of having to represent the 8-bit art style with arcaic limitations! Qudos, Phil! But be prepared to activate your flame sheilds from the zealots!

See where it says Mega man X? That's a sticker covering the original RockmanX logo. The rest of the box is in Moon speak. Its the exact same box, with a Mega man X sticker, that is the only difference between the US release and Japanese release.

The only difference on the packaging has always been a Mega Man X sticker. I doubt they will change the name. Liek I said, peel off the sticker and you ahve yourself a Japanese release!

Just because they show up, doesn't mean they have to be evil. IMHO them showing up makes things more interesting for when they do turn on the heroes.

You could try peeling off the stickers. You would need to be very careful, but it would work if you were successful.

I keep all of my boxes too. It's nice if you have to move, or if you want to sell them. But like you said, fat chance.

As much as I would like to tell you that it doesn't matter, it really does. I have all of the american releases, I keep boxes for figures like this, and I want all of them to say Mega Man X. Probably as much as you want all of yours to say Rockman X.

Rockman Series / Re: The story of Rockman Online

Personally, I remain hopeful that three things will happen with this game:

1. That talks with Neowiz go well and Capcom USA gets the infrastructure needed to bring this game to America.
2. That is has gamepad support.
3. That we talk about it more.

The first one comes from the most recent Ask Capcom video. For those that don't know, Sven stated he was talking to Neowiz about what would need to happen for the Ghouls and ghosts MMO as well as Mega Man Online to come to America. Hopefully they can get the equipment needed for both, I would love to hunt Robot Masters/Mavericks with you guys!

So, how about that psychotic Mega man in issue 10? This issue made my week. So good.

Mega Man in general could use more exposure. Until they make a title that has deeper game play and immersion, AND better advertising, Mega Man will always be niche and obscure.

Is anyone else having trouble using joy to key on 3.12b? I am running win7 64-bit, and I have tried using two different perfectly good pads, and different versions of joytokey. I also tried other games, and they work fine.  Not sure what it is about this game that doesn't seem to like JTK.

Batman Arkham city, SM3DLand, metroid fusion, mario vs donkey kong, Skyrim, Mega Man X1, L.A. Noire, Zelda Skyward sword and DC Universe Online.

This is what I am playing. My plate is full. First world problems.

Mega Man does not need better marketing. Ask any gamer if they know who Mega Man is, they will say yes. Then ask them if they bought Mega Man 10, only the Mega Man fans will say yes to that. Mega Man needs a new game that makes him relevant; combined with excellent marketing of this NEW relevant game. He needs a big push of a big AAA title to make him profitable. Mega Man needs his epic trilogy. A cartoon would not hurt, but brand recognition isn't as important as making a quality game that gamers, not just fans, will actually be interested in.

TLDR: Gamers know who Mega Man is, they are just waiting for him to be relevant again.

I want a straight to DVD Mega Man Zero movie created by ruby spears.

Is it horribly sad that I would buy it on blu ray AND enjoy it?

Has anyone seen this? http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/12/01/devil-may-cry-dmc-gameplay?objectid=85707

Dante's model look's tweaked to be a little better. And i'll be the first to admit that the framerate looks MUCH better. But it's still NOT Devil May Cry. The only way I would play this is with my eye patch on.

Try changing the TV to game mode if it has one. If not, try going into the settings and turning every single thing off that has to do with filtering/processing the picture. If all else fails, you can try hooking the PS3 up with composite cables.

Let me start by getting something out of the way. I could have reviewed this book months ago when I received the preview copy, but I genuinely wanted to read it on paper first. And I am glad that I waited.

Story:
The story is a continuation of Asteroid blues that introduces the Star Droids in a unique way and combines many elements of Mega Man 8 and Mega Man V. Unlike Gigamix vol.1, Gigamix vol.2 has two separate chapters of the same story, making it a very lengthy and entertaining read.  I don’t want to delve to deeply into the plot because I fear it may ruin the experience for you, but I will say that it is unique in that Wily and Light seem to truly be forced to team up to combat the threat of the Star Droids. Also getting to see a different side of Dr.Wily, and younger versions of he and Dr.Light was a unique opportunity.  There is a Cutman transformation that is truly awesome, and an explanation for why Dr.Wily and Dr.Light ever decided to work together in the first place.

The story is packed with action and heart, it is an eye opening insight to the world of Ariga's Mega Man that is in line with how I originally viewed the character at a time when the internet didn’t truly exist and I was left to my own devices to interpret the story. This story invokes nostalgia and the desire to see Ariga direct and create the story for any future Mega Man game titles. If only Capcom would hire this man.

This manga is truly worthy of the paper it was printed on. The story is 10 times better than anything Capcom has ever officially given us in the game series. This is mostly due to the outstanding efforts of the Udon translation team. They seem to understand how to give us a story that is not simply translated directly, but instead tailored to an American audience while remaining 100% true to the original source material.

Art:
Ariga's artwork has as many robots as possible jam packed into each panel, creating the feeling that even with their combined efforts, they are destined to fail.  I was never left wondering what was going on, and each page has amazing detail and clarity. Every time I think Ariga cannot top himself, he goes the extra mile and dominates my brain with imagery that is explosive and complex.  The character designs are hyper detailed and show that Mega Man characters can be so much more than the simple way Capcom's artists draw them, it just takes the right amount of imagination, and Ariga's got that in spades.

To sum up the review, I would just say that if you are a Mega Man/Rockman fan and this isn't in your collection, you should get it immediately. Why are you still reading this? Go get it!

How extensive do you guys believe the alt costume to be? Will the name and winquotes change? Will he have a new voice? Can we pick Zero and X together as a team?!!!! These are the burning questions that must be answered!

What about the masses of people that will buy the game that are not part of the DMC fanbase? You know, the ones that buy all the AAA titles like they are candy? How do we convince them? This game needs really bad reviews and lots of negative press. I hope it tanks harder than Bionic Commando.
