I would be more interested if it was the Twilight Princess version of Link. Yes, I'm a left-handed snob.

While we're talking Medicom:

Real Action Hero Saber. The Saber to end all Sabers (and a lot of people's wallets). I'm not sure yet if I will actually see this order through, given how expensive she is and I'm not sure if I will still have a job in September. Good thing I can easily cancel her from HLJ.

Robot Damashii #062 <SIDE MS> CB-0000G/C Reborns Gundam/Reborns Cannon

I never thought I would get this figure, but HLJ miraculously got a few back in stock. I so can't wait for this bad boy to join my RD roster. Totally gay for this design, still one of my all-time Gundam favorites.

ZX / Re: The "gift" of mortality

Undeniably, however, it is incredibly easy to confuse her for a Reploid. Zero himself had to be told of her humanity in the first game.

Are you sure about that? I don't remember anything of that sort. What I do remember is that Zero was somewhat dumbfounded that Neige and the members of the Caravan were human, though.

As for Ciel, I never considered her to even partially be robotic. I actually never even had the impression she could be Repliroid at all. That is further reinforced by the fact that she needs to use a visor built into her helmet-thingy in order to see Cyberelves, which have been noted in ZX to not by visible to humans by the naked eye and can only be observed by Repliroids (most humans are not even aware of the existence of Cyberelves, even well into ZX).

Quote
As such, I observe Ciel to augment herself with the 'eyes' of Reploids, the 'ears' of Reploids, the 'skin' of Reploids, and the 'feet' of Reploids.

You remember that artwork from PHYSIS set after the game, where the Resistance and the Caravan members are celebrating their working water pump? You can see Ciel there in a dress instead of her regular clothes and she has regular human ears as opposed to Repliroid ear shells.

Granted, Vile had regular looking ears, too, but with him, it seemed more like his flesh was gradually being replaced by machine parts via nanomachines due to his rejuvenation armor.

I recall the Big 4 blowing up in Z1 and 2 and then being fine right after- same for Copy X.

Neither the Big 4 nor Copy-X explode when beaten. They simply collapse and go down to their knees. Only ones to explode are Phantom during the rematch (he selfdestructs) and Copy X MK-II (due to the boobytrap placed in him by Vile, triggered when activating his Armed Phenomenon).

Or you know, maybe people just have different tastes to you.

That is of course a possibility, but I'm still dumbstruck as to how avid Wing fans seem to be when it comes to the mecha designs. Whenever I see someone fawning over the Gundams or the OZ suits from Wing, I just stand there and think to myself, "I don't get it."

I guess I will never understand why so many people still dig the mecha designs from Wing. I suppose most of them are from the Toonami generation, which I never experienced.

It's airing... 3 years after it was announced.

Genius.

Definately looking forward to it. I can totally see the merit of the original series and how it has forever changed the face of mecha anime in Japan, but getting through the TV series has been an endeavour for me for years and I'm still not through it (but I saw the movie version of it years ago).

I hope that they are not going to pull that stunt like with the Zeta movies again, splicing together old animation with new. I want all newly animated One Year War.

Also, what are the odds of them actually taking chances and hiring an all-new voice cast instead of going back to the likes of Furuya and Ikeda?

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE  0v0

I seriously do not remember Ardjet to be so... pink. That's what I sort of hate about the second game. The landscapes change the color perception of the models, because when I think Ardjet, I think of how she looks during the Callisto battle, which is more light blue and all.

Still gonna buy it, though. I'm just glad we get something OTHER than Jehuty. There's also already a Vic Viper prototype.

So Kaiyodo, when are you gonna bust out Neith and Nephtis? I'd kill for those. I'd also like Dolores in ISIS mode and Hathor.

Zero / Re: Just how much did Zero remember by the end of Zero 4?
« on: January 02, 2013, 11:42:42 PM »
i guess dying several times would do this

If he even remembers that, which I heavily doubt. Ciel knows more about Zero's past than he does, and she certainly didn't imply to know more than that he fought alongside X in the previous war and was an even match for him. That's the reason why she set out to find him. Other than that, Zero's got nothing but gut feelings that connect him to what he used to be, and X certainly doesn't try to help him regain what he lost.

That's also pretty much the reason why Zero, as a protagonist, kind of sucks in the Zero series. He has no character, no sense of humor like he used to have in the beginning of the X series and all that. Alouette even calls him an outright jerk in that one drama track because he just doesn't get what she wants from him and that doesn't even seem to bother him. Zero series Zero is consistently on task. X series Zero had also characteristics like that, but there were other parts to him than just being the straight man to X whenever he was down. But in his incarnation, he's almost void. He is a badass who's totally convinced that sticking to Ciel and the Resistance is the right thing to do, but other than that, there's not much to him honestly. That's at least my reason for me being more interested in the Guardians than the actual protagonist of the damn games. That's certainly the reason why they killed Zero off again at the end of his own series. There's simply nothing for him to do once the war is over. He's a warrior, and warriors simply have no place in peacetimes.

Zero / Re: Just how much did Zero remember by the end of Zero 4?
« on: January 02, 2013, 05:14:00 PM »
I really don't think Zero cared to remember, honestly.

Pretty much this. All Zero really required was the barest of information in order to function as a Hunter and a warrior. Not to mention that Zero wasn't exactly proactively looking to uncover his past of his own, it was all just based on his gut feeling, including his interactions with Original-X. The way he behaves throughout the series, he seems pretty ok with not knowing much as long as he knows who he can trust and who he has to fight. It underscores the notion that Zero at this point has more or less seized being an individual and has become a weapon of conviction that lends its strength to those considered worthy (Ciel).

The little drills are probably plastic.

So? Plastic can still be pointy. I have enough figures here that can attest to that. You can still stab yourself in the finger with stuff like that.

Drills can be yours for $30.

Bandai that's too expensive.

Be glad they're no Tamashii Webshop Exclusive.

And Ciel can see Cyber Elves not because of her genetic alterations, but rather because of the visor she uses for that very purpose.

Now that is rather interesting. Yet it doesn't really seem to make all that much sense to me. The only time we ever see physically use her visor is while she is in her room, researching one of the Babyelves in Zero 2 prior to Operation Righteous Strike. On the other two occurances where she interacts with Cyberelves (talking to Passy in Zero 1 and seeing the Motherelf in Zero 3), she seems to be able to physically see them without the aid of any technical gadgets. She also seems to be seeing the Cyberelf you get in Z4 just fine with her very own eyes. As a whole, I find it sort of wierd that humans are not supposed to see Cyberelves, especially since Cyberelves are human-created data life objects last I checked. I only remembered that by the time of ZX, humans and Repliroids were unaware of turning Cyberelves upon death.

Well, the MORE economical idea would have been to just retire him like any other Maverick, but I assume that because Omega contained Zero's body, they were hesitant to just destroy it, so they just exiled him too. or they were just sick of all the deaths and exiled him. I really would like to know why they didnt just retire him.

I'd be willing enough to actually call this a plothole for convenience's sake. Omega needed to be formally introduced with a bombastic first appearance, and what better way is there to have a giant, sword-shaped spaceship crash on Earth that contains the harbinger of the near-apocalypse who then proceeds to royally screw two of the remaining Guardians over?

They decided during the development of the visual novel that Ayaka was not an ideal protagonist for the target audience, so Saber was redesigned and had his gender swapped and Ayaka was dumped altogether in favor of Shirou to make it more appealing.

Actually, what I keep hearing is that Takeuchi desperately wanted to draw a female in a suit of armor and that then triggered the whole slew of changes.

Then again, when you look at the outline of this prototype with all the Servants being male and all the Servants female, this probably would have gone down the Shoujo route and wouldn't have been as successful I think. Nonetheless, I'm thrilled to see this actually happen. Archetype Saber animated, [tornado fang]ing awesome. I want more of this.

Bit pricey, don'tya think?  o~O

This whole thing already turned into a 15-page discussion over at ANN.

Here's what it boils down to:

The price for this boxset is so high because it is a big premium release. This release, as by Aniplex' train of thought, is only meant for the kind of fan who is willing to pay the extra mile to obtain it. The kind of fan who thinks the series is worth so much, for the collectors out there, not the "casual Anime buyer" who already complains if a complete season set costs more than 60 bucks etc. Hence, you can be pretty sure that this release only has a pretty limited number of copies. The Kara no Kyoukai BD Boxset was similiarily priced and sold-out the day it was officially released at RightStuf. This is a collector's item and hence it is priced the way it is. In the eyes of Aniplex, if it's too expensive, that's too bad for you.

And I somewhat doubt there's going to be a more "standardized" release of this for the US either. I mean, Kara no Kyoukai didn't get another release for the US afterwards, no DVD version, no single BD release, nothing. It's buy it or leave it.

As for me, I am somewhat enticed to buy this, but I'm not sure yet. For one, March is already a pretty expensive month for me given my purchases of games, DVDs and figures and second of all, I haven't found a good store with a somewhat lower price for it yet. So far, RightStuf seems to be the least expensive offer I've managed to find, but the issue is that RightStuf only allows for international customers to pay via credit card, something I do not have. Which pretty much only leaves me with options like CD Japan or AmiAmi.

Bought this little beauty at Comic Con for about $60. Had to wait in line for almost 20 minutes, but it was damn well worth it.

Personally, I would never buy something like this, a metallic-coated figure I mean. The issue with these kinds of figures is often that the metallic paint will chip off really easily. I was already scared enough when I tried to remove Full Armor X' front helmet piece because I feared I'd scratch the gold lines of it. It's wierd though that on the official pictures, the Full Armor has yellow parts on it. On the actual figure, all that is supposed to be yellow is actually a metallic gold.

And besides, you tend to see every little fingerprint on such large metallic surfaces such as the Comic Con exclusive X.

I'm still trying to get the regular X release.

"DAT'S NOT MAH BATMAN. NOT EVEN GONNA WAIT TO SEE HOW IT IS."

Funnily enough, do you keep up with real Batman? You know, the comic.

Yeah yeah, I know, not judge a book by its cover, etc, etc.

As for comics, I've been meaning to since DC did their reboot, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Besides, how many Batman titles does DC have in publication right now that got rebooted? Like, a dozen?

Entertainment / Re: Transformers: WELL THAT'S JUST PRIME

It's in its own continuity. I don't know who said that it's in the same one as War for Cybertron... but he was probably lying.
Also, funny you mention Beast Wars, since for me... this show is THE BEST Transformers cartoon since that show.
But oh well.

Hm, well this is what the Transformers Wiki has to say about this.

Quote
While all elements of War for Cybertron fiction are based on the Aligned production bible, the creators of the various media products diverged from each other in many details. The events of the video games overlap with much of Exodus, and the results mesh poorly. However, Hasbro has consistently described as a single continuity not just the games and novel, but the Prime fiction as well.[4] This brings up issues such as the fact that Bumblebee and Soundwave are very Generation 1-inspired in War for Cybertron and can speak words, but they're portrayed in the Prime cartoon as quasi-mute. Cartoon Bumblebee in particular is very much like his live-action movie incarnation, speaking in electronic beeps and squawks. The aforementioned "Bumblebee at Tyger Pax" story attempts to explain this change, but the retcon occurs before the game events, so the contradiction remains.

When asked about the contradictions, Hasbro VP of Intellectual Property Development Aaron Archer replied, "reasons for the confusion will be revealed".[5] In at least one small case, Hasbro has taken a stab at reconciliation, declaring Optimus Prime's predecessor in the games, "Zeta Prime", and the one in the novel, "Sentinel Prime", to be the same individual, "Sentinel Zeta Prime".

So apparently, they're supposed to belong together, but there's certain elements that distinguish the two at the same time.

I've seen the first three or so episodes of this series as it started out, and I wasn't exactly hooked by it, so I pretty much just gave up. Then again, I'm not really a big Transformers fan period, unless that Transformers show is called "Beast Wars".

One thing I'd like to ask though since this kept confusing me throughout the episodes I saw, wasn't this thing supposed to be in the same continuity as Transformers: War for Cybertron, the video game? Because it doesn't really feel like that at all.
