[spoiler]There's some hate being slung at Amethyst for trying to destroy Peridot's tablet. I understand the hate and honestly, I was pretty miffed when she did that. Peridot uses technology to cope with being an inferior Gem. That tablet, a gift from Steven, was another comfort object. When she cried and said that she needed it, that it was all that she was, that broke my heart.
I've had stuff taken away from me, am told that I "don't need" something, and given that whole "love the skin you're in" speech (which is a bullshit speech and I hate it). There are a few things I use to just function, and one of those things is my tablet. I keep apprised of the weather, I can check my e-mail and keep in contact with people, it serves as a needed distraction when in uncomfortable situations, and sometimes I'll just fiddle with it (or my phone) because fiddling keeps me focused. I'm shamed for it an awful lot, mainly by those who don't understand how my brain works and why I need to have it around just to feel comfortable. So, yeah, I emphasize with Peridot an awful lot.
This isn't to say that I hate Amethyst for what she did. Far from it. But, I am a bit miffed.[/spoiler]
