Again, I point to Classic Mewtwo shot first.

This "Mega-volution" business is getting silly.
Well if it makes you feel better they're only for in battle and not permanent like forms always are....Though I still think they were watching way too much Digimon.  Also it seems MegaAmpharos is Electric/Dragon?   Well it still looks more Dragonish than Altaria.

I guess that Gym Leader who unlocks the forms will be the one Gym Leader that, if at all possible to still advance in the game regardless, I may never bother to beat.  Or, I might simply not bother with the hideous Mega-volution.

Back in my day... being Legendary meant something.

Gym leaders aren't optional but yeah you can just not bother with Mega-volution.

Yay, a useless function for the game.  Oh well, I used to play without using items, so I just had this huge inventory of stuff that I never used.  A ton of Rare Candy, which I usually just sold, along with other items that I never used.

Some people do do Nuzlockes without items, or the reverse where they have to use items and no Pokemon Centers.  The latter's probably done in gen 3 and 4 so you can grow Leppa berries.

I did Nuzlocke runs before it was cool. [/hipster]

Actually, no, it was more of a lousy style of gameplay and poor habits.  I'd focus all the training on one Pokemon (my Pidgey), and I just never bothered with items because I simply didn't know how to use them properly.  I've gotten better with the training portion, but I'm still lousy with items.  Not entirely, as other games gave me more experience, but I don't use them as often as I should.

Huh.
So the Mega-volutions are like Castform's forms, and Cherrim's Sunny form...
Well, to be honest, I feel that's a bit... Wasteful on resources.

If it were me, make these Mega-volutions exclusive for Dream World Pokemon.
Makes the DW relevant again. >_>

I never used the Dream World so I'm fine with it.

It'll be like Origin Giratina or Sky Form Shaymin.

YOU NEED TO CARE IF YOU WANT TO COMPLETE THE MEDAL COLLECTION IN B2W2
... Which I need to start VERY soon. >_>

So... Item-held formes that are only seen in battles... Huh.

Whatever item causes the Mega-volution, Mewtwo isn't allowed to have it.  I'll lock it in a closet.  With all my other items. :P

Why is it that MegaMewtwo is the only one that looks hideous?  I mean, all of the others follow the badass flowing hair theme, otherwise looking pretty well faithful to their originals.

Ah well, "Mega" form being temporary means there is a damn good shot of classic Mewtwo returning for Smash.  I'll take it.

...now I just need to find out if there's a MegaDragonite.  >.>

Since it was stated that not all Pokemon have a Mega-volution, makes you think who gets the treatment...

MegaFarfetch'd? MegaDunsparce? MegaLuvdisc?

I am trying to warm up to the Mega Evolutions.  But, if classic Mewtwo returns for Smash IV, then that's awesome and I'll put up with the Mega-volution for the sake of kicking ass with Mewtwo again.

If anything MegaMewtwo might just be a final smash if he's in the game.  Or maybe they'll make it like Samus and Zelda and have him able to switch forms, that would be interesting.

I still think that MegaAmpharos is the most ridiculous.  He looks like a cross between a unicorn and Elvis Preseley which apparently equals part Dragon. XD

Mega Ampharos is FABULOUS~ 8D

I've seen game footage of Mega Mewtwo in action, and he looks pretty sweet in battle.  Nice animations.  It's just going to take a bit to get used to, us nerds being resistant to change and all...

Well, localization names have popped up.
As well as a new video:

Mega Evolution is... Mega Evolution.

That Gym Leader that knows about it is named Korrina, in Shalour City, where the Tower of Mastery is located to master this new evolution.

Hamtaro is now Dedenne, the bunny is Bunnelby and Gogoat's pre-evo is Skiddo.

Dedenne knows a new Electric-type move called Nuzzle.

The new ability, CHEEK POUCH, lets Pokemon gain the usual benefits of a held berry during battle, with the added bonus of regaining HP. Not sure how that would work with Oran and Sitrus Berries.

We know Blaziken Mega's with Blazikenite. Lucario does so with Lucarionite.

But the most important thing trainers want to know is the EVs.
 • EVs (base stats) can now be seen through a meter.
 • With Super Training, it’s not your Pokemon’s level that goes up but its base stats, the underlying values that define your Pokemon's skills in battle. As these base stats increase, your Pokemon can increase its HP, Attack, or other stats beyond those of another Pokemon of the same species at the same level. These base stats could be increased using items and other methods in previous Pokemon titles, but in Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, you'll be able to raise them far more easily than ever before, thanks to Super Training. This will lay the groundwork for more Pokemon Trainers to aim for the very top!
 • Super Training can be played on the touch screen whenever you are not in battle or viewing an event. Your Pokemon will face huge Pokemon-shaped balloons, with each side trying to shoot balls into the other's goal.
 • For a more casual way to help your Pokemon grow, use training bags for an easy boost to your Pokemon’s growth with Core Training! You'll earn training bags when you complete Super-Training Regimens.

All these information taken from Pokebeach.

I'm watching you all. Always watching.

To be fair, Ampharos is known as Denryu in Japan, which translates to Electric Dragon if I'm not mistaken. So that part makes sense.

Also he's not really part Elvis, more like... part Fabio. I mean, dat flowing hair >0<

I said Elvis because I swear the top part looks like a pompadour.  And yeah I guess the electric/dragon makes sense now.

With the official Japanese site update, a small note came out regarding further clarification on the Mega Evolutions. Within this site, it details that with Mega Evolutions, you can only have one Mega Evolution Pokémon in battle. It's not known whether it's talking about all of the battle, or just within your team. This is presumably to allow for a specific balance in the Pokémon. It also clarifies that the Pokémon will revert after the battle has ended, not within it itself when the battle finishes. We're still not 100% on the specifics of this new process, but we'll keep you updated as more information comes

Well that's pretty fair.

Awwww, the revised type chart won't be revealed until the next issue...

I guess all I can really say is it isn't exactly what I'd expect out of a $4.4M game

It doesn't even have mouth animations
