Is your subzero polar vortex melting away? Then it must be time for my 7th (nearly)annual Megaman Valentine's Day Contest!

So our 25th anniversary celebration was a dud. None of the merchandise, nor even a Fabio-lous Jewel Man, seemed to brighten the day of even the most hopeful fan. While I can’t give away a new game as a prize -  and I know some of you are probably sick of the merchandise I’ll be giving away – we can still show our love and appreciation for a franchise that has and will continue to be a part of our favorite gaming memories.

I’m going to add a slight addition to the format this year. As usual, there will be two categories, one that focuses on humor, and one that focuses on talent. But I’m also going to mix it up with a random raffle category, too. Just enter a drawing in that category and you have an equal chance at winning no matter what your skill level or humor is.

I threw together my usual deviantART poll for category themes, and I’ll run with the top two. There was only one clear winning theme, and it’ll be used for the Talent competition.

PRIZES:

This year the “pick your prize at this price” option more or less goes away. Although, if the winner already has what I am offering, and prefers to replace it with a cash prize through Paypal, it will be an option. Overall, I’m going pretty big this year, paying out well over $350 USD in goods for you guys. The prizes for each category will be listed separately below.

RULES:

Three categories, which you are allowed to enter in each if you would like. If you place in one category, you will be automatically disqualified from the other, for reasons of fairness, and to give other people a chance to win a prize. The category rundown is as follows:

CATEGORY 1: Rock, Draw Me Like One of Your Reploid Girls (Talent)

    Content Requirements:

    - Draw your favorite Megaman character(s) posing for a classy, seductive pinup.

Way back in early 19XX, a young, poor artbot named Rock Light won tickets aboard the luxury cruise liner, DWNTitanicMach2. After the ship struck the small, iceberg-tipped head of an arctic robot later known as Chill Man, Rock saved the life of  _____, keeping them from falling off the edge of the ship. The two struck up a relationship and _____ marveled at the beautiful foreign women that filled Rock’s sketchbooks. Rock was on Mighty Cloud 9, and felt like he was the ‘King of the World.’ _____’s billionaire playbot fiancé King begged to differ... Finally, after days of coy advances, ______ realized her true feelings for Rock and asked the artist, “Rock, draw me like one of your Reploid girls.”

So, since I guess you guys really wanted to see how far I’d push this category, I’m gonna let you draw some sexy pics. As long as they are artistic and suitable for dA, I’ll allow it. That doesn’t mean you have to draw totally risqué pics, or that one will even win. Ladies, you can reverse the scenario and draw male pinups if you prefer.

This theme will work as the talent category, so the judging will focus on the effort and skill you put into you piece. Prove to us you can outdo the Van Goghbots, Super Fighting Rubens and Dr. Monets of the artistic world.

    Prizes
1st: Bandai Sigma Figuarts or D-Arts figure of your choice*
2nd: Bandai D-Arts figure of your choice*
3rd: OCR’s For Everlasting Peace CD or Archie Comics Graphic Novel

*Excludes rare, pricey options like Iwamoto Comic Ver. X or ComicCon variant. Sorry, must be within reason.

CATEGORY 2: Never Gonna Give You Up (Humor)

    Content Requirements:

    - Draw your favorite Megaman villain carrying off another character, or characters, in the name of love and companionship
    - Make sure it is clear they are never gonna give them up, never gonna let them down, never gonna run around and desert them, never gonna make them cry, never gonna say goodbye, and last but certainly not least, never gonna tell a lie and hurt them.
    - Drawing big hair, bigger microphones, trenchcoats, sunglasses, backflipping bartenders, and smooth dancing is purely optional.

You know the game, and we’re gonna play it.

Kidnapping is pretty common in the Megaman Universe, if not video games in general. Besides a bunch of Robot Masters, Wily has nabbed Kalinka, Roll, Light…well, who hasn’t he...? Zero’s body has been stolen. Tiesel has been taken by Glyde. Shademan.EXE swooped in for Roll.EXE. Luna was whisked away by the phantom Hyde. I could go on for a while with canon examples.

But why did they do it? Well, that’s easy. All those villains are pretty lonely, and now they just want someone to hold on to this Valentine’s Day. And to make it worse, they all have a catchy 198X song by the one-hit-wonder popbot Rock Astley stuck in their heads. Yes, that Rock Astley. Who became an Internet phenomenon thanks to the meme known as “RockRollN.”

By no means are you required to allude to the music video linked above visually in your art. For some it would add to the humor, for others, probably not. The key concept in this category is merely a villain seizing the object of their desire in the most humorous way possible.

    Prizes
1st: Rare Mattel Megaman NT Warrior ShadeMan.EXE prototype figure with bonus battlechip selection
2nd: Rare Mattel Megaman NT Warrior FreezeMan.EXE prototype figure with bonus battlechip selection
3rd: OCR’s For Everlasting Peace CD or Archie Comics Graphic Novel

CATEGORY 3: Subaru’s Mom Has Got It Goin’ On (Raffle)

    Content Requirements:

    - Draw any sort of Valentine’s Day pic involving Hoshikawa Akane (Hope Stelar)

Sorry, another music reference in this category. But my watchers voted for it. This is gonna be the raffle category. The requirements are painfully easy. MegaMom Star Force imagery.

So, this prize better be good to make us draw something in this category just to appease you Miyabi, you say. OK, fine. I’ll roll the dice and hope I can still find this for a good price next month, without it inflating in rarity too much. Otherwise the winner will probably be getting my set.

    Prizes
One randomly chosen winner, pulling a name out of a random internet generator, will get a 20th Anniversary Rockman X Sound Box Set.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Only submit your own work, as usual. Any character, major or minor, from any series is allowed, to go along with the characters required in each category. Pairing characters from different series is totally allowed. Again, to be fair to all, same-gender groupings are allowed.

Participants are allowed to submit from all over the world. It’s easier for me to get prizes to US entrants however, because international shipping is complicated and pricey, but I’ll do what I can for you guys who aren’t in the States. In some cases, a cash payout through Paypal might be the best option for your winnings.

Entries do not need to be colored, but it is preferred.

Entries can either be e-mailed to me at rock2125[at]hotmail[dot]com, or you can just PM/note me a link to your pic.

DO NOT post your pics in this thread, in your fanart threads or dA galleries until the contest is over. This is the fairest way for competitive reasons. I prefer to keep them all secret until the deadline has passed.

I'll edit a confirmed entry list in this thread when I receive them. So you won't be in the dark about whether or not I've received your entry.

DEADLINE:

The deadline for this contest will be Friday, February 14th, by 11:59PM CST IS OVER. This gives you exactly a full month + one week from this announcement to submit your artwork.

MISCELLANEOUS INFO:

As usual, If you don't plan to enter, but would like to help me judge, please let me know through PM or mention so in this journal. Thanks to all my usual judges, and I’ll gladly let you help with it again if you’re willing.

The news section needed a little bump in activity...-u-'

Christmas is over, Megaversaries have passed, and once again there is a strange love in the air. It's time for my almost-annual Megaman Valentine's Day Contest shenanigans!

As usual, there will be two categories, one that focuses on humor, and one that focuses on talent. This gives you two chances to submit something and win. Voting was open at my dA page for category themes again this year, although this time around, the top choice and 5th most popular were chosen. Had to mix it up a bit.

PRIZES:

Sounds like most of you like the option of picking your prize, so the grand prize winners of each category will be able to get the prize of their choice, at $50 USD or less. Want a  Bandai D-Arts figure or one from Kotobukiya before they disappear? Soundtracks like We Are Rock-Men! 2 or Rockman Holic? Got something else in mind you've wanted to get from eBay, but haven't had the cash? Want a year subscription to dA? It's yours. As long as it's under $50, it's game. A cash prize through Paypal is also an option.

The second place winners will get a prize of their choice under $25, so something like a T-shirt from the Official Capcom Store, an Archie Comics subscription, or a 6-month dA subscription.

The third place winners will get a prize of their choice under $15, with options like Bobble Budds, Epic Scents air fresheners, keychains, an Archie Comics graphic novel or a 3-month dA sub. And I'll probably throw in some random Link/Progress/Advanced Battlechips as usual.

Yes again, that's me giving you guys nearly $200 in prizes. I am so broke because of y'all.

RULES:

Two categories, which you are allowed to enter in both if you would like. If you place (or place higher) in one category, you will be automatically disqualified from the other, for reasons of fairness, and to give other people a chance to win a prize.

CATEGORY 1: 50 SHADES OF ASHE AND GREY (Humor)

When you all voted for this category, you all wanted to draw some kinky bondage, didn't you? Admit it. Perverts. Well, sorry to disappoint, but that's not what this category is about.

A common characteristic of romance is blushing, from some sort of lovestruck emotion to embarrassment around someone you have feelings for. Hey, we all can get nervous around beautiful people! And in the case of this category, I want you to show us either Ashe or Grey from the ZX series looking a little flushed while falling for any other character(s) of your choice. How red they get probably will depend on who or what scenario you draw that is making them blush so much. But a blushing Ashe or Grey must be part of your pic.

Your humor can push the limit a bit, but we're not looking for art that is purposely inspired by 50 Shades of Grey here. This theme will work as the humor category, so the judging will focus on how funny the content you come up with is.

Content Requirements:
- Ashe or Grey from ZXA
- Blushing

CATEGORY 2: I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT FABIO-LOUS! (Talent)

While the Humor Category theme references a romance novel in its title, the Talent Category will continue the literary connection by actually focusing on a romance novel cover itself.

If there is one word synonymous with romance books, it would be Harlequin. And if there is one man synonymous with Harlequin book covers, it's Fabio. But Fabio isn't part of the Megaman Universe. Yet... However, we do have one character who is quite faaaab, and who would make any woman swoon. And that would be Jewel Man.

As humorous as this idea sounds, it is going to require major talent to turn Jewel Man into a ripped, muscular, partially-dressed lover with endless, flowing locks around his giant, jeweled, Muppet-looking head. Do you have what it takes to make a Robot Master covered in jewels look uber-manly, and quite simply, Fabio-lous?

For this category you will need to create a fictional Harlequin novel cover concept, and it must have Jewel Man as your male lead. You can choose any female character from any other Megaman series to include in your mock cover. To win in this category, you will have to prove you can whip up a creative story title to go with a scene oozing with passion, including long, flowing locks of hair blowing in the wind, and with clothing that leaves just enough to the imagination, such as open shirts revealing major, oiled-up muscle tone and ample cleavage, without being too revealing. And if you want to grace us with a blurb of the worst fanfiction ever to go along with your cover, the better!

Obviously this category might come across as a little more risqué, but any submission with blatant nudity will not be allowed. Implied nudity, tastefully covered, will get the OK. This theme will work as the talent category, so the judging will focus on the work and effort you put into your piece. If this category doesn't create the greatest pieces of fanart ever in the Megaman community, I don't know what will.

Content Requirements:
- Emulate a Harlequin Novel Cover
- Jewel Man
- Additional female character of your choice

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Only submit your own work, as usual. Any character, major or minor, from any series is allowed, to go along with the character(s) required in each category. Pairing characters from different series is totally allowed. Again, to be fair to all, same-gender groupings are allowed, although I would prefer the Talent Category to stick to a hetero-pairing, as to fit with the theme. Humans and robots and reploids and servbots and computer programs and viruses and alien AM/FM beings, etc. all deserve their chance for some lovin', without prejudice!!

Participants are allowed to submit from all over the world. It's easier for me to get prizes to US entrants, because international shipping is complicated and pricey, but I'll do what I can for you guys who aren't in the States. In some cases, Paypal might be the best option for your winnings.

Entries do not need to be colored, but it is preferred.

Please keep all your entries appropriate for most ages. No extremely suggestive sexual content. No, this is still not a Valentine's hentai contest.

Entries can either be e-mailed to me at rock2125[at]hotmail[dot]com, or you can just PM/note me a link to your pic.

DO NOT
post your pics in this thread, in your fanart threads or dA galleries until the contest is over. This is the fairest way for competitive reasons. I prefer to keep them all secret until the deadline has passed.

I'll edit a confirmed entry list in this thread when I receive them. So you won't be in the dark about whether or not I've received your entry.

DEADLINE:

The deadline for this contest IS OVER!!! This gives you just over a month from this announcement to create something.

MISCELLANEOUS INFO:

- As usual, If you don't plan to enter, but would like to help me judge, please let me know through PM or mention so in this thread. Thanks to all my usual judges, and I'll gladly let you help with it again if you're willing.

News and Announcements / Miyabi Holds New Contest, Spambots Rejoice!
« on: August 29, 2012, 04:07:38 AM »
Accredited locksmith psychiatrists with great content articles, this is not for you! Although I do take pride in giving you all great, exceptional information and completing fantastic jobs, and totally welcome that praise. But now I ask you all here at RPM to be the ones completing fantastic jobs for me, so that you shall be rewarded with rockin' prizes!

Since the internet gods apparently were giving me a sign to start spamming my own plugs today, I'm here to announce another small fanart contest for anyone who is interested in joining.

Rock/Techno Album Cover Fanart Contest

RULES:

Two categories as usual, and you are allowed to enter in both if you would like. If you place in one category, you will be automatically disqualified from the other, for reasons of fairness, and to give other people a chance to win a prize.

CATEGORY 1: ROCK
~ Album front and back cover

CATEGORY 2: TECHNO
~ Album front and back cover

When the 25th Anniversary Rock and Techno soundtracks were announced, a lot of people weren't thrilled with the concept of another Classic-only remix CD, when other series haven't gotten much love in the official mix realm. Others didn't care for the lazy CD cover sprites or bland typography. They just don't really scream "Rock" or "Techno." So your goal in this contest is to revamp the CD by creating your own album cover art that you think would better suit both a true 25th album, and give the art that "rock" or "techno" appeal. Put your frustrations to bed and prove to the world what would really make a great anniversary album!

At the moment, we don't know what tracks will for sure be on either album, but everyone has their opinion on what they would like to hear on them. The other half of this contest is to also create a back cover, showcasing the stages/themes you would like to see on this 25th Anniversary Rock or Techno album. 10 Tracks? 17? 25? You make the call.

As we're having fun with this, you do not have to use Classic Series songs or characters only. If you think this album should be more X-flavored or Battle Network-heavy, you can incorporate that into your album art and song choices. Be creative, and show us what you think would make a great CD! The back does not need to be art-intensive, but the more effort you put into your design work, the better. The judging will mostly focus on your art for the front cover, but any additional pieces created for the back (or a full-blown booklet if you want to be that ambitious) will be taken into consideration in the overall judging. Your song choices have no bearing in the judging. That would be cruel.

PRIZES:

There will just be two winners for each category this time around.

* First place winner in the Rock Category takes home a copy of the Rockman 25th Anniversary Rock CD.
Techno Category winner gets a copy of the 25th Anniversary Techno CD.

* The second place winners of each category will receive their choice of a 3-month dA subscription or an Archie Comics Megaman Graphic Novel.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Image size: Any size is OK, but please try to make your image canvas size a perfect square for the front cover. For example, 850 pixels x 850 pixels or 1500 pixels x 1500 pixels. Not 350 x 734. You have a little more freedom extending the length of the back cover.

Only submit your own work, as usual. Any character, major or minor, from any series is allowed.  Participants are allowed to submit from all over the world. It's easier for me to get prizes to US entrants, because international shipping is complicated and pricey, but I'll do what I can for you guys who aren't in the States.

Kids, ask your parents' permission first, as I will need your full mailing address to send the prize.

Entries do not need to be fully colored, but it is preferred.

Please keep all your entries appropriate for most ages. No nudity or extremely suggestive sexual content in your raves and mosh pit and backstage groupie art.

I'll edit a confirmed entry list in this journal when I receive them. So you won't be in the dark about whether or not I've received your entry.

DEADLINE:

The deadline for this contest will be Sunday, October 7th 14th, by 11:59 PM CST. This is a couple days before the CDs release, so that hopefully I can get the prizes to the winners as close to the release date as possible, shipping time depending, of course.

So, if you have any questions, feel free to let me know. Join in if you'd like and good luck to everyone who enters!

Recently-created contest post hyper-combo finish!

After a one year hiatus, I'm back to spend more of my hard earned cash on you peoples. Miyabi's Legendary Rockman Valentine’s Day Fanart Contest Never Dies!! (Don’t think I’m gonna get 10 dozen strong on that one… ;D )

As in the past, there will be two categories, one that focuses on humor, and one that focuses on talent. This gives you two chances to submit something and win. And once again, these categories were voted on by my deviantART watchers.

<u>PRIZES: </u>

I'll still give you guys the option of picking your prize, so the grand prize winners of each category will be able to choose the prize of their choice, at $40 USD or less. Still haven't gotten a standard Bandai D-Arts X or Kotobukiya Zero? I should be able to foot the bill for it. UDON Megaman Tribute? Sure thing. Got something else in mind you've wanted to get from eBay, but haven't had the cash? I'll do what I can. Want a year subscription to dA? It's yours. As long as it's under $40, it's game. A cash prize through Paypal is also an option.

To go along with that, I have a few Rockman.EXE Xebec production artwork sketches available to distribute. They are from the first season. The choices include one of Blues, Netto, Enzan, Yaito, Devil Roll, and a small army of Metool/Biree viruses. The first place winners have the first choice at one sketch, to have their own piece of the animated series:

The second place winners of each category will be next in line to choose one sketch. They also will receive their choice of a 3-month dA subscription or an Archie Comics Megaman Graphic Novel.

The third place winners will be the last to choose one sketch. And I’ll probably throw in some random Link Battlechips for good measure.

<u>RULES: </u>

Two categories; you are allowed to enter in both if you would like. If you place in one category, you will be automatically disqualified from the other, for reasons of fairness (and to give other people a chance to win a prize).

<b><u>CATEGORY 1: MEGAMAN DATING FORCE (Humor)</u></b>

It’s been a rough year for Megaman when it comes to new games. Let’s face it, we all are hoping Capcom will do something different with the character, rather than repeating the same old formula over and over again. So, let’s pretend that the next Megaman game they plan to create ventures into new territory: a dating sim. Your goal for this category is to show us what this dating sim would look like. What do you have to say to get a Robot Master to go out with your character? What gift would you get a NetOp who has fallen for you? Will a marriage between you and your Navigator co-worker keep your bonds strong, or cause disruption when you are just trying to do your job? How do you woo a hot, single mother whose astronaut husband mysteriously vanished in space years ago and has yet to come back home?

Draw a screenshot, a game cover, make a flash, whatever you’d like, as long as it fits with the dating sim theme. Your humor can push the limit a bit, but try not to get too dirty. While there are more mature aspects to relationships, this is not a contest for a porn sim. This theme will work as the humor category, so the judging will focus on the wacky, zany content you come up with.

<b><u>CATEGORY 2: RIBBONS AND LACE (Talent)</u></b>

Ribbons, lace, and frilly things have always been synonymous with romance. They can also be really tough to draw! According to history buffs, the relation goes back to the days of the Middle Ages, when knight(man)s battled in tournaments, ladies would tie their scarves or ribbons around the arm or lance of the knight that they favored. So put in every ounce of your strength to draw some Megaman characters decorating for the holiday with their love or dressing up in some exquisite ribbons and lace for their significant other.

The only prerequisite is there must be at least one ribbon or something lacy in the image. Again, nothing dirty. You can be a little risqué, but no blatant nudity is allowed. This theme will work as the talent category, so the judging will focus on the work and effort you put into your piece.

<u>SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: </u>

- Only submit your own work, as usual. Any character, major or minor, from any series is allowed. Having characters from multiple series are totally allowed. Again, to be fair to all, same-gender groupings are allowed. Humans and robots and reploids and servbots and computer programs and viruses and alien AM/FM beings, etc. all deserve their chance for some lovin', without prejudice!!

- Participants are allowed to submit from all over the world. It’s easier for me to get prizes to US entrants, because international shipping is complicated and pricey, but I’ll do what I can for you guys who aren’t in the States. In some cases, Paypal might be the best option for your winnings.

- Entries do not need to be colored, but it is preferred.

- Please keep all your entries appropriate for most ages. No nudity or extremely suggestive sexual content. No, this is still not a Valentine's hentai contest. Lingerie or skimpy man briefs: I'll allow it. Nekked ladies showing the world what they got: I'll definitely look at them, but they will be disqualified until they get covered up.

- Entries can either be e-mailed to me at <b>rock2125[at]hotmail[dot]com</b>, or you can just PM/note me a link to your pic.

- DO NOT post your pics in this thread, in your fanart threads or dA galleries until the contest is over. This is the fairest way for competitive reasons. I prefer to keep them all secret until the deadline has passed.

- I'll edit a confirmed entry list in this thread when I receive them. So you won't be in the dark about whether or not I've received your entry.

<u>DEADLINE: </u>

The deadline for this contest will be <b>Tuesday, February 14th, by midnight CST. </b> This gives you about a month to get something drawn.

<u>MISCELLANEOUS INFO: </u>

- As usual, If you don't plan to enter, but would like to help me judge, please let me know through note/PM or mention so in this journal. Thanks to all my usual judges, and I’ll gladly let you help with it again if you’re willing.

So, if you have any questions, feel free to let me know. Join in if you'd like and good luck to everyone who enters!

News and Announcements / Capcom-Unity Contest the Third
« on: July 02, 2010, 03:38:47 AM »
Well, this one isn't completely Mega Man related. But enough of it is. And it involves another rare Mega Man prize, so that makes it newsworthy.

After holding two recent batches of fanart contests focusing solely on a certain series (Classic and Zero), things are getting mixed up a bit over at Capcom Unity. Now it's time for some creative crossovers.

Being called "Worlds of Capcom," the only requirements for this contest are that you create some type of NEW art that contains some kind of Capcom-series crossover. All characters in your pic must be property of Capcom. And preferably be PG-13 in content.

There will be multiple winners again, as chosen by Capcom employees from the US, Europe and Japan. Prizes seem to have something in common: autographs. From the rules page, they include: "a Mega Man t-shirt signed and drawn on by Inafune-san, an autographed (by Inafune-san) Zombrex: Dead Rising Sun movie script (this is pending), an autographed copy of Monster Hunter Tri (signed by the producer and director), RE5 poster signed by the dev team, and MORE."

The deadline for this contest is Monday, July 12th, at 9 AM PST. As usual, send a link to your entry to jgonzo with the subject "Capcom Worlds Fan Art" and a short description of what your pic is all about. Only one submission per person.

News and Announcements / Rockman.EXE Beast Subbed Finale Released!
« on: June 26, 2010, 06:16:48 AM »
I'm sure there may be a lot of you who wondered if certain Rockman anime fansubs would ever be completed. After all, it's been about 9 months since an episode has been released by anyone in the community. And the EXE anime itself has now been off the air for 4 years. We can all understand people's frustrations about the whole process, but are grateful for those who have been patient enough to stick around to see a series finished off.

So that's why I'm making a short little public service announcement today to let you all know that the final three episodes of Rockman.EXE Beast have been released by Puku Anime fansubs in joint cooperation with WolfPackProductions!! You can download the newly released episodes 23-25, along with any others you have missed, from the tracker HERE.

To continue on with the good news, all of us on the team have been working a bit harder as of late and our progress on the Beast+ series is moving along at a rapid pace. Over half the series has been edited, and many episodes are already being prepped for release as well. The plan is to release all of those episodes in higher-quality MKV files. Keep an eye on things within the next two weeks for a few more pleasant surprises...  ;)

And if things continue to run smoothly, the plan is to help out with Stream once Beast+ is wrapped up. Episodes are currently being translated, so work actually has begun on that series as well.

Enjoy!

News and Announcements / Zero Fanart Contest Begins at Capcom Unity
« on: May 11, 2010, 06:07:10 AM »
After the success of the Mega Man 10 Contests and recent Mega Man Zero T-Shirt contest, Capcom-Unity is holding yet another fanart contest.

Starting this week, and continuing for another 3, all you have to do is draw something relating to a specific Zero game. Unless there is some twist, it probably will just go in order, with this week focusing on the first Zero game. So in other words, resist drawing some Neige this week, everyone.

Each week, one winner will take home a copy of Udon's Mega Man Zero Official Complete Works and a copy of the Mega Man Zero Collection when it releases on June 8th. Judging won't be public this time around, it'll all be handled by Capcom reps.

Again, to enter, you have to have a Unity account. Just PM jgonzo a link to your art, with the subject "Mega Man Zero Fan Art: Week _____" and a short description of your piece.

Week 1 (Megaman Zero) Deadline: Monday, May 17th, 9 AM PST
Week 2 (Megaman Zero 2) Deadline: Monday, May 24th, 9 AM PST
Week 3 (Megaman Zero 3) Deadline: Tuesday, June 1st, 9 AM PST
Week 4 (Megaman Zero 4) Deadline: Monday, June 7th, 9 AM PST

Now that Gonzo has received her copy of the manga from me, I can go ahead and post this and spoil the goodies for the rest of you.  8)

Unlike the first volume of Gigamix, and actually most of Megamix, Volume 2 is more of a consistent, flowing story, rather than a couple different tales broken up. The book still contains 5 separate chapters for this tale. It includes two special pieces of artwork to begin the book. The first page is a monochrome sketch that includes Rockman, Roll, Blues and Shadow Man. The second is a color, oil-based painting-like portrait bust of Dr. Wily. There are some allusions to incidents in Volume 1, but for the most part it is it's own new story.

The book starts out taking us back to the asteroid from Vol. 1, where we see the remains of the Gamma battle. Namely his head. A few panels later, the asteroid has beams of light shooting out of it, like something is about to make it explode. Back on Earth, Blues is tinkering with his buster. Suddenly he grabs at his chest and collapses on the ground in severe pain. Tango leaps to see what's wrong. Back in space, the asteroid does explode, and a comet-like figure shoots out of it. We see an ominous robot in from of Rock, who is then blown up right in front of a screaming Roll!

As we turn the page, thankfully, Roll was just having a bad dream. However, she looks outside to see Rock staring up into space as something comes crashing to the Earth. The object from space collides with a familiar skull-shaped island. Forte and the RM7 RMs are the first on the scene. Out of a cloud of smoke, the same robot from Roll's dream emerges.

The RM3 RMs also arrive to help, but on the next page, Skull Castle is in flames. Wily tries to watch the battle on his monitor, when it suddenly explodes. The alien bot is ready to attack Wily, who is being protected by Shadow Man.

The RM2 RMs are the next wave to battle, while Shadow Man takes Wily to a giant Hogale Whale airship to escape. Shade Man is waiting there for them. Unfortunately for Wily, the alien is still after him. It busts through the wall, tracking the old man everywhere he goes. Quick Man follows, and tries blocking all the bot's attacks with his Quick Boomerang. The alien bot kicks it up a notch by firing off a good dozen lazers. About time Quick gets a taste of his own stage! LOL He moves in for a powerful attack, but his Quick Boomerang and right hand shatter and break apart from the impact. This is definitely no ordinary robot. Suddenly it charges it's power up and releases explosive energy, blowing up the entire island. Wily's airship, piloted by Shade Man, barely flies out of the plume of smoke.

The alien trails the ship, so Shade releases a wave of minibosses, including Giant Met, Van Pookin, Hannya NED². They all go boom immediately. And so does the ship. Poor Wily is done for! But wait...his head has a spring on it. It was all a decoy! Or at least they were able to escape inside of Gamerizer when the Hogale crashed into the ocean. Somehow they seem to have ditched the alien robot, and they arrive in the city to find Rock and the Light bots waiting for them. Shadow Man gets on his knees and seems to beg Dr. Light and his creations to help Wily. The old man doesn't really seem to want their help, and Roll ends up tying him up with some rope as they go back to stately Light manor.

But of course, we all knew it wouldn't be that easy. Mr. Persistant is at it again and blows his way into Light's house. Shadow Man's attacks do nothing, but at least he stayed together better than Quick. Rock tells him to stand back, and gets ready to fight. But again, the alien bot would rather go kamikaze and blow himself up again. As he charges up and his hand glows with an awesome power, telling him to defeat Rockman, Ice Man fires off his Ice Slasher attack and freezes the alien's arm. Guts Man and Fire Man grab on to the alien, holding him down and allowing Rock to fuse with Rush, turning into Super Adaptor mode. Bomb Man lands a bomb to it's chest, while Rock fires off his rocket fist. The alien is ready to block it, but Rock's fist flies up and over it, turns around, and lands a clean punch to the back of the alien's head. It's body starts to crack, so things look good for our heroes! But what's that...

A huge hand is coming out of the alien's body! And one turns into 6, 6 into 14. *Gulp* The alien body explodes, sending a huge fist flying into Cossack's heli-transport vehicle, which is flying onto the scene. After the dust settles, we see the silhouettes of 9 different figures laughing maniacally and with evil grins on their faces. The Stardroids have emerged from the alien robot body.

And they immediately begin attacking the Light robots and the city. Jupiter attacks first with a few bolts of lightning, which slice off both of Cut Man's arms. And of course for some perfect symmetry, Pluto then leaps to slice off one of Elec Man's arms. The Stardroids are hovering farther away in the sky, so Rock hops on Item 2 and Cut rides on Rush. The trio focus their attacks on Terra, only to have Uranus jump in front to crush the Rolling Cutter and Saturn absorb the Elec Beam through his Black Hole. Terra then fires off a Spark Chaser that sends the three crashing back to Earth. Before the chapter closes, the remaining Light bots search through the rubble helping the injured humans and searching for their brothers.

The next chapter opens up with some really cool scenes. The Stardroids take their battles across the world, and what better Robot Masters to fight around the world than the RM6 RMs. Uranus tackles Flame Man, while Neptune's Salt Water erodes Knight Man's best defenses. Saturn's Black Hole pulls Centaur Man apart, while Wind Man finds Jupiter too shocking. Tomahawk Man succumbs to Pluto's Break Dash and Plant Man wilts after getting blown up by Venus' Bubble Bomb. Mars obliterates Blizzard Man. Mercury has fun toying with Yamato Man, both by watching the warrior fail at stabbing his gooey body and then using his Grab Buster to sap away his life. His scene ends with a gruesome silhouette of Mercury crushing Yamato's body with his foot and laughing like mad.

Back on the rescue front, things aren't going too well. Auto is found, but despite their best attempts, neither Fire Man or Shadow Man get any response from his body. Guts Man stands guard over the injured Light and Wily, although Light soon gets up. Bomb Man finds Item 2 and Roll does her best to be cheerful and optimistic, but Ice Man still cries. Then Wily gets up and seems to have something to say about Terra. Then our throwaway character battle royale begins and ends after 6 pages of Terra wiping the floor with a good 100 or so fan-made entries. Wily seems to have struck a nerve with Light, and Light actually grabs his old partner by the shirt and the two get nose to nose in a shouting match.

Their argument is soon broken up when Guts Man is hit by Bubble Bombs. Venus and Jupiter arrive back on the scene to fight.

Meanwhile, Rock is deep underground in a sewer/subway system. Rush, Cut and Elec are safely with him. Elec actually has a few E-Tanks on hand and tosses one to Rock. As they are drinking, Rock hears someone coming and looks freaked out. But no need to be afraid, it's just the RM5 RM's wandering around! Sparkly Ginyu Force Pose time!! I'm pretty sure they're really the ones who had the spare E-Tanks. Gravity Man goes around handing out severed limbs he found lying around and the robots attempt to start surgery, while Gyro Man delivers the news of the RM6 RMs to Rock.

Soon the ceiling of the underground cavern starts to shake, and it seems Gravity Man is the one doing it! What the...he starts convulsing and...ewww... Mercury oozes out of Gravity's body! Uranus pops out of nowhere and impales Stone Man. The others know they need to help save Rock and the injured Light bots, so Star Man places the three in a special Star Barrier. Wave Man's Water Wave pushes them into Charge Man's care, and Mr. Choo Choo chugs at full speed with them in a car attached to him. He's going at full speed, while Rock is forced to watch Wave, Star, Gyro, Crystal and Napalm easily destroyed by Uranus. Charge hits the end of the line rather quickly, as well, and the trio goes flying.

Charge gets sucked into a Black Hole, where Saturn stands on his carcass of a head. Seeing the scrap parts of the locomotive enrages Rock, and everyone fires away at Saturn, Mercury and Uranus.

We then flashback to Blues for a little, who is still in pain on the ground. He dreams of Dr. Light, and a phonograph machine playing a particular tune. Then a silhouette of Wily is seen, along with memories of waking up with his Break Man buster, and previous Gigamix Vol. 1 fight with Rock. A crystal is also on that page. On the next page, he sees the Light bots, Shadow, Rock, Forte, Gemini, Skull and Reggae, and then finally Dr. Light's face on that crystal. The crystal starts to break, and we see Blues' own silhouette on it.

Blues then wakes up, and Tango nudges an E-Tank to him. But the kitty hears something and pounces. It's Terra, walking sideways down the wall of a building. The fights continue both underground and on the surface, but Terra just hovers over the Earth. Suddenly the Stardroids all stop and look up to the sky. Terra begins summoning a black noise-like ball out of his hand.

It grows and grows and envelops the town in darkness. People look up to the sky in fear. And then an eye opens. Dark Moon has awakened. Yes, Ariga's version of Dark Moon looks more like Ra Moon, with both Ra Moon's markings under the eye, and his always round shape, but Terra does call it by name as Dark Moon. It glares down at the Statue of Liberty. It emits some kind of noise that sends people running from the L'arc de Triumph. Camels go insane in the Middle East, it envelops the Great Wall of China and causes more people in Hawaii, London, etc., to go mad. While the Stardroids are distracted and practically the whole world is in chaos, Rock and Elec team an attack that strikes Saturn. Cut Man leaps in the air with Rush and...YES! Cut Rush Adaptor!!

With Rolling Cutter Fist of Doom!! But slicing through Mercury does nothing. Then we're quickly treated to a three-page flashback of young Light and Wily.

Back in the present, Roll stands in front of Light and Wily to protect them. But Venus leaps in and has his buster right in her face. Right before his Bubble Bomb is released from it, a giant hand shields her from it's explosion. The fist then punches Venus right in the gut. But it wasn't Guts Man to the rescue. It's...DUO!!!

Venus has been destroyed! Everyone looks up in surprise. And on the final page, we see parts of the city in shambles, Blues back on the ground unable to move, and Dark Moon hovering over the city ominously.

TO BE CONTINUED IN GIGAMIX VOLUME 3.

To conclude the book, there is a simple 2-page comic from Ariga with him and a tiny Heat Man. There is also a short afterward by Shigeto Ikehara with his drawings of Eddie, Wily, Roll and a chibi Rockman. Following that, there is one page from Koji Izuki that has an angry Duo ready to grab Wily, who is trying to run away as fast as possible. And then finally the preview for Volume 3 shows Rockman, Blues and Forte (in Gospel Boost mode) with the Earth behind them, and Dark Moon on the opposing page.

Overall, this book was very entertaining, filled with surprises. Ariga definitely went with a unique take on connecting the Stardroids and the MM8 scenario. The darker, grittier tone definitely shined, and it was actually pretty fun to see how overpowering the Stardroids were. Of course Ariga's artwork continues to become more refined and detailed, and this book will easily please fans of his style, on top of garnering him even more supporters. A lot of fans are no doubt excited and pleased to see he included so many entries from his "throwaway character" contest in some form; a whopping 100 of them were shown in the book! Even if they didn't get much page time, he did a great job of drawing so many of these fan-made characters, without really altering any of their designs.

It will be interesting to see how much of Volume 3 focuses on Duo and perhaps some form of evil energy, which the Stardroids totally seem drugged up on. And I'm sure many fans are eagerly anticipating the introduction of Rockman 8's Robot Masters, or perhaps even some storyline that uses 9 or 10's. Hopefully by this summer we'll know more. In any case, yet another wonderful manga, which hopefully will be translated by UDON at some point in the future. Go out and grab this version if you can! Especially if your character made it in!

This was started at TMMN. I was working on identifying and linking to every "winner" of Ariga's throwaway character contest in Gigamix 2. I got a little help from one of the winning participants, zoniken, at translating a few of the names. Many of these I just translated through Google Translate or Babelfish, so if you notice any errors in their names or who drew them, feel free to let me know that, too. All entries can be found HERE. I need to work on reformatting all the links to each original piece, because I unfortunately can't copy the BB code onto this forum (or at least haven't figured out how to import it correctly). And I'm redoing the keys tonight, so they will be accurate. First two key scans are credited to AWD!, but they will be replaced with my own as I redo them:

News and Announcements / Rockman 10 Image Soundtrack Info
« on: March 05, 2010, 06:55:15 AM »

Looks like we have our first glimpse at the cover of what will be the Rockman 10 Arranged Soundtrack. And this time around, it's art from a different Rockman manga artist: Koji Izuki, of Rockman 8 and Rockman and Forte fame. The CD will have a 28-page color booklet, so you have to wonder how many different artists will have something in there, or if we'll be getting a special comic by Izuki this time around.

According to Heat Man at TMMN, the Image Soundtrack will contain 21 tracks worked on by composers from the Rockman 10 sountrack, along with Masato Koda (Monster Hunter, Devil May Cry), Yoshino Aoki (Mega Man Battle Network, Mega Man Star Force), Saori Utsumu (Mega Man Xtreme), and Seiko Kobuchi (Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X).

Just like the RM9AST, there will be a vocal track of the ending theme. But there will also be a second vocal track which was actually written by Hitoshi Ariga, but performed by DigitalSPicyDuck, featuring Tohru Itoga. There are also going to be a few drama tracks this time around, with Wily and Light providing the dialogue. If only one sounded like a Japanese Elmer Fudd and the other had a heavy German-Japanese accent... 8D

The disc is set to release on April 30th.

News and Announcements / Become a Rockman/Mega Man Package Designer!
« on: March 05, 2010, 06:32:50 AM »
Apparently Gerald de Jesus' retro cover art just wasn't enough. Now Capcom is putting game package design in our hands with their newly announced contest. This is pretty interesting, because it was initially started by Capcom of Japan, but this time around they are encouraging worldwide participation.

You can actually choose either version to create: A more horizontal Japanese Famicom "Rockman" box, which gives you about 4.6 x 3 inches of space, or the vertical American NES "Mega Man" box, in which you can fit something 4.2 x 6 inches. Your artwork needs to be something new and original for this contest, they won't accept art from previous contests (such as CU's weekly MM10 robot master challenge).

The deadline for this contest is April 20th, so there is a good month and a half to create something.

English entries need to be submitted through PM to jgonzo at Capcom Unity. The subject of your PM needs to read "Mega Man Package Contest." Along with your entry link (which needs to be uploaded onto your Capcom Unity public photo gallery), also be sure to include your name and a short little description of your submission.

Be sure to visit any of the links I've given to get the full details, along with templates, logos, a handy assembly guide and more. All the submissions will become property of Capcom, of course. While we don't yet know what else, if anything, the winners will receive, we do know that winners will have their projects displayed on the Japanese website NICONI COMMONS, which kinda sounds like a deviantART or Pixiv-style website.

News credit to all the usual suspects, but mostly to KG for the tip much earlier today.

News and Announcements / Valentine's Day Contest Results Thread
« on: February 24, 2010, 02:27:14 AM »
After a little delay in the contest, it's time to announce who has stolen our hearts and taken home some wonderful prizes. This year we had 4 contestants in the Talent Category and 6 in the Humor/Content Category. Again, both categories had their own theme, ripped from the charts...back in the 80's. XD The theme for Talent was "It's a Nice Day for a White Wedding", while Content was "You Give Love a Bad Name."

Below you will see Vixy's wonderful mugshots for each entry. Those thumbs link directly to each artist's page, which also contains the judge's commentary. Vixy updated the contest page again to focus on this particular one, but don't worry, the Swim Contest results will still be there. Until the main page link is updated, you can reach the contest page right here.

Thanks once again to everyone who took the time to enter. I'm sorry I can't give prizes out to everyone, especially when there were fewer entries. You all did a fantastic job with your entries. The humor category was especially tight, and really could have gone any way. All of the judges had varying results, and the final scores were extremely tight.

Big thank you also to Vixy for being the hostess with the mostess and giving me some place to actually display these pictures prominently among our community, rather than just on whatever crappy free webspace I can find. Give her a hand for her hard work with the webdesign, too.

Finally, thank you to all the judges who volunteered to help out (even the one I forgot volunteered... -AC -u-') both this year and in year's past. I can't do this alone, so I appreciate all the help you've given me. It always helps to have so many differing points of view.

I seriously was intending for this to be the final year of my contest. Honestly, I was telling myself that this past summer, even though I didn't want to publicly state it, especially then. But you never say never, so I'll leave the door open a crack. If there is a next time, I hope to see you all participating again. If not, thanks for these wonderful past 4 years of pics, all!!!!  8)

And now, what you've all been waiting for. HARDCORE NUDITY...oh, wait, I mean the results and actual images:

News and Announcements / Gigamix Vol. 2 Release Date
« on: February 04, 2010, 11:09:08 PM »
Hitoshi Ariga updated his blog today in order to give us a concrete date for the release of Volume 2 of Rockman Gigamix. And that date is at the end of this month, on Saturday, February 27th. Just a few days after Udon's English adaptation of Megamix hits stores, actually. Gigamix 2 is going to retail for about 1,200 Yen. It sounds like he has been working really hard to complete this volume, and really wants to take a break, but he still has so much more to do, such as getting a cover prepared.

Unfortunately, there isn't even a slight tease yet about the fate of any of our 'throw-away character' designs for this volume, but perhaps we will still learn before the books hit shelves. If not, Ariga is keeping it as a surprise until we can see for ourselves on the 27th.

News and Announcements / Capcom-Unity Hosts Mega Man 10 Fanart Contest
« on: January 19, 2010, 12:34:08 AM »
While there are obviously much more important fanart contests going on right now *cough*lessthanamonthleft*cough*, Capcom-Unity just launched a cool new contest with some pretty outstanding prizes. The contest will run weekly into March, leading up to Mega Man 10's release date.

Each week there will be an artistic battle royale, with the theme being for you to draw something featuring one of the 8 MM10 Robot Masters. First up is COMMANDO MAN.

You can only submit one picture per week. Entries will be due Friday mornings at 7 AM PST, and then all the entries will be put up in a poll for Unity members to vote on. Each week, somebody will win a copy of BOTH the Mega Man and Mega Man X Official Complete Works. And to make things even better, the winning entries each week will be entered into the finals, where the grand prize winner will receive an autographed sketch from Inafune and Ariga. One of those that we saw during the 22nd Anniversary Broadcast. Can't get any more awesome than that!

Cool thing is, those of us who have already drawn a pic featuring any given Robot Master (you know who you are) can submit them. All pics, regardless if they even appeared on the Unity site already, are eligible. But you're still going to have to work fast if you plan to enter every week.

To enter, just send your art in a PM to jgonzo with the subject clearly stating "Commando Man Art Submission" [obviously for each following week, just switch the RM's name].

C'mon, let's give 'em an RPM-filled finals!

JetZero's review of the the Mega Man Official Complete Works got me in the mood to do what I've been meaning to do for the RPM wiki a long time ago. And that is actually summarizing and giving you all a visual tour of what's in so many of the Rockman manga and artbooks I have. I'm just incredibly slow at it. ^^;

Exactly the same size as the Rockman Zero and Ryuusei no Rockman Official Complete Works, the Rockman.EXE Official Complete Works is divided into four separate chapters. The table of contents also has a short section with the release dates of every game from the series.

~ Chapter 1: Graphic (pages 3-24)

This section contains beautiful full-page artwork that was most commonly used for promotional purposes, ranging from EXE 2's back-to-back HeatGuts Style Rockman and normal Rock, to EXE 5's Forte Cross Rockman gold vs. silver battle, to the newer EXE OSS promotional art. It also contains the game cover art for each title. Variations included in the case of EXE 3 onward, of course.

~ Chapter 2: Character (pages 25-49: Humans, pages 50-89: Navis, pages 90-94: Viruses)

As you probably expected, this section shows off all of the official artwork for both humans and Navis. Humans come first, led off by Netto in all his various incarnations, his family, and best friends. Next is a single page for the villains, including Wily, Regal, Shun, and the Professor. (Good news! Oh my, yes...) From that point on, NetOps are displayed by order they first appeared. For example, the very first NetOp is Hinoken. His EXE 1 artwork is the largest, but his EXE 2, 3 and 6 art is also on that same page. There is no alphabetical rhyme or reason to who is on what page, so I assume it was mostly arranged to fit based on how many pieces of art each character had. Each character has their name listed next to their Navi's crest, along with another number. That number actually corresponds to the page their concept artwork is on in Chapter 3 of this book.

Following the Humans are their Navi counterparts. As expected, Rockman leads off. His pages not only include his official art, but some battlechip imagery for Rockman-themed chips like Sword Mode, Kawairimi, Invisible and Iai Form. That is followed by his official form artwork: Style Changes, Soul Unisons, Beast Outs and Crosses. There is a small section with one piece of art for helper programs (Tango, Rush, Beat and Mr. Prog.) mixed in with the Style Changes. The format is similar to the humans in that Rock is followed by his friends, Roll, Blues, Guts and Glyde. Then Navis are shown by the first game they appeared in, with all of their art on the same page. Shadowman for example first appeared in EXE 1, so his art from that game appears along with his art from EXE 2, 4.5, 5 Team of Colonel, and four different chip artworks. It's neat that most Navis have their Mega or Giga battlechip artwork also next to their official art, even if those images aren't nearly as big as they should be. There are some exceptions, such as Iceman, Laserman, and every Navi from EXE 6, who don't have any chip artwork. Why EXE 6's chip art is missing is puzzling to me, considering they got even more use in the arcade game Battle Chip Stadium, and the most current. At the very end of the Navi pages, the bosses get some love, and again, most have chip art.

To finish off this Chapter, viruses from each game get their fifteen minutes of official art fame. Still divided by game from 1-6. Although in their case, there never was "new" official art each game for returning viruses, so once you've seen the Mettaur art from EXE1, there is no newer version from any of the following titles.

~ Chapter 3: Draft (pages 95-115: Humans, pages 116-150: Navis, pages 151-157: Viruses, pages 158-160: Anime)

The numbers by each character's name in Chapter 2 leads you to their concept artwork in Chapter 3. In Chapter 3, the reverse is true. So that's kind of a nice feature if you're looking for a certain character's imagery. The format is the exact same as in Chapter 2. While most of these concepts were featured in EXE no Himitsu, there still are many new nuggets to gaze in amazement at. Some range from mere color scheme alterations, to drastic physical changes or even different demeanors.

In the case of Navis who were contest entry winners, such as Gateman, Bowlman, Laserman or Clockman, their entry art is also featured. While Laserman's look appears to have absolutely no difference in design (other than the fact that his original entry looked like he was drawn by a 4-year old), somebody like Cosmoman is totally different from the original winning entry. And it's neat to have a look at the various concepts he went through before becoming the character we all know. Some Navis also have multiple options for their Navi Crests. Zero's other options were kind of neat, and they did consider his X-series trademark "Z" in a unique way. Thankfully there is more artwork for the Transmission Navis in this section. In the Character Chapter, only Starman and Zero have full-body artworks. Needle, Bright, Sword and Gravity have their detailed artwork in this section only. Other goodies in this chapter include height charts from almost every game, along with art for all the generic NPCs, who were shown no love in Chapter 2.

Viruses have a few more pages themselves, and then the chapter ends with some concept work from the anime. Most of the anime's imagery just contains sketches of Team Cross Fusion. All 13 members have their art included, but the biggest focus for whatever reason is on CF Rockman, Medi, and Miss Magnetbirthinghips. Special pieces include CF Kurohige and Chirol, Greizar, Zoano-Plantman, Zoano-Beast Out Sparkman, Iris, Slur, and lil' kiddy Netto, Meiru, Enzan, Mariko, Yuriko and Dingo. While it would be nice to see even more from the anime-only characters included, that probably would require a whole book in itself. It was nice they included as much as they did, although I wish it wasn't crammed into just three pages.

~ Chapter 4: Extra (pages 161-175)

To close out the book, the Extra Chapter begins with 5 pages of every single battlechip artwork smushed together. Again, why some of these were not with their Navi counterparts in Chapter 2 befuddles me. They are tiny, and still in order by game. Transmission, 4.5 and OSS have like between 5-15 each between them. Otherwise the main 6 games have the complete selection, color alterations for each level chip included.

Then there are a few smaller sections focusing on memorabilia art, starting with e-reader/Noise Kaizou cards. There is a half page devoted to Boktai crossover characters Django, Hakushaku, and Otenku. The following pages have some art that was used on cards, plus various logos like IPC, Gospel, and Nebula. War Rock and a Denpa-kun also cameo. Next up is a section with some art from the EXE website. Below it are random memorabilia items such as a Dekao shirt, Blues plushie, the EXE4-5 OST, gashaphon figures and a Wood Soul toy. There are also a couple early concepts for Netto and Rockman which we saw in EXE no Himitsu. And then a page for the PETs, in which the real focus is the variations of Progress PETs for every single EXE 5 character.

Finally, at the very end, we get four pieces of special artwork. The first two are drawn by longtime Rockman series designer and producer Hayato Kaji, and character designer Yuji Ishihara. Their artwork is followed by one-page spreads from manga artists Ryo Takamisaki, whose 13-volume series was translated by Viz into the English NT Warrior manga, and Miho Asada of Battle Story fame.

For EXE enthusiasts, this book is truly more complete than any of the three previously-released artbooks. It's our first chance to see numerous pieces of art, or in many cases, the first time we get to see the full body images without them being cut off or covered by text and other graphics. With so many different characters in the series, it's nice that none are disrespected in terms of coverage. As I mentioned before, due to the sheer size of the EXE world, there are plenty of things that could have been expanded upon, given their own pages, or blown up in size a little. This book easily could have been expanded into something the size of R20. There really needs to be an artbook devoted to the battlechip imagery alone, because whenever they are put in these books, unfortunately they are just so small! But I was glad to see so many get some inclusion in this book. All in all, worth the buy. And while it's not text-heavy by any means, I can't wait for UDON to get around to translating it to read the little snippets for each character's design.

News and Announcements / MMOCW and MMXOCW Summary and Review
« on: January 07, 2010, 05:51:59 AM »
Yeah, they have been out for a little while now, and others have given us a little look and insight into their contents, but we decided to keep piling it on. 8)

As you may remember, our grand prize winners of Maq's Swim Contest this past summer both received a free copy of the MMOCW. It was a little delayed after our results came out, but Talent Winner JetZero wanted to give back to us a little bit by writing up her own little summary of the two books, along with providing a few sample scans. Not too many of course, because we all want UDON to continue translating books like these and we want to keep supporting them through buying their products.

So without any further ado, here is what JetZero has to say about these latest English adaptations:
_____________________________________

Mega Man Official Complete Works

This book was aptly named.  This huge 208 page monster art book has illustrations on all of the major installments in the Classic series, and even some of the harder to find obscure titles.  Accompanying all this artwork are comments by Hayato Kaji (MM 4/5/7/8), Tatsuya Yoshikawa (MM 7, Powered Up), Shinsuke Komaki (MM 8, Battle & Chase), Ryuji Higurashi (RM 1-6 PS versions, Battle & Fighters, Power Battle Fighters), Keisuke Mizuno (MM Powered Up), Hideki Ishikawa (MM 7/8, MM&B, Battle & Chase, Super Adventure), Yoshihisa Tsuda (MM  7), and of course Keiji Inafune himself.  The comments are thrown in at pretty appropriate intervals throughout the book, providing some fun insight into the development of this iconic video game franchise. This is surely a must have addition to any Mega Man fan library.

The English translation is loyal to the Japanese R20 down to the last page, with even all the text retaining it's original placement. The book is divided into 5 sections; I'll list them and add some descriptions in chronological order as follows:

~Mega Man Series (103 pages):

This is a section detailing with the major final art pieces of the characters from the games, from the original Rockman 1987 release to the modern Rockman: Powered Up. The comments are related to the difficulties of starting a new series in a day before the stress of producing a "selling game" came into play, as well as some mention of character development frustrations.

"We had a rough design done for Auto, but Inafune made alterations from the ground up. I recall him being pretty upset about this character, saying things like, "Why do we even need a guy like this anyway?" I wonder how he feels about Auto now? (laughs) - Kaji

This section also has a "Series Data" page at the end that lists the major characters and their role in the series.

~Rough Sketch (21 pages):

Fairly self explanatory. This is a section full of sketches directly from Inafune's sketch book. Here we get to see things like the production stages of the Robot Masters, and even some logo ideas. Many of the comments are about the submissions that fans sent in for the Boss design contests, or about the limitations of the NES hardware creating challenges for the concepts.

"I guess I could have enjoyed more freedom with my designs if I had simply ignored the limitations I was presented with... but in certain ways, working with certain limitations can actually lead to really interesting designs." - Inafune

~Gallery (24 pages):

This is a section full of promotional art, such as Anniversary and Grand Rockman Exposition pieces. Some of these are rarely seen, and gives a look into some very creative thinking.

"I drew two different versions of the 10th Anniversary piece. I made the second so that it could be used for promotional purposes for Legends. In the Legends version, we can see one of the additional Mega Mans getting smooched by Kalinka, and Roll is looking quite unhappy about it." - Hideki

~Archives (42 pages):

This is a wonderful resource for developmental drafts and never before seen images. Things like full rotation character sheets, stage designs, and comics are contained in these pages.

"With my specifications like "the burner goes out when he dies", and "his canopy explodes when he dies", I realize now that I probably ruined a lot of peoples days with my annoyingly detailed descriptions of my obnoxiously picky character concepts" - Ariga

~Special (8 pages):

The final section of the book, it is indeed special. This carried onward a final message from the most important series staff, and includes a little comic strip from one of the Boss Character contest winners.

"I feel so honored to have been brought in on this project. Working my way through this massive book has given me the time to really feel the weight of 20 years' worth of memories. I am so grateful of everyone who took the time out of their busy day to give me all of these priceless comments. As I was collecting and piecing together all of the sentiments of these people who had ties to Mega Man, I had so may laughs, nods of empathy, and tears. I had a real blast. It is my hope that this book will be enjoyed by new and old Mega Man fans alike, all over the world, for many years to come. You're the man, Mega Man!"  - Hitoshi Ariga

The book is then capped off by the double page spread of the final (what looks to be to me) water-color picture of Mega Man lying down on a service table, surrounded by Dr. Light and a praying Roll. A heartfelt end to a spectacular visual journey.

Mega Man X Complete Works

Since this book is simply a split from the original R20, it retains the original format, with comments from some of the same people, in 4 sections (there is no "Special" section in this book). I will comment on it's content regardless for completeness reasons.

This book is 144 pages from start to finish, and contains both concept and final art from the Mega Man X series. It also contains commentary from series staff members Hayato Kaji (MMX, X3, X4), Tatsuya Yoshikawa (MMX, X3, X7, X8), Shinsuke Komaki (MMX3, X6), Ryuji Higurashi (MMX5, X6, Command Mission), Keisuke Mizuno (MM: Maverick Hunter X), Yoshihisa Tsuda (MMX/X2), Sho Tsuge (MMX/X2), Haruki Suetsugu (MMMX4-7, MM Xtreme, Xtreme 2), and once again Keiji Inafune. While much shorter and perhaps not quite as "complete" feeling as Mega Man Official Complete Works, this book should still be considered vital to any Mega Man enthusiast.

Like Mega Man Official Complete Works, this tome is very loyal to it's R20 origins, with not a single page out of place or missing. The four sections of this book (in chronological order) are as follows:

~Mega Man X Series (86 pages):

This section displays many final art pieces of the games, from the original SNES games to the more recent Maverick Hunter X. Even the vast majority of the minor enemies are captured in great detail. The term "Hardcore" is repeated in the comments.

"I wanted to make the character's personality a little more hardcore too, and I knew that I was working from the design of the traditional Mega Man, I'd be stuck in that whole 'nice guy' image. The whole time I was designing Zero, I was seeing him as the 'new Mega Man'. But I didn't bring that up when I went to submit our designs to my boss. I brought out the X that Kaji designed and said, 'Here's the new Mega Man!' My boss had a very positive reaction to X, and when I brought out the design for Zero, I simply said, '.... and this is the sub character.' I figured that would ensure a less critical analysis of Zero and, as a result, I got and immediate Ok in the form of, 'Red, huh? Hmm.... yeah, that's nice.' (laughs) - Inafune

This section also contains a "Series Data" page with short written to-the-point bios for the main plot characters. Nothing you won't find inside a instruction manual, sadly.

~Rough Sketch (6 pages):

Just as it sounds, this part is chalk-full of sketchy goodness from the series creator himself. Comments are centered around the design process, many of which are about Zero... it's admitted that Inafune doesn't like anyone else messing with him.

"The connection with Wily had always been part of the plan." - Inafune

~Gallery (2 pages):

Short and sweet, the only thing to see here is some X manga pictures and a back cover drawing for the R20 book.

There is only one comment in the section, from manga artist Iwamoto:
"This was my first series, and I remember the brainstorming sessions I had with my editor about what art style to go with, among other things. The cover for volume 3 of my Rockman X3 manga was only included here because Ariga insisted on it. (laughs) Not only am I terrible at drawing women, the whole cover is so out of place and confusing... Still, the back cover of this volume has got to be one of my favorites.  They're just letting me do whatever I want."

To that I have to say, 'Oh really? Bad at drawing women eh'? *coughZerocough* Ha ha ha, Ok Ok, put down that pitchfork.

~Archives (41 pages):

Lots of development drawings can be found here, some rather rare. Juicy tidbits on character info can be found here you aren't afraid of small print, like the exact heights of both X and Zero.

A unique trait of this section is that it is completely void of all commentary. It has so much art and notes, however, that it kind of makes up for it. If you like production art, you'll love this section.

To close off the book, a last, but luscious, art piece from Yoshihiro Iwamato, to reward the reader for sticking through to the end. A eyeful indeed, especially after all those small images and even smaller print in the Archives.

All in all I was quite happy with the two books. However, it was disappointing to find that there was a distinct lack of actual fact files; I was expecting a smorgasbord of series-specific information after reading through Mega Man Zero Official Complete Works. Truth be told, that is what I was looking most forward to.  Even so, the art is something spectacular in itself entirely, and the Capcom staff comments just take the eye-candy and sweeten it even further.

In a final note, I will say that if you have to choose between the two books, I'd recommend the Classic Complete Works over X, simply because it offers more for your buck. The X book seems incomplete, with it's much shorter sections and missing characters (I would have loved to see a concept of Iris' attack mech form, the final Sigma bodies from X4, X5, and X6, and some pics of the Eurasia colony for example, all of which are absent). Make no mistake though, if you want a artbook full of Mega Man history, you won't go wrong with these titles. If it's information you're after, you might want to look elsewhere.

Yowzers, hard to believe this is already the fourth year I've held this contest. Thanks to the kindness and generosity of Vixy, this year my Valentine's fanart contest is being fully hosted at RPM for your submitting and viewing pleasure. Being the holiday season, I apologize for not being completely 100% organized today, but I wanted to at least launch the rules and key info so that all participants will have exactly two months from today to submit their entries. Vixy and I will work to get a link working on the main page with the complete rundown as soon as possible.

Once again, there will be two separate categories, with three winners from each. The first category was voted on by you, the fans, on my deviantART page. According to you and Billy Idol, it's apparently a nice day for a white wedding. The second category was chosen by me, and tries to divert from the other theme just a little bit. Crank up the Jon Bovi: Shot through the heart, in this videogame, Megavillain, you give love a bad name (...bad name...). 8D

RULES:

Two categories. You are allowed to enter one piece of art in both, if you would like. If you place in one category, you will be automatically disqualified from placing in the other, for reasons of fairness.

CATEGORY 1: IT'S A NICE DAY FOR A WHITE WEDDING (Talent)

Some characters are just made for each other. And it's time they profess their everlasting love for their significant other. You can get creative with this theme, so you don't only have to draw a traditional wedding pic. Whether it's the proposal, getting fitted for a tux/dress, throwing a wedding party (please no bachelor or bachelorette parties that are above PG-15 :P), or actually walking down the aisle, your job is to draw Rockman characters involved in some type of wedding-themed picture. This theme will work as the talent category, so the judging will focus on the technical skill and effort you put into your piece.

CATEGORY 2: YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME (Humor)

If there is one thing about the villains in the Rockman world, it's that they are persistent. They keep trying and trying and coming back for more. While they get an A for effort in their quests for world domination, it probably wouldn't score them points with the ladies, if that's how they tried to woo them. Your task for this theme is to draw a Rockman villain trying to force a goody goody hero/heroine to fall in love with them. You'll have a little leeway with choosing a bad guy. Even if they turned good at some point in the games/animes, they are open for use as long as they are playing the part of baddy in your image. Again, get creative. You can even try the forced marriage pic, if you want to attempt to merge these two themes together! LOL This theme will work as the humor category, so the judging will focus on the wacky, zany content you come up with.

- Only submit your own work, as usual. Any character, major or minor, from any series is allowed. Having characters from different series is totally allowed. Again, to be fair to all, same-gender groupings are allowed. Humans and robots and reploids and servbots and computer programs and viruses and alien AM/FM beings, etc. all deserve their chance for some lovin', without prejudice!!

- Entries do not need to be colored, but it is preferred.

- Please keep all your entries clean. No nudity or extremely suggestive sexual content. No, this is still not a Valentine's hentai contest. :|

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Entries can either be e-mailed to Vixy at RPM at mistress@rockmanpm.com, Vixy's Gmail account at vixylicious@gmail.com, or you can just PM Vixy or I a link to your pic.

DO NOT post your pics in this thread, in your fanart threads or dA/Sheezy/etc. galleries until the contest is over. This is the fairest way for competitive reasons. I prefer to keep them all secret until the deadline has passed.

I'll edit a confirmed entry list in this thread when I receive them. So you won't be in the dark about whether or not I've received your entry.

DEADLINE:

The deadline for this contest will be Saturday, February 13th, 2010 by Midnight CST EXTENDED TO Saturday, February 20th, 2010 by 5PM CST.

PRIZES:

I think you guys like having the option of picking your prize, so the grand prize winners of each category will be able to choose the prize of their choice, at $40 USD or less.

Haven't been able to get the Megaman or X OCW? You can choose one of them. Cross your fingers Megaman Megamix really comes out on Feb. 13, and it'd be the perfect prize. Wanna wait a month for Megaman 10? I'll buy it for ya. Got something else in mind you've wanted to get from eBay, but haven't had the cash? I'll do what I can. As long as it's under $40 total, it's game.

The second place winners of each category will come away with a special Battlechip package. This prize will consist of a few things:

First, an unopened Progress Battlechip Gate, which also comes with a Forte Giga Chip and Chip Case.

Second, two Progress Navi Datas:
- #842 Rockman and #846 Searchman for Category 1 (Talent).
- #849 Blues and #857 Knightman for Category 2 (Humor).

It's a starter set worthy of the grand prize (and probably way more expensive on the open market), yet for the runner ups.

The third place winners will receive two of Mattel's rare Series 3 2" Figures:
- Megaman and SparkMan for Category 1 (Talent)
- Bass and Grave VirusBeast for Category 2 (Humor)

Unfortunately the chips were removed from Grave BeastVirus and SparkMan, but the figures are still attached to the card. Bass and Megaman have their chips.

The third place winners will also get (1) of their choice of Link Navi Data chip from the following:
- TomahawkMan, ChargeMan, TenguMan, DustMan, AquaMan, or GroundMan.

Finally, they will also get a random selection of 22 additional Link battlechips. What chips they are will be a mystery! But I can guarantee there will at least be two Mega Class chips in there.

MISCELLANEOUS INFO:

- As usual, If you don't plan to enter, but would like to help me judge, please let me know through PM or mention so in this thread. Thanks to all my usual judges, and I’ll gladly let you help with it again if you’re willing.

News and Announcements / RnROCW Preview
« on: March 07, 2009, 06:24:29 AM »

Over at the official RnR3 site, we've been given our first glimpse at the cover for the Ryuusei no Rockman Official Complete Works . Because despite the printed title referring to it as "Shooting Star Rockman," I still refuse to go along with that change. XD

There are a couple tiny samples there which show concept artwork of the various Tribe forms from the second game and the standard Black Ace official art, with focus on various parts of it's design, from the third game. It promises to have lots of concept art as well as commentary from the staff behind the games' development.

The OCW is set for release on March 30th, but it won't be alone. That's because yet another guidebook, the Battle Black Box, has also just been announced. It will cover Noise Gear Modifications, hidden bosses, and more in 96 total pages.

The guidebook will come with a special Noise Card featuring Crimson Dragon. It looks like it will at least give users the benefit of HP +500.

At the moment, pre-orders are only available through e-Capcom, but that will surely change in the coming days. So be sure to get out there and grab these books! (In other words, please don't wait for me to scan pages for you all. But you know I probably will.) ;)

Off The Wall / Best Buy Anime Titles Half Off This Month
« on: March 02, 2009, 09:40:53 PM »
In case you live in the States and haven't heard this story yet, certain underperforming Best Buy stores will be getting rid of lots of anime all-together in an attempt to level out or improve their anime sales overall. The clearance started yesterday and will go until about the end of the month. From the Anime News Network, among other sources:

Quote
- ICv2 reports a confirmation that the Best Buy retail chain plans a drastic reduction of in-store anime retail sales. Over 460 nationwide Best Buy stores with historically low anime sales will run 50% off close-out sales from March 1 to 21. Following the inventory reduction, those stores will maintain a selection of only around 20 different anime DVDs.

Over 500 Best Buy stores will continue to carry over 100 anime DVD products, and roughly the 200 nationwide stores with the strongest anime sales will continue to carry a selection similar to what they offer now.

The selection will be cut at approximately 800 stores out of Best Buy's just over 1,000 (1,006 as of February 19) stores in the USA. Of these, 461 stores will carry only the top-20 titles.

- According to ICv2 and confirmed by ANN's sources, the stores where anime is being cut account for only a very small percentage (less than 20%) of overall anime sales at Best Buy. The remaining 540 stores will carry over 100 anime skus with the top 200 of those stores continuing to carry a large selection similar to what they currently carry.

Best Buy will divide their catalog into A-List titles, B-List titles and C-List titles, based on sales performance. The A-List anime titles will be the top-20 performing anime and will be carried in all Best Buy locations. The B-List titles will be carried in 500 stores nationwide, and the C-List titles will only be carried in the top 200 stores nationwide.

A list was released with stores that do have the clearance sale, although it was retracted and said to be subject to change. Here was the original list:

I went today and found that one of the stores listed indeed did have small signs up for 50% off on the shelves (it really wasn't very noticeable), while another did not. The one that didn't was a much newer, larger store and had a larger selection. Still, after talking to one of the employees, who didn't know about it but looked it up on their computers, he agreed to give me 50% off on a couple sets. So it's worth asking the people at any location anyways. The smaller store had less than a quarter of the aisle for anime titles and not a great selection, but still a worthwhile visit. I'd assume it's these smaller stores that are more likely to be part of the clearance.

My haul today: Bleach Complete Season 1 and 2, Evangelion Complete Platinum Collection, Yu Yu Hakusho Complete Season 3, and Final Fantasy Unlimited Complete Set for just a shade over $100 total. When Eva was retailing at $80, I'd say I got a good deal. I know they had plenty of Geass, TTGL, Witchblade, Beck, FMA, DBZ, Naruto, Deathnote, etc. at the smaller store where I stopped, so at least it wasn't an aisle full of Lucky Star DVDs that weren't selling. Not all the titles I was looking for were there, but I was happy to come away with something. So if you want to take advantage of this deal, go now before the selection is wiped.

I've so been running away with things from Circuit City and Best Buy the last month+ XD

News and Announcements / SUSPENSE! MM9 Remix Project on the Horizon
« on: February 16, 2009, 01:49:44 AM »

While there isn't much substance to this news quite yet, keep an eye out on a new Mega Man 9 Remix Project from some of the talented members of OverClocked ReMix.

You might recognize many of the mixers who have signed up for the project already, from their own original works to their efforts on other OCR projects like Final Fantasy 7's Voices of the Lifestream or the more recent, Capcom-approved Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Official Soundtrack. (:O artists like bLiNd and Danimal Cannon and Mazedude and Vurez, oh my!) There are plenty of excellent guitarists in that batch, so it definitely should excite those who perhaps felt a little disappointed with the direction of the Rockman 9 Arrange Soundtrack.

Everything is still in the early stages, but it looks like this could be a cool album and a great piece of fanwork in our community. Perhaps by April we might actually have some samples to listen to.

News and Announcements / Ryuusei no Rockman Manga Over?
« on: January 14, 2009, 02:28:27 AM »
Perhaps lost in the excitement over the mysterious Boss Design Contest from January's CoroCoro was the apparent sudden end of Ryo Takamisaki's return. After just two issues, it appears the Ryuusei no Rockman 3 manga has officially come to a close.

The owari marking found on the final page of the chapter typically signifies the end and there is no usual mention of it appearing in the next issue. Add the fact that a cover preview for the February issue has no sign of Rockman on it anymore, it's safe to say the manga is done for. The other RnR manga, featuring a fatter, kiddier art style, and a Coro Special staple since EXE, has also ended by the looks of things. Which many could take as yet another signal that the Ryuusei series probably won't have a fourth game in it's future.

For those who would like to view the two chapters from December and January, they can be grabbed from these two links:
Part 1 (December Issue)
Part 2 (January Issue)

Rockman Series / And on the 7th day, Dr. Light created the Blue Bomber...
« on: January 02, 2009, 06:14:23 AM »
And it was good, because he was blue. 8D

Just saw this tonight after Family Guy, but I guess by the looks of it, it first aired this past Sunday. Adult Swim bump featuring a piece of Mega Man fanart. Viewable here: http://www.bumpworthy.com/bumps/1254

Maybe not Sistine Chapel quality, but amusing nonetheless. Especially to see on a bump.

Fan Creations / Rock Miyabi's 2009 Valentine's Day Contest
« on: December 28, 2008, 07:51:10 AM »
Third time’s a charm? Yes, I’m at it for another year, even after doing that sports contest this summer. Although I am a little delayed in writing up the rules, so there won’t be as much time until the deadline, it’s time for my annual Valentine’s Day Contest!! 0v0

Once again, my contest is open to anyone who would like to enter. That’s why this block of text is shamelessly pasted on all the usual forums.

PRIZES:

I’ll be rolling the dice again and letting our winners choose what item/items they would like me to buy, within a certain price limit. Now I’ve always tried to emphasize Rockman-related prizes, as this is the Rockman community and a Rockman-themed contest after all. And I still do prefer that people would ask for something related. But I will say now I might be willing to allow any anime/game related item that I could purchase online and get shipped to you easily. I’d just rather it be Rockman-related.

I have no prize in my hands right now, so you're entering to get something YOU really want. Again, if it was some item that’d be hard for me to purchase, I might have to ask you for a second or third choice. But as long as it's reasonable, I will do what I can.

As usual, if anyone does have something to offer, I most definitely won't turn them away. I’ve been extremely grateful for all the things people have donated in my previous 3 contests, and your generosity is what makes this even more fun to me. Top 3 will win something, prices to be determined. But if it’s like last year, 1st will be about $40 or less, 2nd will be $25 or less, and 3rd will be $15 or less.

RULES:

I’m going to go back to two categories this year. You are allowed to enter in both if you would like. The first one will be most similar to my other V-Day contests. Fanart through and through.

Since it is Rockman’s 21st birthday and he’s legal now, the theme is…Rockman visits his first strip club! 8D
I kid, I kid. Even though I know some of you would rather that be the theme.

This year’s theme is…

CATEGORY 1: LOVE HURTS! (love scars, love wounds, and marks. Ooooh~ooh, love hurts. [guitar solo])

Hey, Valentine’s Day isn’t all lovey-dovey for some of us. So it’s time to lower my standards and make this theme depressing…in the funnest way imaginable.

Your objective in this category is to draw one or more characters completing a sinister plan, disrupting, ruining or breaking up a date/tender moment between two other characters. Maybe your "villain" has stolen the love interest away from your "hero," leaving a good guy with a crushed heart. Or even worse, maybe somebody's cheating on someone! :O

If there’s one thing we know about our Rockman villains, it’s that they never give up in their quest to ruin our hero’s life. To pretend to quote the great Dr. Albert Wily, “If I can’t have a romantic evening, nobody else should! MWAHAHAHA!” This category is all about broken hearts.

Only submit your own work, as usual. Any character, major or minor, from any series is allowed. Having characters from multiple series is totally allowed. Again, to be fair to all, same-gender groupings are allowed. Humans and robots and reploids and servbots and computer programs and viruses and alien AM/FM beings, etc. all deserve their chance for some lovin', without prejudice!!

As judges, we will be looking at the creativity, humor and effort behind your piece. We shall do our best not to judge merely by one's artistic skill. Entries do not need to be colored, but it is preferred.
_____________________________________________________________________

Category two is a little different. There are always people complaining they can’t draw and want to participate, or just don’t like the typical fanart only-theme. So I’m meeting you halfway, kinda. It’ll still take some effort, but you don’t have to draw anything. The objective of this category is simple, and not as dark as the other category.

CATEGORY 2: Create a Rockman-themed Valentine’s Day card for someone.

It can be an original piece of fanart, if you want. It could just be official art with some thoughtful text. So if you can slap together a signature for your profile here, you can throw something together in card form easy. It can be totally cheesier than any of those boxes of cards you bought to give out to everyone at school. It can be funny, serious, heartfelt, for someone you really love, or for someone you are just friends with; in real life or online. It just has to have some kind of Rockman character, item or lingo on it.

Only catch is you seriously have to give it to someone on Valentine’s Day. Or maybe multiple people if you want. Show someone you appreciate them. Unlike the other category, there will be no judging on these. Everyone who enters this category will have their name entered into a drawing, and the three names I pick will win a prize. (Don’t expect me to spend as much on prizes in this category, though, hate to tell ya. You‘re looking at like $5-10 on all three winners.)

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Entries can either be e-mailed to me at rock2125[at]hotmail[dot]com or you can just PM me a link to your pic.

DO NOT post your pic for the “Love Hurts” category in this thread, in your fanart threads or dA/Sheezy/etc. galleries until the contest is over. This is the fairest way for competitive reasons. I prefer to keep them all secret until the deadline has passed.

For the “Valentine’s Card” category, you are free to post that whenever and wherever you please before the deadline.

I'll edit a confirmed entry list in this thread when I receive them. So you won't be in the dark about whether or not I've received your entry.

DEADLINE:

The deadline for this contest will be Friday, February 13th, by midnight CST.

MISCELLANEOUS INFO:

- I still haven‘t had time to edit in the sports contest entries onto my crappy freewebs site, but one of these days I will. It‘s my only option because I‘m not one of these cool kids with their own site. So sue me. If you still care to see old entries, go here:

http://www.freewebs.com/rockmiyabi/

- As usual, If you don't plan to enter, but would like to help me judge, please let me know through PM or mention so in this thread. Thanks to all my usual judges, and I’ll gladly let you help with it again if you’re willing. If you are going to judge, you can’t enter Category 1. But I’m fine with judges entering Category 2, FYI.

So, if you have any questions, feel free to let me know. Join in if you'd like and good luck to everyone who enters!

Current Judge Panel:
- Rock Miyabi (A lot of places, "Don‘t you want me, ba~by? Dontcha want me…")

General / On-Air?
« on: November 30, 2008, 06:07:26 AM »
This is yet another thread about yet another fansite in our community. We should make many more to talk about all the places that aren't RPM.

http://onair.jvmwriter.org/

So, what happened to it? ???

We are hosted at the same jvmwriter domain dealy thanks to Heat's generosity from what I've been told. Even though we have gone down when TMMN did lots of times, we didn't really this time. Then there was this daily spambot barrage, images disappeared, the forum skin was lost and our news system no longer was up on the main page. Now today our forums died. Is it due to TMMN's thoughts about bolting? Were we hacked? Do any of you seriously know or care about this site, because of general lack of interest for Ryuusei?

My answer is probably not. And I have no clue what's up with us either. And I'm a mod at the place.
Ishn't thvat vierd?
8D

I hope someday it will also return, so I can keep informing the world about generic wallpaper and boss character page updates on the RnR3 official site and other stuff.

Off The Wall / The Studly King of the Community Mr. Galaxy Man Competition
« on: November 16, 2008, 11:43:34 PM »
Welcome to the first ever Studly King of the Community Mr. Galaxy Man Competition! This thread was inspired by myself and Albert Tatlock the formidable warhead of mass destruction. Go vote for the many versions of me!

This is Round 2. You can select up to everyone. Since everyone will win, everyone will be eliminated in the first go.

Edit: Sorry to anyone who I forgot. The list was getting pretty long--as you could tell--and my ability to play off my own alias isn't perfect.

I got promoted for this? 8D

General / General RPM Wiki Talk
« on: November 11, 2008, 03:43:50 AM »
While I see Vixy and PB have put their plan into motion on the wiki, I figured now would be the best time for me to talk about some stuff I've been working on. For the most part, I've been trying to scan and photograph (although I really need a better camera ^^;) as much of my stuff as I can to give everybody a better look at the manga and collectibles with the Rock/Megaman name on them. While I still have pleeeenty of work to do, I never intended for the wiki pages to be filled with just my stuff or anything. That would be kinda lame. And it's not like I have everything out there anyway. But in order for this thing to really be complete and thorough, I obviously could use some help.

I know not everybody wants to sign up or work on the wiki, but if you have any photos or scans of your figures, boxes, strategy guides, etc., feel free to send them my way. I hopefully won't be the only person creating/updating these pages, but I have no problem putting them up if you want to provide some content to help out. I just started my first template for the toys today, and would like to be able to have images of figures both in and out of package if possible. So there are some I can't do it for with my collection. Suggestions for other info wanted on these pages is also welcome. By no means am I a wiki expert.

Some of the other pages have sat dead for a while, too, without much updating. Almost wonder if we should have something like a monthly vote to induct a new site and fan to their respective page for their contributions. Complete with an interview, perhaps...:?
