Title: Rockman Online cancelled?

According to a report on The Mega Man Network (http://www.themmnetwork.com/2012/09/10/rockman-online-is-likely-cancelled-according-to-artist/), Rockman Online lead artist Kang Dong Hwa has confirmed on his blog that the game he was working on was cancelled, likely to be Rockman Online even if he doesn't mention the name explicitly. He also uploaded new concept art for the game on his blog.

How sad, yet unsurprising.

Jesus the Blue Bomber has terrible luck. I mean what are the [tornado fang]ing odds that while the franchise is having a bad spot with 2 cancelled game projects and very little in terms of what the future holds for it, the unrelated outside company handling another Mega Man game coincidentally happens to undergo a restructuring, dropping PC games to focus on phone games, dooming ambitious projects such as MMOs.

That is some shitty luck right there.

It's like fate itself just doesn't want Mega Man games.

EDIT: also, your links are still broken.

This is turning into quite a list.  When is Capcom going to release Megaman Cancelled Collection?

They were going to.

It got cancelled.

To be honest I'm not sad or mad, the chances of this game coming to Europe and North America were zero and also without any news in such a long time, the cancellation was expected. I'm going to save the anime trailers in a safe place, they are fantastic.

At this rate, the kids reading the Archie comic are gonna be all "There was a video game series?"

So basically, all we have to look forward to for the 25th anniversary is a terrible-looking iPhone game. Maybe we'll get lucky and Capcom will quickly make Megaman 11 just so the iPhoneless fans will have something.

I'm not surprised that RMO (most likely) bit it; even if we couldn't play it, I wanted to see where the story was going (and if Irene would ever turn out to not actually be a Purity Sue).

Chris Svenson had mentioned that Xover was not the only thing that would happen around the franchise's 25th, but that the planning is under wraps and nothing will be revealed until the 25th anniversary begins.

That said, my expectations are still pretty low, but nonetheless, apparently Xover and the E-Can isnt all.

I still wonder how Capcom (or just Sven?) expects anyone to be excited for the 25th anniversary if they're not releasing anything worthwhile until after it's passed, but...eeh.

Protodude's post (http://www.rockmancorner.com/2012/09/new-rockman-online-art-emerges.html) was updated with this:

UPDATE 2: Mr. Kang removed the post that implied the game was dropped. This could mean a number of things, but I'm inclined to believe he jumped the gun before NeoWiz made it official.

By the way, I just noticed, Kosmos, you spelled Cancelled with 3 L's in the title.

It's a reference to Legends 3.

You know I'm surprised Over-1 didn't come from Rockman Online, speaking of which I should come up with my own name for Over-1 it's just too robotic.

I'd suggest Steve, but that's the name of BBAMM...

hmmm

How 'bout Luka? :3

(though I guess half the fun of OVER-1 is seeing all the different names people call him)

How did they come up with Steve, I hope that's a coincidence.

Sound too much like Lukan which is the name of a character from that Fan Fiction I'm never going to write.

I'm sure I'll think of something eventually.

How about Stegoceras?

He bears a striking resemblance to one.

I think it was just a joke made up here. But it works, dammit!

I have no problem with you or what you like/dislike, after all, it’s about games and these are opinions and such. I just want to ask a non-trolling question.
I get the impression from this post and previous posts that you don’t really like Rockman/Mega Man.  It seems like the equivalent of me going to a country music board, when I have no interest in that genre of music whatsoever. There is nothing wrong with it per se; I just don't care about it. So my question is, if you don't really like Rockman, then why are you here? Once again, not trying to start anything, I am just curious, you are obviously free to post here and all that. It's not I could stop you if I wanted to, which I don't.

On topic: I actually gave a [parasitic bomb] about this, too bad it got cancelled. Hopefully there are better games on the horizon, but I wouldn't expect anything from the 25th. After all, Sven never said there were more games coming, he just said that Xover was not the only THING planned.

The thing is I do like Megaman.

I'm just not the type that gets invested in anything until it actually comes out.

Like say, with AA5. I'm looking forward to it but I'd get over it pretty quickly if it got cancelled. I just can't bring myself to care about a game too much until I've actually played it.
Also I just like being an ass. It's in the name twice for a reason.
I call him WAM-X or Winter Apple Martini X

I thought the fan name was mainly "Xover Rockman"

He kinda reminds me of Pluto, though Winter Apple Martini X sounds awesome.  Winter Apple Pluto Martini X, or is that too long winded.

Switch the Pluto and Martini and you have a WAMP-X! XD

Honestly I just see him as what would happen if Gate stole X's DNA instead of Zero's...

(and I'd call mine Shi-Long)

Why do I get the urge to draw WAMP-X in a Fedex truck despite the fact that I can barely use MS paint?

I'm now imagining WAMP-X at his desk at the Fedex office, with a memorial picture of GBD, who also used to work for Fedex. XD

That's exactly how I feel sometimes. Especially when it comes to subjects like us americans perferring to blow pointless drama out of proportion than talk our way out of it.

My standard issue Over-1 unit would be named bob, and assign him to laundry duty since everyone is already giving their fanon name to their Over-1 unit. Which is the best part as Over-1 seems more public domain as it's a mass-produced unit.

He does look quite a bit like Gate, eh? Got that whole Ultimate X X8 vibe going on.
