Oh! I just got the name.

It's a countdown of their demise.

It's currently at one and next up...

also it doesn't really screw GameStop over since there's other systems that they can still profit off of that don't discourage used games.

That's literally the only plus.

Oh yeah, the PS4 & Wii U will still do the used games thing. But XBox is still a hot commodity and losing a 3rd of their used game vulturism is pretty huge.

GameStop has started to venture into mobile tech, so there's some money to be made there.

All I'm saying is that this won't cripple GameStop; if anything, it'll be a bit of an annoyance, but they'll manage to recover with everything else that's going for them.

Wait, so that means if I get a game used, it can't played on the Xbox ONE? How many times are they going to shoot themselves in the crouch until they realized they're screwing up? BIG TIME!

No, it can. But you have to pay extra for it. So, say a friend wants to lend you a game you want to try before deciding to buy it. Well, you have to pay a fee for that now.

And it follows you'll have to pay a fee to Microsoft to rent games for it, too.  If anybody bothers renting them out, because of that, that is.

Liara T'Soni: It is a luxury resort with an... exotic edge.  Azure is slang for a part of the asari body in some places on Illium.
Shepard: Where?
Liara: The lower reaches, near the bottom.
Shepard: I meant, "where on the asari body?"
Liara: So did I.

I doubt people would pay two separate fees to rent a game.

I sure as hell wouldn't

It literally cannot get any worse.

Though... on top of installing all games...

Wow. [tornado fang]ing, wow. That just further adds to Microsoft as nothing but a bunch of greedy bastards.

Microsoft wants to ensure they get ALL the profits from their games. Greedy, indeed.

For such an "economy savvy" company, they're not very smart.

Well, if I wasn't uninterested in the Nextbox before...

I mean, come on. Fees for buying a used game or trying out a buddy's copy. That's the kind of user-unfriendliness they only talk about in fairy tales. I know that it's hard to make much money on games anymore, but surely there has to be a better way than thinly-veiled contempt for your own customer base (or bullshit that could be interpreted as such).

It's not the greed aspect that bothers me, cause they're a company and they want to make money. It's just the way they go about trying to make money that's the problem. Look, I fully understand their desire to combat used games since they make no profit out of it. But to combat the threat by spitting on your loyal, new game buying non-piracy customers is not the way to go about it. I mean, let's face it. XBox goes head to head with PS4 in terms of it's 3rd party games. So if both systems are coming out around the same time as each other, will probably cost the same, and they both offer no backwards compatibility, the majority of gamers are only going to choose one system for the time being. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd choose the system in which I can borrow a game from a friend to try it out.

Wow. Microsoft has completely doomed their console before it's even been released. If Gamestop decides not to sell it because of the used games thing... Can you imagine the losses the ONE will suffer, and the advantages the PS4 will have?

Quote
The company added that, once discs are installed on the hard drive, games can be played without a disc being in the tray.
Then for the love of God, WHAT THE [tornado fang] IS THE POINT OF HAVING A DAMN DISC!?

Why not just CUT the middle man altogether and go all digital..?

Well, looks like PS4 it is. From the few extreme close ups of it, it still looks like it will be a hell of a lot prettier.

Seriously. This thing looks terrible.

It looks like an Over glorified DVD player.

EDIT:

Someone play me a dirge for Microsoft, will you?

Think about this for a second, this reveal was so bad, it reminded me that I didn't make a thread here for it and came here just to make such an inflammatory post.

Holy [tornado fang] Microsoft.
