Okay, CHECK THIS [parasitic bomb] OUT!!  8)

So yesterday I was checking my Facebook and saw that there was a special screening of The Venture Bros.' season five hour premiere on May29th at 9:30PM, 5 days before it's shown on TV. For those who don't know, The Venture Bros. is my favorite show on TV. I love it so very very much. So last night I was instantly ready to buy tickets for myself and the Ninja Lou when I saw it was already sold out. Literally less than a day after it was announced. PB was sad.  :'(

About an hour ago I saw it was posted again on my Facebook page, so I decided to check again just out of curiosity. Turns out they had added another showing at 9:25PM the same day. So I ran downstairs to get my wallet while talking to Ninja Lou on the phone. I was ready to buy three tickets for us (for another friend as well) and it told me there weren't enough tickets available. So I cut it down to two, for myself and Ninja Lou and I got the same exact message. Finally I just went for the solo ticket so at least I could go, plus to see if they were just allowing only one ticket per customer. I got my ticket then went back to check again and it said that it was sold out. I LITERALLY BOUGHT THE LAST TICKET AVAILABLE.  8D

I'm still gonna check every day to see if they add any more showings, but man I cannot believe I bought the last ticket.

Reminds me of the time I got the last copy of Megaman Starforce 3 Black Ace for Christmas at a Gamestop.

Also I somehow caught 4 Legendaries somewhat easily without the need of Status effects.

That's pretty damn lucky.

My most recent stroke of luck was finding $5 on the floor while checking out my groceries.

Depends on the Legendary. Palkia and Dialga are ridiculously easy to catch.

It was Cressalia and the Musketeer Trio, and don't say Palkia was easy I had a strange time trying to catch that due to the fact my Roserade was the only one with a Status move and also had Poison Point.

I wouldn't say that. One day at school, I found a penny on the ground and at the end of the day, I got didn't homework when I was normally supposed to. 8D Although that's not my greatest stroke of luck thus far; to me, one my better lucky moments has to be finding the Amazon pre-order mini-poster for Izuna: The Unemployed Ninja Returns used (but "like new" condition) at an F.Y.E. years ago. I think I already mentioned this before.

I hate getting into gaming arguments with a friend who won't bother to appreciate the retro game developments that gave him the high-end high-tech games he loves.  Oh well, as they say, those who don't learn from history...

So does this friend believe that the PS3 just blinked into existence?  o~O

When friends make me sad, it... well... makes me sad. :\

The thing is, if he ever wants to get into making game mods, he should learn the history behind the technology, explore older games that were considered innovative during their time due to their technological advances, and realize the amount of work that goes into making a great game.

Our latest argument was about the silent protagonist.  He'd rather his player character speak.  I'd rather not.  He says that a silent protagonist impedes good storytelling.  I say that it's a challenge to overcome.  Obviously, those old retro games with the great stories and silent protagonists don't mean a thing compared to his beloved Far Cry.

Force him to play Mother 3, or watch an entire play though.  If he doesn't cry at the end I don't know what to say.

The best stories are told without a single word being uttered. WALL-E is a perfect example of this. They told a better love story in 40 minutes without the two protagonists saying more than one or two words.

Hell, look at Star Wars. The opening scene in A New Hope tells you everything you need to know about the movie without one shred of dialogue.

He says that silent game protagonists are a "dying breed," whereas I think that giving the player characters dialogue is a crutch for untalented writers.

Guys, guys. Can't we all agree that stories with silent characters can be just as good as stories with talkative characters?

I mean, why should artistry ever be restricted to a specific set of guidelines?

I'm not saying that all protagonists should be silent.  That's my personal preference, but I won't throw a fit if my player character talks.  However, to say that silent protagonists impede proper storytelling is a disservice to the writers who accept it as a challenge to overcome.  To say that a verbal protagonist is the only way to go is a fallacy.

I do love games with talking protagonists as well but that doesn't mean that a silent protagonist has no merit.  I mean there's a reason the protagonists of the Shin Megami Tensei games are bad asses.  Hell look at Link and his descendants!

If anything, too much dialog can ruin storytelling.

Oddly enough, this all stemmed from when I showed him that pic of Mewtwo playing chess against GLaDOS.  He said he would have preferred if Chell spoke in Portal 2.
