So if you're like me, and love Yoshihiro Iwamoto's iconic X series mangas, you'll be eternally frustrated by the difficulty in actually getting your hands on scanlations. X1 is the easiest to find, but is incomplete- and X2 and 3 are real hard to find since nobody bothered to preserve them properly.

That said, X4 never got translated to begin with. But that has now been corrected by Azure Wind Productions, who not only translated X4 in it's entirety, along with bonus material of the X3 mangas, (which acted as a bridge to X4), but plan to also re-translate X1-3. So look forward to those, and in the meantime, check their work out here!

I loved stardroids.
I met the artist once actually. She was behind me in line at an Inafune signing in NY for the MM 20th anniversary. She was sitting there doodling and I recognized her artstyle. I later saw her mention it in her blog, that someone recognized her.

For my contribution, iragination and it's comics is still around. What's more, the guy actually still seems to update the games he has on there. last update was last december.

Bob and George still exists, amazingly

If there's one MM webcomic I cant seem to really find anymore, nor do I remember what it was called- revolved around Bass winding up in the X timeline. was a comic that used the PS1 sprites. Wish i remembered what it was called.

hand drawn sprites are an expensive endeavor in this day and age, especially so for a franchise that's unsure if it's comeback will be a hit, and, which was never a huge seller either.

Mega Man was never a top of the line seller outside of maybe Mega Man 2. It's just that the games were cheap enough to churn out that it didn't matter. 8 is probably the highlight of visual quality. But beyond that, once 3D took off, and 2.5D especially, it just isn't profitable to make a sprite based game, much less something of vanillaware tier quality.

The best we can hope for is for is for more of what 11 did, which was think of 2.5D in terms of classic 2D Mega Man. The process they went through of rendering stages as 2D images and seeing how they compare to the 8 bit days in visual design was a good approach that IMO, paid off.

not to mention, they clearly went to great lengths to mix 2D elements with 3D elements, and to give the whole game a sort of cartoonish vibe that in some parts almost looks 2D.

Not too surprising. there were only 3 games at that point and theyd started to loose steam, as did the SNES. It basically only happened because people wanted to make an X game on the PS1

personally im not entirely fond of the new suit design myself- though i DO like the exposed biceps. the suit looks too busy designwise and i don't dig the studded gauntlets. I think the suit from the last game was good enough as a modernization of Doomguy.

But at the end of the day it doesnt really matter since you aren't looking at doomguy in gameplay.

the wristblade im more curious about, since it seems like it might kill some of the variety the glory kills had. from the demos, there was a lot of generic facestabbing with the wristblade in glorykills

So from what we know, There's a few tweaks.

-Some demons are back to their more classic looks
-There's some new demons
-Doomguy can quickstep now
-SCORPION CHAIN SUPER SHOTGUN
-GATLING SHOTGUN
-SHOULDER. MOUNTED. FLAMETHROWER
-DOOM SOULS - Some sort of soulslike invasion mechanic (presumably optional) where players invade you as demons
-Doomguy's got a predator style wristblade now too

Also, new threads

I cant be the only one hype

I hope they make a US CE. I'd love this. I dont mind international shipping, but it'd be nice to know for sure if we are getting one or not.

That history of Mega Man book looks pretty nice

I think the general consensus by most was that it could have been worse, but was just overall somewhere between mediocre and "meh"

The Mega Man X sidestory from Hitoshi Ariga's Rockman Remix, based on the Mega Missions series of collectible cards, is finally seeing a stateside release thanks to Udon Entertainment. It will be titled "Mega Man X: Mega Mission", and the first full color, 48 page issue is set to arrive next January, with 80 pages total, likely spread across 2 issues.

perhaps, but a 2 disc game is not uncommon in this day and age, and as far as marketing goes, it's simpler to sell one game, and not 2 in one because then people feel like they missed out on some individual release.

Would be easy to just label one disc "part/disc 1" etc and the other "part2/disc 2" or whatever

I mean, in the US,  they are releasing it as one game anyway. Legacy Collection 1 & 2 come together as one game if you buy a US physical copy. Unless you buy it on the switch, in which case for whatever reason the physical copy is only Legacy Collection 1, and there's a download code for Legacy Collection 2. (though it still technically is all bundled as a single game purchase)

I dont get why they didnt just rebrand it as Mega Man X Legacy Collection and sell it as one game if they are gonna bundle it all as one package anyway. Why go through the rigamarole of selling "Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 & Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2" as a single box, and not cut out the middle man of that awkward title, when the standalone games will never be released separately like they were in Japan?

This is almost as awkward as that DS greatest hits cover where it's a DS box within a DS box

When was the last time Mega Man had something this big at a convention floor? Really makes me happy.

You know what also makes me happy? That idle looking around animation Mega Man does when he stands still for a while.
