X / Old 1996 Rockman X3 Trailer Mentions Cancelled 3DO Version

[youtube]Nu2y6coCNpg[/youtube]

This is a preview trailer of Rockman X3 that was headed for 32-Bit CD consoles at the time. Most noteworthy of this footage is the mention of a 3DO release that was planned alongside the PlayStation and Sega Saturn versions. As we all know, no such version was sold on the market. You can also hear an alternate version of One More Time, the Japanese opening theme for the CD versions of X3.

I recently purchased a VHS tape from an eBay seller in Japan called CSG TV-Game Collection '96. CSG features lots of old Japanese Super Famicom, Sony PlayStation, Sega Saturn, NeoGeo CD, PC-FX (and I think, 3DO) games from that era of gaming. The games featured come from many various Japanese game developers that you can probably think of, including Capcom, Sega, Konami, NEC, MediaWorks, Game Arts, Takara, Tomy, and much, much more.

Alongside Rockman X3, I've put up a trailer of Resident Evil (PS) from the same tape:

The VHS tape was just delivered to my residence just yesterday, I'm now in the process of ripping the entire "CSG TV-Game Collection '96" VHS cassette. If you are looking for what games that what developer has, I can report them here. I have a photo of the front label of the tape.

Brought to you by DASH Republic, an exclusive interview with Mega Man series composer Makoto Tomozawa, posted on March 18th.

http://www.dashrepublic.org/2012/03/18/exclusive-interview-with-makoto-tomozawa-dash-series-music-composer/

In the middle of summer last year, just around the time of the catastrophe, I had a chat with Makoto Tomozawa on Twitter, composer of several Mega Man titles, including Mega Man X, Mega Man 7, the two main Mega Man Legends entries (Tron Bonne was handled by another person with some cool talent).

This interview goes over those games, plus Resident Evil on PS1, up until the middle of DASH1's development. Unfortunately, we only stop at that point but we did got some cool info about his input into DASH1. Surprisingly, to me at least, he types very decent English.

Here are some highlights of the conversation.

- The Legends series are among his favorite games to have composed music for.
- Specifies which tracks he composed for Mega Man X1 and MM7's soundtrack.
- Calls out Mega Man X3 (PSX) Intro theme for being "unrefined."
- For Resident Evil, we talk about the ending theme, "Still Dawn."
- "...all of titles and tunes are just like my children."
- We briefly go over the music rights for Resident Evil.
- Capcom never knew about the infamous voice actors they hired for Resident Evil.
- Volnutt was planned to have his own theme music (Cleveland Rock asks about this as well).
- There was no special meaning behind MegaMan Juno's theme. It was made to be flashy.
- Capcom's perception in Legends 1's release.

I hope you get to enjoy this as much as I did having the pleasure speaking with him!

Gaming / Early Beta Footage of Super Mario Bros. 3 dated Sept. 1988

Because this game is serious business and important, and I like sharing.

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov8A5tz8MU0&[/youtube]

Originally found on Nico Nico Douga titled, ファミマガVideo創刊9月号 (Famimaga Video September), I stumbled upon this while searching for media on Mother 3 for my Shat-Canned Legends Documentary.

The video shows the various differences of this early version to the final that my annotations go over. For one, none of the levels are recognizable (except perhaps one particular part), and the HUD is different.

Very interesting stuff, especially upon seeing that these 80s Japanese game videos are from a completely different, and simpler era.

Original URL: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm13196307. Because I don't want to take all glory credit for this, as the video was originally uploaded and found on Nico Nico Douga. I just wanted to spread this video to the western hemisphere. Enjoy.

Anyone here on Rockman Perfect Memories on the PlayStation importing scene? I'd like some help.

The purpose here is to play burned PS1 discs like that Rockman 8 prototype, and to play my real copies of Rockman DASH, and Biohazard on my PlayStation 2 Slim SCPH-70001 and PSone consoles. I understand there are "creative" methods to accomplish this.

The most common ones I find on the internet are using a sort of double disc swapping method that involves a real PS1 disc and a burned/imported one, and you have to repeatedly swap them both in a timed, instant fashion. Which I have tried doing that with just my PSone console many, many times to no luck. I find it to be complicated and stupid, and I'm sick of trying that.

Another is actually opening up your console (PS2 or PSone), and soldiering mod-chips into the console. I'm willing to do that with just my PSone console, but I ain't tampering with my PS2 Slim. It looks complicated, but it does sound fun to experiment, though.

Finally, and possibly the most costly, is buying one of those Breaker Pro discs for $20 USD which "allows playing PS-One import games and backup games on PS-One and PS2 game console without any internal modification". Sounds exactly what I want. With it, you only have to swap a disc once and not have to rush, unlike the first method mention above. I don't know if it scam, though. It does sound too good to be true.

I also have Action Replay for PS1, and Action Replay MAX for PS2. Could I use those?

Do you recommend that I invest on a Breaker Pro disc, or is there some other unlisted method that I haven't touched upon or don't know about?

X / Quick trivial question.
« on: August 17, 2010, 11:07:29 AM »
Man, it's been a while since I posted here.

Anyways, was there a sort of release for Mega Man X3 in 2000?

This website, which belongs to Capcom Sound Designer Hideaki Utsumi (Resident Evil 1-2-5, Command Mission, Maverick Hunter X, Powered Up!!), claims as such.

Sorry if this is short and insignificant, but I see no records of this anywhere. BTW, Utsumi and I are following each other in Twitter. Maybe I can ask him something about this...?

Off The Wall / You better eat your vegetables!, Cause mom said so!
« on: May 07, 2010, 06:08:08 PM »
Back when I was kid, about pre-adolescence, I had this intense hatred of vegetables, especially onions. One evening, my mother made this soup full of onions, and even though I rejected having the soup when she asked me if I wanted some, she still served me some in a freaking Snoopy bowl. I asked her - no, I demanded her to serve me that god-damn Hot Pocket that she promised to feed me with after she came very late to pick me up from school that same day.

Then she said:

"Eat it".
I said "No".
She said "Eat it, or I'll shove it down yo' throat".
"NO".
She then rushes out of the kitchen, and comes back with a belt, snapping the belt. I stared in terror of the black belt she welded. "Put that spoon in yo' fuckin mouth".
"OH HELL NO".
She whacks the table with the belt. She raises her voice furiously, "EAT IT".
"Noooo...." I [acid burst] and moan.
She then approaches  the silverware drawer and grabs a larger spoon from it. Dunks it in the soup, and directly injects it into my mouth.
"YOU ARE GONNA CHEW IT AND SWALLOW IT, DAMN IT", she yells.
I had this sensation going on my tongue. The taste of the onion was repulsive.
As a child, I was not used to god's natural candy.
But this dreadful strong onion taste was surrounding my tongue with nothing but misery. I tasted [parasitic bomb].
As I continued to salvage it, my mother stared blank at my face.
She asked: Does it taste good? I gave her my face-of-despair look.
With that belt she held on her hand, I could not say no.
The pressure of tasting this nasty piece of [acid burst] and the anxious thought of punishment was just so unbearable.
I had only one reaction.
I thought "[tornado fang] it", and I threw up square on the dinner table when she then preceded to whoop my ass with a belt and a large-sized clothes hanger.
I ran to my room screaming. I laid on my bed without dinner -- with an empty stomach at that -- and I could hear my mother screaming nothing but batshit-tantrum.

And... The End.

Today, I love onions.  :)  I have them on my Pizza, Ham and Tuna sandwiches, tacos, hot dogs, salads, tofu, and sometimes even stew. It has this distinct taste that I love that just enhances the favor of some food for me. I'm certainly not a total addict but I certainly wouldn't mind adding it as a topping to anything. I'm actually kinda happy all this happened.

Now, I'd like to ask RPM goers here: Were you ever forced to eat food that you hated before as a child, like vegetables, foreign food, sea food, etc? Tell us all about it!

Gaming / Games everybody dislikes, that you like
« on: May 05, 2010, 05:54:59 PM »
Why don't we talk about what games we like that others dread. =P

Anyways, I always enjoyed this game ever since I was about nine years old:

Yep, a 16-Bit Simpsons game. Note that this is the Super Nintendo version, and that dogshit degraded Sega Genesis/Mega Drive port. Personally, I feel that this is one of the most underrated games based on the Simpsons license, at least. To many people the controls suck, but I think it just needs some getting used to for a little while; even then, it's loads better than how say ShTH plays. It does have some irritating moments in the game, but it definitely not an impossible game to beat, it just takes trial and error. This is my second favorite Simpsons game behind Hit & Run, which is admittedly a superior game. I haven't played any of the other 16-Bit Simpsons titles so I don't know what the rest of them are like.

Last year, I got to play it again after disusing it for so many years and did a PEMNAS video run on YouTube. It got so popular that it's gradually becoming one of the first results that show up when you search "Virtual Bart" on YouTube and even Google! [spoiler]PEMNAS stands for "PLEASE EXCUSE MY NOOB ASS SKILLS". I invented the term myself.[/spoiler]
Here are some of my favorite levels in the game:

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BANuB-POCGs&[/youtube]

But enough about me, what games do you enjoy that others sadly [acid burst] on?

Hello everyone! This is OKeiDragon and I'd like to show here a preview build of the first episode of my Shat-Canned Legends documentary featuring MOTHER 3 / EarthBound 64. Shat-Canned Legends is a series of documentaries I'm making that go into canceled, and massively-redesigned games, like EarthBound 64/MOTHER 3, Sonic Xtreme, and Resident Evil 1.5. (The latter I'm hoping to work on soon after this episode is done.)

This episode has been in the works since October, and now it's 62% complete. Now I'd like to ask anyone here if they could have a watch of what I have now, and give it a short critic of what's wrong with it, suggestions, input, etc.

62% Complete build is here, size is 182MB - might upload it if asked to, length is about 21 minutes long (Though the final version will be twice as long):

Here's the download link for the video: http://www.mediafire.com/?oy3deznqgzy.

EDIT: And here's the YouTube link for:
Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t54L5SBXXhM
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeXUowDWbCw

*Its incomplete* so don't critic it too harshly. If people can give back some feedback on it, that would certainly be nice.

Introducing the Capcom Unity Suggestion Box (Beta)!

Alternatively, here: http://www.capcom-unity.com/go/suggestion/box

You people want a Mega Man Legends 3 like I do? Or a Power Stone 3? Resident Evil Outbreak File 3? Marvel VS. Capcom 3? You all better go tell them was'sup, because this is probably the most direct opportunity to tell them what you want, ever.

You all better speak up if you want Capcom to make a new Mega Man or Power Stone game, otherwise not participating will mean you surrendering your right to [sonic slicer] about anything to them. So get going!

GTFO, I FIXED IT.

Gaming / GoldenEye 007 - The first (only?) FPS game I've ever played
« on: December 03, 2009, 05:15:59 AM »
GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64, based on the 1995 James Bond film of the same name, is what I would call the first-person shooter console game that I've ever gave a crap about in my life. It was also the first FPS game I've played. To be honest, I've never played another FPS game after GoldenEye (except perhaps playing a little of Perfect Dark for N64, the spiritual sequel to GoldenEye, but I'll get to that later). Mostly because I don't have the console for the FPS game that I'm interested in playing (speaking about Halo and Half-Life, iirc both for the Xbox brand, I hear those are awesome), and/or that the video game market is so flooded with the "me-too" FPS games that I'd stop caring about them entirely (Not quite sure if that last part made sense).

But, at least to me, there's something about GoldenEye that stands out from many games. For some reason, at least for me, it actually made sense to put Bond into a first-person perspective of the player, run around blowing and shooting [parasitic bomb] up and causing complete chaos and utter mayhem while completing your assigned objectives mostly based on sequences from the film. I had a blast in some of the levels, especially the ones where you have to save Natalya several times from the enemies.

My favorite level of all is the Train level, where you inside one and you get to shoot the living [tornado fang] out of the soldiers while hiding behind the wooden crates and -- I swear I was/am intrigued at how much destruction you can cause in this particular level with explosive weapon cheats on -- raising hell from start to finish. At the end of level, you encounter Natalya taken hostage by Alec Trevelyan's henchman, and you are confronted with a deadly, yet easy decision: Stop for the mission, or Natalya dies. Some of you would probably just do both them and you a favor and shoot the [sonic slicer] for all the stupid mission failures that resulted from her deaths of stupidity (and sometimes hilarity) just cause she got in you gun's way or for running into an explosion or crossfire. But in order to advance, you had to save her, and that was mandatory. So you shoot the henceman (Ourumov), and if you're good enough, shoot both that [sonic slicer] in the black clothing (Xenia) and that stiff-ass Brit (Alec) for their faggotry against the British government. Once you free Natalya, the doors suddenly become sealed, trapping you inside the room and now that [dark hold] has placed a bomb inside the train which will be set off in one minute (Three/six minutes in the film). At this point, I've felt a sense of pressure and anxiety, and my only hope to escape was though a square hole in the floor. With your handy laser watch, you cut though the hole and escape with Natalya, and watch the train go boom.

Speaking of going boom, I think this game made me a BIG fan of explosions in media. I swear, with a Grenade Launcher, I'm a [tornado fang]ing terrorist (as in, I love blowing [parasitic bomb] up). >0< But of course, don't take me the wrong way, I'm not psycho or anything. I just love dealing damage to enemies in games with flash and booms, and with GoldenEye, you can place explosives underneath unsuspecting (indifferent? o-O) soldiers and watch 'em go. This piece sums up my lust toward destruction in the game.

Going back to what GoldenEye might have that many games even today don't. I think it's its style. One example of this is the death animation. When you get yo' ass capped enough and die, you see this "spilling blood" animation that covers the screen from the top, and a Bond-like theme plays during that animation. I really thought, "if Bond has to go, he shows it in style". Another is some of the character animation, whenever you coming out of a hole or a corridor, you sometimes see enemies jump out and twist their torso and point and aim their gun at you with there other arm moved out. This may be "meh" today, but back then it was both cool and amazing, especially when you consider how realistic the animation was at the time.

EDIT: And last but not least, the music. OH GOD THE MUSIC. Timeless. Beautiful. The soundtrack is something I could actually dance to. My absolute favorite is the Surface theme (first visit). I swear that theme... that theme has this ambiance that makes it so sexy and epic. :V I'm actually considering mashing that beat with something, but I've got nothing yet. This soundtrack is god on the N64. It beat Zelda:Oot, yes you heard me right.  :fappery:

All in all, this isn't/wasn't some licensed piece of crap you find at bargain-bins at a goddamn North American Wal-Mart for $10 a pop. This is, and I'm sure many will agree, actually one of the best, or THE best, console FPS video game of the 1990's, and one that helped popularize the first-person shooter genre on the consoles. Truly one of the most remarkable games on the N64 and possibly the best licensed title of the fifth generation of video games, this is a game I enjoyed dearly back in the day.

And after years of not officially owning an N64 until just recently, I've decided to take the time to create my seventh PEMNAS series around this game, which has brought me nostalgic joy and great memories. Hope you enjoy. =) Also, PEMNAS = PLEASE EXCUSE MY NOOB ASS SKILLS. I invented the term myself.

Here's the playlist to see the series in 19 parts (23 videos):
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=410EDC341774011F

Or just pick one:
(Part 1) Opening Intro + First Stage: Mission 1: Dam

(Part 3) Third Stage: Mission 1: Runway
(Part 4) Forth Stage: Mission 2: Surface Act 1

(Part 9.0) Ninth Stage 1st Half: Mission 5: Bunker Act 2
(Part 9.5) Ninth Stage 2nd Half: Mission 5: Bunker Act 2
(Part 10) Tenth Stage: Mission 6: Statue Park
(Part 11) Eleventh Stage: Mission 6: Military Archives
(Part 12) Twelfth Stage: Mission 6: Streets of St. Petersburg
(Part 13) Thirteenth Stage: Mission 6: Depot
(Part 14) Fourteenth Stage: Mission 6: Train
(Part 15.0) - Vs. Xenia - Fifteenth Stage: Mission 7: Jungle
(Part 15.5) Sneaking In - Fifteenth Stage: Mission 7: Jungle
(Part 16.0) Clearing Out - Sixteenth Stage: Mission 7: Control
(Part 16.5) Hacking the GoldenEye - Sixteenth Stage: Mission 7: Control
(Part 17.0) 1st Half - Seventeenth Stage: Mission 7: Caverns
(Part 17.5) 2nd Half - Seventeenth Stage: Mission 7: Caverns
(Part 18) Vs. Alec - Eighteenth Stage: Mission 7: Cradle
(Part 19 / THE END?) Ending + Credits - Making Out: 64-Bit Style

So would you all agree that GoldenEye is awesome and that it influenced video games in more ways then one? Note that you are not limited to this question.

DISCUSS.

This is an old preview/trailer of Rockman X4 from an equally old April 1997 Multiple Option CFC (Capcom Friendly Club) Style videotape from Japan.

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38HMT8z39Ak&feature=player_embedded[/youtube]

While this preview may not include much immediate beta/pre-release differences, there is one particularly noticeable element that can be heard in this video. For one, X sounds completely different as you see him jump and shooting out charged buster shots in the video; we're talking about a pre-release video of the Japanese version here. Apparently, he had a different voice actor, as he sounds like a girl, much like he does in the English final version of RMX4. Zero also sounds slightly different as well, his Saber slashes are odd too.

---About this April 1997 Multiple Option CFC (Capcom Friendly Club) Style videotape---
Now, in this very same videotape, theres also interviews of Keiji Inafune, Shinji Mikami, Yoshiki Okamoto, Akira Yasuda, and the Rockman Battle & Chase music team.

There's also video footage from other Capcom games in pre-release/trailer form including (not in any order):
+Press Start 2 (Actual Title?)
+Street Fighter Collection
+BioHazard/Resident Evil 2 (1.5 prototype version)
+BioHazard/Resident Evil 1 (Sega Saturn version)
+Some Trivia Game (Quiz Dreams, etc.)
+Dungeons & Dragons Collection
+Super Adventure Rockman (This didn't come out until Summer 1998!)
+Rockman Battle & Chase
+Breath of Fire III
+Marvel Super Heroes
+Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
+Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire
+Battle Circuit

If you want, I can rip the entire tape to show everything. Just ask! Demand!

Entertainment / Cameo appearances
« on: October 19, 2009, 11:15:40 PM »
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEk8gxC06rU[/youtube]

This was something I found the other day in my old VHS tape collection. What you see here is a clip of Mario featured in a TV game show from Spain called El Gran Juego De La Oca. This program used to air on Telemundo (now called TeleFutura, I believe) back in the mid 1990's, and I used to DIG this show when I was a lot younger.

Basically there were four adult contestants, two men and two women, and what the game was about was this giant board game based on the centuries-old children's game, Juego de la oca (Game of the Goose). As they played the game, they competed in extreme stunts [at least for the time, =P] in a test of mind, physicality, and courage to win money and prizes. Stunts included activities like diving into a swimming pool to disarm some explosives underwater, or pulling ribbons from wild animals, to name a few.

In this segment of the show, the contestant "San Pablo" has to rescue Princess DAISY who's trapped inside an iron bar prison. To achieve this, he has to use a frame welder to burn through the metal/iron/copper/whatever, and set Daisy free! Daisy is basically a actress in a costume, just like Mario.

Apparently, the Spain division for Nintendo (Aptly named Nintendo of Spain) was a sponsor for that program, since they advertised the Mario series periodically through this show (Specifically, the Game Boy portable console I believe, hence Princess Daisy's "appearance" instead of Peach.)

Just something I'd thought I'd like to share, at least I thought it was neat and interesting seeing that. To make a valid discussion of this, let me ask: Have any of you ever spotted any cameos of your favorite characters from movies, games, comics, etc. in well... other shows, movies, games, etc.? Any neat cameos, or vague ones even? Hint: Doesn't have to follow these suggestions.

Gaming / Happy 20th Birthday Dear MOTHER

After 20 years, the MOTHER series has been through quite the equivalent of giving birth to a child and going through abortions and "prolonged pregnancies"* in its years. So I thought I would say Happy Birthday MOTHER, and thank you for giving birth to a new precedent in RPG storytelling. =)

So I'm at home at night. I had just finished uploading my last videos, when I felt like listening to Lady Gaga's Just Dance, after that I started listening to the MM9 Arranged Album and something hit me...

OK, no Bullshit. I combined Lady Gaga's Just Dance (Acapella Only) with MM9's Arranged Version of Wily Machine, and here's the result:

Think what you will of Lady Gaga, I don't know [parasitic bomb] about her other then that Just Dance song she made that my sister likes to listen. I just thought I made something neat here, and I'd figured I enjoy sharing it with you all.  :P

UPDATED (7/31/09) w/details: 00:47:27
For Mega Man Legends:

I DID IT! Here's the playlist split into 8 parts that chronologically show the speed run.
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=70DA1726B6865DCB[/youtube]
Here's the link if the video doesn't load: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=70DA1726B6865DCB

In this PEMNAS/Speed run, I use no Armor, no other special weapon (You're stuck with Splash Mine, and you need the Grand Grenade for the Closer Woods Ruins), no Energy Canteen, no Shield Repair, no contact with Data for healing, no unnecessary upgrades (You need the Jump Springs to pass the Lake Jyun Ruins) and absolutely no glitches. Just the Buster Max part for the Buster Gun, and the Jet Skates in Easy mode. Yep, easy. Bite me. =P

Previous attempts below:
Quote
This is a topic where, if allowed, we can display our best, fastest times that we've completed in Mega Man Legends, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, and Mega Man Legends 2.

This is my best time in Mega Man Legends. (Easy mode  [objection!] ) No weapons (Except for Grand Grenade which is a weapon that's required to get past a certain ceiling in the Closer Woods Ruins). Max Buster 8D. No Armor, Helmet or energy canteen. No life gauge upgrade. No Normal Items (except Shield Repair, but I assure you I never used it once).

(2/9/09): 00:50:02
For Mega Man Legends:

Yeah I know, I basically just proved how easy the game is on Easy Mode. :P

DASH / Legal issues for Mega Man Legends?
« on: July 16, 2009, 01:36:50 AM »
http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/go/thread/view/7371/18480137/sven

Apparently, there are some obstacles in the way of re-releasing this title in the USA. Which are both nerve-wracking and nerving at the same time.

According to Capcom's Christian Svennson:
Quote
"I know that people want them and I'm working with Japan to see what we can do about that. But they're not on the docket right now as they need to be recleared for rights issues (voice actors, musical score, middleware, any IP infractions, etc.) before we could contemplate putting them up. As it stands today, they are not "cleared" by the IP dept for future use."

What I can REALLY see here as a potential problem in this whole situation is simply because how incredibly identical the Servbots (Kobun) look to the Lego men. That could be be one key reason why Capcom would be reluctant to re-release MML. Remember, even though people knew about the Lego similarities back then, there weren't any popular Legos video games back when this game came out, but now there are and are very popular (with the whole Star Wars/Batman/Indiana Jones/etc games), and with America being a lot more sue-happy, things could potentially look grim for this beloved series.

This is not the same problem TvsC had before announced coming here.

I swear to god, if this turns into another EarthBound-on-VC like legal-issue, I will dread.  -AC

IGN Article Right Here.

Apparently the Professor Layton Twitter account has stated as such. If they turns out to be an official announcement, I'd be somewhat  surprised, but I suppose we'll see.

My take? If there will be a new Smash game in a few years and Capcom's   involved, count on two franchises to be in that game:

Mega Man and Resident Evil.

The Classic Mega Man (Would make no freaking logical sense to put the SF or BN incarnations in there. Screw the kids' fans.), and Chris Redfield & Jill Valentine, and/or Leon S. Kennedy as likely candidates. Heck, why not throw in Albert Wesker in there for good measure? You know it totally COULD happen. Didn't the Capcom Five between Nintendo and Capcom meant something before?

(Also, I'm just pulling these ideas out of my rear, so don't take them too seriously.)

Gaming / Games you were never meant to see...

Like Resident Evil / Bio Hazard 1.5. I wouldn't mind paying at least $15 for it if they considered releasing it.

Yes, that is true. I know the game wasn't completed, but I wouldn't mind playing and paying something that's nearly completed. After all, it is Resident Evil. It could be released as a sort of bonus to fans. It wouldn't even require any sort of adjustment to be made for consumers, other then perhaps text translations, but even Capcom wouldn't have to worry about that.

By the very time the game's development was halted, most of the game was already completed (around 65-80% complete, depending on whom you hear from Capcom) -- you can even view remnants of what appears to be the final sequential areas and music inside the preview disc for Resident Evil 2, and those areas are modeled VERY, very similar to the last ones in the final RE2.

Recently, a prototype of this particular version was "up for sale" a couple of years ago, only to be lost to everyone because of some dumb bastard's selfish attitude, stupid [tornado fang]ing problems, and growing up issues. *sighs*

You know, perhaps I AM looking too much into this. Lol. I was just typing what was in my mind after viewing these unbelievably interesting videos about RE1.5 check them out!

Did you know that Wesker was to be the final boss of 1.5 as part of a Birkin's last mutation?

I really have to wonder how Capcom feels about leaked footage and information about Resident Evil 1.5? I really do wonder.

Am I the only one who finds stuff totally interesting?

Off The Wall / Tech problem: Best Video Editing program available?
« on: June 16, 2009, 02:44:11 AM »
For while, I've been using at least 4 different programs to editing (Avidemux/Windows Movie Maker), creating, converting, and adding all kinds of visual effects in my videos. I'm sick of that. I want to use a single program to allow me to speed up segments in videos, cropping, converting, etc, instead of all this cluster crap.

I usually rely Windows Movie Maker for much of the above, but I absolutely hate it when it has to compress the video file in order to implement the changes and edits that I make. I wish it could allow me to retain the same file format AND the original video quality.

So now I ask people here for advice.

RE: Which Video Editing program would you recommend the best? (Note: Must be free!)

Gaming / Hidden stuff in video games

Alternatively, the secrets in video games that that no one would even dare give two cares and a flip about.

So in Sonic Adventure at the very, very end of the last stage Final Egg, there's this platform that takes you up to a room where, if you can stomach the long grueling ride up, you can find four extra lives.

Has anyone actually waited for the damn thing to come down? I had to wait two minutes for it! Its funny how there's all these extra little paths and rooms with goodies in Sonic Adventure that are analogous to the earlier 2D Sonic titles. I never see those again (Aside from perhaps those Advance titles).

Have any of you ever had to wait for something to happen in a video game but didn't want to, or secrets that you know in a game that you know you wouldn't bother to check out but are cool none-the-less to other people? How about some hidden area where you find some really neat goodies? Or how about that pointless secret you found in "X" game? What ever the heck it is, why don't you discuss it.

Rockman Series / Once and for all...

Read the poll. Alternately, pick your favorite voice actor/actress for Mega Man.

Before the time Legends 1 was released, Mega Man had this IMO, annoying girlish sound to his voice and I just wouldn't accept that. Then L1 came and then Trigger spoke and then I was like "Woah, Mega Man sounds like a Mega MAN now", and that was one of the things that made the game for me. Mega Man Volnutt just sounds awesome with Corey Sevier.

Gaming / Want Panzar Dragoon Saga for a few bucks?
« on: May 15, 2009, 10:02:25 AM »
...You gonna have to earn it and it won't even take a minute.

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/14/gametap-emulation-complexity-holding-back-panzer-dragoon-saga/

Quote
We've received a response from GameTap Community Manager Matt Marchini regarding the current status of Panzer Dragoon Saga. First and foremost, Marchini confirm that GameTap does have the rights to distribute Saga, but does not hold the exclusive publishing rights for the game and is not "barring others" from releasing it on other platforms.

As to why GameTap has yet to release the game, Marchini -- himself a "self-confessed Sega fanboy" -- told Joystiq, "The main factor keeping GameTap from releasing PDS complexity of Saturn emulation." (We believe him, the Saturn was notoriously difficult to program for.) He notes that it can take months to properly prepare a single title for release "or worse, to discover that after months of development the game will not be releasable." He adds that it's a matter of the amount of resources needed to release a game versus its worth to GameTap. Naturally, the larger a game's potential audience, the more beneficial it is to GameTap.

Thus, it comes down to consumer demand, and that's where you come in. Marchini informed Joystiq that GameTap has set up a poll about Panzer Dragoon Saga on the GameTap blog and said that the company will be keeping an eye on Joystiq's poll as well (be sure to cast your vote below). "If the audience is large enough to justify development time," said Marchini, "GameTap would reconsider the PDS as a higher priority."

You heard the man, get to it!

Panzar Dragoon Saga is awesome. And paying a few bucks for an emulated version of the game on Game Tap is 400x better then forking over $200 for a new or even used copy of the game. If we speak up for PDS, we WILL get it.

Discuss.
