Title: Capcom in NYC
Post by: Henger83 on October 07, 2010, 03:42:51 AM
Capcom is going to be in my neck of the woods for the next few days. Who's going? I'm definitely there.
Can't wait to try out MMU. I'll be playing it tomorrow.  8)

Protoman Blues will be there. He might be able to twitter about it on RPM. ^^;

After finding out I'm in good standings in my programming course, I've decided to skip tomorrow and be there. Hope I'll get to see all the RPM faithful tomorrow! 8)

Ladies and gentlemen, I can literally walk there. That library is such a common stomping ground for me that I seriously asked myself why they would have an event like this there -- it feels too ordinary for a Capcom event. XD

You can walk there? Very fortunate  :P When I first read the announcement I thought the same thing (why there?) o-O. But hey, I'm not complaining because every single time they've been here, I've always missed them.  :|

Hey Flame, are you in NYC? If you're here and can't go, that sucks more than the people that do want to go that are not in NYC. :'( Well, I hope you can make it at least one day.

Indeed I shall be there. I'm looking forward to it! XD

THIS IS WHAT YOU STATEN ISLANDERS GET FOR NOT HAVING A SUBWAY LINE
But in all seriousness, I'm a New Yorker and not able to make it there either because I have so much [parasitic bomb] to do. I hardly go to these events anyway. It'd be nice to go just once...

Is there a link for more info? It'd be much appreciated.
Never mind.

Hmmm, I guess you didn't know today's event is free (at the Brooklyn Library). I know how most people feel though. I usually find out about these things after they have taken place and a website post news as to what happened at the particular event. That, and I'm usually too busy like yourself. X(

I'm already here eating lunch and waiting. The shows starts in an hour.  :)

The Dweck Auditorium, Brooklyn Public Library, 10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY 11238
Better hurry if you plan on coming. They have given out tickets already but there are a lot left. Even if the shows starts and there are tickets left you can still get in.

Oh yeah, Inafune might be signing stuff so make sure to bring something for him to sign.

You can do that too but that will only be one hour, supposedly anyway.

Where you the guy wearing the MM9 shirt today?
I would recommend bringing something MM related that you think no one else would bring in case Inafune is doing signatures.

Well, I'm back home. The event was interesting and somewhat informative. I though more people would have attended (the person who gave me my ticket told me there were 180 seats and I'd say close to 80 of those remained empty.) I recorded most of it (until my sd card ran out of memory). I also recorded MMU gameplay footage of the other playing (I'm sure other people got footage of me playing it buy I don't have that). The trial disc they had there was the PS3 version on a PS3 Test system (it doesn't quite look like a consumer PS3). There is no rolling demo on the disc as the game was on the title screen for about 10 minutes and nothing happened until someone was finally handed the controller and pressed start. I would say about twenty something people got to try out MMU.  Everyone else was  playing the other games (Tatsunoko vs Capcom , ect...)

I must say that the build of MMU that we had a chance to play the controls are somewhat difficult. Either or we were handed a worn PS3 controller. Some of the areas in the stages look like they are purposely blocked off. I had reach a shutter with the Wily logo above it and getting to it was pretty damn hard or impossible. No one that played was able to reach it. I thought I had it when playing as the MegaMan/MetalMan/QuickMan character but no dice.
There were 3 stages playable. One heavily based on Air Man, and the other two mostly Crash Man and a bit of Wood Man here and there, but Crash Man more than anything.

The remixes to the songs were sweet.  8)  I would have recorded that alone but all the talking would not have made that a good idea.

Some souvenirs were given out. I received a Monster Hunter 3 trial disc for the Wii. I wanted that MMU TGS disc so bad  0v0 but of course that wasn't being given out as the game is still W.I.P..

Our play time was cut short too which sucks because they had to go. (Nooo!)

Capcom will be at the NYCC but showing off different games on each day. I asked one of the Capcom guys whether or not MMU will be playable there besides Sunday, and he said it may be as they are planning some surprises but he can't say for sure.

I got farther than everyone on that level. I was 3 blocks away from the doors when a random drill came from the sky and killed me.

Speaking of deaths, that hard demo level was sadistic as hell.

That ain't a bad idea. But you should be able to spot PB, and we'll likely be together eventually. If you see me before anyone else, I'll be a Jin cosplayer with a Ragna with me.

Also, I'm not sure if I trust bringing my DS out there.

I saw that.  X( Man, I thought you had it too because you were doing well. I wanted to see if there were any bosses on that trial disc. I was hoping somebody made it to the end as that is the only level I didn't get to play.  :P

Got to hand it to Capcom. The stages look simple. But because of the high accuracy needed in certain parts, it makes it much harder than it should be. Also, the collision detection for the moving platforms is definitely off. I saw multiple players fall right through it (even on the very center of it) when trying to land on it . Many players died because of it.  :(

Just a fair warning to all RPMers attending this event tomorrow. My advice would to be there early, like maybe 1-1.5 hours early. The room that the World of Capcom event is being held in is not the biggest of rooms (big, but not super big), and like the MVC3 event (held in the same room), it will fill up fast.

That line was massive today!  :O And today he was only signing posters.  :( He was there yesterday as a surprise and was signing other things. If I knew ahead of time I would have brought some games for him to sign yesterday  X(
I did get both a Legends 3 and MMU poster signed so...  owob

At least 80 more people could have been there too. Not to mention play MMU.

Funny, I could ask you the same question. What did he sign for you? Are you sure that was on Sunday? I tried handing him the Misadventures of Tron Boone (a sealed copy) and I was near the beginning of the line and they told us that he was only signing one thing (which was the poster of your choice between MM Universe or Legends 3) so that everyone could get a chance. I managed to get both of them signed anyway.

On Saturday he was signing anything. He even did some sketches of classic Mega Man for people. And I know because the whole time he was doing signatures, I was on the PS3 kiosk playing MM Universe which was less than two feet away from his desk.

I was on line for a while, so they must have changed their minds.

I mean, how else do you explain the new picture on the home page, huh?
Title: Re: Capcom in NYC
Post by: Henger83 on October 12, 2010, 07:25:48 AM
Wow  :o, they must have changed their mind either that, or someone skillfully traced that :)

I have video footage of me attempting to hand my game to him and that's when were were told he only has time to sign one thing because the line was so long they wanna make sure the get everybody. They actually had to any people on Saturday and some of them were told to return the next day as Inafune would not have time to do more signatures for the day.

*gives DeGamer ZEE UPPERCUT!!*

It's no trace; my big brother was the one who got that pic signed.  And it's hanging on my wall at this very second.

I heard a rep say "one thing" when I was in line (pretty far back; a handfull of people behind Sato) and I took that to mean "one thing of ours".  Nobody said anything about the posters, so that was actually a surprise, and I saw the folks ahead of me getting a poster along with whatever they brought.  I got MMXOCW and an L3 poster.  My brother got the Trigger fanart but opted to not take a poster home.  And we both got pictures.

So apparently either they did change their mind or there was some miscommunication.  Either way, I think if they were THAT desperate for time, a better idea would have been to kill the photo ops.  Posing for a pic takes longer than an extra Inafune sig; the man signs fast (out of necessity I suppose).

That pic is counterfeit! I saw you trace it.  XD j/k

That pic was very well drawn.  owob It looks like official artwork. I hope you guys gave him a copy of it. Inafune would most definitely have shown it to the Dash staff in Japan.

I see. Then add to the tradition of giving him a duplicate for him to keep so it will be a Perfect Rockman Memory.  ;) Maybe he'll include it in the game some how.  :O Who is the artist for it anyway?
