The upcoming issue of Weekly Famitsu has some new details on Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Next to Nomura waxing lyrical about the game's graphics, we now know that:
-The world is an open field, and you can go everywhere except for the mountains
-You can destroy objects that you find on the road.
-You'll be able to use a car as promised. You can exit it and move on foot at any time as well.
- Enemies will be visible on the field, and while some enemies are wandering around, others will suddenly appear and surprise you. (This clarifies what the random and visible comment meant, and it also confirms that game will be similar to FFXII in that sense.)
Screenshots in the magazine (yet to surface) are, according to Nomura, running on PS3 hardware, yet they conveniently lack any icons and menus because the game is a monstrous secret.
Meanwhile, GameInformer ran a tidbit about the game going multiplat. We'll see how that develops.
Some things:GRAND THEFT FANTASY [tornado fang] YEAH

Is this a real-time screenshot we’re looking? The image quality is very good.
Yes it’s an image in real-time using the real hardware. We aim to improve the quality you’re seeing now even further. As of now we can’t share more details in full scale right now, so we removed the menus and subscreens where it shows Noctis expression (image projected on the subscreen).
Were the party members also there originally?
Yes, we removed because we haven’t formally announced their weapons and clothes yet.
The exquisiteness and shades are like a photograph taken from real life.
Indeed, we’re using physical calculations to determine the movement of the clouds. By this time it allow us to filter sunlight and others on Versus XIII.
Is the cliff to the wilderness & the Gas Station set in the same location?
Yes in the back of the Store is the cliff to the extended wilderness. You can walk all the way, to everything you see but the mountains.
What’s this giant Enemy on the other screen?
It’s a Military Behemoth and he actually bears a huge sword in his back. As for this pictures, the battle screen were on the screen but we omitted it.
Q: The street of Shinjuku is real.
Yes, it’s our model for this, even the bicycle lanes and crosswalks are decipted. But the sense of distance has been changed a bit since the last time. Right out of the city you encounter the wilderness with electric wires every as it’s this kind of territory for this country.
This region, It is only the Prologue, the early stages, nature is so even there.
Movement around this area is easy because you can use a car. Getting on and off the car can be done anytime, but only not possible to go all the way through it because it leads to a region underwater that has been shown on promotional trailers before.
Monsters appear on the field?
(Laughter)…Yes, there are monsters that appear on the field; Some staff were doing the tests and were surprised by how good looking some are in the evening sun.
Are the battles seamless, what about the world?
It’s basically seamless and we aim to make it even more seamless, but there are loadings between big areas.
Information disclosure, is very restrict as of now.
Development is very advanced along and according to expectations we’re taking steady steps; wait at ease please, information on Versus XIII will come. Moreover, we’re making preparations for a Big announcement.
You can actually see a signboard and things written inside in the screenshot?
The signboard is still temporary even though the inside of the Gas Station is modeled after the Stations in the US in detail. It’s possible to go up there using the stairs.
Do you play in this perspective the whole game?
Yes. The camera basically sits in this position. We decided to priority to the character’s presence and the world; that said we decided to scrap the over the shoulder perspective of the world.
Looks exciting ^^
I'm a bit confused though, I thought it was supposed to be action KHish, but there are battle screens? Hmmmm o.o
The street of Shinjuku is real.Aaaah, Japan. Tokyo for you, is like New York for the US. If it takes place in any city, it has to take place there. =P
Yes, it’s our model for this, even the bicycle lanes and crosswalks are decipted.

Hm. It would be nice, if they showed a gameplay video for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, already.
Who wouldn't like to get their home turned into a movie/book/videogame location? Why don't more of them use other locations? Yakuza had Osaka.
In another report they stated that all menues and interfaces were removed. So the Behemoth screen is actually from a battle.
Why don't more of them use other locations? Yakuza had Osaka.
Yeah, but KH action rpg style interfaces or regular ATB battle screen interfaces?
I've seen some games have Shibuya- oh wait thats Tokyo too o.o;Everything's variations of Tokyo. But always Tokyo. Why not put some Okinawa love in there?

This about the MMO?
If you look above a have a snapshot of amazon saying it came out in March this year (incorrectly)
And also it's really fun, probably my favorite MMORPG ever so far ^^
Maybe the next game in the 3D remake series.
Which would be FF5-3DS
In other news, I've played and finished Chrono Trigger for the first time in my gaming life, and now I realize that I. NEED. MORE. CHRONO. I wanna try Cross soon, but I hear that it's a real downer after playing Trigger...
Chrono Cross is nothing like Trigger and might be more enjoyable if it wasn't related storywise either.
Calling it now. Nomura announces a new title, with a trailer that's 100% CG. For one and a half to two years, we will see absolutely NOTHING of that title, except knowing that it exists once in awhile with more info. Then Nomura ends up finishing it in 5 years or so.
Man, I miss Einhander... The only non-RPG game that actually worked.
Chocobo Racing?Ehergiz sucked.
Tobal?
Ehrgeiz?
Speaking to Famitsu this week, director Hajime Tabata said the shower scene wasn't in the game until midway through development. They ended up adding it after seeing reactions at Twitter.
It looks like the game's CG staff was really excited about making the scene
We have word early this morning that several German sites have listed Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy for Friday, March 25th in EU territories. While Square-Enix has yet to confirm the release date, the sites also list a special edition will also be available that includes a mini-CD, artbook, and an exclusive outfit for Tifa Lockhart. No word yet on the North American version, but should the March 25th release date be confirmed I would expect it within the same week.
Formerly the Fabula Nova Crystallis Conference, the Square Enix 1st Production Department Premiere (or… SE1PDP?) will be streamed online live to 300 Japanese Square-Enix Members and 10,000 Nico Nico Douga members selected at random. The official sign up page (link below) is your ticket to getting a chance to view online, and you’ll be notified by January 11th if you’re in. The conference will showcase Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Final Fantasy Agito XIII, Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts 3D, and many other Square-Enix titles. We also have reason to believe that new game announcements may take place at the conference as well.
The post-Jump Festa Famitsu magazine had some new information for some anticipated titles from Square-Enix, and Tetsuya Nomura was able to shed a few new details on the upcoming Square-Enix 1st Production Department Premiere on January 18th. The reason for the week long delay (from Nomura himself) was to coordinate timed releases of information with magazines such as Jump and Famitsu.
In the realm of Duodecim, he commented that new character announcements are yet to come, and the next reveal may be a character from a SNES era of Final Fantasy games. Since we’ve already had Kain Highwind from Final Fantasy IV revealed, this would largely indicate a reveal from Final Fantasy V or VI. It also looks as if the original narrative from Dissidia: Final Fantasy will be toted along in some form, though we’re not sure if this is actual cut-scenes or text.
As for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Mr. Nomura guarantees us we will see plenty of new footage although the graphics have had a reasonable upgrade since the footage was compiled. Main character Noctis Lucis Caelum has a voice actor, and we’ll be hearing him talk in the footage that makes it out of the conference.
Square-Enix launched a brand new site for the new PSP Final Fantasy IV compilation: Final Fantasy IV: Complete Collection. The single UMD will house the original Final Fantasy IV, graphically updated in the likeness of Final Fantasy I and II Anniversary nearly half a decade ago. Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, only available on Japanese cell-phones and WiiWare, will also make the jump. New pre-rendered cut-scenes have been added to the package and feature The After Years characters as well.
Actually, Penelo is the ONLY option
Annnnnnnnd Chrono Trigger is coming to cell phones!! Well in Japan that is.

Over Ashe? Really? I mean, not counting the superiority that is Balthier... Penelo over Ashe? Well... to each their own I guess.
18:55 -- They were only able to show a short trailer at the event, but development is progressing well, says Toriyama. They are working so that the game serves as the answer to the opinions they received about FFXIII.Though I didn't play XIII myself and only ever heard people [sonic slicer] about it, I do worry that listening to the fans will have the usual consequences.

They're wasting resources.Actually, I wonder if they'll use any of the cut content from the original FFXII. IIRC, they removed enough content to make a whole game out of it.
Remember when FFX-2 came out? Yeeah. Only I felt that was a diffrent story entirely, since I never played the "first" FFX game (but seen rants about it). Yeeeahhh.. Here we go again.I wasn't there actually, what did happen?
Lightning and Kain are pretty fun I guess, you're kinda stuck with pre-set moves so they don't have a lot yet. Kains jump hp attack is pretty fun to slam into people with though ^^;
I originally played to focus on Lightning.
But now that Gilgamesh is in... why should I even bother with other characters? :D
The Bizarre and Twisted Misdaventures of Kefka and Gilgamesh.
Make it happen.
Anyways, any ideo how to choose which attack the assist does? I don't mean choosing between Brave or HP though
And on a side note... WHERE'S MY [chameleon sting]ing KH3D???Where indeed.
I'm probably one of the very few people actually willing to play this.
I love rhythm games a lot, I also like Final Fantasy music, but I prefer more innovative gameplay rather than just: Please hit these 4 buttons to the beat.
Awwwww but I love DJ Max 8D
I guess only you, Cephi and I do that. ^^;
Is there any way around this?
The latest issue of Jump reveals the true nature of Final Fantasy XIII-2 main character Noel. According to the magazine, Noel is actually a traveler from the future. He's the last surviving human in a future world that was on the brink of doom.
And here I thought XIII-2 couldn't get any stupider.Hey! It's just like my childrens shows about card games!
Boy was I proven wrong.
Dragon Quest X Online: http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/05/dragon-quest-x-is-an-online-rpg-still-for-wii/Also, bewbs giant sword girl
Yep.
And something about letting other people use your character as an AI party member and getting exp will you're gone.
And here I thought XIII-2 couldn't get any stupider.
Boy was I proven wrong.

Knowing Spoony, he'd be terrified. I wonder, who's the one responsible for the art style?
I believe this style was first used in some online Kingdom Hearts Avatar Mobile game in Japan. That's likely why it was used in ReCoded as well (within the game, there is a mini-game where you can customize your avatar). It's more of a second mode accessible from the main menu, but yeah.
WHAT....!!, o nice..... with so many good ff to remake....and they remake that crap.....well done square, well done O:<

http://www.siliconera.com/2011/09/13/final-fantasy-x-is-being-remade-for-playstation-3-and-vita/
WHAT?
WHAT
WHAT
Why FFX? What was so good about FFX? :<Think about it a bit. They're not making a remake. They're making a HD port. Final Fantasy X is a title on the PS2, which means they just need to clean it up a bit texture-wise, upscale it and that's it. Also, it's a fixed camera game. Meaning, they got their work cut out with alot of pre-rendered pics they can just alter the resolution of. Way easier than XI or XII, which are bigger in size and have rotating camera, as well as a bigger amount of content.
Nothing of value will be lost
It's most likely a HD port. People call HD ports "remakes" even if all they do is some upscaling and cleaning up the resolution a bit. I can achieve half that crap by simply turning on a damn emulator.
Kaisas is voiced by Liam O'Brien, whom we also know (and <3, or at least I do) as Kain.No. You are not the only one.

Looks like according to an interview, Yoichi Wada's got a big plan for the Deus Ex franchise.or a kindgom hearts one? better hide in the vents....
If it's a Final Fantasy crossover, I never asked for this.
or a kindgom hearts one? better hide in the vents....I'd honestly love to see an Augmented Sora skin. Or a transhuman keyblade, Sarif-branded.

So it seems we'll finally be getting some details about FFXHD. It only took them what, a year?
i honestly believe that if someone else directed FF13 we wouldn't have had 13-2 or this. and The Third Birthday probably would have been much better off too.
