Title: Krystal's lazy home place
Post by: Krystal on February 01, 2011, 04:03:31 PM
This is the thread where I'm gonna post all of the cool stuffs I do like drawing.

When I can be bothered.

<space reserved>

Um, for the record I drew my avatar and my signature? The latter which seems to have been removed by imageshack. Again. God imageshack why do you keep doing this to me, the pictures aren't even bad. At all.

@WII: Okay I have a siggy again, hopefully they won't delete it...again =|

@Gonzo: Of course I do, why would someone as obnoxious as I pass up a chance to show off? :3

@PB: Really? Then you'll love this mirror that I just happen to have:

Erm, excuse the boxers and thunder thighs but I can not be bothered to get dressed. It's too hot to be wearing clothes.

Whilst I'm at it, have some bead sprites.

They're actually pretty easy to make and they look awesome and it's a fun way to waste your life away.

Speaking of sprites, I made a few in the Zero style. Mainly because I think they are superawesomeepiccool. No tracing involved, I just copied the style~
(This guy is Kaito...my waifu :D)
(http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/6874/coatani.gif) (http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/2578/kaitorun.gif)

Uuhh, lesee...I haven't drawn much, recently. Very sad. What about an old picture that some of you will recognise and none of you have seen?

^ Requested (Okay fine, not requested...he still asked for it.) by a friend :3 Apparently he wanted to burn his eyes out.

Eh, here, have a random mermaid with a handbag

PS: No you do /not/ see a trend with my art.

I won't lie, I'd love that mirror in my room! That's awesome!  8D

Also, I'm a full believer in not wearing much clothing, so more power to ya!

Very cool stuff! Especially that mirror. To be honest though I love the shading on Proto-Maid's shades. =]

Yay! Who needs clothes anyway~
I <3 that mirror so much >w< Actually my friend was the one who sandblasted it. But no matter, tis awesome. If anyone is interested in the original stencil I sketched up you can find it here (http://butterfly-coffin.deviantart.com/#/d2z3u3m).
(Though, I'm even more of an [dark hold] on dA than I normally am. If that's possible. Maybe you shouldn't be my friend.)

Eh? Rad? Since when was this a competition? Of course it's not~ I'd wipe the floor with you guys any day <3
J/K~ You shouldn't treat fellow artists as enemies, in fact, you should all strive to help each other improve so that everyone can be communist awesome artists together.

Well, InvaderR, it looks like the shading on the shades are...*sunglasses* *shot before able to complete nonsense*

Anyway since I have too much time I made an art influence chart. Because I'm sure you're all just dying to know how I got my art style the way it currently is.

Tada! Nothing interesting save my own snarky comments about the influences.
There is also a retarded and jarring contrast between super moe and super badass influences and some others that just link them together. Surprisingly, only 3 or so of those are gay in any way at all.

Oh look what I found not-on-imageshack. I love the Powered Up art style.

@PB: No less than your soul =w= Even from you.
No but seriously, that's a present (sorta) from a dear friend =( You can't take that away from me, can you? ;A;

If you reeeeaaaally want it, maybe you can poke my friend about it and maybe he'll make you one. Maybe. I mean, you'll have to pay for the mirror, worksmanship, art commission fee, packaging and shipping fee and all but hey~ The things we do for love :3

I draw a lot, but I'm sorta ADD so I draw lots of weird and irrelevant things though :D

Nah, I'd never take away a gift from someone. It's a really nice gesture though, cause really the gift of Blues is the gift that keeps on giving!  8D
Title: Re: Krystal's lazy home place
Post by: Krystal on February 02, 2011, 07:46:08 AM
Actually it's only sorta a gift =O He had mirrors but couldn't draw, and I could draw so he asked me for pictures to put onto the mirrors but I'm not an artist for charity so I agreed to do it only if I could get my favourite prettyboys on my mirrors 8D

But in the end the shipping of the mirrors themselves was a really high price that he had to pay for and he never asked for his free art (ノωノ)

...I'm not even gonna argue about the levels how how 'lawful' someone's word may or may not happen to be. Feel free to continue living in your own world \o/

Oh look I seem to have gained a small fanclub on dA =w=;; I'll poke you guys if I ever upload something.

Anyway I just realised I forgot to post something else. I was actually gonna use this picture for my signature but I decided against it for obvious reasons.
Though I'm not sure if you'd want to see it. But ah hell, why not.

v Warning, once you click, you cannot un-click.

=9 I do love me some doll joints...
And whilst you're here let's have some backstory! I actually drew this picture as a concept piece for a fanfiction I'm writing where an unknown evil force blackmails male MM characters for porn, which they tend sold. A certain overprotective someone volunteers to take his brother's place and uh, this happened. In the end they find out that Roll has been behind it all along, and it was revenge for all of the hentai material the fandom had created of her just because she was the only female. It's meant to be a satirical black humour take on fans that constantly breaks the fourth wall.
But then I ended up liking the picture so I lined and coloured it :3c I'm pretty bad at colouring, the only thing I can do properly is skin.

Anyway, here, have a kitty to make up for it.

Catgirls? Um, I don't draw girls. Let alone catgirls. What about catboys? Do you like catboys? Or maybe girl cats? (What's the difference? Other than the obvious...)

@Sunflower: Thank you :> It's always nice to be praised for skill!
But you know, it's not really talent~ I've always been pretty slow at learning art, and I was behind for a lot of my life.
Hmm, by 'professional', do you mean 'trained at a qualified institution'? If so, then maybe I am professional =w=; <-- is coming fresh from art college.

By the way by the way! Your music introduced me to famitracker and made me try making chiptunes of my own! =D I mean, I have zero musical training and I'm pretty bad at it and all but I think your chiptunes are really cool and your ear for this stuffs is awesome! :3

@borockman: Doooooooooooooolljooooooooooooooints >w< *squeal* <--- maturity level @ fangirl.

I'm working on my lazy colouring styles. That's one of them. Too bad the anatomy still failed =w=;

I made a 4koma.

And drew a female omg shock horror. Just kidding. Females occur in my comics quite a lot actually, I just don't draw them when I don't need to.

EDIT: Forgot to whinge, but the perspective in the 1st panel is terrible but I only noticed after I shoved the panels together. Too lazy to change, hope you guys don't mind it.

I wonder as well, too bad I don't do requests =w=; ...What the hell is the difference anyway...

We shall be back to our regularly scheduled drawing shortly. But for now -> Bed.

Also, Niisan actually has more Dazs than that. Too bad they don't all fit on my desk.
Also pure random, but on holidays, our house was right next to Bass St, which meant nothing but I pointed it out to my friends anyway and none of them had any idea what the hell was wrong with me.
Sad Krystal is sad. Mainly because she has a 1 track mind.

Before anyone questions my retarded brain, I actually got the idea when I got a pop-up ad about Valentines Day Anti-Virus sales. I thought to myself: 'What sane person would want an anti-virus of all unromantic gifts for V-day? ...Hm.'

Yay sudden MIA.

I do this a lot. Everywhere. Except IM. RL. And places where I am boss.

@Blackhook: Oh me! Me me me! I love tying things! Shoelaces, ribbons, hair, ties, kinbaku you name it I tie it :3
Someone else can stop him from killing me whilst I do so.

I cbb to find anything new I've drawn, but I did buy yellow ribbon.

I tie bows like a boss. Comes after years of practise.

Anyway, I got bored and I sang Kaze yo Tsutaete. I sound crap and fake and wobbly and stuffs but that's beside the point. The point is that I can sing!
...Not really. I do try.

Kaze yo Tsutaete (http://www.box.net/shared/y8i0dejy2s)

Also, I (sort of) recently finished Easy mode in RMZC after a loooong long journey. At the end, I suddenly had the urge to burst into song (http://www.box.net/shared/n2c8oz1yi0).

It's better than my serious recording, surprisingly.

Oh, also, I cleaned my room. What is this thread for anyway
I found this.

^All of my drawings since 2004/5 not including my sketchbooks, digital drawings, hentai/yaoi, and guro images which I keep elsewhere.

That's a lot of paper... and  a nice bow.
As for your singing talent...well, I didn't close the file the moment I opened so I guess you are good...sometimes off key but tolerable.
Title: Re: Krystal's lazy home place
Post by: Krystal on March 10, 2011, 02:39:40 AM
Scarfed character + figure = Compulsory bowification.

I can sound better, but only on lower/more hardcore songs. And, really? >_o I thought the start of Kaze yo Tsutaete was pretty flinch-worthy. Can't get the key right. The start of Freesia too, but that's due to it being a 1-shot
I'm trying to force my friend to sing Freesia but she's hard to force since she's lazy. But she has this awesome soprano voice and the most powerful high notes.
Most of what I hate about singing cute/high songs is my lack of control on high notes and my terribad tone. Falsetto fail! \o/

Erm...update update...

Post by: Krystal on March 16, 2011, 03:58:18 PM
I'm so lazy lately.

Anyway!

Prinny has been sent to a friend. So he's no longer mine~
@PB: Thanks =O I never thought much of my voice, in fact, I sorta hate it xD I've been working on getting a more pleasant tone though, glad people like it ='D
There are songs where I sing a bit less off-key...I'm just not very good with girly/high songs orz.
@Borockman: I would've lent you mine but it's...a really bad mic. I just bought a new one actually xD $7HKD mic, worth every penny =w=b You should buy a mic and sing :D

I seem to have lost my sketchbook, mechanical pencil, eraser, sharpner, and everything else I use. ie. I'm too lazy to dig for them so today's batch is a bunch of half-asleep scratches on printer paper.

Anyway, so you know how we have pretty cool user titles? I've been thinking they're awesome, so from now on whenever I level up, I'm gonna draw Krystal as whatever the user title is!

Level 150: Resistance Member

MMZ style is fun to copy. I need a pencil sharpener, or I just need to stop drawing small.

Next is just another day in the fried brain of Krystal.

Just in case it fries your brain too.

Some songs are easier to sing than others, so it's understandable. But really, you've got a lovely voice! Keep singing!

@Borockman: There are 2 pictures. I'm stingy on paper so I draw tiny and then I draw pictures all tightly squished next to each other and then I start drawing on top of things. Not really. <--- Kaito in Icecream ---> Blues being fed E-Tank.
S-S-S-Suuuuuprise~!

@Wily II: Y have no idea what you're on about \o/ But if it helps, I can stop pouring brain vomit here =w=a

ITT: Krystal too lazy to make pretty things. Or explain herself.

Have some more Vocaloid. (http://www.ah-soft.com/vocaloid/iroha/) You should see the people at the other forum, "More Rockman?! Krystal!!! >O"

Thoughts: I don't usually 8bit sprite but I've been whinging about how Nekomura looks like some Hello Kitty Mega Man thing for a while. (And I'm not the only one)
So despite her complicated design I did some sprite editing to see how I'd go. I could've made her more girly I suppose, but I also wanted the original influence to be clear, so Iroha is fat. Deal with it.
Also the flying speaker was heaps fun to make. Would do again.

Nope, still not updating with art.

I missed April's Friday. But that's okay. I don't like Fridays that much anyway.

So today I maded dumplings! My dad is an awesome dim sum chef so they were made of epic win. Here are the ingredients.

That's dumpling vinegar in the background! You dip your dumplings in it after they're cooked. The slightly sour taste compliments the salty dumpling well :D
Most people use spoons to grab the filling, but we're used to using butter knives. I'm not sure why, but I find it easier to measure the amount that way.

Did you steam them or fry them?
Title: Re: Krystal's lazy home place
Post by: Krystal on April 04, 2011, 02:32:02 AM
I believe we made...potstickers! (Snerk. Who the hell decided to name them potstickers lol. ...I just realised. Potstickers is a literal translation of the Chinese name which is, word for word, 'pot stick'. As in cooking pot, and adhesive stick. Thank god they don't use this kind of naming sense for everything or else wontons would be cloudswallowers.)

But yeah we fried them. When you go for fried dumplings in restaurants, 80% of the time they will be burnt and/or dry in some way which makes them terrible. But I has mastered the art of making delicious crunchy dumplings =B
We made a lot of dumplings in one go so we can't cook them all at once. But the remaining frozen ones are all going to be steamed because frying works best on fresh ones.

Eh...not liking/wanting/learning to cook is bad. I mean, we all have to feed ourselves one day, right? I love cooking, to me it's an art where everyone can enjoy the results. Well, I also love food.

Nothing new. But I figured some of you might be interested in a full sized version.

Warning: Staring at image for a prolonged period of time may cause dizziness.

If anyone is curious as to what goes into animating an awesome spinny picture with correct anatomy and perspective, my image build looks a bit like this.

And a rant. Because I like ranting and I don't have a blog to rant into and I like to pretend you guys care what I think.

Okay so even though I like perspective and foreshortening et merda, drawing the same pose in different angles really brought home what perspective meant. I guess artists will choose poses that they can do comfortably, when given the choice. Consciously or not. This meant a lot more guidelines and tweaking on my part, but I think it's for the best.
I had to tweak a lot to get the anatomy on the spinning to be consistent. Lighting was a little less hard though.

But on the other hand, Blues is an amazingly delightful character to animate. Set landmarks at important areas. Simplified anatomy. No (visible) hair. A body that consists of basic shapes. And looks completely retarded in real life. This is make believe, why do you want it to work irl at all? I've always thought the MM character designs were pretty clever, but this just makes me appreciate them more.
I also realised how much I'm missing out on by preferring to work in black and white linework. Colours add a lot to the design. Even when all I had were flats, the elements all stood out and spoke for themselves, simply because of the colour separation. It was so awesome ;A;
Also colours made the effort I put into getting the image right clearer. So yay for extra effort.
That doesn't mean I hate colouring any less though. It just makes me sorta wish that my pictures would colour themselves :>

Well, I'm cool w/ the decision as long as they did it on merit. ie. It was at the wrong end of the quality/originality/coolness/skill spectrum. Title: Re: Krystal's lazy home place

@Blackhook: If you'll let me rant on for a bit, I like to think that the battle against Omega is the most representative of Zero's struggle in the series, and that Omega's 2nd form is the most representative of Omega's nature.
Like how he views himself as a god that towers above everyone else, complete and utter lack of emotion and identity, the corruption of Zero and X, the overwhelmingness of it all, and stuffs. Yes stuffs, my brain isn't working very well today.
That, and I love David vs Goliath battles. Struggling to overcome something so immense that it seems completely impossible, it's a good metaphor for 'being a hero' or 'saving the world', as there is always a part to focus on that'll bring the problems tumbling down :D In stories anyway.
Personally I want to try it again. There's a lot I like and I don't like about that picture, but one of the things that bugs me is how small Omega looks =\

@Rep: If I joined would it make me popular on dA?
Title: Re: Krystal's lazy home place
Post by: KoiDrake on May 07, 2011, 05:01:45 AM
I really like the coloring, despite you saying that you rushed it. Omega looks a bit static though, considering that he is swinging a bigass blade. And since the blade has a blur but the arm doesn't, I thought the sword was a translucent cannon :P

But still, pretty impressive, as Blackhook said, there aren't many drawings of Omega in that form, and is the best of the bunch. You made it justice too.
Title: Re: Krystal's lazy home place
Post by: Krystal on May 07, 2011, 04:28:01 PM
Well it's not the technical execution of the colouring or the fun shiny colours that are bad (even if my lack of mastery of the SAI brush tool held me back a bit at the start, check out that brush at 50% zoom (http://img859.imageshack.us/img859/6438/omegazerozoom.jpg)). Rather, my lack of a finish, and appropriate detailing, was really disappointing. To me, at least.
In several-months-ago-me's defense, I had absolutely no idea what kinda details to do in the first place. Unsurprisingly, since I don't draw giant messiah-bots every day. (See Krystal, this is why you should've just done a normal sexy picture.)

It's also the first time my lighting in an image has been this ridiculously bad. Sure the light is coming from an entire freakin' wall of lava and beam swords but...hm, I really asked for this with my image idea, didn't I? Case in point the lighting in the image could've been better. A lot better.

Oh and don't get me started on compositional flaws. What in the world was I thinking when I decided to put a random floating rock under Omega's sword? Is he meant to be slashing through it? No? Then why is it there breaking up the vertical composition of the picture? Oh right, my stupid impromptu decision. Ahaha...derp.

Also, I apparently had the time to give all of Omega's shiny metally bits a liquid metal shine but forgot to give anything a reflection. Yeah, smart move Krystal, smart move. Oh and I don't know, maybe when you're surrounded by lava, you wouldn't have hard shadows on you. Cell shading is a bad habit, isn't it?
Hey look yellow MSPaint airbrush lava! The artist must've been rushing for the deadline :D Either that or she has no idea what lava looks like. Or both. I'd say both.

I'm also going to say that the technical execution of Omega's right arm sucks. But no one needs to hear me on an anatomy rant.

...Aaaaanyway. (Aren't you glad I don't do this to you?)
When I came up with the idea, the basic idea was to make something from fans, for fans. Something lots of official/forced stuffs can't do. I showed WIPs to my friends along the way and the general reaction was: 'Yes, that's definitely how it felt.'
Since my main goal was 'pulling this off', if the fans/viewers are happy, I'm happy.

Oh and Omega, you and I will meet again in battle, [sonic slicer] =o=

Holy mama! that is some awesome Omega. and hasty coloring? you color even better than me.

And since the blade has a blur but the arm doesn't, I thought the sword was a translucent cannon :P

I thought it was a cannon?  :O

The shape of the blur looks like a cannon to me, dunno what else to say. Posting an outline of that would be redundant :P

Nope, please post an outline I can't see it. Probably because I made it. Anyway the colours of the entire thing is all blurry and overlappy and stuffs.
Title: Re: Krystal's lazy home place
Post by: borockman on May 10, 2011, 02:04:13 PM
Yeah, I know with a multiple proper view it doesn't looks like a cannon.

But at the first sight, it looks just like one, and the blur line makes it looks like a metallic green rock buster.

Hopefully it makes sense.

@Canon: ...I...see. perspectivefailIguessorz

Now...update!

Anyway, nothing new, and nothing really Rockman-related per se, though there is a Blues (ohohoho), but I wanted to show people this~

Warning, terribad art below.
2004 me vs 2011 me.

WOW. Was I terrible or was I terrible? Also weaboo. One notable thing is that I didn't try too hard for poses/angles that I couldn't draw. Oh and, can anyone figure out where I stole my art ideas from? I was a shameless plagiarist, back in the day...

2005 vs 2011

This is the the first appearance of Kane! He's still around today, but he's changed a lot. For example, he lost most of that hair. I apparently though lots of lines in hair meant drawing good hair. Such a smart little girl.

2006 vs 2011

Ryk is also still around today, but he's changed a loooot. >_> This was where I started getting really deep into the giant recessive chin problems that were already pretty evident in the previous years. But since I changed my style to be a bit more detailed, it became even clearer.

2007 vs 2011

Ignore the screwed anatomy in the latest version. At 2007 I think I came to a stylistic peak, I was comfortable with what I was doing and I could do it quite easily. It was a roadblock for me then, 'cause I thought what I did looked...well, nice. Also notice that I finally stopped making my lines furry and the overbite is fading. It's quite refreshing isn't it?

2008 vs 2011

Yeeeeeeeeah that was a terrible picture. Still is, apparently. I couldn't find out what I was going for with the pose >_>a You might notice that 2008 is less attractive it has nothing to do with crossdressing btw than the 2007 picture. Yeah, I was going backwards =w=a Too much refining, not enough freedom. Also the anatomy sucks, but it's been sucking all the way up till now so hey.

2009 vs 2011

Not much to say here, I got more detailed and the jaw finally lined up with the rest of the face (at the cost of a flat nose). The stylistic similarities to my style today are starting to show through. I was also aiming for clothes that sat better on the body and made use of more guides. It paid off.

2010 vs 2011

Okay...what to say...2010 is a lot like 2009, to be honest. I went back to a more animu style though, simply because it was more comfortable and faster. But I shall be honest, I was mostly experimenting with various fashion back in 2010...=w=;

2011...vs 2011?

Remember this? Bonus look at the sketch it was before it became a CG! ...No there isn't much of a point of redrawing the same picture 3 months later, but it's now vs 3 months ago so hey! I'll be honest here, the old one is better despite some overlooked proportion problems that still bug me. The main factors here are 1) I was most comfortable with that style a few months ago and 2) I knew what I wanted. Knowing what you're going for usually turns out a result closer to what you were aiming at.
Well, now you know...What do you mean that picture is too adult and I should've warned you? >_>

2004 vs 2011

"Okay, just what the hell is that?" You might be thinking. Well, in short, 2004 Krystal could not draw fanart. In particular, Yugi's hair. Seriously, she tried and she tried but then she gave up. So in the end, what she had wanted to draw and what she ended up drawing became two very different things. Here I attempt to remedy that.
Somehow I still found the hair ridiculously difficult to draw. On the bright side, I can actually draw fanart nowadays.
Oh and, if you're not interested in my progress as an artist, there is still a new link my my signature. Sometimes I wonder how many people have noticed and read them.

Bad colors? The heck, gurrl?
I'm not an art expert, but I can at least tell when colors are bad.
And this doesn't look bad at all. In fact, the style you used here is one of my favorite types of coloring.

Overall, a lovely piece but it definitely needs some kinda background, because otherwise it seems empty.
Like, Kubo Tite empty.

You should draw more of Breakdance Blues EVIL PROTOMAN! : D

It looks pretty cool actually. Considering that you made the bg completely white and you added that shade projected, I would have exagerated the light a bit more, make a white glow around breakman, almost hiding the edges of the drawing and adding a bit of rim lighting to accentuate the shape. That would make it more dinamic in my opinion. This is more something to improve the drawing rather than "fix", I don't think it looks as bad as you think.

And the perspective on the feet seem to be a bit weird, that's the only problem I see in there.

Mmm, Break Man is watching you 8D

@Blackhook: Planning is a good habit, nice compositions make nice pictures ;w;b

@Saph: ...^^; Thank you ='D

@Koi: R-Really? The initial idea was to give him bloom lighting (aka white glow) and to make him look all cool (I forgot about rim lighting though) but as you can see from the remaining sketch lines, I never 'finished' it. The sketch is quite versatile though, and I'm willing to try again >( Krystal is trying to learn new things about colouring every day ='D

Eh, now that you mention it, I messed up the hips and legs pretty bad. Guess I'll fix that before I try again. Thanks~!

@PB: ikr?

Extra: I based that pose off the Kotobukiya Blues I have posed on my desk right now. Looking at it, I somewhat wonder why I somehow didn't just copy it outright. Then I realise that Ariga's Rockman style is less chibi than the official style.

Okay so so far I have:

> Something from Asteroid Blues

...That could work if the story wasn't set in space. Pretty hard to get that kind of lighting...in space.

> Derelict laboratory

I...I like this idea. I mean, the brown lighting works well for it, and despite being typical and obvious, Wily's lab does fall apart in the end of the game, and Break Man (probably) is there...IT MAKES SENSE

> Beginning of Gemini Man's stage

Could be a good idea except for the fact that it's...night.

> Surrounded by dead Sniper Joes

I like this :> Esp since they're green, it makes for good contrast. Not a background though unless he's standing on them to boot.

> Entering the women's changing room at a swimming pool

I like this too. But uh...yeah.

> MM2 Intro screen Godzilla Wily Moon Batsignal

My reaction to this is still: Wut

> Valiantly exiting an adult novelties store. Drawn really dramatically like the dragon-phallus replicas casting long, stark shadows over the outdated playboy back issues

I think I need new friends.

OOH! I has a backround idea or two!

1) At the entrance of a cave about to go in hunting for treasure.

2) Standing in a sort of desert wasteland with a destroyed giant robot in the background.

And I'm jealous of your origami skills! :0

Ahaha, the hardest part of origami is understanding the instructions to be honest. If you follow someone when folding, it's actually quite easy. But I got it with some practise.

> Cave looking for treasure

Er, digger Break Man?

> Desert wasteland in front of a destroyed robot

Could see it working, esp the desert part, but it's so...out of context that I find it hard to make sense of it~

Basserina is gorgeous. I need a music box of him.

Whaaaaaaaat? It's not Joey Wheeler! His name's Katsuya Jounouchi, and he's from Yuugiou, not Yu-gi-oh! Sheesh you damned 4-kids dub watchers. And Proto's hair looks nothing like Jou's! I mean, he has gigantic sideburns! And the back of his hair curls up! And there's no...dent...thing in it Yeeeah there are only so many ways you can draw giant hair. And yes it's Joey.

Surrounded by ladies? There are ladies to be surrounded by in the series?

Neeeeeed to work on that hair rwar

<YGORant>

The manga translation does a lot of things, including addressing 'Yami Yugi' by his Japanese title, which they transliterated as 'Yu-gi-oh', which sounds extremely derpy as a name even if it does (sorta) keep the Yuugi/Yuugiou pun. I'd rather they'd called the series 'King of Games' which sounds much cooler but then it'd require an actual name translation and that sounds even worse.
"Hey Game! Let's go play some card games! Oh are you gonna transform into Game King so you can win?"
Yeeeeeeeeeah I think no.

On the bright side being named 'Other Yugi', then Yu-gi-oh (Only in exposition though, which is a relief) and later 'Nameless Pharoah', is still better than 4kids' 'Yami Yugi'. Which unfortunately is how it goes nowadays
I have nothing against Yugi/Yugioh actually. Except maybe the 'oh' part but it's better than nothing. (How would the average English-speaker pronounce 'moe'? That's right, 'moh'. That's why people have to spell it 'moé' so we'd actually say 'mo-eh'. Then again I'm sure we'd be able to get yugiou right, how else can we pronounce 'ou'?. Maybe we'd go 'yoo-ji-oh', but I'm sure Yugioh has that same problem. Okay...good point why 'oh', it sounds dumb. Curse you localisation!)

</YGORant>

My favourite is the last and first ones

The first is probably the closest to canon we're ever gonna get. So \o/

Simple, it COULD have wound up pronounced 'Yu-Ji-Ow'. That's right, 'ow', like in 'out'.

12 year old fangirl Krystal go!

Actually, correction! YGO started off with absolutely nothing to do with card games. In fact they played many other kinds of cool games that had nothing to do with cards until Kaiba came in. But no video games.
It was also about Egypt from the beginning. The 'ancient artefact' sports the freakin' Eye of Horus and many of the games sported Egyptian themes. The series then got sidetracked when the fictional Magic The Gathering import card game became its own franchise. The return to the plot comes back when they start showing the Egyptian stuffs at the end of the series. Because you know, card games sell well but there was a story to be told. In fact the card game sells so well that there is a huge bunch of spin-off stories off it. All about the damned card game. Yu-gi-oh ZEXAL started this season, I heard it's more of the same. \o/

I love you.

Really, I do.

Though I enjoy the card game and its spin offs. ZEXAL seems like actually a good and funny show (apparently ten episodes in, and the main character ALREADY LOST TO HIS RIVAL).

GX was mostly [parasitic bomb]. And 5D's was Gold, until filler started, but then it got good again, and then the ending took kinda a nosedive.

But anyway.
That latest Blues hairdo looks best. You should stick with it. < 3

I used to play with YGO cards, but none of us spent enough money to build up a really good deck and so there was a lack of decent opponents -o-

@Kharx: Ewwwwwwwwwwwww love. I didn't know you were into that kinda stuffs.

Anyway, I don't watch anime anymore, but even if I did I probably wouldn't watch any more YGO. Not until they make card games quicker.

And no~ There's more to change :3c Some of you probably know where this is heading...again.

I liked the parts of the manga BEFORE the card game came into play.

In fact, im convinced without the childrens card game, there might have been much more variety.

I remember I was pleased that they adapted the tabletop RPG episode with Bakura to the card game, but the original with the rpg story was far better. I mean come on. The maniac impales his own hand. (plus lol Zorc)

side note: it saddens me Dungeon Dice Monsters never caught on. It seemed really really fun.

Maybe you were just drawing on mystical quasi dimensional information of some kind. Or it could just be a coincidence.  8)

Oh, I spent plenty of money on YGO cards. Way too much, now that I'm olde and think about it. I had a lot of good decks. I was so happy when my Burn Stall deck beat a judges cheap Yata Lock deck.  8D

And yeah, the variety was good ='D I liked the DDM game played in the manga but I'm not sure physically making that game would've been very profitable.
Tabletop RPGs are awesome, and completely worthy of being the (sorta) final kind of game played in the series.

@PB: Perhaps perhaps. I was too young back then to have any kind of money to spend on anything =( But now that I have money I'm spending it all on figurines and clothes 8D

That's for the best, Krystie. Both of those are more worthwhile, I think. XD

@ PB: Did you ever compete in a YGO tournament

Not really. Just like 4 times total. Two things prevent me. #1 is time. #2 is that people who play the game here tend to be overwhelmingly stinky.

Title: Re: Krystal's lazy home place
Post by: Krystal on July 19, 2011, 10:58:25 AM
I forgot about it :< He would've probably said something funny as well.

Okay so here's the thing, the guest signings line was ridiculously popular, as in, 2 hours long or something, and when I got there they had just cut it off and I was like http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/

Then later when my friends were gonna go I remembered that I had a sketch in my sketchbook I needed to give LK so I ran back and begged the door people to let me drop it off. Like 3 levels of authority later, they let me cut in and hand the sketch to LK. I also got to ask a quick question, and I apologised that I couldn't stay, talk to him more, and get his signature. But then LK was like: 'Oh I can give you a quick one now do you have something like your name tag or...' By then I had already whipped out the sketchbook I ripped the sketch out of, flipped it to a blank page, and held it out in front of him. He quickly signed it and I said thanks and ran off. The guy who I cut in front gave me the dirtiest stare.

So yes, I got his signature without effort. Krystal is ;w;b

Also, just so I can get it out of the way:
LK sucks now... well, at least Yu gi oh TAS sucks. Because he still seems like an okay guy.
Shame he keeps dealing with PsyGuy and his crew of hacks.
Now that I think of it, when did exactly TAS did such a nosedive into crap?
Hmm.... hmmm...

Still... I kinda envy you. Such a perfect opportunity to meet the guy who made me laugh so much IN THE PAST would be great.

Wha - I...you - Have you watched episode 52? 48? =w= You know, the one with the trolls who complain about how YGOTAS sucks now, it was better when it was shorter, when he voiced everyone, and when it wasn't different? 8D

Anyway, during the questions, LK actually admitted that he had actually said all he could've said about YGO in the first episode, and that it was increasingly hard to find something to say about the card games. I don't know about you but other than the fact that the duelist city tournament was one of the dullest things ever both canonically and in TAS, I still find LK funny. >_>

He's also hilarious irl :D
