PS3 and Vita owners (no PSP this time) will be able to download the first Legends game for ten bucks next week.

The last round of research/speculation pegged PS1 L1 as the most legally troublesome Legends game to rerelease, so this hopefully means that L2 isn't far behind. And yes, I'd REALLY like to see Nintendo get in on that action with MM64, but I'll take what I can get.

Halle-[tornado fang]ing-lujah!
-
Finally-my only way of playing it was the awful n64 port. X(
-
Now if only I had a PS3/Vita, I can finally get the PS1 version the legit way.
-
This is worthy of its own News topic.
Moved.
-
Well, now I can possibly play it on the Vita. Although the Shoulder buttons will be kinda tough to deal without, since I'm not a big fan of using the touchpad or screen for them.

*looks at PS1 with copies of Legends 1 and Legends 2*

L1's lock-on system is near useless anyway; it's a lot easier to get by on two shoulder buttons in that game than either L2 or Misadventures.

Why would you want to wish that on anyone? Much less having to pay for it?
-
Demograph. It'd be nice if the Smash players could actually see a game with Volnutt in it.
I mean, I'd PREFER a 3DS game, but we all know what happened there.
-
Hell yeah; dunno when I'll be able to grab that, but it's good to know that it'll be available. Last time I played MML1 was via unstable N64 emulator.

To be fair it was mostly the shitty controller and the low volume that killed the n64 version for me. Everything else seemed about the same as the PSX version.
-
Nice.
Of course, I already own a physical copy (of this and Legends 2 even) but I'll gladly pick it up again.
-
My brother downloaded the game and I have to say it looks really nice.
-
Not expecting any differences at all really, considering how Sony is about PSN classics, but was that one art studio in the uptown censored / altered after all? Or, any other noticeable differences really
-
Shame I'm too broke to afford 10 bucks.
But hey, at least Capcom is acknowledging it's own [tornado fang]ing IP

Hmm you might need to ask someone else about that. What I did notice was that the game seemed a bit brighter and a little smoother.

Can confirm this is not the case because I have a save from my own copy of the game in Uptown.
Game runs exactly the same as a real disc in the PS3.
-
Might end up getting it if it's as good as the original. Then I don't have to mess around with capturing the PSX with my shitty capture device. If Legends 2 comes out it's a 100% buy though.
-
I didn't get that far, not even at the Marlwolf yet, but I haven't noticed any major differences. Other than my general sucking at stopping City Hall from getting damaged, anyway. -_-

For future note you can play PS1 discs on the PS3 natively, unless you're talking about getting this release on Vita.
[spoiler]I didn't realize you could do this until like, July of this year[/spoiler] :V

Only on old model PS3s like mine though, no?
Not slims?

All PS3s can, although there's region locking so PAL PS3s can only play PAL PS1 games, etc. They removed the parts for PS2 backwards compatibility with later models, but they're explicit that all models can play PS1 games otherwise.
-
Really all models? Hm. I'll have to give it a try sometime.
-
I'm temped to try that out by putting in Silent Hill into my brother's PS3.

Yes, I have the late "super slim" model, and it does play PS1 discs.
-
I just tried it out. Yep, PS1 discs work, all right.
I'll have to look into buying some PS1 games I haven't had the chance to play, unless they're available as PSone Classics.
-
Holy [parasitic bomb] it actually does, I just texted my brother so he can start collecting PS1 disk games. Our PS1 disk collection is absolutely pathetic.
-
You guys... didn't know that? I've been doing it for years.

It's one of those features that weren't exactly readily apparent. Somehow the PS2 compatibility removal had everyone presume it couldn't play PS1 games either, at least no one I know realized it.
-
They made it pretty clear that it would still work though... oh well. C'est la vie.
-
If the PS1 games in my brother's collection works (I still didn't get a chance to test it out), it looks like I'll be able to relive old classics on actual hardware.
-
My brother's is the late slim model and it loaded FF9 just fine.
-
This is so awesome! Already got the PS1 version of MML and I never got to own MML2 so I hope it hits PSN soon enough, I did play MML on PS3 for a bit but having it on the go is great as well!

So, being on sale for only two days during the month of September (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/10/08/playstation-store-september-2015s-top-sellers/), the PSN release of Legends still took the #5 spot for PS1 classics for the month. And it got the #1 spot for PS1 classics in October (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/11/11/playstation-store-octobers-top-sellers/).
Take THAT, nay-sayers. 8)

I know this was posted on April 1st and all, but it looks like LEGENDS 2 is coming the PSN this April!

Just a reminder; Mega Man Legends 2 is up on PSN right now!
If you haven't downloaded it yet, what are you doing? Download right this instant! >0<
I already have and I'm looking forward to finally replaying this legendary classic.
-
I'll just use my PS1 copy.
