Title: Megaman X Legacy Collection
Post by: Sakura Leic on February 15, 2018, 04:02:55 AM
Uh since we don't have a topic for this anyway and I can't make topics in the News Section we have some confirmation that the X Collection is gonna be 2 collections.

https://nintendoeverything.com/mega-man-x-games-seem-to-be-coming-to-switch-as-two-collections/

Kind of sad it wasn't all in one collection but my guess is X7 and X8 were just too big.

Now that's a pretty sweet ass trailer, this is looking really great.

Eww! That Sal rendering is just ugly. I'd stick to the original graphics, thank you.

Indeed, that's nasty looking, why did they insist on using it for the entire trailer?

Everything else seems pretty par for the course, I do hope X3 has options for both soundtracks. The only places upped resolution is needed are the 3D games. And even then if it makes the 2D elements smeary looking i'd rather have the normal resolution.

Can someone explain what Sal rendering is?

I'm sure someone here can give a detailed version of this. All I can say is that it ups the resolution of the original sprite with a [parasitic bomb]-ton more pixels, in a lazy attempt to smooth the edges.

Oh right those crappy emulation fliters, yeah I'm sure most of us are gonna ignore those anyway.

This just in, Mega Man x5 will not be using the Guns N’ Roses inspired name in the collection as mentioned by Gamespot.

I am going to miss the Guns n' Rose name reference in X5. I quite liked some of them like Axel the Red and Duff McWhalen. Tidal Whale doesn't give that impactful impression like Duff's did.

Anyway I cannot wait to play all of them again! Even X7! I'm in the minority that really liked it, played New Game+ so many times even when the game annoyed me with you mistiming a jump and fall to your death.

I'm honestly torn on this. I want the game, no question, but Europe isn't getting a physical release, so I can't decide whether to pre-order the digital bundle now, or wait 'til it's released and see if I can get an American boxed copy.

Damn it Capcom.

I mean, in the US,  they are releasing it as one game anyway. Legacy Collection 1 & 2 come together as one game if you buy a US physical copy. Unless you buy it on the switch, in which case for whatever reason the physical copy is only Legacy Collection 1, and there's a download code for Legacy Collection 2. (though it still technically is all bundled as a single game purchase)

I dont get why they didnt just rebrand it as Mega Man X Legacy Collection and sell it as one game if they are gonna bundle it all as one package anyway. Why go through the rigamarole of selling "Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 & Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2" as a single box, and not cut out the middle man of that awkward title, when the standalone games will never be released separately like they were in Japan?

This is almost as awkward as that DS greatest hits cover where it's a DS box within a DS box

Wouldn't they still be two separate executables? Hence the split?

perhaps, but a 2 disc game is not uncommon in this day and age, and as far as marketing goes, it's simpler to sell one game, and not 2 in one because then people feel like they missed out on some individual release.

Would be easy to just label one disc "part/disc 1" etc and the other "part2/disc 2" or whatever

It's still an annoying concept. ::)
