If you had the opportunity to suggest that someone gets off to talking about the way characters in a game stand, would you let it slip past you?

Yes, I would. That's neither clever nor funny, it's crude and insulting.

I'm pretty sure it's a suit. Besides, if he was turned "robot," how could he be turned back in time for Mega Man 8?

It was a joke.

Did you just compare complaining about someone's fighting stance to having sex?

You derive sexual pleasure from this!?

You're missing the point of Ramzal's argument. It's pretty silly to bash him for criticizing a minor detail of the X series when equally trivial topics are discussed at length in this forum. Last I checked, we're allowed to discuss anything we want about Rockman/Mega Man here, from Proto Man's origin to X's action stance to Ashe's lack of pants.

Logical or not, X's stance in X4-6 actually looks pretty pathetic.

well why WOULD it be able to? but why would there be a model B anyway? hes not X/Zero series. as much as it would be cool.

Better question: how would it be named in Japan?

I figured that they would not have copied that, as its a pretty big risk... though then again, no virus. but even then, he wouldnt need it then.

It's a far greater risk to create a new body for Zero lacking the viral invulnerability from the original, since it would've been susceptible to the Sigma Virus or any simiar viruses which could've been developed in the future.

also, isnt his immunity to Darkelf more a matter of his strong mind/will/whatever have you other than his body? X is also immune, and he does not have a physical body.

The Dark Elf was being used to control the Reploids. Since X had become a Cyber-Elf himself, he was out of the Dark Elf's reach, not to mention that he had the ability to suppress the Dark Elf's power. Zero's immunity to the Dark Elf is a result of the latter being created from samples of the Sigma Virus, which doesn't affect Zero normally. This also serves as indication that Zero's copy body has similar, if not the same properties from the original.

I was saying the original 4 would have Overdrive, just as much as their Double forms would have. That's not to say that Model Z, ZX and X would have Overdrive. The point of the Overdrive Invoke System is to switch in an out of elemental attacks and also empower the primary attacks. In the case of X and Zero, the ability to empower them is very rare, either Limitless Potential suddenly at work or the Overdrive item from the X-series. For the likes of evil superpowers like Model O and Model V however, it's pretty much standard. For the 4, it's only natural with their elemental affiliation.

Ignoring the fact that Model P has no elemental attributes, I personally believe that OIS is an effect from Model X boosting the power of the originals, since it's already been established in ZX that a Double Megamerge draws greater power. The OIS is so far the best way to convey that from a gameplay standpoint. And as you said yourself, Model O and Model W are special cases.

That said, I still would like Inti to at least give Model ZX an ultimate attack (assuming it'll somehow return in the next game).

X / Re: Air Dash v.s. Dash Jump
« on: December 26, 2008, 02:18:27 PM »
While it was cool, I never really found it all that useful, except for select areas.

Oh, another thing, in X6, when Alia says the Falcon Armor wasn't repaired or whatever, why wasn't it ever repaired during the events of the game after the intro stage?

Probably as an incentive to use the new armors the game offers. If you need a plot explanation, you can presume the armor was eventually damaged beyond repair or there simply wasn't time for Alia to work on it, since she had her hands full investigating the Nightmare phenomena (or both).

Anyway, both dash jump and air dash have different uses, and whichever is more useful depends on the situation. Air dash tends to be more practical when you need to overcome obstacles the dash jump can't cover, such as reaching high ledges and dodging certain attacks. However, if I had to choose one over the other, I think I'd vote for the dash jump; it offers more mobility.

As for Overdrive, Model V has exhibited the same ability without the need for X. If anything I'd say that the singular models are fully capable of it, except for the fact that Trans On diminishes the capabilities of a model whereas Double Rock On enhances it. So, the ones that would be capable of it are the real users of the Livemetal, not user of the copied forms.

There is a problem with that hypothesis since the original Model ZX also lacks OIS. I personally believe that Inti limited Model ZX for the sake of balanced gameplay. Giving OIS to Model ZX could've made it too powerful, resulting in a less challenging game. I would've preferred Inti giving Model ZX its full potential though; after all, Model ZX was conceptualized as the most powerful combination, even gaining the title of "Ultimate Rockman" before ZX Gigamix changed that idea. Without gameplay concerns, the Rockman ZX manga has taken creative liberties with Model ZX, with a particular scene of Vent powering up the ZX Saber to gigantic proportions as an ultimate attack.

I'm guessing that gameplay is also why the A-Trans versions of the other Mega Men tend to lack their most powerful attacks. They're powerful, but not practical since they're restrained to a limited area. They wouldn't be very useful outside a boss's room, for example.

Rockman Series / Re: Musings - What Makes X Different From Rockman?
« on: December 12, 2008, 05:54:49 PM »
This was mentioned earlier, but Dr. Light's statement in Power Battle of robots needing the ability to determine right and wrong by themselves is really the main difference between 20XX robots and X (and Reploids by extension). While 20XX robots can act much like humans, they can't choose whether to be good or bad; they're programmed that way. This is their limitation, straight from the games. It isn't a convoluted explanation.

Otherwise, 20XX robots act human in practically every way. All intelligent robots in the MM series have emotions, beliefs and tastes which stem from the personality traits they were programmed with. Rock was created with a strong sense of justice, which is why he requested to become a battle robot, and the reason he questioned his own methods when Wily accused him of hypocrisy in Power Fighters. This also makes him a naive character since he gives everyone the benefit of doubt. His emotions also allow him to feel anger, which often compels one to do things they normally wouldn't, such as threatening Wily in MM7.

In regards to X's "suffering circuit"... if I'm not mistaken, this is the official translation from MMZOCW:

Quote
Sigma Virus

The terrifying virus that causes a Reploid to go Maverick.  The virus actually originated from one of the circuits that Dr. Light installed in X's brain.  The circuits function was to keep X neutral and unbiased in matters concerning humans and Reploids.  Tragically, the very same circuit condemned X to a life plagued by the philosophical question that weighed the value of humans against that of Reploids - a question to which there was no answer.

This doesn't define X's ability as a "suffering circuit". It simply tells in different words what we already knew, that X's circuitry gives him the ability of defining right and wrong on his own, leading him to worry continuously about the welfare of others and the right thing to do. Is it right to place humans above Reploids, or Reploids above humans? This is just one of many questions that X has to ponder within the course of his life, which causes him to treat both equally.

Ironically, even with this difference between Mega Man and Mega Man X, they're actually pretty similar. They both have a sense of justice. They both try to do what they believe to be right. Rock, however, doesn't hesitate as much as X does simply because the righteousness of his actions is hardly questioned. This takes us back to the example from Power Fighters. Rock hesitates against Wily because, for the first time, his justice is brought to question. Rock wants peace for both humans and robots, but is he bringing peace to the robots he fights against? It's a valid argument and Rock has to stop and think about it because he lacks a solid answer for that. He needs to be reassured that he is doing the right thing in order to go on, taking to heart the advice from Dr. Light and his family.

ZX / Re: ZX References
« on: December 12, 2008, 01:09:02 AM »
I can see some similarity but both of their hair colors are different:

Vent: brown
Rockman EXE: black (with the exception of course of Full Synchronization).

Also...has anyone noticed that Model A is the only Live Metal without a crystal? (Look at the bolt thats replaced it D:) It's a reference to the time when Axl got faced by Lumine and had his crystal broken (explanation to how he is affected by the little shard Lumine gives him <AIDS> and that he seems fine during Command Mission is beyond my reasoning).

Model A has a crystal. The "bolt" on the helmet opens up to reveal a bright blue gem when A-Trans is used. The crystal is also seen briefly in the cutscene of Grey/Ashe megamerging for the first time.

Actually he made them to seek out Rockmen and bring them into the Game of Destiny.

No, that was Albert's ruse to hide his true intentions from the two. The whole Game of Destiny was a set up Albert devised to gather the Model W fragments, so that the hatred from Prometheus and Pandora could serve as the catalyst to create Ouroboros.

The small 4's eyes are red because they're mind-controlled, yes.  Grey's eyes were red right after he was activated too, but they faded to green immediately afterward, which is when Pandora showed up talking about how the mind-control didn't work and Grey was therefore defective.

Pandora said that Grey's brainwashing was incomplete as a result of Grey being awakened prematurely. It's not that the process wasn't working; it was interrupted.

It should also be mentioned that even though the four Mega Men were conditioned in some level, they weren't bound to Albert's will. This is evidenced by Aeolus's willingness to defeat Albert in order to become king. It isn't true mind control as the four were still in control of their own actions.

We can't exactly say that Ciel is Roll or Alia either.

And that would be...?

It's included in the scans, it isn't hard to spot.

Thank you dude, that's neat!

Only one question: isn't there a better pic of young PnP?
The only one available is that in which you have the cd plastic over it?
If not, would you scan it please?
If so, is it possible to remove that plastic part for a better pic (only if you're in a good mood)?

Thank you again.

That's the only image of the two if you don't count the first panel of Death and Witch. Also, the album was difficult to find and expensive to boot, so I'm not willing to risk damage in an attempt to get a better scan, sorry.

On a side note, could someone please translate the Liner Notes (included in the file)? I may consider scanning the other pages if someone is willing to translate them as well.

I had mixed feelings about sharing these but after some private conversation, I figured the community could benefit from it. It's not the highest possible quality but it's still good enough for viewing:

<<EDIT: Removed dead link. If you're looking for scans, you can find better ones here.>>

I scanned the noteworthy illustrations. The booklet has concept art scattered in the other pages, but it's mostly covered by text and from what I could tell, it's nothing we haven't seen. Many thanks to Kieran Walker for his help in purchasing the album.

The contents of the booklet are:
