First of all, we actually have a new game in development. This time for the PC. But I'll get back to that later.

Why we went with Volt?
First of all, it was robust and fast. Once I learned how to use it, we were able to play table top games faster, enjoying the game so much more.

Second, the people who developed the system live 1 hour train ride from me. It's not the reason why I chose Volt, but when we want new things developed it's easier to meet face to face and explain what we need.

Third, writing an agreement wasn't hard, which we all signed for colalboration. Doing the same with D&D would most likely be impossible...

But I can give my opinion on whatever design you have in mind o/
I would be most grateful!

I am working on a new layout.

Please tell me what you think of this example:

...and what you think I could do to improve it...

I am actually about to remake the webpage, so your advice actually came in handy. Allow me to create a base layout and show it to you here...

I won't be able to do anything as awesome as the World of Warcraft webpage, but whatever I do will probably be good enough...

And so we come upon a dilemma. Do you want to be recognised as who you are, or a creator of fan material? Honestly, it's a matter of goals and motivation. You should do whichever one you feel you want to. But you also have to understand how each will have different results.
Yeah... that's right on the mark.
I would probably be able to find more fans enjoying my work if I continued with the fan-project. I'd be easier from that point of view.
But I would never be able to take it to the next step...

By the way, New Horizon looks good. The web design needs work though. Not very pretty and rather user-unfriendly.
Now that was interesting... would you be able to show me a webpage you know of which is much better than mine?

Don't worry, I'm not blaming you or anything.
I can understand things like this pretty well, I was just complaining because I like to... and also because I missed that one sentence in orange cuz I'm stoopid doopid. : P
Sorry if I seemed like an [dark hold], it seems to happen to me a lot here. : <
You have nothing to apologize for. It was an honest statement. And I prefer discussions like this compared to silence. Besides, feedback, any feedback, is valuable.

You know that you dont NEED Capcom's approval to make a fan game, right? If they want you to stop, theyll just contact you and tell you to stop. Otherwise, they dont really care. Fan games are just publicity for them. In fact, I think Nintendo's the only ones who ever actually stopped a fan project (Zelda movie)
I saw a Zelda clone being stopped... maybe because they were reusing their in-game graphics... but you're probably right.

But that wasn't the only reason. We also stopped because many of my colleagues thought that if we were to invest countless of hours into something, then why not do something original. We just didn’t want to stand in Capcom’s shadow…

What would you do in my clothes? Would you continue working for month on something that belongs to someone else, or would you prefer creating something of your own?

I see you've turned this into some sort of tabletop rpg, or something, at least judging by the site. I became kinda interested.
Then I noticed you're SELLING a rulebook... and I became not interested.
Thank you for giving this a peek at least!
I'm not apologizing for having a book for sale. My dream is to do this work for a living after all, and the art and other things for the book cost a lot!!!
But the important thing is one small sentence in orange color saying "Everything you need to play the RPG is available for FREE. Just follow point 1-9 and enjoy the game!"

We have 6 main races: 3 human (Olympian Human, Promethean Cyborg and Medean) and 3 wafan (Aeisr Wafan, Vanir Wafan and Jorun Wafan).
We have just created our first humanoid race which is not a Human or Wafan, called Faenorr...

Maybe they were hoping that, if Capcom took interest in the project, that would mean that the MM: NH team was doing something right?
This comes very close to what I was hoping for back in those days... my name is Michal Lysek, my friends call me Lysekoid. I go back as a MegaMan fan all the way to 1998. My nick name comes from Lysek and Reploid.
I am one of the creators, sprite artists and programmers of MegaMan New Horizon:
http://www.newhorizon1.com/mmnh.html
(Everything we did is available for download at the site above)

Actually, we did contact Capcom, and I got a reply too… but they didn’t say we could continue, or that we should stop. They only said they would show it to their staff, and that’s it. The largest problem was “not knowing”. Would they sue us sometime in the future is the game got popular? I know that everything we did was original work. All sprites, art and the whole game engine were developed by me and my team. And all I hoped for was either a “this is cool, we will allow you to continue for now” or “Stop doing what you are doing and close this project down.” Not giving us a reply simply made us do the latter.

But I miss this project. It was very advanced, and a lot of fun.

But then a few people came to me and said, “why are you wasting time on a franchise fan-game which will never have a future, when you can do something unique instead”. I am very grateful for the people who said that. So… Mega Man New Horizon… was remade into New Horizon. We removed Reploids, and created our own race called Wafans. And we’re having a lot of fun with it… it’s not that far off from MegaMan, and I’d be very happy if you’d like to hear more about it…

I admit, I came here to tell you about New Horizon, hoping that if you liked MMNH, this might interest you as well.

But that’s now all… I was searching for MegaMan sites, hoping to find some old friends, but there aren’t that many MegaMan forums left. There were so many more just a few years back… I hate it when things like that happen…

PS! I’m not here just to make a few posts and then disappear. I am not here to drag people away from this place. I’m here to talk about New Horizon and show you what we’ve done, although a new thread might be good for that… and I’m here to stay if you can live with that. Besides, MegaMan New Horizon and New Horizon have a lot in common, even though MM doesn't live in our world anymore...
