It's not known what they are.
In the manga, Kite "dies" like 5 minutes in. Also, this apperantly is the FINAL game.
According to a friend, The full name of the game is call ".hack//Link Order of the Twilight Knight Brigade" (or any other variations)
From what he gathered, this game will take place 3 years after G.U. And the text at the left of the scan says "Finally the end (last .hack game?) !? The compilation of the series makes its appearance on PSP!"

That would be sad if this really is the end of the .hack series but we're not sure for now.

Probably a game like Phantasy Star Zero with the multiplayer element, but it'd probably be an actual MMO or something akin to the World depicted in the .hack series, seeing as there's no freaky digital weirdness going on with this one. (anyone else also notice the chibi Kite lookalike on the first link?)
The PSP game (odd how they're suddenly directing to the handhelds after all the previous games being on the PS2) seems interesting, but the red-haired teen that I assume is the main character looks like a real.. Well, dopeish loser with anime high-school genericness. With various other characters from the previous games on the pages though, I'd have to guess that this game will contain quite abit of fanservice. :\

I remember this. I'm not too sure if it's a .hack project, regardless of the Kite-like character appearing in the art and the "welcome to the world" phrase. Take a good look at the populous and buildings; looks an awful lot like something out of Tail Concerto (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tail_Concerto).

Tokio is easily the worst and gayest main character in the history of the franchise. He's both hyper actively annoying and a nerd. Also unlike the others who used PCs, he's actual self is in the game itself...supposedly.

Haven't gotten really far.. (Haven't beat others!) and apparently they are melding everything in, even shoving in characters from the anime. (IF they are OC for the anime, haven't really beat the series. I need to buy 4 and the entire G.U. series)
So yea, big finale. This may call for an unsuspecting MMO afterwards in the US release. (betting on this)
I always thought that the characters that looked like them in-game are bound to be deleted sometime..

Are those first two scans suppose to be the main character and the main character IRL? We don't get enough Dot Hack characters as they look IRL.

The main character Tokio, and main heroine. Unlike the others who just played, or fell into Comas and were in the game, Tokio has more or less been taken into the game itself physically. Because he's not a PC, he can't actually level up and remains at level 1. (manga info)
Link for the most part linking all the other series, as well as being a huge trip down memory lane recreating and combining the past events. Via some group using something called the Akisha records to manipulate the present with the past. That's why Haseo is back to being a douche bag and insane, Tsukasa has lost her memory again, Why Ovan has his arm sealed again, both kites exist, etc.
Though seems to be one character who's unaffected.

I just did the tutorial and the 1st stage available with Haseo as my UPC. Over all, awesome. And the music is good as well. Getting GREATS takes some time to get used to, but over all the game is looking pretty sweet.
When I got to the boss battle and Deepest Memories, with full vocals started playing, the 1st words to come to mind were
"[tornado fang], [tornado fang], HOLY [tornado fang]!"
Over all definitely an import ASAP.

As far as I know there isn't any for 6, and there never will be. Dark Alex was pretty much the man behind it all, and he's seemingly retired from the CFW biz.

This demo uses a new firmware type, the same type that Gundam vs Gundam NEXT PLUS uses that so far is unplayable on any existing CFW.
New scans and Xth forms. Aside from Elk who's now even more fabulous, and maybe Lockon, all the other Xth forms might has well have just been their new designs to begin with. There's very little to no changes at all with the outfits. Pai's full teacher look is nice though. Most disappointing of all though is that Youkou's Xth isn't similar to her evil outfit from the manga. =/

Randomly looking at the 2nd scan again and didn't notice it had a Vocal song list on it. 6 originals for LINK, 2 of which we already heard on the demo.

Main thing was a new PV. Awesome glimpse of one of the new songs at the end.System section also updated, and there was a massive update to the character list. All the other epitaph users except Yata, and they added Shino.
They also Added the Xth forms for everyone (minus siskle members), and I mean EVERYONE....................Except for Kenny and Ovan. So far neither of the 2 has even appeared as a playable character in the trailers T_T

You might have to. So far there's been no official word on a US version, and those are noramally revealed from the start. I know I'm importing though.

This style bears resemblance to that anime flick.. only it's shorter, and not at it's full potential, and it appears that the eyes almost never move for some strange reason (the eyes need support the bodily gestures to make them more lifelike).

The ones that made that opening was Studio 4°C.
Seriously the opening was great, but the artwork did kill it a bit. If it was more the regular-type of artwork used for the character arts for .hack//LINK would've made this opening 10x better! Though I did like how the movements were all so fluid and smooth.
Also I'm going to wait for a US release of this game... since it's been released today or yesterday or it's going to be released tomorrow? Are we a day ahead of Japan or is Japan is? I forget.

Nothing really. As to the pic above it's from what I mentioned earlier, Haseo and Ovan can use the outfits of the characters that their seiyuu's voiced in Tales of Graces. Also you can switch between for forms.

So far is it like how the .hack//LINK manga started with Tokio entering "The World" or is it slightly different? And does he meet Kite and Fluegel the same way too or differently?

I have no real means of uploading anything.
As to story, the beginning with Kite and Flugy starts off similar, but that's just a dream sequence. The rest after that is nothing like it was in the manga. You might as well forget about it all together. Currently it seems like it's going to have Tokio useing thet Akasha record to travel to the various eras from the series. Currently in 2007/what ever year SIGN took place in.
One thing that's kind of amusing. When you open up your mail, the screen changes side ways forcing you to hold you PSP on it's side, like an iPhone.
Also as your familiar with the old games, they give you a [parasitic bomb] load of wallpapers to use for you desktop. Which is the case here, but also you can use them as custom WP for your PSP itself. I just bought this one.

Tokio uses the Akasha Records to appear in different eras of "The World"? So he doesn't meet the .hack characters in The World R:X, just Akasha Record versions of them? Or does he go in there to help them as they're in the Akasha Records as well? Or something to that extend? I'm really curious about the story now!

You can do that with any image. But that Saika WP is directly from the game itsel1f. It gives you the option if you want to to save it to the MSPD, which you can use for the PSP itself. I extracted that image from it.
Puting images from the stick into the PSP is easy. I use it all the time when creating custom themes.

So what? They're AI versions of them or the actual players behind them who are trap in the Akasha Records by the Schicksal and Tokio frees them and repay Tokio's help by joining forces with him to take down the Schicksal and the Flying Whale-shape Airship acts as the HUB or base of operations for the main characters? And what about Saika Amagi? Does she appear often or not since she was the one who sent Tokio, both physically and mentally, into "The World"?

Saika is pretty much the 2ndary main character. She appears all the time and talks to them via from the real world. As far as we know they're real. Subaru seems to know that Tsukasa isn't right, and has forgotten about her.

Ok, this is pretty much how it goes from my understanding after playing it more,

The World R:X is pretty much screwed due to Shicksal messing with the Akasha records, and Mac Anu, along with all the old characters are frozen in time.
Tokio goes to the past era/series, and their stories pretty much stick to the original canon, even with things like Tsukasa's grunty dieing. Only Tokio is now there. After clearing said time line, you get the Chrono core from the main character, which in turn he uses to free the PC data of their future versions back in 2020. (Tsukasa fully remembered Tokio). You also free some other characters, but the majority are NPCs. But not all are unlocked for the series.
After I finished the main sign route, a sun route appeared. One mission unlocked Subaru, while the other unlocked Silver Knight. You don't have to do them, but I did anyways. Currently I'm doing the ZERO Route that unlocked.
Also more WPs. Im too lazy to add their ID numbers for anything other than the 1st two.

Seeing the main character as a Grunty is really a bold move from Ban Dai/Namco games. 'Cute tho. I wonder what the standard wallpaper you get at the beginning of the game is like.. hmm.

Tokio Grunty is in the game right from the start. The giant time traveling whale ship thing is more or less an at home. Complete with various shops, rooms, development areas, etc. You even have to organize people in certain areas to get better products.

No, I mean 70% done with the ROOTS segment. I still need GU, the rest of link, and a ton of side events from the less series. [tornado fang]ing pissed that I can't get Karl as a playable character. <3 her.
I got my copy at around 10:00am PST yesterday, and it's currently almost noon today. I've pretty much been playing it non stop for 20-24 [tornado fang]ing hours. I couldn't sleep at all, and had to hook up the ac adapter at least 6 times.
I just barely stopped an hour ago to clean up and take a shower. Now to scavenge through the fridge.

For the most on the main story paths for the series, your teamed up with that series main. For the side stories though you can use anyone you have. As to my personal preference, Tsukasa and the Gundam I call ZERO. So far Tsukasa is the only one with the full 5 hearts on her profile.
Douche bag->Shy->Tsundere->moe-> TRUE BRO! (as much as bro a reverse trap can be >.>)
Over all, game is awesome, and easily worth a buy. I was regretting spending $80 on just one PSP game, but not anymore.

When doing cross Rengeki's, you get certain bonuses. Tsukasa's is by far the most useful since his increases virus cores. Which you need to upgrade job ranks.

Job Ranks? What does Job Rank do? Increase your characters' stats?
Also is Tokio an actual Twin Sword/Blade class or is it his preferred fighting style since he's physically in "The World"? Also how did he get his weapons? Did Saika give it to him?

It increases stats, and artes to stronger ones. Tsukasa's poison the [tornado fang] out of everything ability is actually pretty broken.
Also once Tokio gets his X-th form, everyone else unlocks there if their rank is maxed.
And Tokio's not really any different form a normal PC. The manga's level 0/1, or what ever was just the manga. Nothing like that in the real thing. His official job as "Duel Edge". And he just had them when he got to The World.

I see... a very useful way to use Virus Cores.
So everyone gets their Xth Form when their Job Rank is maxed and only when Tokio gets his Xth. Is Tokio able to switch between his normal form to his Xth Form like everyone else or he's stuck like that when he transforms.
So is the "Duel Edge" a new class for The World R:X, or a rename of an existing class, and did Tokio pick that class or automatically given the class.

Tokio just had that class. As far as things go he's so far the only one with it. Kite is listed as Twin Sword like always.
Go Tokio's Xth form. Death yo-yo's of mass destruction! At least now I see why the song was called "hero of Gear".
Also Tokio can't switch as his is canon. Everyone else except Haseo's is just a gameplay mechanic.

And AIKA is in the game. She's The AIDA, the good kind that Ovan tried to get the others to learn about in the REBIRTH OVA. The remnants of the AIDA from Ovan's activation of rebirth in GU vol 3 moved onto another online game. Using the knowledge and emotions that the AIDA obtained, it made itself into a NPC; that is AIKA.
Some character changes in GU. Haseo is [tornado fang]ing Hitler in this game and is just murdering people left and right, and using Skeith on normal players because it needs to feed on them.

Actually, no. They're assisting Tokio because they were instructed to by Genius, aka Shicksals leader. Also Fluegel is nowhere to be seen. Schicksal members all special PCs, and are directly linked to them. Fluegel was stabbed in the back, which means that's exactly what happened to him in the real world damage wise. The only members I have so far are the kid one and Clarinet.
Saika got an email telling her that her brother was alive, and being imprisoned on the top floor of the Akasha tower. Along with the mail she was sent the disk with the "real digitized" technology. Which can turn a human into a PC. But there's a certain requirement in that only humans capable of DoubleWare(or wear) are capable of it. Also it eventually breaks down the mind of the person. Which is why Tokio keeps getting unexplained head aches. . the disk that she was sent, which I mentioned earlier also contained the Virus.

So they were order to assist Tokio, who is this Genius guy anyway? And Fluegel is nowhere to be found? So you got to have him as a Party Member for a short while or is he listed in the Party Member selection screen but blacken out so you're unable to use them.
Also what's the X-Rengeki that Tokio performs with Klarinette and Cello? And is it only those three characters from Schicksal? And what do you mean that the Schicksal members special PCs are link to whom?
EDIT: After taking another look at what you wrote about their special PCs, it's similar to Tsukasa to when her conscious was trapped inside "The World" are felt pain like she was real inside the game. So since Fluegel got back-stabbed in the game his real world self was hurt as if someone stabbed him in the real world as well. Is that it?

Well I'm planning to ask my grandpa to import the game tomorrow so I'm playing the demo more to convert it to the actual game when I get it.
Anyway how is Tokio as a main character? Is he better portray in the game better than his manga counterpart or are they about the same?
Also about the Virus Cores... for the Job Rank to increase do you need a certain amount of a certain Virus Core to increase the Rank or one of each Virus Cores to upgrade Job Ranks? And what's the max level for the Job Rank? Is it Level 10?

And you need specific types to upgrade jobs. Which can be a pain because you get them by killing enemies with cross rengekis, but you can't pull those off if your over leveled and kill the enemies too fast.

So Tokio in the game version is much cooler than his manga counterpart, eh? But Saika in the game isn't as cool as her manga counterpart?
And the Virus Cores... that must be a pain in the butt. Since the level cap is 10 in the demo I use it to start collect some of the Virus Cores right away so I don't have the hassle of collecting them when I'm overlevel in the actual game?
Anyway how far are you in the game? Did you beat it yet?

Tokio is somewhat annoying, but he's not as stupidly cliched as the Manga version. In the end, As much as I hate to say it, Tokio is a BRO.
Especially in GU routes version of the moon tree event. Haseo goes insane, and decides to kill Atoli because he finds her real life/suicide issues boring. This starts a fight where Tokio beats the [tornado fang] out him.

Huh? I thought that was the Final Boss' 1st Form music... I guess the person who mention it was, was wrong.
I never hated Tokio in the first place, thought he look too much like a certain Digimon character, I found him to be an enjoyable and likable character to me.
Anyway does his character improve (Personality-wise) once he gets his Xth Form or remains the same?
So Saika is more or less the same as her manga counterpart. Does Tokio still have a crush on her, and what about AIKA and Klarinette? Do they show interest or just Tokio. Feel sorry for the guy for going through the trouble of being bossed around by the girl he likes and other girls show no interest in him.
The reason why Saika is so bossy and pushy with Tokio is so that he can free/help her brother in "The World" (I had a feeling they were siblings). Does she respect and treat Tokio as the game progresses?
Also this is information regarding Ovan, Helbel, and Zelkova. They are the only three characters that can be unlocked by completing all of LINK's difficulty levels LINK Play option and then you have to complete all unlocked scenarios in the main game. So three difficulty levels, can solo, and 50 floors just to unlock three characters. Quite the challenge, eh?

Who ever said it was the final bosses music was being Ignorant. It plays during the 1st phase with it, bit it plays long befor that in the GU story.
And I know about Ovan and the others. But LINK play is too stupid to bother with despite how powerfull Ovan is.

That's the battle against Haseo. (AIDA). His rage is actually CONTROLLING the god damn AIDA and manifesting itself with the avatars power. Though the avatars themselves don't appear in game. Only during story scenes.
Also That Haseo can use his flicker scythe, which normal Haseo can't do.
Main story wise I'm 94% complete, and have over 60 hours clocked in.
Each scenario varies.

Haseo was still affected by it, and corrupted. So far, the only person who could really controll AIDA was Ovan.

I ordered from Play-Aisa. Game was 64 ish, with a $5 off code bringing it down to 60. I then used Fed-EX which was around another 20. it shipped late WEDS night, and got here early friday morning.
FED-EX is better than UPS because the give you up to date times, and more importantly a specific time period for when it's going to arrive.
Wasn't really that hard. And your wrong, it doesn't require beating 3 difficulties.

Ovan and Clarinet of Shicksal are pretty broken. They even have a similar Cross Rengeki. In that Tokio is about to do something and acts tough, but then the other just steps in and does the entire attack on their own.

Their attacks are completely different, it's just that they have the same theme in that Tokio doesn't do anything and made to look like a moron.
Cello's involves her doll turning into a giant and eating the enemy.
Also Ovan is canon.

So you get Ovan by playing the game's main story? Interesting... so does that make Cubia the one to be unlock through LINK Play?
Also I imported the game and picked the FedEx option as the well for the Asian version since it was $5 cheaper plus the English manual would come in handy.

Extra Ending? Though there's no sound and the person who upload it said there's 2 more parts to it so we'll have to wait and see.

Already seen them all. And There's 2. One for normal, and when when both characters have Xth forms.
and that shows up after the Akasha record is done with the link timeline. It pops up as UNKNOWN at 2024. Link itself only takes place in 2020. And the sound is only a song.

Huh? Which two characters with the Xth Form? Tokio and Haseo?
So is there three or endings? The one for after you beat the Final Boss, and I have a feeling I know who is is (since that characters been in like almost all .hack games/stories), and the 2024 Ending one?
Well since I used the FedEx option and it shipped the day I order it I should get it today or until Friday at the latest.

Except for the specials PCs, There's a Cross Rengeki for each character, and another one when both characters have the Xth forms.
And there's only ONE ending. the 2024 things are just extras.

Good news for me! My game has successfully be imported to my address!
Bad news is that I wasn't home when they arrived so I have to wait until tomorrow to receive my game from FedEx.
Well at least I know getting it! But I like to know if there's anything I need to know before I start playing my game?
I have a Level 10 Tokio with...
50 HP Recover items, 50 Soda (SP Healing items), 30 Virus Core A, 50 Virus Core B, 50 Virus Core C, 8 Virus Core D, 30 Virus Core E, 24 Virus Core F, and those two other items at the end after the Virus Cores which I don't know what it's used for from the demo I have.
Is this a good start for me or is there anything else I should do?

By the way can you replay story chapters? I'm curious since I'm playing through the story and once I complete a dot in a timeline it turns green, but I was wonder if you can go back and replay it?
I'm working through the story so I haven't check? Anyone know if this is possible?

Wut? Apparently Kite's look is very popular, in a similar case with one of the characters in \\SIGN, except that was a recolor. It's more than likely that this one was made exclusively for this game.

Actually, it's not a recolor. That's one of the characters that appears in the UNKOWN era (2024) of the Akasha records. Link itself takes place in barely 2020.
What it means is unknown.

I really would like to think they have another idea for the next .hack// game, if this game does sell well enough. That's wishful thinking, but here's to hoping.

It's more like everyone character has a Poison Hit attack... Kite, Black Rose, Tsukasa, Mimiru, etc...
I think almost everyone has a Poison Hit attack and Tokio has the chance to Poison an enemy with his regular attacks! Though I think that's when he teams up with Tsukasa with him at a higher Job Rank and the ability to Poison an enemy when you strike them.

Sweet man! But I'm curious if that Kite is a male or female, despite the voice is feminine, since the PC is male I guess.
Anyway I finally got Tokio Xth Form and I have to say... HOLY FREAKIN' SNAP! His Xth Form kicks so much butt it isn't funny! And his Yo-Yo Blades of Destruction is so wicked! Tokio is much faster and stronger and his Air Dash (X Button + X Button) covers so much range it's crazy and his Spinning Dash Attack is epic!
I'm in love with this form! I like Haseo's Xth Form, but the Dual Guns with Blades were OK but it didn't really fit my playing style, but Tokio's Xth Form is perfect for me! I love using Dual Swords and in the range in his Xth Form is awesome! Totally fits my playing style!
Anyway after the battle with his Nightmare and obtaining that form why did Tokio freak out? Was he unaware that he changed his appearance and was asking what happened to him? Then again he was busy fighting with his Nightmare so I guess he didn't have time to check himself out.
So Setsuna, who was your favorite boss fight so far? Currently mine is Orgel the first time you battle him since it was tough and was the only boss to bring my HP down a lot to the danger zone and his gun attacks and bombs made him a unique and strong opponent.
EDIT: Quick question, why the heck is Phyllo still around in 2020? Didn't he die of cancer long before then? Are not some of these guys just AI versions of these past characters that don't exist because of the Chrono Cores' powers? There's no way there's players behind some of these guys (like Sora, Elk, Wisemane, etc...)

Also the characters can switch between their forms, right? Normal and Xth. So I was wondering how or when do I gain the ability to do that?
I just got my first Xth Form partner, Mimiru, but she can't revert back if I wanted to and her Job Rank is 2. Does this have to do with Job Ranks again?

Only Haseo can switch between normal and Xth. Since he has 2 different move sets, and also because Haseo and Ovan needed that option built in to use their Tales of Graces outfits.
