Japanese blog COCOROG (http://tarbosan.blog66.fc2.com/) has obtained a scan from the newest Coro Coro Comics, detailing the mysterious contest. Details are slim, but based on my limited Japanese knowledge, readers are asked to vote for which series will see a revival. COCOROG's report:

I find it interesting that the image up there lists X twice... Common X and CM version X. Which means there are chances for a Command Mission 2.

The deadline for the "Rockman Series Boss Character Contest" is February 13th.
The blogger hopes that a new X or DASH game should be made. ^^

I'm always hoping for a new legends, but a new X game would be good too!

Tough call, as much as I want X9 or CM2 to come alive, but the Legends series is M.I.A. (missing in action)
Therefore, I believe Legends 3 should come first.

Im hopin XCM 2 or L3. they would both be nice. especially L3, since it might motivate me to buy the first 2. (never played them...)

1) DASH 3
2) X9
3) Any thing else
That's pretty much the way my personal order of preference goes.
Of course, if this is going to be a largely JP-centric effort, then it probably will either be DASH or EXE. With original Rockman now out of the running, those are the two series that, all in all, the Japanese Rockman fan base cares about the most, and probably could stand to see a continuance (if it was merely up to them).
I'd like to think that if this was indeed something relating to X, eventually, Americans would get their turn at Boss designs, too.

if its japan, then it will probably be an EXE title... since they love that kind of thing. if it were up to world response, then X and Legends might have a better chance. since we like that better than card battlers, having gotten enough of that with Yugioh and Pokemon.

I don't get why everyone has Legends 3 as the second coming of Christ, plus they always get the best cameos in all the "vs Capcom" games anyways.
I'd rather have something else, like X9, CM2 or ZX3.
I fully endorse Megaman Soccer 2. There aren't nearly enough spin-off games, hell I'd even welcome Battle Chip Challenge or Real Operation sequel.

Mega Man Soccer satisfied all of our soccer needs, I say they move onto baseball. That should be fun.

If they were to move from soccer I'd have Megaman tennis or a sequel to Battle & Chase.

Ciel's pregnant with his child, so of course he has to run. The game is basically the organization-formerly-known-as-Resistance sending assorted animaloids to track Zero down and him killing them one by one because he's basically the living embodiment of "I Ran". They should totally get some J-Pop band to do a cover and use that as the ad's BGM.

He lived. It was definitely all that peace afterward that killed him.

Zero actually lived 200 years after Z4, but later died due to being brain-washed by Model V and fighting Vent/Aile.

Capcom isnt going to outright SAY he died. because theyre just not like that. I mean, they never Willl tell us what happened to the crew of Megaman classic between it and X, what makes you think theyl tell what happened for sure about Zero?
he's dead. deal with it. ZX outright proves it.
besides, to quote Zan from many other discussions on Zero surviving Z4,
"way to ruin Zero's epic finale."
that was the most epic moment and the climax of the story. Zero's finest hour, the conclusion. the end. Zero survived to stop the threat from a hundred years ago, Dr Weil. a battle of the past. Zero defeated Weil and Ragnarok fell apart. he then died upon atmospheric reentry, which storywise, is right as he defeats Weil. I mean, not even Zero can survive reentering the atmosphere. and even then, hitting the ground at terminal velocity like that would be able to kill Sigma himself like 5 times over.
its logic, and story logic. the moment that final battle starts, you know Zero will die. it has to happen for the story to come full circle, otherwise, the meaning of the whole final fight would be lost.
