Title: Star Wars - The Clone Wars...
Post by: Rin on January 31, 2011, 01:44:29 PM
... AKA the 3D cartoon, which is better than the prequels.

So I just watched recently a couple of episodes of the third season, and I must say... I'm surprised.
This show isn't THAT bad. Sure, the old Clone Wars cartoon was much better... but I don't care.
If I'm able to enjoy something prequel related... it's good.

Anyway. The latest episode was interesting, albeit a bit rushed. I never thought I would think that Anakin is badass... but then this episode proved me wrong. Go check it out on youtube or something. It's episode 15 from series 3.

There was an episode with Greedo...and he speaked without subtitles. I was..shocked :D
Anyways the show is better than the 3  prequel movies combined in my opinion

It's like they're trying to make up for what the prequels didn't do right. Which is everything.

They're actually giving CHARACTER to the characters in the prequels.

And since everything is CG, noone looks out of place :D

Honestly, I love the show.  I have Season One on DVD, with plans to snap up Season Two, and I eagerly await Season Three as I missed a few episodes, due to not having a TV.

And as for the episode with Greedo...  Yes, it officially did away with some EU backstory, which made for a mess for us at Wookieepedia to clean up, but it was still a good episode.  He got some hot Twi'lek lovin'.  And I was perfectly fine for him speaking Basic (English), as I've been voicing an English Greedo for a while.

My fave episode so far this season?  Pursuit of Peace.  Others may not have cared for the political commentary, but I loved that episode.  It gave us a glimpse into the socio-economic impact the war is having on the common man, something we would otherwise never get to see.

LoL, we see ZERO effect of the war on ANYONE in the movies.

There is a war? I thought it was just random Jedi shenanigans

Well, there's a war occurring in the background, with points of interest being the character development and Jedi shenanigans.

Last week's episode was downright weird.  Not one of my faves, that's for sure.  It had some interesting points, but I could see where it was also influenced very heavily by Avatar and other things.  It just was too out-there for my taste, didn't seem to fit with the tone that the series was trying to convey.  I'd sooner see it in some EU novel.

I ripped music from the Wii version of the Lego Clone Wars game.
I regret nothing, it's awesome. I'm so buying this game for PC when I have the money again. : D

Here, have some:

Topic dead.

...derailing into betting what's Ashoka's death going to be like. 8D

Too bad they probably won't kill her.

I'm betting it'll either be her escaping from the galaxy forever when [parasitic bomb] hits the fan, or she's gonna lose her jedi powers (or swear to never use them again because Annie went boo-boo or some [parasitic bomb]) and join the Alliance.

Well, this coming weekend is the US premiere of the season finale, which will (hopefully) include a sneak peak into Season Four.  As usual, I plan to watch it.  Then I get to hop onto Wookieepedia and thwart people trying to add in their fanon.

REVIVING! The "old" Clone Wars cartoon is so [tornado fang]ing awesome.
I can't believe I missed out on this.
I wouldn't ever believe Grievous can be so badass... I was proven wrong. AND DAT VOICE!

A true gem indeed. My favorite battles had to be the ones with Mace Windu. That [chameleon sting]er was running at, like, 100 mph while slashing those hoards of droids (forgot exactly who he fought).

As awesome as that show was, Samurai Jack was Genndy's best work. Hands down.

Did you mean it like JEDI who pwn Grievous, or did you mean GRIEVOUS BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF JEDI?
Because the first one is only true when we take this into account:

And this was [tornado fang]ing hilarious.

Overall, the battles were so over the top, especially with Mace Windu in charge. The [tornado fang]er was beating up droids BARE HANDED.

I really much prefer Genndy's cartoon over the 3D stuff.

I wish they had Genndy handle the series.

Genndy should handle a lot of things.

A Hellboy cartoon by him would be nice.

I mean his hot Jedi pwning actions..before getting crippled by Mace.....Is it ok if I ignore the prequel movies exist?

I really love this show, its a perfect companion to the previous animated series. The only problem is that it's never on. Other than that, it doesn't really hold back when it comes to content, people get stabbed, shot, etc. It would be pretty boring otherwise, but they've really done a good job making it faithful.

I'm sure everyone else has heard about the live action series that's set to take place between episodes III and IV?
Title: Re: Star Wars - The Clone Wars...
Post by: Quickman on July 15, 2011, 08:19:24 AM
I've heard of it, there's a topic on TheForce.Net concerning it (which I'm currently hunting down), though near as I can tell... there hasn't been much said about it.  There's been quite a bit of discussion regarding it, but seeing as how nothing concerning the live action series has popped up for discussion on Wookieepedia, then Lucas has been either keeping a really tight lid on it, or it's simply fallen by the wayside in favor of the current TCW work and the Star Wars: Detours comedy show planned by Seth Green.

Concerning the live action series, I have mixed feelings.  I'd like to think that it would perhaps integrate some of the more minor characters from ESB, but I have a feeling that any bounty hunters it focuses on will prolly be just Fett.

Pretty much all that's known is the timeframe. Although, like you said, Boba Fett will probably be a character, since the kid who played him in Attack of the Clones is in talks of returning. There's really not many important events to cover, but if it's anything like the Clone Wars, I'd be pleased. The budget may be restricting for a TV series, but I wouldn't doubt LucasFilm.

Well, since Lucas is utterly in love with CG, if he can do CG effects for cheaper than actually building a set, he'll have everyone act in front of a blue screen, with stand-ins in blue unitards, while he sips his coffee and shouts "Faster, more intense!"

Well, I'm already prepared for the inevitable CGI use (abuse?). As long as it looks good, I'm down, but it's too early to judge.

So I watched the fourth episode of series four (I skipped two and three because the first one with the water planet was horrible, to me at least) and... [tornado fang]ing GUNGANS! Jesus Christ, and the preview even had Dooku and Anakin fight it out.
Though the Gungan general was pretty awesome and bro, but I laughed when
[spoiler]THE GUNGANS [tornado fang]ing IMPALE GRIEVOUS AND TAKE HIM AS A PRISONER! It's right after he said "Hurr hurr hurr You must be joking?!" when they wanted to fight him. Even Jar-Jar got a stab at him. Shame that the Gungun general kinda sorta sacrificed himself for that to work. : <

Last Friday's episode made me cringe.

[spoiler] I can only imagine what canon was [tornado fang]'d up when Roos Tarpals bit it.  His article isn't on my watch list, but I pity the editors who are working on him.

Though, after a quick check, it seems Tarpals's death didn't conflict with anything, as he doesn't have the TCW retcon tag on his article. [/spoiler]

It's gotten to the point that I just watch TCW because I feel obligated.  Before, I was enjoying it.  Then, every other episode was canon-[twin slasher].

So after seeing the extended trailer for season 5 (Yes. I know it's already airing) I decided to watch four episodes of season four (how fitting), all of which took place on a "Shadowy planet called Umbara".
The plot is basically:
Anakin's clones have been assigned to a different General, temporarily, in the midst of battle for a dark planet called Umbara. However, General Krell (for that's what he is called) is not exactly a kind Jedi like the others. He simply [tornado fang]ing disregards everything, and sends the clones on suicide missions.
Eventually Capitain Rex and the others must make a hard decision... follow orders or SHOOT KRELL IN HIS STUPID [tornado fang]ing FACE?

What I thought of those four episodes:

Well... I loved it. I like dem Clone Troopers, and I love when they are being fleshed out. And they were fleshed out, alright. Not counting Krell there's basically no Jedi this time around. Mostly Clones. Sure, Anakin appears at the beginning of first episode, and Obi Wan is here and there (mostly in transmissions). But in general it has CLONES. LOTS OF 'EM.

Why is it, that for all the things this show does right, it also has to [tornado fang] up something? As I mentioned many times, General Grievous is useless. FRIGGIN' USELESS.

Agreed.  I liked the show for the action and the animation, but all the canon-raping just drove me up a wall.  Now it's on at a time that I definitely can't watch, even if I made a point to go to my grandma's every weekend to watch it!  I've been just waiting out the DVD releases.

With how TCW was moved to Saturday mornings... there's rumor that the show may not see a sixth season.  Part of me is glad, as it means they'll stop screwing stuff up.  Part of me is sad, though, as no more SW on TV and all I'll have now to watch is... *shudder* ...Detours.

Just try to think of it as some sort of alternate universe, and possibly you might find new enjoyment in this.

I know I do.

That's really the only way that I can watch the show.  I need to shut my brain off for that half hour and enjoy the ride.  I do enjoy watching the show, but not having a TV or cable/satellite puts a real damper on watching it.

As for Detours, it's non-canon.  I'm fine with that.  It's humorous.  I'm fine with that, too.  I love Robot Chicken: Star Wars and have all three DVDs.  However, what truly bothers me about Detours is that they have utterly forsaken their stop-motion roots.  That is simply unforgivable.

It's an entire series and it was aired roughly around the same time as the Ewoks cartoon series.
