Title: General Fan Voice Acting Thread! [POST THOSE FRIGGIN VOICES OF YOURS]
Post by: Rin on August 29, 2010, 04:23:05 PM
So, did you ever try to fandub something? Or maybe you at least tried doing character impressions?
Or maybe you sung a song from your favorite japanese cartoon?
Or possibly... you thought about voicing your own original character?
Or maybe you found a good fandub on youtube, and you wish to share and discuss it with someone?

If the answer, for at least one of those, is "YES YES YES"... then... welcome, in my General Fan Voice Acting Thread.

Truth be told, I actually wanted to just make a thread for my "polish voice acting of great greatability" but decided to make a thread where others can post too.

I think I don't need to explain, what's the purpose of this thread. Just post all of the things I mentioned there.

I start with my own Polish bullshit:

Here are three videos, from three different episodes of Wakfu. I'm dubbing that robot-like guy called Nox.

I've fandubbed some of the story modes in Guilty Gear.

Sol's story (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCIn8dcou3g) (parts link to each other)
May's story (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFgM1IIPkQM) (same as above)
Millia's story (part 1) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hG9VW5Uoowg), and 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGUYFyZXdyo).

Based on the first two, you can see why I outsourced for the Millia audio.

I have other stuff lying around, like me dubbing Mega Man X2 in its entirety, but I'm too lazy to find them atm.

Act one of Yavin Vassilika, anyone?  I did about nine or ten character voices in this.

Underworld: The Yavin Vassilika audio adaptation (includes downloads). (http://swfanon.wikia.com/wiki/Underworld:_The_Yavin_Vassilika_audio_drama)

We're still plugging away on this audio adaptation.  We've gotten a good chunk of the second act edited, and I'm re-adapting some scenes for clarity and redoing some lines.  If this project takes us five years to do, so be it.  We're having fun.

Letting you know ahead of time that the audio quality in the beginning is a bit dodgy.  This was the first time we had ever done this, in regards to some in-depth audio editing and making an audio drama, so most of the editing was experimental.  The quality does improve, though.  And the second part that we're working on currently is much better in terms of audio quality.

You must have been on a hell of a drug back then. : D

Anyway. I decided to record my own version of Hazama from BlazBlue in Polish.
However only one line I translated and recorded, didn't sound horrible. So I'm posting only this one line:

http://www.box.net/shared/c8ah1uee90

"It's not like the six heroes were buddies... Then the other day, I told the old man, "We're buddies, right!?" Ahahahaha!"

Do whatever you feel more comfortable with.
If your prefer Finnish, like I prefer Polish, then do Finnish.

All is acceptable.

OKAY YOU FUCKERS REVIVING THIS!

I did this horrible thing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIyJ498FFzg

It's mostly supposed to be a parody, because I can't really sing. Still, I tried to put some effort into this.
Please don't mind my horrible english... though I might fix the bad timing when I'll make a longer version. : P

So sorry.

OKAY LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!
AND YES, I KNOW IT'S SHORT AND YES I KNOW MY ACCENT STILL SUCKS.

But I tried to put as much power into this voice, as I could at my current voice actan level.

Actually I'm surprised I haven't deleted that Mario song video from youtube.

Welp, time to work harder on the voice actan, I guess. If it's really that bad, even the Hazama video.

How long can my recorded message be?

There is no fixed limit on message length, however be aware that even brief internet connection outages can cause recording to be stopped or to fail, and with longer recordings the chance of this increases.

You guys do know I made a thread for voice acting, right? In fact, I think it's still here on the forum(I believe so).

Whatever...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kM3MasP_APs

I tried to voice act Green Goblin from Spectacular Spiderman... in Polish. Just look up the scene on youtube, if you're interested in knowing what he says.

I'll go hunt it down later and merge the two.

QuickEdit: Done.

Could stand to be spoken a twinge faster. Just my opinion though.
Didn't stop me from laughing.

I'm really interested in Abridging, and I can do some great voices in practice, but I put any voice aside from my own speaking voice through my microphone and it sounds like a cheesy interpretation (at least, to me).

Here's a placeholder (http://vocaroo.com/i/s1TeSV8zFP43) I recorded for my fangame. I voiced/edited it with the voiceover guy from the PS1 MMX games in mind.

Here, you can hear me speak japanese lines of a ygo zexal characters in japanese.
Feel free to laugh at me, but I was just bored and fandubbing in english or polish didn't work out.
So I said, what the hell, and did this.

The only editing I did was to put a couple of effects on the voice (here and there) to make it closer to what Vector has in anime.

I'm getting more and more retarded with my vocal endeavours.

Welp, thanks...

I finished this.
It's honestly not funny, and the idea seemed better in my head (considering it involved changing my voice into a growling one at certain point, but it didn't work out because I suck).

But I got to try out my hand at lipsync (it's the part right after he beats her with the stick) and [tornado fang] around with sfx.

I also thought about adding some stupid ass subtitles, but I forgot about it. I only remembered this now.

Mostly because whenever I read Pandora Hearts I always imagined their voices to be exactly like that.

I need help. A girl's/woman's voice is needed.
I want to make something, but I desprately need for someone to read and record(in a serious tone of voice, kind of like if you're telling a tale) this:
Epitaph of Twilight Fragment

 Unknown where the Cursed Wave was born;
After the stars doth cross the heavens,
The sky in the East doth darken and air doth fill with
 mourning.
From the chosen land beyond the forest, a sign of the
wave comes.
Riding the Wave is Skeith, the Shadow of Death, to
drown all that stands.
Mirage of Deceit, Innis, Betray all with the flawed
image, and did aid the Wave.
And by the Power of Magus, a drop from the Wave doth
reach the heavens, and creates a new Wave.
With the Wave, Fidchell, the power to tell the dark
future, hope darkens, sadness and despair rule.
Gorre schemes when swallowed by the Cursed Wave.
Macha seduces with the sweet trap.
Wave reaches the Pinnacle, and escape none can. Tarvos
still remains with more cruelty to punish and
destroy.
And with the turbulent destruction after the Wave. Only
a void remains. From deep within the void arrives Corbenik.
Perhaps then the Wave is just a beginning as well.
It's from .HAcK series. Anybody up to the challange? i'm not really picky, just try to have some clarity while speaking, if you're interested in helping me.
I shall give full credit and all that.
It's going to be a short video plus music. Though I'm not sure yet in what shape or form the video will be yet. But eh
I can do it.  What type of voice do you want?  I can do sultry.

As for when, I may not be able to find time this weekend, but I can record this week, no problem.  As soon as I'm free, actually, I'll get it done.  How many takes do you want?  I can supply you with at least three, as I do at least three.

Yay. Thanks.
Three would be more than enough, as for the voice itself, it can be anything between passionate and serious. Kinda like a reading of a legend in some show/cartoon/anime/whatever.

I'll give it a try too after I get back from my cousin's birthday party.

Yay. x2

If anything, I'll might mix in both of you somehow. We'll see how it plans out.
Thank you.

Oh yeah. So I posted this (http://randumbmusings.tumblr.com/post/55771247340/sorry-for-the-puffiness-ill-try-to-asphyxiate) on tumblr a couple months back. It's a reading of a joke creepypasta my buddy wrote.

I'd like to double apologize for the puffing. I literally JUST found out like a week or two ago that my microphone works better when it's at a distance away from me. (Which makes no sense since it's a headset. Could've been the mic sensitivity settings on the PC I used back then though.) Anyways if that's not too intolerable, there 'ya go.

Alright, tomorrow I'll be out during the morning, but when I come back, I'll hook up my mic.  I've been warming up my voice, and while I could record right now, I've been drinking milk, which produces too much mucous, and thus isn't conducive to voice acting.  Chocolate, milk, anything that promotes mucous production leaves you going "ahem, ahem" quite a bit.

Yayfications, Quickie!
I shall be waiting.

Also, a couple of warnings about the names contained in that epitaph fragment.

Fidchell is read FEEdell

Macha is read as Maha

Rest of them are pretty easy to read, but those two people often confuse.

That and somehow they think Corbenik is read like "Sorbenik" (at least my friend once read it as such) when in fact it's KORBENIK (duh).

That would be all actually. The rest are pretty "self explanatory" on how to read them. Though even then, sometimes people spell them differently, but not too different. So yeah, as I said, I'll be waiting.
I'm excite.
Just got home.  Got dinner started (slow-cooker, best to start early) and I'm watching Justice League with Mabel.  The local teenagers got off from school, and until the temperature cools down, I run the risk of the A/C kicking on during a recording session.  This evening would be an optimal time to record, and I could double my closet or bathroom as a studio if I need to cut down on noise.

Double-checking again:  Is there a certain inflection you want me to use?  Do you want a straight-up read, with standard diction, so it's obvious that I'm reading from a script?  Do you want the inflection to sound as if i'm recounting from memory?  Any specific style?  Loud and clear?  Soft and reserved?

Sorry for late reply, but I finally slept at night. Just woke up.

Anyway... i think if you read in a "long ago" kind of way it would be perfect. You know, the kinda way that is often used in shows/cartoons/movies when someone speaks of a legend or even introduces the story at the very begginning.

I dunno how to exactly desribe it.

And doing it in clear voice would help.

Alright, so standard diction with a rolling, sing-song inflection.  I wrote down the passage and inserted plenty of beats.  I plan to edit out the pauses afterward myself, but I could leave them intact.  Do you want a raw audio file or an edited one?  Any reverb?
Title: Re: General Fan Voice Acting Thread! [POST THOSE FRIGGIN VOICES OF YOURS]
Post by: Rin on September 12, 2013, 06:09:25 AM
Considering I'm going to make a song to your voice reading this, I need raw audio. All effects required I need to apply myself during my "mixing" process.

Also, the last thing I would require during your reading that you leave "small breaks" during the reading of each phase. Like so:

Riding the Wave is Skeith, the Shadow of Death, to
drown all that stands.

[small break]

Mirage of Deceit, Innis, Betray all with the flawed
image, and did aid the Wave.

And so on.

Basically, my idea behind the song I'm going to make, that with each part of this fragment, it's going to be changing. So slight pauses before each part describing different phase of the Wave would be appreciated. I hope it's okay with you.

I had put beats after each line.  The recording will be full of beats (pauses), so they'll need to be removed during post.
