Well, that's another game that is a definite buy~ (DQIX has been already a definite one for me for a long time).  DQVIII has impressed me and even though it took some patience, but from the beginning portions (before it felt like it started to drag some bit), Dhoulmagus and after Dhoulmagus and the Dragovian Trials I enjoyed alot . (oh and the exploration and the Puff-Puff Club kick alot of ass.).

Hey guys, looks like Dragon Quest might just be the one series that could appeal to both Western and Eastern markets with Iwata's latest idea to push the series in both markets.

"With the release of Dragon Quest IX, there are two things I'd like to make reality. The first is to build a thriving Japanese game market together with Dragon Quest that rivals the West's. The second is to form a strong tag team to promote Dragon Quest overseas. At Nintendo, we were able to popularize the Brain Age series overseas, which was said to be unmarketable. What I find interesting about this development is the fact that for a good while now, Nintendo has wanted an RPG series that would rival the popularity of DQ in Japan & Final Fantasy worldwide. Now, they have the goose that lays the golden eggs and they seem quite content on making sure it delivers it's best. My, how times change.

And while they may have golden eggs now, I certainly hope this doesn't deter them from delivering on a promised golden sun.

So basically... Nintendo and SE join to make EVEN MORE SHITLOADS of money. This will be most interesting for Square Enix, with their financial future secured... they might move their focus away from FF and try reviving older games and franchises. Unlikely, but I enjoy the dream.
