It appears there are some complications that arose in trying to find a way to crowdfund the games' localization according to TDOMMX's latest post at Schwer and Schwer Alike, but the team's looking for an alternative way to get things going as planned. In the meantime, definitely give their developer diaries a read (entries #1, #2, #3), very insightful stuff to be found.

Incase anyone's interested, here's #4 of the dev diary, including the localized stage select screen and some info on the cast's names.

A bit late, but here's an update with what's going on with the games' official English localization. The team at Darksquid Media have been busy with Canadian Election, a staff member switching between day jobs, and changes going on in TDOMMX's work schedule and responsibilities. So this will be affecting how much time they can put into working on the localization of the RosenkreuzStilette series, but thankfully this hasn't affected things are working out for the localization and their jobs outside of the games' localization does give them some time to think about solutions in case they run into any problems without affecting their momentum.

Things, however, aren't looking bright for Tristan MacAvery, who may know as the voice of Neon Genesis Evangelion's Gendo Ikari, the narrator of Fire Emblem, Diol from Slayers: The Motion Picture, among many others, and lending his talents to voice Count Michael Zeppelin. Now out of respect of his privacy, TDOMMX don't divulge into the specifics of his situation, but it has him feeling pretty depressed. In an earlier blog post from TDOMMX, Tristan drove all the way from Syracuse to their place in Montreal to record his lines for Count Zeppelin and did it pro bono but team at Darksquid Media give him something for helping out. Now I wasn't aware of this, but Tristan MacAvery is also a writer, and a very good one; he has put out a bunch of titles under his real name and a few under his Cheyenne tribal name, Tristan Black Wolf. Tristan has recently started a Patreon to help support his writing career. He also gave TDOMMX an autographed copy of his latest book, The Laputan Factor, as thanks for having him over. The Laputan Factor, going by TDOMMX's word, was something that he couldn't put down once he started reading it. In his words, the story felt like something from the works of Kotaro Uchikoshi, the author of the Infinity series (Never 7, Remember 11, Ever 17, 12 Riven, and Code 18), Zero Escape (Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, and Virtue's Last Reward), Steins;Gate, and Punch Line. If you can help him out, you can pledge as little as $1 though $5 can get you a digital copy of The Laputan Factor (and a free copy of one of his future releases), but feel free donate what you can give him. And for a little fun fact, Martian "Dream & Nightmare" Tessnow, Darksquid Media's German translator, drew the cover art and illustrations for The Laputan Factor, and Tristan was the one that introduced them. Here's a video review from one of Tristan's Patreons of his latest book that TDOMMX shared in the blog post.

You can also read up on the first three chapters of the book for free to give yourself a taste of what it has to offer.

Hello, everyone.

I just popped in to announce that the official English version of Rosenkreuzstilette will be available on Steam and the Playism storefront next week.  I could gush about what the game is like, but I think a trailer would do the job faster.  If you consider yourself an old-school gamer, I can guarantee you're going to love it.

Full-Disclosure:  I'm the lead programmer / graphics editor / localization specialist at Darksquid Media (formerly Darkside Translations).  My crew and I translated the game entirely for free back in 2009.  A few years later, we were scouted to handle the official release of the game and its sequel.  The rest is history.  owob

How much will it cost? It doesn't seem to list that on Steam.

As far as I'm aware, the game will be priced at $9.99 USD.  Steam typically discounts the game by 10% at launch, so you should be able to grab it for $8.99.  That's quite a bit cheaper than DLsite's asking price for the Japanese version of the game.  When I first bought the game years ago, it was around $14.

1. HOW DID I LET MYSELF MISS THIS YESTERDAY?!
2. Can we merge this post with my RKS Thread?
3. I think you messed up posting the video on Rockman PM, so allow Phi to help you get up to speed with the changes here and I'll fix it up for you.
4. I know what I'm getting (early) for my birthday alongside my copy of Mega Man Legacy Collection (3DS).

Seems to be up on Steam now, but I'd rather get it on Playism since you score a DRM-free copy as well as a Steam key.

It's good to support the smaller guys, especially they can kill two birds in one stone.

2. Can we merge this post with my RKS Thread?
I forgot RPM's policy on necroposting; since your thread hadn't been touched in over a year, I erred on the side of caution and started a new one.

Yep.  I wish I'd known that before I bought my Ys & Trails in the Sky games for the fourth time.  That's not an exaggeration; I imported them directly from Falcom, bought 'em on PSP from Xseed, grabbed 'em again on PC through Steam, and again, DRM-free, on GOG.  I never knew that Humble was offering both unbranded DRM-free versions and Steam keys...

Oh, before I forget, I'll just leave this here:

Well, RosenkreuzStilette: Finally bought on Playism after all these years. However, I gave my Steam key to friend out of kindness and I'll have a good excuse to buy it again. I'll definitely give the Story Mode a play to see what the revised localization is like.

Well wouldn't be the first time I've picked up a game multiple times when I can afford them; I've gotten Resident Evil 4 twice on Wii and Steam (Wii edition was a Christmas gift, and Ultimate HD Edition was a little something for the Steam Summer Sale a few years ago), Beat Hazard at least three times (the original and Ultra on XBLIG, again on Steam thank to a Summer Sale, and another for a physical version of vanilla Beat Hazard), twice for RayStorm (one being a phyical copy of its PC port and another for its HD remaster on XBLA), and Mighty No. 9 twice (Wii U being a belated Christmas gift, and bought again during the Steam Sale last year). I'm not sure if the XBLA compilation of the Streets of Rage series counts as having three versions of each game since you have access to three regional versions of Streets of Rage, Streets of Rage 2, and Streets of Rage 3 (the North American, European, and Japanese versions to be exact).

Just finished it today, still a great homage to the Blue Bomber as I remembered all these years ago, and it was also fun to revisit the game with the revised localization, you did a great job with it TDOMMX, the story felt like it had more weight than before and dialogue flowed nicely. Can't wait to sink my teeth into Freudenstachel when it hits Playism.

And on a different note, aside from requesting a merging this to my actual RosenkreuzStilette thread, guess this Mega Man/Mighty No. 9 fan's name in the Special Thanks. :3

Hello, sorry for this years late reply but. I want to ask how can i get this "without" requiring steam ?? I have the original game with the 1.05c version english patched...and i'm more than willing to pay for this again for the 1.06 update originally from the japanese author's site but... I cant get this through steam.

I think i suffer from one of the 1.05c bugs mentioned on the japanese site about "the game will not run in certain enviorments" which was fixed in 1.06 - because sometimes i'll be able to run/open it just fine, but say a week or so later it wont ever run anymore unless i completely reboot my PC... this was fixed in 1.06 i understand, and thats why i wanted the new english version (not japanese)

Why does the "playsim" page just link directly to the steam website at all ?? I thought it could be bought/downloaded seperately there instead as an alternative, this playsim site is completely useless. :(

I wanted to get the actual folder with the game like it was originally...how can i do that, or if there's any other sites to get this from ?? without being forced to have steam or whatever.

I've attempted to comment on the blog where TDOMMX is from, but it always says "cant connect to blogger.com" whenever i try to post... -- all the links from the rosenkreu wikia page i found are all "page not found" ...and his own "contact us" page on his blog is gone too. :( (page not found)
