Also: now that I watched the thing:

1. The town seems really cool. I hope it's as vast and complex as Sakaguchi promised. Cool architecture as well.

2. The music reminds of something. Who's the composer again? I have a guess.

3. Oh boy! Full customization/dressing up! That's gonna be fun. Will clothes affect stats and gameplay somehow?

4. HOLY [tornado fang] IS THAT GANONDORF?

Don't worry, as far as other info has said, each piece of equipment do affects stats, but there is an option (for aethestics reasons of course) where you can put certain parts of 1 equipment (given that it's equipped) invisible and others are visible and the stats won't be affected. You can make ALL of one character's clothing invisble and keep the stats. So expect Birthday Suit Runs

!!! (although, I think it varies from equipment to equipment how many parts of 1 can be altered around). Not sure about cutscenes, aside from changing around stuff for hilarity reasons.

^Seriously, why!? I was so looking forward to buying and playing this game!

I would import if I could but I don't have a hacked Wii... you just got to hate the region lock on systems, what's the point of playing the game you like from a different country if the system to play it locks it out.

Tis a sad day indeed.

Edit: Thinking about it differently, they haven't explicitly denied plans of bringing it over. They just have nothing to say for the here and now, which I guess is par for the course. Still for all, this would be a dumb as [tornado fang]ing [parasitic bomb] maneuver for a game with this pedigree and enthusiasm behind it on all sides if it holds through. I was bummed out with Graces (albeit more Namco's fault there), and Xenoblade's name alone makes me shed a single manly tear, but if Last Story doesn't get a west release, I don't know about anyone else, but I'd rage like no other.

You mean you guys were actually expecting it to be different? When was the last time NoA localized anything interesting that Nintendo itself didn't make?

Start with the idea that it won't come out here, so that if it doesn't your heart won't be crushed as badly, and if it does your joy will be greater.

@tai - Honestly, I'm like that with a lot of releases, but this one seems(ed?) to be the one that could break the "curse" due to pedigree and hype. I'll stay optimistic but guarded from this point forward though.

I understand that, but since Xenoblade, which was [tornado fang]ing announced first at E3 is not even showing any sign of getting localized, I've had absolutely 0 hope for this game. As usual lets hope I'm wrong and we can all play this thing online together without having to learn yet another language.

That news from that site sounds like an overreaction to a simple response from an email by Nintendo.

This makes me sound like i'm in denial, but...that's how it feels to me. Just take it w/ a grain of salt. Last Story isn't out yet in Japan. (not until the 27th anyways)

Somewhere in the back of my head though, I think Nintendo wants to save Last Story, Xenoblade (and dare I also say Dragon Quest X) as announcements for E3'11.
but I think that's just my miracle hope hoping.

It's also curious how Mistwalker's twitter page posts bits of game info in english, but twitter might have an auto-translation system, so I dunno.

Can't say I'm surprised. The only Wii games that sell en mass on this side of thia side of the Pacific are Nintendo's triple-A franchises and minigame compilations.

For the time being, interest lost. I ain't gonna bother with it unless a proper localization's done.

Erza is now Zael,

Sadly so...some changes are odd but others, like Syrenne replacing Seiren is not too bad.

It is odd nonetheless.

Surprised? Maybe this isn’t as much of a surprise as you think. Xseed is owned by Marvelous AQL. AQ Interactive, before they merged with Marvelous, owned Artoon, the developer that worked on The Last Story with Nintendo and Mistwalker. Artoon was later absorbed into the company.

The Last Story will be published in North America later this year. Europe gets it on February 24th.
