Gaming / Ciel no Surge
« on: March 18, 2012, 10:04:52 PM »
Ciel no Surge

Created by GUST, and made currently for the PS Vita, tells the story of where you, the Player, take care of a girl named Ionasol, nicknamed Ion, who has lost her memories and help her restore her by using fairies called "CHAR" to dive into her mind and restore her lost past. It is also a spiritual successor to the Ar Tonelico series.

Ion is a mysterious girl with amnesia. It’s your job to awaken her memories by connecting Ion to terminals and entering her mind. Inside you’ll see a broken world and repair points which you can mend together by using the power of Ciel. Fix these and you can restore Ion’s memories.

The story of Surge Concerto begins with a solar system with a swelling sun. La Ciel’s residents have two plans to deal with this impending crisis. A group (loosely translated as) the Astronomers are developing a plan to teleport residents to another planet. Meanwhile, a Terrestrial group wants to save the solar system by harnessing the power of song magic. Public opinion is split between the two groups and the fate of the world falls on the president-elect… Ionasol.

Ion lives life on a 24 hour clock (this takes place in real time) and she does her own thing depending on the time of day. You will see Ion eat, sleep, and wash up in her daily routine. Ion also has costumes she can change into. First print copies of Ciel no Surge include a PSN code to download clothes and accessories. Ciel no Surge has other planned downloadable content in the future.

Ion’s hair grows as time passes and she gets more talkative too. Players can also change Ion’s clothes and customize her look.

"Players interact with her by selecting choices using the Vita touch screen, and care for her over a period of three years. Ciel no Surge is the first game in the Surge Concerto series, which Gust say will be spread across multiple platforms." ~ quote from Siliconera article

Building a relationship with Ion and talking to her is one of the key parts of the game.

Ciel no Surge is tied to the Vita’s internal clock so Ion’s actions depend on what time it is. Players can talk to Ion and build a relationship with her. The goal of Ciel no Surge is to restore Ion’s memories, which you’ll do in the Dream World. As Ion’s memories are restored through event scenes in this other world the mystery behind La Ciel will unfold. The bond you make with Ion affects the memory restoration process. Ciel no Surge has other characters Ion can interact with when she leaves her house.

"Reminiscent of Ar tonelico, players will dive into Ion’s mind, which is a world of its own. As a symbol of Ion’s broken heart, the dream world is in ruins. Players will have to repair it with the help of a fairy to restore Ion’s memories. She can recall recipes to use in the real world while interacting with the player." ~ quote from Silinocera article

In the beginning of the game, Ion makes friends with three neighborhood kids – Tabo, Plum, and Cass.
Tabo is a boy with red hair and the first person Ion meets. He is the leader of the trio of children in the article and his parents own the general store. Plum is a young boy with blonde hair and glasses. He’s polite and interested in astronomy. Cass is a girl with silver hair from a wealthy family and is described as tsundere. The children can see Terephanken, an imaginary creature that looks like a dragon.

"Ion lives in her own world and when you power on your system she’ll greet you… unless she’s sleeping. Ciel no Surge is tied to a real world clock and if you want you can eat meals with Ion. Ion will ask players what time you can meet her so you can set a dinner date. Ion will cook and as you play the game she learns how to make more meals., but sweets are always her favorite thing to eat. Ion will try to create items on her own, but she often makes mistakes. Players can give her advice and after Ion creates an item she will ask you out on a date.

Dates take place outside of Ion’s tiny home. One of them is on a beach and if you tap the screen you can talk to Ion. Gust plans on releasing additional items as online DLC that trigger date events." ~ quote from Silinocera article

The Player creates fairies, called CHAR, by scanning barcodes using the Vita's camera feature as each barcode makes different kinds of fairies to use with unique hairstyle, outfit, personality, and combination of all of them. Each fairy with their unique personality can interact with each other game's fairy. Players need to use the CHARs to go into Ion's mind to restore her ruins and her memory.

"Ciel no Surge also has a built in Twitter-like system where players can type short messages called micro quasars." ~ quote from Siliconera article

Deluxe "Agent Package" of the game:

Gust will release free and paid downloadable content for Ciel no Surge. Clothes and extra scenarios will cost money while new motions and voices for the communication part will be free. Ciel no Surge comes out on April 26.

There is also online community features as you can look at other player’s profiles through your friend list which shows how much HymP they have. HymP (Hymmnos Points) let players customize fairies in the game called Char. The game has various hairstyles, clothes, and accessories to buy. Some items can only be unlocked using the Micro Quasar system. Everyday, Chars send energy to a server. All of the energy is combined with other players and if there is enough everyone gets a new costume. And the online feature also helps players gain new costumes for each other for Ion to wear.

I had to copy and paste from the various articles as it was a little too much to write down all the information about the game in my own words, and since it's already there I posted it here to make it easier to get the just of it without going into each articles. Sorry about that and all credits go to the people who wrote the articles and got all the information.

Any one excited for this game to come out?

I think this game is right up Vixy's ally! :3
Surprised no one mention this game here yet.

Off The Wall / Looking for a new Modem, which one should I get?
« on: January 04, 2012, 06:46:10 AM »
Hey there! I'm trying to get a new Modem as I want faster connection speed when playing online and I want to know which is the perfect type of Modem to get. I have DSL connection and I'm currently using the Westell Modem (that's what it says on it) and we've had it for like, I think, 6 years give or take. I noticed on my grandfather's computer when my little brother uses it when he goes over to his house he has a Netgear Modem and the connection speed is much faster than ours at home seeing how fast the YouTube videos load.

I talk to one of my old friends and mentions getting a Cisco 1650x Modem for better connection speed, but another person in an online game I'm playing recently stated that Netgear is better to get but I'm not sure.

Which one is better to get and/or is cheaper that goes well with our wireless connection speed? My dad doesn't want to spend $100 for Comcast connection speed monthly so that's why we currently have the DSL connection.

What about you guys? What do you think I should get for a new Modem to enable faster connection speed?

Gaming / Digimon World Re:Digitize
« on: July 23, 2011, 09:31:00 PM »
Since there was no topic about this yet, Digimon World Re:Digitize is a new entry to the Digimon World series for the PSP. The story follows a 14-year old boy who travels through both the Real World and Digital World, and after an incident while riding his moped in the city he finds himself in the Digital World.

Lead Designer/Artist is Suzuhito Yasuda creating the characters of the world, who also has worked on Durarara!! and the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor series.

Re:Digitize will be "returning to the starting point", and Namco Bandai has mention since Digimon World 1 is still praised as the best of the series, and will "inherit certain systems" from the original Digimon World game. The game is being developed by Tri-Crescendo, who has developed Eternal Sonata and Fragile Dreams: Farewell of the Moon.

Here are the news articles:
http://www.siliconera.com/2011/07/18/devil-survivor-and-durarara-artist-tied-to-new-psp-digimon-game/
http://www.siliconera.com/2011/07/20/digimon-world-redigitize-goes-back-to-the-series-starting-point/
http://www.siliconera.com/2011/07/22/whos-developing-digimon-world-redigitize/

Judging by the screenshots, the Protagonist will have only have one Digimon partner just like DW1 and explore a city "just like File City from DW1" and areas like forests and swamps. Since GeoGreymon is in the game it is possible Digimon from up to Digimon Season 5 and latest release Digimon games will be in the game.

Digimon World Re:Digitize is will out for the PSP next year. No word on a US release as of yet.

How was that? I'm normally do write these kind of news bit and I'm not sure if I did a good job. It did get the point across, right?

Off The Wall / How do you make that static scratching sound?
« on: December 19, 2010, 09:41:32 PM »
You know those static scratching noise you hear, like from the .hack game series? I want to know how to make that same noise or something similar to that effect. Here's what I mean in this trailer.

Between 0:21 - 0:25 and 0:31 - 0:34.

How do I make a static noise like that? I like to make it or get a sample of it to use in trailers of my RPG project to give a mysterious feeling to it. Kinda like you're trying to see something on the monitor, but the data gets all fuzzy and static and cannot make out what it is.

I like that I want to have someone like that. Does anyone know?
Also what program can recreate that noise?

It's really great with very interesting characters.

Fan Creations / Mega Man AXL: Zero Era
« on: December 16, 2010, 10:03:45 PM »
This is my Mega Man fanfic I started two years taking place in the ZERO timeline and instead of Zero being the main character it's Axl. This is my take on it.

Summary

In Mega Man ZERO, Ciel discovered the Legendary Reploid Zero to help save the world from Neo Arcadian and Dr. Weil. But what if Ciel didn't discover Zero, but another Reploid instead? A Reploid called Axl.

Chapter 1: The Forgotten Legend
Chatper 2: Axl's Lost Days
Chapter 3: A Battle About My Past
Chapter 4: The Chameleon VS The Hawk
Chapter 5: The Jin'en Army Attacks!
Chapter 6: Underwater Ballet Of The Meikai General
Chapter 7: Phantom of the Factory
Chapter 8: Resistance Base Under Siege
Chapter 9: Infiltration of Neo Arcadian, Axl's Resolve!
Chapter 10: Ultimate Rematch! The 4 Guardians of X!
Final Chapter: Copy Reploid Axl VS Master Copy X!
Epilogue: Keeping Our Promises...

I've fixed on the first chapter on my story, with a big help from my (somewhat) beta reader Aniral-chan, and it came out even better! I'm going back to some of the older chapters to fix a few things and a few character who've kinda went OOC a bit.

So please read them and give me some feedback about it! I love to hear your thoughts about it! Since I'm on a 2 week break from school now, I'll finish working on the last chapters and take some rest before working on Mega Man AXL: Zero Era 2!

Off The Wall / What's the best microphone for voice recording?
« on: December 13, 2010, 03:22:47 PM »
Hey there, I'm looking for the best or a very good quality microphone for voice recording. I plan on doing some voice acting for some game characters and possible for tutorial videos if I ever get around to making them.

I've heard about the truly high quality ones are $1000+ but I don't have that kind of money and was hoping somewhere below $300 or maybe a little bit above it well net me a very good microphone to use on my PC and Laptop.

What do you guys recommended? I'm not sure to go with a dynamic or a condenser microphone, I want to make sure my voice is clear and can be heard without my breathing heard too much (or I'll have to practice not breathing as much when I speak).

Off The Wall / Stuck on Window Vista SP2 Infinite Reboot Loop
« on: September 03, 2010, 05:02:53 PM »
OK, this started today after yesterday where I was downloading the FFXIV Launcher and mention I need to install the stupid Vista SP2 to even install it, I have no idea why. So I install the Vista SP2 and when it was in Stage 1 at 78%, last time I checked and a few seconds later I got this message "Service Pack did not install. Reverting changes. Do not shut off computer." and now I cannot get out of it.

I've been following this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949358

But my dad bought me my laptop with Vista on it a year ago or my birthday and it was pre-install I believe so no disk, but I can't seem to get the System Restore option to appear. I hope the System Restore allows me to restore to tomorrow's date or I can get a disk for my Home Premium to restore it to yesterday or somewhat recent. I didn't backup any of my files and I do not won't to lose any of it! Is there something I'm missing? What do I do in this situation!?

I even entering into Safe Mode gives me the message still!

I'm using a Mac computer to type this at school (I hate these little keyboards). Can you guys please help me?

Posted on: September 03, 2010, 16:28:38
Nevermind guys! I fixed it! I was lucky the school had a Vista Install Disk for me to use!

Thank you anyway for taking a look at my problem.

Off The Wall / I cannot connect to the Internet
« on: August 11, 2010, 05:38:25 AM »
Well I am right now, but I'm using someone else's Network to connect online right now. But a few days ago I lost connection to my Desktop and Laptop and I haven't gotten it back since.

I don't know what happened, but I like to know how to fix this.

It says I'm connected but there's no Internet connection. The Network I'm usually using with best connection speed no longer works for me and the one I'm using has very poor connection speed. I like to get some help to solve this problem, I use a wireless connection (DSL).

Please someone help me, I don't know how to fix this problem even when though I have my DSL connect correctly and checked my Network Settings.

« on: July 29, 2010, 07:29:57 PM »

Problem is that I don't know where to start, so I did a little research on finding good components to best a great Gaming Desktop as I like to play online games and have great performance overall for my computer needs. I like to get your opinions, advice, and recommendations on what I should get.

So this what I got so far:

As you can see I still need a little help in some areas, like getting the right Power Supply for my computer. So it's going to take a few months until I get my desired Desktop Gaming Computer.

EDIT: OK, I've updated my list as I've searched around some more to find cheaper parts to use to build my own computer. I'm still need help in some areas. What do you guys suggest?

EDIT EDIT: Updated again.

Build 2 Current Price: $890.85 (this is the one with Athenatech A605BR.450 Black / Red Steel ATX selected)

Just got to figure out the Sound and Ethernet Cards and I'm done! I wished it wasn't so much to get the parts from Neweggs.com!

ZX / The Official English Mega Man ZX manga
« on: May 26, 2010, 11:43:07 PM »
OK, this manga was suppose to come out March 29th, then it was pushed back to April 28th and then last time for May 7th (IIRC) and it still hasn't hit stores yet and it's near the end of the month. The second volume is due July 2010 soon so the first volume should be out soon, but it's being delayed.

Does anyone know any news of why it hasn't been released yet and is there anyone who's going to buy this when it comes out? I've pre-order and waiting patiently for this to come out, but I haven't anything about it as of late.

This is a preview of it since March:

General / Is this some kind of cruel joke?
« on: April 16, 2009, 12:53:05 PM »
Today on the morning of Thursday April 16, 2009 someone vandalized my SUV apparently between the time frame of 2:03am to 6:23 the time I went to sleep and woke up at.

The complete back end of the car is busted up so I an unable to go to College and have to inform my teacher about it. And I can't miss a single one of my Programming as it will be difficult to pass his class.

Also it seems that someone is saying that there was a bomb at the top of our street of some sort? Don't know what that was about, but the bomb is gone and nothing about it happen.

What's strange is that the alarm didn't go off or anything so none of my family knew except my mom who went outside as today she had to bring my little brother to school early today.

To me this doesn't seem like any "random car attack" and I think that my SUV was specifically attacked. My mom might think that a boy that my sister knows did it as she said to my sister this morning that he doesn't like my mom (as she trying to protect my sister from doing something stupid) and did this to get back at her.

I did know if he did it or not, but if I find the punk who did this I'm going to smash his head in. Today's the College Video Game Day so I can challenge my friends on Brawl and I need to ask my classmates about the information I've collected for them for our project if it was correct and enough data to use.

There goes my Thursday today... thank you jack***.

Entertainment / Anyone know any good Voice Editing Recording programs?
« on: April 07, 2009, 11:30:18 PM »
I'm not entire sure where I should post this topic, but this spot seems like a good place.

Any who, I'm wondering if there's any good Voice Changing/Editing Recording programs at there that I can find? Sound Recorder on my PC lacks a lot of options to mess around with to create different types of voices for characters I like to voice for my RPG project.

I do have Audacity, but not what I'm really looking for (unless I'm unaware of its true potential!). If anyone knows such a program, please let me know and sorry if this question has been asked before.
