Fair enough, but I don't think the games' placements are truly set in stone. Each one has a logical spot due to the advancements (like you mentioned), but plot-wise, it doesn't work.

Before this gets too confusing, I'll just say that they're in their own continuities, but a part of the same canon. If that makes any sense. Until a main series game comes out and directly references these happenings, I still consider them different entities (for the most part). There are some that fit in without any disagreements, but with a whole mini-series it's all or nothing.

That was just a reference to Capcom Europe's views on it all. I think they do have it worse over there, but currently, Capcom has killed Mega Man everywhere.

Don't the fans do that? Oh right, Capcom Europe. -AC

Anyways, Legends 3 would be a very unorthodox sequel in the amount of time that has past since the last game. More fans have had the chance to see it, and its definately gained interest after the internet. All-in-all judging sales by something so outdated isn't very accurate. Which is why the prototype version is was such a good idea.

I believe you in that department, using logic, you may very well be able to find a place for all of them. But my point is that Capcom can technically put it where they want. Using the Power Fighters logic, it could just as well take place after 6 (plots of main series games are ignored).

I blame that on poor promotion... if anyone can tell Mega Man really isn't high on Capcom Europe's priorities.

That puts it in a general timeframe, but that's it. It never said exactly when Mega Man V took place; with the Mega Arm, Tango, and P-Chips, your guess is as good as mine. Again, I'll just take Capcom's word that it's canon and leave it at that. I don't think we were meant to try to fill in the blanks.

It's tough to say with the Cheetah Men comparisson. The game's only limited to NES collectors, since it was technically unreleased. Despite its rarity, many gamers want it purely to say they have a complete set. That being said Legends is an uncommon game, but I'd be willing to bet that it has more to do with it being a standout title. Just like a lot of Super NES games that sold well actually go for surprisingly high prices just because they're so coveted.

Isn't that just what the Game Boy series is? It was based on what was given far, but didn't quite intertwine with the main series. Essentially, they're both in their own continuity. The only one that really fits is Dr. Wily's Revenge. For obvious reasons.

Couldn't the parallel word idea apply to the Rockman World games? The arcade games are still canon without being too connected to the main plot. Besides, we'd only be assuming if we went out of our way to tie them together. I guess the alternate world idea is that "they happened, but it doesn't really make sense." Which ironically, the arcade games WOULD fit in with the main series (for the most part).

The 100,000 plan may not go as planned, but it's something, and it's definately getting attention. The thing is, fans don't really know what to do right now, it all set in so quickly. This plan seemed like the most plausible.

Now, I'm just going to throw this out there, but if Capcom decided to restart the project, it would be one great publicity stunt. Enough people were excited by the fact that theyr'e reviving a long dead series, but it became even more famous after the cancellation itself, and all the negative feelings.

Basically, Capcom's way of saying "sorry, we [tornado fang]'d up."

Though honestly, that's good news on its own, since it was my first Mega Man game (possibly video game), and it hasn't lost its touch. But I'm biased. :D
That's probably worthy of its own thread, and though extremely overdue, the Game Boy games will always be welcome. Still not enough for me to buy a 3DS like Legends would be, but it's good to know it's there.

well.... it`s been a while since my last post,
but this is necessary......
so..... they killed rd3...for some reason...that was expected...think about it, not only capcom.....in the last time game companys are fueled only for monetary interest
for example... after 12 years duke nukem forever was released...but  as a game... it was just another fps....
games today are only graphics it seem that developers don`t  care no more for real quality
it`s a sahme don`t you think?
It's always how the industry operated; ripoffs and gimmicks to make a quick buck. Sega Genesis dominated the NES because it had 16-bit graphics, but the NES probably has one of the best gaming libraries regardless. And after Super Mario Bros. 3, everyone tried to make a game like it.

Again there was a lot (if not the same amount) of crap back then as there is today. the only difference is that old crap has nostalgia going for it.

Alright, I'll take your word on that one, thanks. Though Rockman World 2 seems out of place, since isn't Dr. Wily expected to be dead at that time?

Anyone know where I can find an official timeline for the classic series? I've heard it exists somewhere, but basic searches only bring up wiki pages. Can anyone help?

Proto Man was just rushed in 9. When did he ever slide? It's just a shortcut. The shield thing was probably just to make it more challenging, but it just isn't what we're used to. If they actually took some time to make Proto Man and perfect his moves, it would be a lot smoother. On top of that, everyone's been wondering where Mega Man's moves have been. Though I support a variety in the store, the Mega Buster and Slide should be there from the beginning, no exceptions.

How about the Balloon and Wire? Those weren't really necessary, but they made some spots easier. Although they were hidden, you could just as easily have them as store items.

And the P-Chip system worked great, as with everything else in Mega Man IV and V.

Mega Man may never return to his console greatness... but a 3DS release would be a step in the right direction. (Mega Man Mania would be nice, too)

I liked the look in general of Mega Man Universe. The Mega Man model they chose just didn't look that good, though. He looked too stretchy. Of course, Mega Man: PU had its own short stint, I'm glad that style didn't carry over...

In the past, I agree with his Mega Man 7 and 8 upgrades. They touched on both ends of the spectrum; Mega Man 7 looked more flat and cartoon-y (carrying over from the NES style), and Mega Man 8's had more dimension to it. We really haven't seen a great, modern Mega Man yet.

I could stand another 8-bit game, but it'd have to be done right. Not that the others weren't but the series is barely going anywhere. The reason the series slowed down after 8 was that people were getting tired of it. Again, Capcom's afraid to go out of their comfort zone and add something truly different (or let us slide/charge). Though a 16-bit game wouldn't be bad.

As for other series... I think X deserves another outing. It can really go anywhere. Making the first game in 2D wouldn't be bad, but I think that series is destined to go to 3D at some point.

Honestly, you jump and shoot. This is the original Mega Man series, and two buttons is enough. The PlayStation controller has a couple to spare.

Well, to me, it was hard adjusting at first; Mega Man was made for an NES controller, and any other controller seems like too much.

After the cancellation of Legends 3, I'm beginning to wonder about the main series. Mega Man Universe was just a fun sidegame, and I wasn't really impacted when that was canned, but Legends 3 was going to be a truly modern sequel, and that being cancelled made me think Capcom just doesn't really have a place for Mega Man at this time.

To me, Mega Man 9 and 10 were nice placeholders until we could get a modern game (establishing the simplistic routes that made the originals such a hit), but it seems now that they only wanted to create a short novelty of making 8-bit games, and then abandoning the series again.

To cap it off, Capcom has come a long way in the 3D realm. They can turn out hit after hit, but it's almost like they respect the original Mega Man too much to bring him into 3D. Which I can somewhat understand, I don't know how you'd retain all the fast-paced action, but for now, we're left to wonder...

Yeah it's that ridged plastic where when you look at it from the right angle, Mega Man and the robot masters pop out.
