X / Re: X's characterization
« on: June 05, 2012, 07:09:51 AM »
They werent "revived", they were copied. the rematches in Eastern MH HQ are New Generation Reploids copying them. Though your idea still stands. since he defeated them, he was able to snag DNA samples. I mean, they apparently did something with em, considering latecomer Axl still gets DNA for Jango, Silverhorn, and Psyche and such. (and this is considering the fact that X doesnt obtain Special weapons this game)

another purpose is really just that in that way, he could gain X's trust and join his group to keep tabs on him. he was spying on them in first person. Would be mighty odd of the Maverick Hunter Colonel to suddenly appear in Giga City to join X and crew. This way he can play off some small backstory and pretend to be a new addition to the group.

Keep in mind Command Mission came out before X8. X8 was still in production when it came out, as evidenced by the unlockable X8 demo. So they probably didnt have all of the X8 story fully mapped out yet. so CM is the first usage of New Generation Reploids.

I see.  But there are several parts that supported X's conjecture of Wild Jango being Wild Jango instead of another Shang Tsung-like reploid.

1.  The way that of the rest of X's Hunter comrades addressed their respective bosses at Far East HQ during chapter 10:

Massimo to Silver Horn:

"You Rat, Silver Horn!!  Even you're here?!"

"I'm not weak like before!  Now I ... am Steel Massimo!!  Prepare yourself, Silver Horn!!"

Marino and Cinnamon to Mad Nautilus:

Marino -

"Well, well!  Who'd think that we'd meet you again?"

"Dr. Psyche!  We're sending you back to where you belong!"

Cinnamon -

"And I'm not just a helpless little girl anymore!"

Axl to Mach Jentra:

"Him again?  He really doesn't give up, does he?"

"You sure you don't need the help of your Mechanoloid hordes?  Here goes nothing!"

Zero to Incentas:

"You!  Hmph!  Very well..."

"You owe us more than you could know!  And payment is due, right here and now!  Face your fate!"

These quotes from the show that the Hunters acknowledge that the bosses from chapter 10 are indeed the real things and no one else becoming them, especially Axl's pre-battle quotes to Jentra.  X already acknowledged Wild Jango's appearance as the real thing earlier in chapter 10 after Jango was destroyed again.

2.  Mach Jentra was able to summon Preons in chapter 10, despite the fact that Epsilon and the Rebellion were destroyed in chapter 9.  The Preons were Preon Shielder, Preon Soldier, and Preon Tank, just like in chapter 5.  Who else can summon Preons easily like Jentra and Duboar?

3.  When the bosses are destroyed, they do not change form like the copied bosses at Gateway did in Mega Man X8.  The bosses die as they way they are shown.

X / Mega Man X Command Mission Oil Can Poll
« on: June 02, 2012, 07:56:48 AM »
I read about the Oil Can subweapon a few times in GameFAQs.com several years back.  However, not much other discussion forums brought it up lately.  I used it before in several of my previous videos.

I eventually decided to try and test it out some more.  After doing so, it made my wonder why it is not appreciated or talked about compared to other subweapons, or just about anything Command Mission related.

That being said, do you know about the weapon?  If so, have you used it?

For those who don't know about what the Oil Can is or what it can be capable of, click on the following link:

X / Re: X's characterization
« on: June 02, 2012, 07:48:24 AM »
My question wasn't really "what was the point of Spider's betrayal" but rather "what was the point of Spider being Repids"? I'll admit it's pretty clever, factoring in the New Generation reploids from X8 into the plot, but it felt like there wasn't enough build up to it, it happened way too late into the game, and it just didn't feel right. I got the impression that Spider was being developed into his own character for the grand duration of the game, getting the players invested into the character, only to be wasted with that whiplash of a plot twist. It feels like a misplaced plot twist relative to the game itself.

I think one reason that Redips was using his Spider persona aside from getting the Supra Force Metal is to gain more allies for his cause.

Two ways he did so was this:

1.  Using public TV to gain supporters by falsely accusing X and his allies of joining the Rebellion, even with the death of Epsilon and the end of the Rebellion already known among Giga City.

2.  Spider's battles against the main chapter 2-6 bosses.  As a result, Wild Jango, Silver Horn, Mad Nautilus, Mach Jentra, and Incentas were revived and seemed to be on the side of Redips/Spider, despite suffering some behavioral problems.

X / Re: Shadow is an incarnation of Double?
« on: June 02, 2012, 07:31:38 AM »
I'll give Shadow props for one thing that he has over the Rebellion Cadre (Botos, Ferham, Scarface, and Epsilon).  Shadow has Codebreaker.  Botos, Ferham, Scarface, and Epsilon do not have that deadly move (unless you count Epsilon's Preon Counterpart having the move of course.)

Speaking of Spider, didn't his reveal to be Repids feel like it made no sense? Maybe it's me, but it seems like the writers for the X games have this massive hard-on for traitors and whatnot. Problem is it never builds up to anything. It's always a one-off that just happens for the hell of it, and is then quickly forgotten.

As far as Spider goes, to add on what Flame said, consider the following:

1.  Every time Spider said "I did not do that for you", he meant every word of it.

2.  Spider started off bad, then good, and acted strange every now and then.

3.  Wild Jango, Silver Horn, Mad Nautilus, Mach Jentra, and Incentas were bosses who Spider fought with the Hunters.  Ironically, they seemed to be revived and ended up fighting for Spider/Redips near the end.  Each of the respective bosses had their respective hunters acknowledging their revival and existence through the pre-fight dialouges.  For those who don't know what I am talking about, here is the breakdown of which hunter had dialogue acknowledging the revived boss:

X - Wild Jango

Massimo - Silver Horn

Marino and Cinnamon - Mad Nautilus

Axl - Mach Jentra (especially this one considering what Axl suppossedly said about Jango)

Zero - Incentas

X / Re: X's characterization
« on: May 22, 2012, 06:15:41 AM »
I like both characterizations, but I like X as a pacifist who does not like fighting.  Although X7 did take it a bit far, I did like the way X7 showed X's reluctance in fighting.  Once something or someone is destroyed, there is really no turning back and one has to move on.  I can relate to X on that level.  In terms of how one approaches aversion to violence, X is not Iori Yagami for crying out loud.

X / Give a non-Command Mission enemy Command Mission moves and stats
« on: April 02, 2012, 12:10:27 AM »
As the topic says, give any enemy who is not in Megaman X Command Mission techniques seen in Command Mission.  You can also add in signature moves or new moves.  You can also modify the movelist of any Command Mission enemy.  Just be sure to abide by the following rules:

- The level can be no higher than level 99.

- Specify character type (e.g., "Mechanoloid", "Human", "Beast", "Mettaur", "Boss", etc.)

- Specify if the character is an "air" or "ground" enemy.

- Specify the percentage of resistance against elements of Fire, Water, and Thunder

(Lower percentage = higher resistance; higher percentage = weakness; no effect = 0 damage; absorb = heals life from elemental attack)

- Specify any item(s) that can be stolen from enemy and percentage to steal them

- Specify any item(s) dropped from beating enemy (you may specify the items' properties after the boss descriptions)

 - Specify any amount of Zenny (money), Force Metal Energy (FME), and Experienced earned from beating the enemy

- The strength numbers can go up to 500.

- The armor numbers (C-attack resistance) can go up to 200.

- The shield numbers (S-attack resistance) can go up to 200.

- The speed can go up to 150.

- The Life Energy (LE) can go no higher than 250,000.

- Specify the attack type (S = Shot, C = Combat), damage extent (weak, moderate, strong, deadly, etc.), elemental properties (if any), and other attack properties of any attack.

- If an attack causes ailments, specify the probability it causes something (e.g., 75% for virus, 25% for DOA, etc.)

- Auto-repair (healing during character's turn) abilities can be no higher than 50% of the characters' current LE should this function be used.

- Life Gain MAX and All Life Gain MAX can only be done once during the entire battle.

- Specify any innate boosts characters and/or new moves may gain when certain conditions are met.

- If you need help on which moves to use, refer to the "Beastiary" or "Enemy Skill Guide" guides found here

I might need to update the rules sometimes, but just ask any questions if you need help.  You may ask on what a move does or ask suggestions on what moves to use.

That said, I'll do one right now.

Sigma (the real one in X8 with the demon look and big green Sigma Blade.)

Level - 90

Type - Boss

Type - Ground

Fire = 100%, Water = 100%, Thunder = 100%

LE - 100,000

Strength - 200

Armor - 100

Shield - 100

Speed - 100

Steal - Gain Hyper (50%), Build Hyper (25%)

Drop - Super Absorber (100%), Power Charge (100%)

Zenny - 25,000

FME - 50,000

Experience - 75,000

Attacks - Sword dive attack; Ground Sword Attack; Energy Rings; Ultra Giga Fire; Ultra Giga Blizzard; Ultra Giga Thunder; Tera Fire; Tera Blizzard; Tera Thunder; Energy Charge; Dark Energy Wave; Energy Sword Slam; Eye Laser; Power Virus; Telekinetic face smash; Codebreaker; Deep Impact;

Attacks done at any time:

Sword dive attack, ground sword attack - C-type regular sword attacks that do moderate damage

Energy rings - S-type regular ring attack in which each ring causes moderate damage; 3 rings can target 1, 2 rings can target 1 and 1 ring can target another, each rings targets each character

Ultra Giga [Fire, Blizzard, Thunder] - S-type elemental attack which does moderately high damage to each opponent

Power Virus - An S-type attack that does no damage, but has a 65 percent chance of putting each opponent in Virus status

Attacks gained when at 75,000 LE or less:

Tera [Fire, Blizzard, Thunder] - S-type elemental attack which does very high damage to one opponent

Eye laser - S-type eye laser attack which does high damage to each opponent

Energy charge - Charges for Dark Energy Wave or Energy Sword Slam which can be used in Sigma's next turn; 5,000 damage must be dealt to him in order to cancel the next attack

Dark Energy Wave - S-type purple wave attack that does extremely high damage to all opponents; ignores defense

Energy Sword Slam - C-type energy sword projectile attack that does extremely high damage to all opponents; ignores defense

Telekinetic face smash - An unavoidable C-type telekinetic face smash attack and throw which cuts Sigma's power down 50%, but ignores the opponent's defense and armor

Codebreaker - A C-type regular attack that may instantly kill one opponent; chances of DOA = 55%.

Attacks gained when at 50,000 LE or less:

Deep Impact - A C-type sword that attacks one opponent and ignores the opponents armor; may also be an S-type single ring attack that attacks one opponent and ignores shield.  There are no decreases in strength numbers during this attack.

Okay, I hope that we can get this thread going.  I made the rules as they are because the enemies can be strong, but should at least be beatable in the interest of fairness.

My inner Megaman and Madonna fanboyism made me make a topic like this.

If anyone does not know who Madonna is, she is a singer who reinvents herself, gains different fans through her various albums, and does not really care about what people think about her. I feel that the Megaman games portray similar characteristics.

Does anyone feel the same way or think differently?

Okay, since the thread is about High Max right now, I want to ask a question.  Between High Max and Sigma, who is the harder boss?

36
I had this video in my YouTube channel for quite a while, but I decided to use this thread to promote it because not many YouTube users made a video like this and it shows my love for a certain character.  I also used this stage for learning how to perfect a very special technique.  I let the other playable characters join in on the action through final strikes to make the zenny earning more exciting and worth it.  Enjoy the video.

As far as Megaman X8's soundtrack goes, I really like it because it sounds excellent.  Me loving rock and metal music makes the soundtrack more meaningful.  I like Real Sigma's theme, Lumine's second form boss song, Paradise Lost, Jakob, Vile's boss theme , Angry Boss, and the ride armor theme at Pandamonium's stage the most.

Yeti's stage is worse, it has a bunch of crappy ways to die, and you NEED both characters to survive if you want that armor piece (Zero and X)

why do you have to get killed for touching a wall? why cant they just move you over a bit when you hit it? (like when the Stingray ship appears the 2nd time)

Finally someone besides me who says that Yeti's stage is harder than Manowar's.  I can beat Manowar's as long as I have weapon chips equipped and it is very short (I usually beat it in less than a minute.)  For Yeti's stage on Hard, I had to use X and Alia because the shot ranges of Zero, Layer, Axl, and Pallette were too close.  X and Alia were versatile for having regular and charged shots.  I did not have a problem with dodging the obstacles though.

Quote
Actually that started in X7, though its easy to forget since nobody plays that.

Actually, I still play Megaman X7.

Quote
That is however something I am against. Mainly because the usual point of how X works is that he has little mobility, and requires his armors in order to gain extra mobility like the air dash. Having it from the start makes the leg parts obsolete without giving them better more creative functions, which X7 and 8 sort of failed at, since the glide was all sorts of stupid and giving you a shadow dash dont quite cut it.

I'll admit that the glide ability was not too useful, but it was effective against Ride Boarski's fierce ram attack at Crimson Palace on Hard, especially when he does it four times in a row while Boarski's health is low.

The Shadow Dash from X8 is definitely useless against physical contact, grounded attacks (e.g., Antonion's blocks or Trilobyte's Crystal Wall), and attacks from swords (e.g., Sigma's sword attacks).  However, it does help against projectile attacks and I can hold the dash button to make the invincibility last a little longer since X's dash is quite good.  Of course the timing is everything (which I am also good at doing.)

Quote
I'm not even really sure what X8's leg parts do (I thought Shadow Dash was part of the Ultimate Armor.) so I can't really comment on that.

Foot Parts I allows X to jump higher.  It is a double-edged sword, but I managed it by tapping the jump button softly to jump lower or pressing the jump button harder to jump higher.

Foot Parts H allows X to move faster and have the "invincible" shadow dash (the shadow dash which I just discussed in this post as well.)

Foot Parts U (part of the Ultimate Armor) has all of the abilities of Foot Parts I and Foots Parts H.

DASH / Re: If Capcom outsources the next Legends game...
« on: February 25, 2012, 05:48:13 PM »
Like that'll happen.

If you are talking about the possibility of a new Legends game, I might agree with you.  However, there might be a possibility that Capcom decides to make another Legends game all of a sudden.  I brought up the question because of the way Capcom has outsourced development duties of some games as cost cutting measures.

Some examples include the following:

Dimps contributed in developing the Street Fighter IV games.

Eighting helped developed the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 games.

Inti Creates developed Megaman 9, 10, all of the Zero games, and both of the ZX games.

CyberConnect2 helped develop Asura's Wrath.

Capcom could keep development duties for itself, but the costs might be quite high.

DASH / If Capcom outsources the next Legends game...
« on: February 25, 2012, 07:24:39 AM »
I asked this back at Legends Station, but I might as well ask it here.  If Capcom decided to outsource the next Megaman game like they did with their other games, which company should develop the next Megaman Legends game?  This includes Legends 3.

I normally respect Guiness, but this is just ridiculous.  Call of Duty:  Black Ops is fine as a game, but I don't really see it as a single-player experience.

X / Re: Should Zero Have Returned in X2?
« on: February 22, 2012, 04:19:05 AM »
So it this just fixes a bunch of stuff that was wrong/broken, you'd be satisfied with some welcome retconning/remaking?

Yes.  I am an open person.  I just respect things for what they are.

If Zero becomes more popular with the fans and more significant than X in story, I'll live with it and just play the games.  I'll do the same when it is the other way around.

If I like, dislike, or become impartial to something, I'll keep it real everytime.

Edit:  Removed something that I already said.

I think that Zero earned his spot in X2.  Both X and Zero are great.  Period.

Trying to change what is already established might not go well with many fans.  As for me, I don't really care what happens as long as I am satisfied in the end.

X / Re: What are your opinions on Massimo, Marino, and Cinnamon?
« on: February 11, 2012, 08:13:50 AM »
Thanks for the replies everyone.  Here are my feelings for each character:

Massimo:

- I like his reploid manliness
- Very lethal when his ATs level up, especially with Shock Lance B, Interceptor, and Beast Lancer equipped
- Elemental weaknesses, slow speed, and only 2 FM slots hamper his abilities
- Decent Hyper
- Great in almost every other department

Marino:

- I love her for being a hot female ninja reploid inside and out
- Low health, and defense numbers are fair at best
- Health and defense issues can be fixed with her decent FM erosion resistance and slot amount (LE+ 1000 works real well on her)
- Very versatile weapon selection (muti-hit combat attacks is her specialty, Vengeful Needles suck IMO)
- Very versatile AT (I use "I'll Take That!" and "Mirage Dive" the most)
- Potentially Broken Quicksilver Hyper Mode, especially with Cutting Edge equipped and a few Build Hypers used on her (I use at least 2 for Marino)

Cinnamon:

- I like her as a cute girl with a smooth attitude and a will to fight when necessary
- Initially weak at first because of low level and initial weapon selections fair at best
- True powers shown when her level is equal to the other characters and when at level 30
- Great FM slots, FM erosion resistance, elemental resistance, defense numbers and AT make her a dependable character
- Iron Maiden really helps Cinnamon and her allies a lot
- 0 Effector can give a huge FU to Depth Dragoon and his boost happy moves
- Kitty Gloves is lethal with decent damage output and no weight restrictions, 'nuff said

The reason why I made this thread is because most of the Command Mission videos on YouTube from other users that I watch usually involves X, Zero, and Axl.  I also did not like that Massimo, Marino, and Cinnamon were completely disregarded for the ending.  I am real happy and appreciate that Massimo, Marino, and Cinnamon are getting a lot of love and respect from this Megaman fan site.

I am appreciating Madonna even more for performing Like a Prayer at the Super Bowl Halftime Show after what happened to her commercial of the song 12 years ago.  Probably a potential payback against Pepsi, courtesy of Madonna and the NFL Super Bowl.

I didn't see much Command Mission related theads, so I decided to do this thread.  That being said, what are your opinions about Massimo, Marino, and Cinnamon character-wise and gameplay-wise?

Normally, I'd input my opinions in the first post like I did in other Megaman forums when I made threads similar to this one, but I'll let other posters post opinions first this time.

Regardless of the timing and what Capcom's intentions are right now, I'll admit that I like BBA Megaman.  Although the stomach got a little overdone, his moves and appearance is still cool to me.

As lazy as the armor was, the Neutral Armor is my favorite armor for X.  It started off with me loving the white shoes of X in the Neutral Armor when I first saw a picture of him.  Then the functions of the various parts really got me liking the armor even more.  The Icarus and Hermes variants made the Neutral Armor even cooler, although the coloring of Ultimate Armor was fair at best IMO.  Finally, the Neutral Armor made X slightly resemble Casshern (I like Casshern too, BTW.)  X in the Neutral Armor is probably the major factor that made me like Megaman X8 a lot.

X / Re: Theory: Dr. Light Studied Duo to Create X
« on: January 17, 2012, 07:00:21 AM »
I think it's easier to see X's hand attack as a blatant homage to the Shining Finger, especially when considering the VA for X also did Domon and the VA for Sigma also did Master Asia.

To add on to what Sato already said about the voices, here is something about Sigma's English voice.  Although the voice actor for Master Asia's English voice (Dave Pettitt) also performed Sigma's English voice in Megaman X8, he was not Sigma's English voice actor in Megaman Maverick Hunter X/The Day of Sigma.  in Megaman Maverick Hunter X/The Day of Sigma, Gerald Matthews is the English voice actor for Sigma.  I don't recall Gerald Matthews ever doing voice work as Master Asia.

However, I will not deny X's hand attack being similar to the Shining Finger.  If X had the ability to merge himself with a bigger mechanical body like Sigma or Megaman Juno did, and also retained the glowing hand attack, it is going to be real similar to the Gundam version and will probably hurt an opponent a lot too.

X7 is a blurry mish-mash of [parasitic bomb] to me. I remember Gungaroo's stage with the Ride Armor, Ride Boarski's bad Cheval stage, Wind Crowrang's airship, that burning battleship stage, the cyberspace stage, and really boring music.

I agree with you on Boarski's stage being quite bad.

I am so-so with the cyberspace stage.  The right-side up parts work fine, but the inverted portions were confusing when I first dealt with it.

But I disagree on everything else, especially the boring music part.  While the X7 soundtrack is not one of the ideal soundtracks ever, it has some great songs like the Crimson Palace theme, Red's theme, both of Sigma's themes, and the ending credits song, among a few others.
