Challenge Mode / Re: Escape from area M
« on: January 22, 2009, 10:54:36 PM »
Been there, done that, you'll need to Rock On once outside A-4 cavern (wall is too high to jump on).

Doable...now beat the game while holding your DS upside down.

lol, 24 full hours from the first switching "ON" the console, any pauses (like eating, taking a whiz and whatnot) are included into the 24 hour period.

-Elpis

Plain and simple, how many games can you beat in a 24 hour period.
(going only for platformer games, obviously)

My results from last year:
(from first to last)
Rockman, RM2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, &Forte(as Forte), W1, W2, W3, W4, W5, X1, X2, X4, X5, Zero1 and ZX.

Now, my X3 (AC for Gamecube) glitched up twice (first before Crawfish then again after the Neon Tiger midboss..)
so I dropped it, and by Z1 and ZX I was so tired I decided to take a nap. (20 hours straight)

This weekend, I intend to break my previous record by at least 4 titles (Z2~4, ZXA) and maybe throwing in Xtreme
1 and 2 (since they're both 20 minute games) aswell as the latter part of the X series(and X3).

But enough about me, how many RM games have you beaten in a day?

People voted for me O_O yes! 2 people voted for me as biggest lamer! so I'm still annoying enough to bother people XD

Flamboyant was excepected, and my Avatar IS smashing, no real surprise there...but smartest? LOL.

I'm still surprised I got mentioned tho, didn't think I was active enough for that >.>
(Then again, I had no idea there was an awards-thingy, pretty good evidence of my inactivity...)

Original / Re: JEWEL SATELITE IS THE BEST SHIELD WEAPON EVER!
« on: December 18, 2008, 01:08:24 AM »
Now THAT is a point worth considering, I feel stupid for not using it in IHX more, save for getting the Hadouken easy.

The Shield Boomerang does have that quality too tho, and even helps in aiding the speed in wich regular attacks can be performed, wich is so unimaginably useful in Zero1 (I would never have gotten sub27 minutes on hard without it.), oh, and it reflects bullets that deal pity ass damage, but still enough to be of use (see Zero 2, Kuwagust's Mission).

What Rolling Shield does deserve props for is that it absorbs bullets while being a projectile weapon, not sure about IHX's, but I'm pretty sure that no other projectile weapon has that trait (at least not the way uncharged Rolling Shield has.)

At any rate, Jewel Satellite is the best shield weapon in the classic series, but thinking about it over all series, it does seem to be 1-upped by IHX's Rolling Shield and the Shield Boomerang, I'm putting Shield Boomerang on first place, seeing as how it's has the pro of be able to deal good damage to a more wide variety of bosses (even more so on Hard).

X / Re: Favorite Sigma
« on: December 18, 2008, 12:56:46 AM »
X1's sigma why? because of the smirk he has when he wall jumps, because of the freaky sound you hear when he beams up his saber, because he's one of the few, if not the only mildly challenging stationary boss.

Didn't like X2's sigma, tho I completely drooled over that he was using Electric spark, X3 was just downrigth atrocious...X4 was...tripping, not really my taste, tho the Laser Scythe was pure win. X5's...liked the purple mantle, liked the RMW4 Wily Machine reference, but other than that...no, X6...was just outright scary, he still gives me the creeps when he laughs after his first body is destroyed...X7 was too colorful and nuts, but the second form was epic, one of the more impressive final battles imo...X8 was just satanic, but not too special, getting his sword was a treat tho. Oh, and before I forget, Soul Eraser's Sigma, his second form was quite impressive, and one of the few sigma's with a OHKO (I think.), still none of them has something on the first ^^.

X / Re: Your Favorite Bosstune
« on: December 18, 2008, 12:45:41 AM »
I chose X4, mainly due to Frost Walrus stage music.  It has always been stuck in my mind, no matter what I'm doing.

After that, I choose X7, the music is awesome, one of the main reasons why I play it anymore.

But, Frost Walrus themes aren't boss music, now are they :P (They are awesome nonetheless.)

Anyways, this choice would have been easier if it were just about the regular battle music, but whatever, X5 Irregular hunt, paired with the remixes of Wily Battle, Fortress Battle (X1) and Sigma's Final battle is unequaled.

X1 is second best, seeing how those battles are all good, I've recently been listening alot to the Fortress Battle, it has that sweet insane charm. X4 is third, seeing as it has the darkest and most evil sigma battles, not to mention the emotional Iris theme and scrambled Double theme, that one's deliciously nuts.

X3 is probably my least favorite in terms of boss battle themes, I only enjoy Doppler Battle SFC version and Final Battle PSX version...I actually put IHX above it, despite it's raping of the Boss, Fortress and Sigma 1 battles...that Sigma battle 2 is just so deliciously divine.

46'07 or something, given that I was drunk, stoned AND tired, I don't think that is a bad 2nd playthrough without outside information. oh and I got 46% (lol) in two playthroughs...alot of the challenges seem tedious tho, yeah, I'm not going for them.

I'd play it more if I had a Wii, it sucks when you have to go over to a mildly annoying friend to play it (it's worth it, but still...), also, wow, almost sub21 time on MM9, I'd like to see THAT.

Rockman Series / Re: Underrated BGMs and Songs
« on: December 15, 2008, 11:09:10 PM »
Top Man (i assume the song is underrated cause he's hated so much for some reason)

Spike Rosered

TopMan is hated? I had no idea >.< his weapon is awesome, his stage is awesome, his music is awesome, as for TopMan himself, he's fun, easy, but still fun.

Spike Rosered, ah, one of the few reasons I play X5, it has such a smashing OST, I'm doubting however that it's Sigma Stage, Shadow Devil Battle, Rangda Bangda W battle and Sigma Final Battle 2 are underrated.
Oh, and X5 has like, the best regular Boss Battle theme ever (X8's comes close).

On X8, Lumine Battle 1, Noah Park Ambience, Final Sigma Battle and Central White, go forth and worship them.

Songs I think are underrated,

Wily stage 3
WEB F*CKING SPIDER (how can you NOT like it!?)
Sigma Battle 1(the dark, less upbeat one) (X4)
Supreme Ruler (?)gba (#1 favorite music theme, alltime since '03)
Magnetic Rumble gba
The Last -The Wish Punished- RTRZ
Cool Hearted Fellow RTRZ&gba
Volcano RTRZ&gba
Max Heat RTRZ&gba
Blaze Down RTRZ&gba
Sky High -Grand Nuage- nds
Pallida Mors ZXT
Snake Eyes nds
Phalanx nds
Last Battle (vs Andromeda) (personal #3 favorite final battle theme ever)
Confrontation with a God (#4, <3 Yoshino Aoki)

I'm still leaving out a horde of track but this should cover the most prominent in my eyes, not sure if all are underrated, but I don't hear people often about these awesome tracks.

Personally, I'm a sucker for Eurobeat, drumrolls and breakbeat, so things like Spark Mandriller, Gate Stages, Supreme Ruler, Last Battle and Cool Hearted Fellow naturally make me feel all fuzzy inside.
Oh and 8bit music also does wonders, tho I've come to find that unless someone a gamer, they tend to call it "not music", and loathe it....hell I even have a couple of gamer friends that call it "not music", so I suppose it just isn't for everyone >.>

Wily Machine from Mega Man 9, and Final Battle with Rockman Juno from Mega Man Legends demonstrate what final battles should sound like, IMHO .

Word, but with adding Sigma X5, Fake, the final battle themes of SSR1~3 and ofcourse RM3 & 4 Wily.

Shooting Star / Re: Impressions so far of Ryusei/Star Force 3
« on: December 15, 2008, 10:38:36 PM »
I got some laughs a little bit into the game when all of a sudden Phantom Black Omega shows up and rapes you.

Me: Doo-de-doo-dee-do...

*ominous music starts up*

Me: Ooh, music change. I wonder what *WARNING. WARNING. WARNI-whoosh*...

ファントムブラックΩ

2700HP

Me: Oh crap.

Phantom Black: WHAAA*pimp cane smack*

*ROCKMAN DELETED*

XD LOL that's awesome XD

Gotten and beaten SSR3BE a week ago, got the Bly noise out of nowhere O_O so you don't HAVE too banish 6 people from your brotherband, like they did in SSR2.

Anyways, SSR3 is awesome, with the black end galaxy, mentioned Last Battle, dramatic storyline, awesome stage music, Noisechanges that come at "thank you, oh THANK YOU CAPCOM!" speed (as in opposed to the forever it took in the EXE series style changes), and whatnot.

Warning, major spoiler.
The final boss does not have 8000 hp, it has the same amount as Andromeda, after defeating it, you get a free shot at the final boss, IOW YOU CANNOT DIE, as Black Ace, Black End Galaxy does OHKO's it, that one does have 8000 hp, but since it's a non-lose free all you can eat cake battle, I don't consider it the final boss. it's probably the same for Red Joker with it's respective Noise Force Bigbang.

Also, did those popup/noise missiles remind anyone else of Gospel? both the music and battle had a little Gospel feeling imo...like Ra Mu felt a bit like Duo, both of them I consider the thoughest final bosses in their series.
I wonder if Yoshino Aoki did the final battle, he did do Andromeda and Ra Mu's, so I'm kind of hoping...but I'm unsure since it does have that Akari Kaida ring to it...but whatever, what an awesome track.

Oh and,
did anyone else feel like the final stage looked a bit low budget? maybe that's just because Mu Continent looked so awesome/more detailed...
But yeah, great story, great gameplay, great music, Capcom has once again made me very very happy!
(and very sad, I wept at the ending, big tears.) not sure if it's spoilerific, but meh.
Timing is also important.
If you use it too quickly after one hit, you will waste one Satellite because of Plug Man's temporary invulnerability. o.o

Happened to me too, granted, I have fought him 4 or 5 times or so, but still I forked myself over a couple of times, being to hastily >.>

Life-Ups: 4 to MAX
Heart Tanks: 8 to MAX (unless you're playing the retarded X games)

Uhm, no. they ARE BOTH CALLED LIFE UPS (by capcom, see manuals), while the value differences THEY HAVE THE EXACT SAME PURPOSE.
(extending the LE Gauge)

Heart tank is not the official name

LEAD IS HEAVY

THAT MUST BE WHY THE BUBBLE DOES NOT FLOAT

Capslock must be tied to idiocy...look at the freaking bubbles, if they were made of lead, would they still be transparant, the answer is NO, so go stuff your fail logic where the sun doesn't shine.
Also, while the bubbles drop fast, for bubbles that is, they don't drop nearly fast enough to be made of lead, barring the fact that it is a chemical impossibility.

WHY CAN'T IT BE BOTH!?!?!?!

BECAUSE CAPCOM SAYS SO!!!111111!!!! >.>
Bubble Lead (leed = good, led = stupidity)

ZX / Re: ZX References
« on: November 18, 2008, 12:58:20 AM »
Except that they aren't pretty different, there are two boss beings circling the level in a fashion so much like Geminiman, it can't be denied, what helps fuel the idea is that -like geminiman- you can strike both targets to do damage. wether they be "projections" or not, the pattern is a reference. moreso to Gemini than to shroom (as you can damage only one shroom.)

ZX / Re: What Do You Want to See in a ZX3?
« on: November 18, 2008, 12:54:03 AM »
God no. I played this one fan-game which had a lot of cool ideas (like air-shadow-dash), but what they did seriously [tornado fang]ing wrong was the multi-stacked boss lifebars. It was something like yellow-green-red-blue and then there were bosses that went and started the cycle over from yellow again, so when you thought they were down to half health you hadn't even reduced it by 1/5th.
The bosses in general in that game were pretty much bullshit. Didn't help that most decent attacks rooted you.

lol, I think it's funny you think that Capcom didn't think of aerial shadowdashing first, it's called Hyper Dash and it's in X2 Soul Eraser. but you're probably right about the life gauges, but I still think the final bosses of games should have 3 gauges, like Elpis, Omega, Vile and Serpent, I don't understand why Albert doesn't have one, it's not like the barrier makes up for it >.> boss battles with more than 3 bars could still be exciting tho, but on the other hand, I wasn't too wow'd about it in Chaos Legion and Devil may cry either >.>

ZX / Re: What Do You Want to See in a ZX3?
« on: November 17, 2008, 11:32:31 PM »
As far as Lifebars, no Life-Ups, no Heart Tanks, just stick with a maxed lifebar from the beginning. Same for Weapon Energy, too.
Bosses, same 1 bar.

Hell no, leave that to the classic series, ZX needs more gauges (as in 4 or 5 giving bosses a total of 128 or 160 LE)
also, LIFE UPS AND HEART TANKS ARE THE SAME DAMN THING. >.> and ZX needs it, as it helps seperating it from the Zero series.

A lil bit more Metroid wouldn't hurt the ZX series.

Hell Yes!

« on: November 17, 2008, 11:20:05 PM »
Now that I think about it, If I take elemental chips and EX skills into account, the Shield Boomerang (defense weapon in Zero1~3, uhr) would be the best shield weapon...but that seems a bit unfair, seeing as the EX skills are the "weapons" of the Zero series.

I think Leaf Shield, since it has a little more range at times.

Leaf shield does dick against Wily. as do all other weapons besides bubble lead (iirc).

Has there ever been a shield weapon that could be used on the final boss? I don't remember any besides Rolling Shield.

I honestly don't know, perhaps Star Crash (tho that should be empty from use against the Wily Press)
Also, using the charged Rolling Shield against Sigma is...unpractical? I have to try it, but you would have to activate it as you jump of Sigma's claw, since that cancels CRS, *shrugs* oh and then again, there is the shield boomerang, OH so useful against SeraphX on Hard, reasonably useful against Elpis and Omega...yeah Rolling Shield doesn't have squat on it.

« on: November 17, 2008, 11:03:23 PM »
Regardless, this IS the classic series forum and if you look at my comparing, you'll notice that I listed only classic series weapons  :O

But for the hell of it, Rolling shield is about equal (counting only the Charged version, since Rolling Shield uncharged doesn't act like a shield weapon...at ALL) but no...I think Jewel Satelite does better damage...oh and then theres REFLECTING MOTHERF*CKING SHOTS, something wich I haven't seen a shield weapon do to often (Shield Boomerang comes to mind, wich takes 2nd place, even if it impede's movement...wich can be circumvented, but is annoying to do...) I have no idea if Jewel Satelite lasts forever tho, haven't used it enough for that.

So no, rolling shield isn't better, you can't fire it, you can't reflect shots with it.
It does get bonus points in Cyber Mission for making you immune to spikes...

Damn right it is. >>;

Rockman Series / Re: Cheapest Boss Attack(s) in the series?
« on: November 17, 2008, 10:53:37 PM »
You all seem to be forgetting the Cheap REVENGE HAH attack that several bosses have (Flauclaws and Ourobockle are good examples, Pegasolta is a bad example) if you kill them while you are airborne and over a hole/pit, YOU DIE, now THAT is the cheapest attack ever, even if it's not done by the bosses, then by the programmers XD
