So, a nice-looking volume called "The Legends of Rockman" was released in Thailand in 2012, providing an overview of the classic series. Of note is the fact that it arranges the games in chronological order, including every title except the DOS games, Strategy, and Gold Empire. If this is a licensed product, that would lend the timeline some level of legitimacy. However, I'm afraid I can't read Thai, so I don't know if it was licensed by Capcom or if it was simply an independent work. The publisher appears to be Green Panyayan Publishing, under their "GPP Gaming Book" brand. Anyone have clarification?

I read that Rockman ZX's theme, "Asayake", isn't even in the game itself. Is this true of any of the other games with vocal themes?

X / A question about the different X3 soundtracks...
« on: August 15, 2011, 04:38:37 AM »
I noticed something odd as I was looking through the X1-6 soundtrack: there's an arranged version of the cast roll music for X3. But at the point where that music would play, the PS1/Saturn version either has "I'm a Believer" or the "Ending Theme", depending on where the game is from. Was the music composed for the game, but never used, and they just decided to throw it in the soundtrack? Or is it somewhere else in the game?

Original / Soundtrack-Related Questions...
« on: August 13, 2011, 10:06:15 PM »
This may seem like an oddly specific question, but I wasn't sure whether or not the track present on the album was the original or a remix/arrangement/what-have-you. I was wondering simply because it seems bizarre for that one track to be on there when no track from Wily Wars has ever been on an official album.

Rockman Series / Ever had a RockMan-related dream?
« on: March 09, 2010, 04:21:00 AM »
I was down with a terrible fever a couple weeks ago and had some pretty trippy dreams. One of them was RockMan-related, as well as head-explodingly awesome. It basically had Rock, X, Zero, Grey, and Trigger facing down a legion of enemies (I couldn't see what they were, it was just the usual black mass of objects used in anime to convey an army). Then the theme from the first Power Rangers series fades in, and Rock gives the command to "Rock on!" in the same manner as "It's morphin' time!". Then they go through some ill-defined Sailor Moon-esque henshin sequence in which Rock merges with Rush into the Super Adapter form, X gains the Ultimate Armor, Zero gets the black armor, Grey uses the Model A biometal, and Trigger puts on a helmet and equips the Shining Laser. And then, once they were all transformed, they did a traditional cheesy martial arts pose while multi-colored explosions went off in the background.

Then my dream shifted to something else. I had just finished watching a bunch of Rockman-related Let's Plays, so it sort of fits that I'd dream about it, but I haven't watched Power Rangers in years. Either way, I'd kill to see a sequence like that in real life, even if it's just a flash animation.

Original / Was RM&F the only internumerical sequel?
« on: March 09, 2010, 03:42:40 AM »
I read about the name Rockman 8.5 being found in RM&F's code, and wondered if there were any other side games given the honor of being shoe-horned into the numerical sequence. I know there was .EXE 4.5 (which never got an American release), but were there any others? Come to think of it, was ZXA ever actually referred to as ZX2?

General / So... are there any plans to continue the Retrospective?
« on: March 08, 2010, 05:20:39 PM »
I'm a huge fan of GameTrailers video game retrospectives, and was disappointed to see that they haven't done a Rockman retrospective yet. Then I saw that RPM was doing one of their own, but it just sorta stopped. Are there plans to finish up all the side games and continue to the other series?

Original / Mega Man Chronology Discussion
« on: November 15, 2008, 08:04:44 PM »
Well, one was about to pop up, anyway, so I figure I could post it. This is basically a list of what we know about the placement of the spin-off games in the classic series (I wish they'd publish a definitive timeline, since this is the only series where the timeline hasn't been spelled out clearly for us). Any corrections or additions would be appreciated.

Mega Man (PC): Probably takes place before Rockman 3 (Rush is absent)
Rockman World: Takes place after Rockman 2 (RM2 Robot Masters are present)
Rockman World 2: Takes place after Rockman 3 (RM3 Robot Masters and Rush are both present)
Mega Man III (PC): Probably takes place before Rockman 3 (Rush is absent)
Rockman World 3: Takes place after Rockman 4 (RM4 Robot Masters and New Rock Buster are both present)
Wily & Right's RockBoard: That's Paradise!!: Takes place after Rockman 4 (Dr. Cossack and Kalinka are both present)
Rockman World 4: Takes place after Rockman 5 (RM5 Robot Masters, Beat, and Super Rock Buster are all present)
Rockman's Soccer: Takes place after Rockman 5 (Beat is present)
Mega Man (GG): Takes place after Rockman 5 (RM5 Robot Masters are present)
Rockman World 5: Takes place after Rockman 5 (Stated to take place after RW4)
Wily Tower: Takes place after Rockman 3 (Weapons from RM3 Robot Masters are available)
Rockman: The Power Battle: Takes place after Rockman 7 (RM7 Robot Masters, Auto, and Forte are all present)
Rockman 2: The Power Fighters: Takes place after Rockman 8 (Duo is present)
Rockman: Battle & Chase: Takes place after Rockman 8 (Duo is present)
Rockman & Forte: Takes place after Rockman 8 (RM8 Robot Masters are present)
Super Adventure Rockman: Takes place after Rockman 5 (Beat is present)
Rockman: Gold Empire: Takes place after Rockman 8 (Duo is present)
Rockman & Forte: Challenger from the Future: Takes place after Rockman 8 (Forte Buster is used as in RM&F)
Rockman Strategy: Takes place after Rockman 8 (Duo is present)

I'm not going to attempt to place all of them in a coherent timeline just yet, but here's the info if you want to do it yourself.
